u.s cruisers U.S New cruisers need Nerf immediately
HaachamaShipping replied to Lady_godiva_s's topic in General Discussion
Key is, attack when you know radar is off cooldown or when they are spotted by others, thus having nothing to warn them that there is a DD within 8 km, thus they are far less likely to pop radar, ecause it could end up as a waste. If such is impossible., just torp whatever spots for them, that forces them out eventually. The area they effectively deny is not much, typical a 9 km semisphere or circle, depending on whether they have anything like a cap circle that tells them someone entered on the other side of their island. and even if they cover half a cap from behind the island, for most cap circles, their radar is insufficient to cover it all. -
Only stock. Fully upgrade, it is 30 seconds. And the issue is, even if they were accurate, they'd be hardly worthwhile, unless they become sniper rifles, because the others throw out 2/3 more to double the amount of shells, but the damage per shell is not that much lower and their penetration is no worse. So, rhere are no advantages gun-wise. The armament of the Myogi as is, is just bad in all areas except theoretical range, turret angles and turret traverse.
-
There is no advantage though. They don't overmatch anything the 305s don't already do. And while each shell hits harder, it's no contest vs the additional barrels of others. That's no solid advantage, that's basically cosmetics.
-
Myogi has no real quirks over Ishizuchi. Just 2 more knots of speed and a bit more AA. You'll still counter aircraft with your rudder though. What Myogi has is a higher level of RNG trolling, not in the least because you cannot just load HE like an Orion and spam that all match long for results.

Needs no missiles, only ASM0.

Open containers from the previous day, check missions, check audio settings, to make sure they are on National Voicover+. Maybe look whether my sole friend is around to play.

Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

I have HSF version and it's basically a somewhat derpy design. If you get over the fact that your dpm is pretty poor and you rely on alpha strike, you can get decent results out of it. It is absolutely a cruiser though and while it is the least likely to just suddenly disintegrate at T6, it's still going take massive damage from BBs. It cannot bowtank BB shells. It at least won't get citadelled through the bow though. You do not play this ship for its incredible performance. You play it for an oddity that isn't as bad as one might think after the first few battles. Also, citadel ribbons, because it's not bad at hurting cruisers a lot. Also has the best set of German torps that is not mounted on a DD. Which reminds me, I sorely miss those on Indianapolis. I had a cyclone in my second game. Well, apart from radar abuse, not much this ship can do, eh? I really know why I skipped USN cruisers so far, though I have to hand it to them, their AP hits home. -

Once triple citadelled and deleted a damaged Nelson with Graf Spee. Some of those BBs actually still have citadels, ya know. But even without citadels, cruiser AP can do disgusting amounts of damage, if underestimated. -

Well, I mean, CA/CL vs Cleve or its buddies is basically crap on it at range if it gets spotted by others or opens fire at you from there. If you have a close range encounter, you can avoid showing broadside and laugh at their paper armour and lack of torpedoes. -

Why stay 14 km away? As a DD, you can just stay 10 km away, if they are spotted and all's fine, because radar range does not go that far. And even if for whatever reason you get spotted at that range, the ballistics are so crap on that ship, you can likely dodge and run without much issue. Whatever spotted you will give you greater trouble. The greater issue is the concealment rating of the Cleveland, which means that unless someone else spots it or it is firing, the Cleveland will not be spotted by you unless just before you enter radar range, which makes it extremely hard to avoid the radar. But even then, a Chapa can do that even better and a Chapa can nail you at its radar range, a Cleve likely cannot. -

Don't own a Pensa, but I can imagine that it is good for citadel ribbons. -

Cleveland is a way worse DD hunter than Chapayev as for the poor folks that only just stumble into its range. It only is better close up, where it has an easier time dodging torps and keeping the guns on you. And Indianapolis is one of the least useful radar ships. It fundamentally is no DD hunter, but long to mid range support and its radar also goes nowhere close to detection range, meaning if you get detected, popping radar is likely just a waste. Not to say it's a bad ship and radar isn't useful, but Indy certainly is not the DD terror of T7 the same way Belfast is or Chapayev (or the rare radar Edinburgh could be) one tier higher. Add to that that no cruiser is designed solely around its radar and Indianapolis has certainly not the potential to become super popular, when radar won't save you from getting mauled by BBs. -

