Do detonations now come in bulk and pre-determined?
HaachamaShipping replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
I typically see a detonation every now and then and typically it's single events, not in bulk. So, I'd say, coincidence. -
[Feature Request] Random Ship Selector Switch
HaachamaShipping replied to Gojuadorai's topic in General Discussion
Random number generator, number inbetween 1 and 130. Count which ship it is. Might help to have the 4-row carousel, so if you have like 82, you just go to the 21st column and pick the second ship in it. Though I'd rather just do a RNG for the tier and then pick a ship in it, especially for division play. -

Kind of depends on DD line. Something like IJN torp boats really like fewer DDs and more BBs. -

All T7 BBs are vulnerable to 38 cm+ shells, as their bows and stern can get overmatched. In that sense, a T7 BB is not much more weak to a Musashi than it is to other T7s, excluding Lyon, KGV, DoY and Scharnhorst. Gneisenau is likely the one holding up best though, given the strong lower bow plating that can bounce Musashi even. Well, I just know Nelson is a favourite target for HE spammers, because of the soft armour. -

Nelson's 32 mm plating? I think it's just that it hurts a lot. -
Yeah, but I went by the longest. I feel like Ishizuchi is almost more effective at firestarting than cruisers, because unless cruisers their shells typically hit before DCP being active and afterwards, but not inbetween, while some spammy cruiser is just a constant hail of HE. But these are minor things really.

I mostly responded to a post that, as far as I understood it, argued that AP bombs should be made more anti-German BB weapons, being more lethal against those and not just oneshot cruisers, which to many seems like an unintented side effect. My point was that: Most German BBs already take lethal damage. There is no more lethal than likely oneshot. Taking away most other targets and limiting it to German BB will make AP bombs unattractive, due to being extremely limited. Who'd take an AP Midway if there's only 4 ships that would ever get affected by your AP bombs?
-
Who needs fires when you can actually reliably penetrate broadside belt for citadel shots? Also, Ishizuchi 25 seconds reload is just great to get past the 20 seconds fire immunity after DCP was used.
-
No, because I don't play CV really. For the rest, I don't see the point in response to the quoted text. I know AP bombs can harm more than BBs. The lack of versatility my post mentioned was no the status quo, it was in response to another post that tried to limit the utility to German BBs, but making it deadlier. Which to me was absurd, because you already can reliably devstrike most high tier germans and decreasing the target selection would make AP bombs way less attractive than HE bombs. After all, if your AP bombs could only harm Germans, then why would you take them instead of HE bombs and just kill Germans with the normal means for killing BBs as a CV, instead of giving up so much utility just to kill one single line faster? Sorry if I seem pissy, but I had a bad day and logging on the second time to be quoted and feeling like people misunderstood my post. And after posting a clarification already once, why do I keep getting quoted? I do not understand...

Hey, I once got a 30% coupon and bought a Hood. Given Hood is solid gameplay-wise, has collector's value and makes a nice trainer at T7, I'd think it's somewhat attractive, especially when getting it for like 25 Euro instead of 35 or so. And every Hood bundle I saw since combined it with other stuff I wouldn't really buy for the price asked.

I know turtleback isn't what causes Germans to die to AP bombs (else, T6 and T10 would die too), but the person I quoted argued that the AP should maybe be designed more as a weapon punishing Germans, which imo, they already do (apart from T6 and T10) and I don't see the reason of making the target choice more narrow.
-
Well, apart from Kurfürst and Bayern, the German turtlebacks already are susceptible to getting oneshot. I guess apart from expanding it to the two ships mentioned, there's little extra vulnerability you could add. As a Bismarck player, I'd not give a damn if your AP bombers became even more lethal, because you can't bomb me for more than my max hp anyway, which AP bombers often already do. I'm no CV player, but I do wonder whether it is a good idea to reduce the amount of ships AP bombs can delete. It seems so niche, why would you use bombers that can only delete German BBs and are garbage vs everything else, if you could take HE bombers and just have more consistent performance? For a carrier, it isn't exactly hard to kill the Germans with torpedo bombers anyway. Turtleback doesn't do a thing there and the torpedo belt on Germans is certainly nothing to write home about.

Ryuujo air superiority loadout. It is terrible, but it exists. The ship can choose between 1 fighter, 2 dive bomber, 2 torpedo bomber loadout and 3 fighter, one dive bomber, one torpedo bomber loadout. If you hate having proper influence on the game, you opt for the latter, because good luck getting anything done with the single dive bomber and torp bomber squad. Bonus points for sending your fighters around in one big blob, then getting them strafed out of the sky by the single enemy Ryuujo fighter squad.

Ships can also use their secondaries from within smokes without getting spotted. A bit lulzy on RN CLs when you don't fire because the enemy is close enough, but your secondaries throw a few shells anyway. Really nice though when you move your secondary specced BB into a smoke and still get 11.3-11.6 km HE spam with no detectability increase. Go play some high tier IJN DDs and tell me how little skill is required to actually score torp hits on any intelligent players. And how those guns can kill things. Or how that concealment is broken when every second cruiser has radar and you have among the least hp to take a hit when you are spotted. Apart from Shima you aren't even faster than the cruisers hunting you. -
DD play at T6 and above is now broken ...
HaachamaShipping replied to Alzy's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it is overkill, but it still is useful for having a larger window against the stealthier T6 and T7s and as said, Harekaze is more maneuverable, with better turning qualities and higher speed. Obviously, the 5.4 km concealment is of greater importance when matched vs tiers where it provides also a defensive bonus, making T10 matches less painful than for some other DDs. -
Is there actually any point in having 2 different 'Damage controls'?...

