There's a range mod at T8?
-
Do you agree with the addition of Anime ships / camos / commanders?
HaachamaShipping replied to Riggerby's topic in Off-Topic
The rest of us shouldn't be subjected to this shitty bigotry. Ha, almost makes me want to buy the f-ing overpriced AL bundle. Almost... Good, I think we all are better off without these shitty topics. Continue playing or not. Don't care. Have a nice day, Sir. -
Ok. Have a nice day.

Dunno, as I understood it the second time around is "Pensacola is renowned for eating citadels, so everyone will focus it into oblivion and if I play Pensacola, that is frustrating.", but thing is: It is a good target. That's not just some rumour. As a BB, shooting a Pensacola now is even more important, because the ship became more potent for the tier its at. At T7, the Pensacola competed in protection with Myoko, Shchors, York, Algerie and Fiji, of the tech tree ships. Fiji and Shchors are also pretty easy to wreck, but Myoko, York and Algerie are a bit tougher, for cruisers. At T6 though, you compete with ships like Nürnberg or La Galisonniere, who often start to disintegrate if they get even so much as scratched by BB AP. Being more often thrown into matches along these ships will take some pressure off the Pensacola. I do not know what other point you'd want to get across. Pretty much.

I preferred old Furutaka to the Kuma, I must admit. Yes, turret traverse was atrocious and if you got rushed from the other side you basically had those fast 6 km torpedoes (not 10 km like now) as the best means to try kill them, but if your guns pointed in the right direction, oh boy, those Omahas died fast. Now it's a ship I'd consider quite potent. Would take into theoretical T5 ranked, if playing a Kongo wasn't an outright better choice (not counting premiums).

Well, Pensacola didn't become less squish from getting downtiered and just more of a threat. Killing it is entirely in the enemy's interest. If there were "better" targets, then it shouldn't be that bad if they focus on Pensacola instead. If anything though, Pensacola can profit from T6, because Nürnberg and La Galisonniere aren't known for survivability either.

Clearly, we need RN CVs next. Also, I wish Massachusetts was out. Sweet 127 mm IFHE spam. All those thin-skinned cruisers...

Just had a hunch.

SC for 100 anti-flooding flags...

I wonder why DDs became so rare... Might it be the flood of T8 radar boats that have radar range approximately to their detection range?

Doesn't even need the module on top hull. I use damage control 2 instead and Bismarck handles still fine. If I really need to avoid torps or something, there's hydro and situational awareness to anticipate the torps. If it's to angle in and out for shots, still works most of the time and otherwise, what do you need some quick rudder for? It's a stock hull. Something had to be garbage on it. There's worse. Get the better hull. Get decent rudder shift. Get rudder module if you really need a good rudder. And yes, fire chance is not too great. It's not French. But fires will start and unlike French, you don't need IFHE for the 15 cm guns to hurt. Secondaries aren't that much of a boon anyway. Their greatest use is hurting smaller ships, scaring away people and helping win angled stand-offs.

I mean, is it really an issue? If someone wants to free exp it, it's not exactly your problem or my problem, but their decision and maybe they are right or they wasted free exp or whatever. You don't need to rebrand it necessarily and over time perception might change. Furutaka once had a reputation for being garbage. Cue three buffs later and it's a solid T5 and much less hated.

Depends. From my personal exploits in DDs, most high tier maps have caps you can try to contest without too much fear from radar. Like, for example, Hotspot A. Just don't go into the middle of the cap, if there is no DD around, or actually, just don't go into the middle of the damn cap, it's likely you'll get wrecked by the portion of the enemy team on the other side. You can cap easily from a corner behind the island, where noone who doesn't drive right in the middle of the cap can shoot at you and if some cheeky Chapa or NO or whatever radar cruiser thinks they can pop radar, just wait it out and enjoy that apart from a spotting ribbon, they got nothing. If they do push into the cap, well, likely there's some support around you that'll blap them and you can launch torpedoes. If there is no support, you should have bailed anyway, though for now duck behind the westernmost island till radar runs out. Hotspot B is not that likely to get radared at start, because it's hard to set up a position that covers the entire cap and isn't open water. Hotspot C has so many small islands to hide behind, though I consider Hotspot C a poor choice for most DDs, because the obstructed vision makes it easy to run into other ships at close range. And most maps have these positions. Only a few are somewhat unfriendly, but for most, a DD that knows how to keep an exit strategy at hand is going to be able to still cap. The reason DDs die to radar most often is that they get ambushed by a well set-up surprise radar (which needs some skill) or they acted in a way that left them vulnerable (deliberately avoiding saying they outright potato, because there are people who unlocked their T5 DDs, run into their first Atlanta/Belfast/Indianapolis and have no clue what just happened).