Payfast needs no rock. It can create its own cover and if the map is Ocean. And honestly, DDs don't all need standoff torps. At that point you could ask what's the point in playing US cruisers, when BB can delete them anyway? And no US cruiser has the ability to stealth torp a BB or shoot from ranges where the BB can't just potentially oneshot them back, unless they are behind some really good cover. I mean, if you expect to have a fair chance against a cruiser by launching torps from 12 km away, that cruiser must be dumb enough that 9-10 km torps would've done it anyway. Just needs an approach that doesn't prompt enemy radar, so, maybe a bit of teamplay. Or, well, let the BBs delete the cruiser... -
Any tier can beat up a higher tier if they are dumb enough. Doesn't mean that given equal skill that should ever have happened (but hey, just go broadside and ignore the torp spamming cruiser that spams AP into your Bismarck broadside for massive damage... at least the first one had the excuse that Leander had smoke, but that other one...) One thing worth noting though, border camping BBs are hardly ever a threat. Targets should be prioritised by how much they endanger your team winning the game and well, they certainly don't.

Graf Spee is decent bote, but it absolutely should not lead the scoreboard in a T7 game with Scharnhorst and Lyon... -

Yeah, I needed two tries. Was like "Hmmm, a ship that can get an easy cit and a kill. Well, I feel like playing Graf Spee" First salvo, double cit on Omaha, thought this would end up easy mission complete. But nah, team managed to throw. -

Honestly, I respect Chapayev and radar Edinburgh more in my DDs than the Cleveland. At least they can hit me still at the edge of radar range. and don't get me started of how I think in a BB about a cruiser without a torp option. And I can only guess all other cruiser lines have not too much trouble taking on Cleveland, with maybe the exception of RN, because frankly, the ship has such lazy arcs at range, dodging most of their salvo isn't even hard, while a Russian cruiser just nails it with the railguns every single salvo. -
The issue isn't even premiums. It's how well certain ships synergise with captain skills and it's not only certain premiums. For example while most of the T3 RU protected cruisers are pretty bad, the Bogatyr is absolute seal clubbing material, because it can benefit from BFT and AFT.

Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)
HaachamaShipping replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
That's some seriously flawed logic right there. For one, the profits would be lost for all eternity if the ship was like Shinonome a part of a campaign that is always available. Uglesett isn't even asking for that. They are asking for being allowed to do any mission during any time in the multiple weeks the marathon is going on. This would mean, the ship still only is free for the folks who log a certain amount of time into the game during a certain timeframe. Afterwards, it will again be restricted to shop and container drops. Next, WG is offering the Indianapolis for free, so they must be calculating with a reduced sale of this ship in the future. But this isn't going to break the game. The freebie premiums are mostly ships that are maybe interesting, but typically not exactly most powerful. Ships, which typically don't sell too well anyway. The losses from sales are at acceptable levels, also because the ships are a bunch of data, so it's not like they have a production cost per ship and they lose any added money giving them out, as well as this being a temporary marathon, so newer players later will need to purchase the ship if they want it, and lastly, it's one ship. If WG was starved for money, they'd just put some new ship on sale. and sure, this marathon is to reward players who log on and are willing to play a certain amount of time during the marathon duration, but Uglesett isn't asking for this to change. They are asking for more flexibility as to when within the few weeks they are able to log in for these missions. And sure, they aren't on every second day, but they are populating the servers at some point to get the missions done. Given the large numbers of players, even if people will just do the missions at some point and not be on for all the days, the individual breaks would even out and it wouldn't be like the server is ever depopulated. I got Indianapolis today, having finished all the missions so far, but I tell you, it was at times a pain to play, when I was abroad for work and had to use some crappy hotel wireless or had to do it after a whole day in some meeting with afterwards lunch with partners etc. And it certainly wouldn't have been possible prior to me buying a notebook good enough to handle the game while abroad. It shouldn't be hard to reform the format somewhat to make it less punishing. For goodness sake, the OR marathon had a format where missions came online over time, but stayed there till the end, which was more friendly in this regard (though far from perfect). If you were to give people 26 missions, to complete over 3 weeks of time and with 21 necessary to get the ship, that'd basically solve all the issues and would result in no greater loss than WG was willing to accept anyway. Also, while it would allow the folks more busy during the week to get it done on the weekends, it would give regulars a chance to not have to play on weekends. I can tell you, after having to log on regularly during the week to get missions done after work, with little motivation at times to do much, because of the hour of day, I'm certainly not hyped to also put my weekend hours into this when the quality of play takes a steep dive. If you want to incentivise people to stay, it'd be nice to give a format where it isn't that now, being done, I pretty much might just take a week off from the game, because I won't have these missions to bother with anymore and likely would be less burned out had I been able to take care of them at hours where I was comfortable playing this game to its fullest, not deal with getting disconnected half the time due to spotty connection or having to manage fitting this in with work and sleep. -
In a New York, you can basically follow DDs at the start of the match at full speed, because they'll leave you behind anyway. With faster BBs, I'd recommend between 5-10 km, depending on matchmaking. If bottom tier against some nasty BBs, being more at distance helps, to get the intel in first before you decide whether you can take the fight. When top tier and not much else that seriosly challenges you, you can go be more aggressive. Especially with ships like New Mexico or Queen Elizabeth, it helps to know how guns work and for example what calibers will overmatch what. A New Mexico for example has a pretty good chance to crap on a T5, it has ok chances against most T6 and it will have a pretty hard time vs T7, while T8 will just crap on it. Because New Mexico 356 mm guns can penetrate t5 bow armour from any angle (so even if they go bow on, you can do good damage there), while its own T6 bow is only going to get overmatched in the same way by 38 cm or larger guns (half the T6, most T7 and all T8+). Add to that that you are slow and you really don't want to be in a position where you cannot bail if a higher tier BB shows up, or three. Other nations are faster and have more room to play with. But as long as there is a DD between you and the enemy, it's pretty hard for an enemy DD to sneak up, so you are free to push closer. And yes, New york turns well. All slow BBs turn well. Mostly as they are more stubby, they have a smaller turning circle, while faster, longer BBs have larger turning circles and turn nowhere as tight (though they may turn as fast, as they have larger turning circles but higher speed to get through them).