Better cooldown. Main reason I use it on ships like Shchors that get a lot out of extra range. -

Go play a DD, actually try to contest caps as any non-RU DD should and tell me what you fear more in the enemy lineup - Zao or DM? One is a damage farmer, the other a teamplay ship. -

No cruiser can tank T10 BB shells on their bow (at best they can tank 38 cm shells). Know when to camp in front of BB and when not to. If you cannot camp in front of the BB, look for an island and use it as cover to shoot over it. The others cannot do that and you should eat less shells. Here, the DM AA, the radar and the shell output allow to lock down areas of the map, which is what a Zao or Hindenburg cannot do. -
Battleship AP on DD's nerf to early?

I use it Damecon 1 regularly. Easiest 22.5k credits saved on an IJN DD. Only run premium smoke, because that's something actually of great use, but typically it's just easier to never be seen and shot at and when seen and shot at repair after you get out and not too risky crap until it is off cooldown again, meanwhile just torping from a safe distance. For a BB, the difference is typically 40 seconds (80 seconds vs 120 seconds). Percentage wise, all ships lose equal amounts per second. -

HaachamaShipping replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
I mean, the main reason why the Des Moines bow camps is not just because broadside it eats citadels, but because it retains 2/3 of the shell output while doing so. A Zao or Hindenburg would lose 50%. This does not mean a Des Moines cannot go and look for a position where it actually can use all three turrets from behind cover, lobbing shells high, which it can do better than its competition. Des Moines has similar if not better shell output from two turrets than most other T10 cruisers from 4, having worse HE than Zao, but certainly better all round HE than Hindenburg (which only is special in its HE pen, but has worse damage). And AP also exists, where Des Moines is pretty decent, with its American AP normalisation. Bow camping a corner is less the cause for bad dpm than it is the symptom of good dpm retention from losing the back turret and gaining much, because usually you camp in a position from where to employ your radar, which Zao and Hindenburg lack. Of course if you try go for the kiting playstyle of a Zao, expect to suffer, but you should have learned some tiers before Des Moines that you aren't some IJN cruiser. -

HaachamaShipping replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
So, we are comparing the dpm of a Des Moines that uses only two turrets, because it might eat citadels if it uses all three and shows broadside to its same tier competition, but on the assumption they use all their turrets, because surely broadside Zao and broadside Hindenburg won't get deleted for not angling. Sound logic... -
Battleship AP on DD's nerf to early?
HaachamaShipping replied to Hannibalurg's topic in General Discussion
Oh, DDs, the only thing they ever had to fear was BB AP pens. Haha, no... BB AP pens are far from the sole threat DDs face, as they pretty much are threatened by all other classes, from good CVs deleting them, to (radar/hydro) cruisers to other DDs, pretty much everything can be a threat to DDs. BB AP pens just were the one thing that was the most idiotic, because while CV spotting and executing an air attack or cruisers countering DDs or DDs killing each other in knife fights was kind of making sense, BBs being able to delete DDs with their almost nonexistent armour due to RNG pens was just dumb and made no real sense. DD play will remain hard, even with the change, not in the least if heavy cruisers will use AP to kill DDs. BBs still have means to delete DDs even after the change. Apart from secondary builds that now can absolutely melt DDs that stay within range, overpens still deal a ton of damage relative to a DDs hp pool, even if they don't miraculously pen multiple sections and suddenly deal more than the advertised 10%. And as to BBs being unable to carry... A well-played BB can absolutely carry randoms and can have an impact in ranked. It's just that usually playing a DD or cruiser is harder than playing a BB and for players who have to entrust their fate in themselves and six random folks on their team in randoms, playing a DD or cruiser allows you to take the harder role so that if you end up with the less gifted, they can play the easier ships. If you want consistently decent games, learn how to DD/cruiser and play that. If you want to have a more relaxed game, play BB. -
Yes, but still, the amount of general utility you give up just to get that bit AA range... How often will that AA range be useful vs how often will 3k more damage per torp, faster torp reload, more gun dpm and 1.8k hp be useful? One is very situational, the other are pretty much great whenever you try to play to the strengths of your ship, which you should. Indeed, maybe it could be an option if you use Harekaze as retraining ship, where you put up with an inferior Kagero, but for Ranked? Yeah, please no. Nor on my team anyway. Harekaze is a great ranked DD, but only in 4-10/B hull configuration, where it gets the gun dpm that is worth sacrificing hp and torpedo boat qualities for.
-
Top hull Kagero has 36.3 AA dps at 3.1 km (which about equals air detection range). C-hull Harekaze has 33 AA dps at 5.2 km and 7 more at 3.1 km. For this bit of AA range (and minimal decrease in dps), you get worse torps and 1.8k less hp. Also, less gun dpm. Worth it? I know I can down floatplanes semi-reliably, but I have the 10 cm guns and BFT and ctrl-click the floatplane for about 97.3 AA dps. Even then, I rather avoid getting into aerial detection range if I can help it, because trusting RNG is basically only a good option if either there's no way I could escape anyway or I know I won't be fired upon while being lit up for firing my AA.