It's not just about stats. It's the utter dissatisfaction you get from a match that was lost because a good part of your team couldn't pull off the most basic of tactics to win. If I was to lose because the enemy just pulled off a better tactic and outplayed me, it'd be far less infuriating and still somewhat enjoyable. Even if it still lowers my winrate.

Bismarck best T8 hydro cap contester. Would slot hydro mod if I could. Please don't take away my BB hydro.

https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/premshop/azur-lane-commanders/ No, it is not absurd. Yes, it is effective for training commanders. There were similar missions with the HSF ships and it allowed me to get from 10 pt to 14 pt without much issue (given Harekaze needs 14 pt). If you are an average player, the missions will not suffice to get to 19 pt. Especially as they are locked to the nations, so, 30x for RN, 10x for KM, 20x for USN, 10x for Soviets.

Yes, HSF Graf Spee is a premium ship. Any German works on that ship without retraining. Makes for an ok captain trainer, if you don't mind the gameplay of the ship.
-
T7 can get the map too. And it still sucks for something like Colorado/Nagato.

Giulio Cesare is strong, maybe OP, but if it could oneshot you, then it didn't beat you because it is "OP", but because you presented too much broadside. Don't show enemies flat side to shoot at, steam at an angle, watch shells bounce or deal less damage.

Applies to all T6 DDs. Maybe Russian gunboats suffer less from that. And worse than the CV in T8 matches are T8 DDs. Benson, Loyang, Hsienyang, Akizuki and Harekaze outspot you and rip your ship apart if they want to.

Or any other BB that can break 30 knots. Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, KGV, DoY and Hood are also not too terrible at C, though you really need to make sure you don't get stuck there, as you likely are a top tier BB and you either push through or you relocate, if your influence cannot be leveraged there.

You cannot stealth torp without cover. You cannot torp what you are rushing. Unlike Furutaka or Nürnberg torps, these torpedoes are quite restricted in use and likely a not a major factor in fights against cruisers. And yes, you can launch them around islands to get the jump on people, but... That leads to this. The reason I argued concealment was in Pensacola's favour is not that Pensacola is less visible. It's that in a cruiser vs cruiser fight, Aoba can use concealment once and then the surprise is ruined. And that one salvo it gets off will never kill a healthy Pensacola, unless it detonates. A Pensacola that manages to spring an ambush on an Aoba will delete it in one salvo quite often. And as both ships don't like to hang out in open waters, ambushing in a Pensacola is not impossible. Cruiser AP at T6 of all cruisers is perfectly capable of penning other cruisers if it hits a flat surface. Angled, they pretty much all bounce, except Graf Spee. HE-wise, all cruisers at T6 can pen each other without issue, no IFHE required. And anything where a Pensacola shatters an Aoba isn't going to magically penetrate. So, tell me what factor in penetration will make Aoba's broadside comparable to Pensacola. Against same tier, no cruiser needs IFHE, because it's only at t8 we see 32 mm common plating become standard, while 25 mm plating for T7 and below is going to eat HE pens from 152 mm guns every time. Against the odd thicker part meanwhile, Pensacola has same caliber, Graf Spee has larger guns, Nürnberg with 1/4 caliber penetration is playing in a different league altogether than the Aoba in terms of damage it can do. I mean, you can claim Aoba is good. Sure, it's not bad. But whatever its strengths are, damage output is not one of them, as she is pretty middle of the field in alpha damage and trails behind the rest in dpm.

The only ship where I'm fine with this map is Atlanta. Maybe because islands are nice and the range is too short to support other caps anyway. But if you really want to suffer... any of those dreadnought BBs. Choose a cap. Crawl there with your 21-24 knots. Get frustrated by mountains blocking any potential shots at enemies while you are on the way. Watch as other flanks collapse any you can't do anything. And damn if you play something like Iron Duke, with atrocious turret traverse, where you can't even take pot shots through some gaps, because you need to turn the turrets the other way for later (going to A cap from the South via the narrow channel between the islands, you have a hard time shooting into B or approaching enemy BBs on port side, before you need the guns turned to starboard side to engage foes at A). But indeed, this is my most disliked mid-tier map.
-
They are different, but Aoba's rate of fire is not that much better and as I stated earlier, her dpm is only beating Graf Spee. It's not some Nürnberg that really is the king of sustained damage output at that tier. Aoba's strengths are less her gun armament, but the overall qualities, like good speed, decent armour (for a T6 cruiser), narrow profile, long-range torpedoes. Also, high fire chance per shell. I would say, while Furutaka at T5 is a quite strong cruiser, Aoba for T6 is far less so, being a more mediocre ship. Not bad, but the competition got stronger.

Thankfully, I'm used to weird pronunciations from watching anime and hearing Thea's "Dankeschön". Because needless to say, it's terrible. And I know Aurora speaks some Russian words. Forgot which.