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
HaachamaShipping replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, when I arrived at Gneisenau the first time, it seemed faster than the Bayern, but not necessarily better armed and kind of derpy. Couldn't figure out how this thing was supposed to play and was happy when I got to Bismarck (though I did get a Kraken in the ship during the grind once). After rebuying the Gneisenau to get me a secondary monster at T7, just for the heck of seeing what it can do, I feel like experience is paying off. Tough as nails when you know how to avoid getting shot directly at the bow and armed with some serious hurt at close range. Latest game, last survivor of my flank against two Fusos, a Bayern and a Haguro. They chased me to our home starting cap (losing one Fuso in the process), but sure regretted that when I turned around, triple citadelled that Haguro which had outrun its friends (Gneisenau also can turn around pretty fast due to its speed and close in), then went on to trade my almost dead ship against pretty health Bayern. Together with two DD kills (one being a Fubuki that was shown that Gneisenau is superior torp boat), I got a Kraken out of this, which surprised me. Got complimented afterwards, when only the Fuso was left for the Belfast returning from the other side and the carrier to deal with. -
Sorry, but I met people saying weirder stuff seriously.
-
NM dispersion is frankly crap, only helped by throwing out 12 shells.
-
Depends on circumstances, but I saw carriers cap, when noone else was around, which isn't bad play at all. Obviously, if you head into cap first thing in the match, before your Dds, don't expect to live long without a proper plan. It might be necessary, as the Leander has the best concealment of T6 non-premium cruisers. Also a smoke to bail and repair party. That's no misuse of the ship though. Depends on ship type, but apart from long-range support cruisers like French, mid-tier Germans and Russians, ranges of 10-15 km are typical for cruisers and battleships. If the enemy has no battleships around, closer ranges can work out, especially when hunting DDs.
-
Note that? Spotting plane spots things closer by, which is why BBs and cruisers often launch them when they think DDs might be close by, as a DD 7 km away from you is still a good bit out of detection range and a spotter plane would spot it or force it to move further away. It also can spot incoming torpedoes if it flies over them. Also, no BB has 20 km aerial detection range, even if there was no limit on how far aircraft can spot. Also, firing at targets 20 km away in a T6 is pretty much just a joke, typically done when you ran out of targets closer and cannot get into position fast enough because of godawful speed. Which means, it'd be good to get closer to the action in the first place. at 20 km, New Mexico cannot hit crap with its terrible dispersion.
