No, you can't. Fuso has ok dispersion values, but godawful spreads within that. Yes, you can occasionally get decent hits at 20 km, but you are far from good at it and you are far from "the best". The only thing that happens at times at 20 km, is that enemies don't realise they are being shot at and don't take any evasive maneuvers, but even a target like a CV (who cannot benefit from PT, has massive turning circle, no armour) is hardly ever going to eat massive damage from salvos at 20 km.

Issue with that argument is, that this logic holds true if you were grinding exp merely for the sake of grinding exp. In my case, for example, I've got easily the 750k on my two most played ships. But for neither would I get the idea to count the hours, because frankly, I played them for playing them, the exp was just a bonus ontop. And I think most people gather up substantial amounts of exp on elite ships or premiums, not because they try grind exp for conversion, but for the entertainment itself. -

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Ran into @15JG52Adler yesterday while playing Amagi. Didn't fare too well. Might recall me, as I was very angry about the friendly Asashio being an utter moron, trying to go for the flank (and dying), instead of scouting properly, allowing our flank to get utterly devastated by a Shiratsuyu that also spotted for most of the enemy team. That ship was a mistake. Also, sorry, but I didn't screenshot results and couldn't recall your exact name till now. -
None. Low tier premiums have no great credit potential. At higher tiers you'll get roflstomped, as you have no experience there. Just play the game, get good. Then consider buying a higher tier ship, once you played the regular ships at these tiers and are doing well in them (below 50% winrate is not good).

And you need a captain with more tha 6 pts at T5 or lower for what? It's nice, sure, but necessary? Not really. If you don't equip any signal or camo, sure, it's 5-7 good games. That's like one or two days of games, depending on how much time you spend on the game, playing pretty much any ship you want, earning free exp at the side. What a goddamn grind. Yes, it is a paltry sum and unlike credits, it's not even like you can go negative on exp when playing terribly. Anyone can gather free exp. For ops alone, you need 10 pts only for ships that NEED IFHE. That is basically T7 at earliest (and only Shchors and Helena of the non-premiums). CE is not required, because it is bots. You need no spectacular build for them. The only ship I could think of that needs a ton of captain skills to work in an op is Atlanta/Flint and those are premiums. -
Since when is a ~30 sec reload high RoF?

Except the guns have hardly more damage per salvo than any other 127 mm guns. So, they don't hit hard. They hit rather average. What they have is good ballistics, but you get similar from Russians and Germans (though German HE kinda sucks). At close ranges, or against larger targets these guns are better than nothing, but basically any other DD save the Asashio and Harekaze using the wrong hull will be way better. Typically, I'm not even sure whether it is worthwhile to camp an island and try to dakka with these guns, as you likely could do a better job going out, spotting, getting into position for the next torp run. So, yeah, the range at times can be annoying, most of the time, it's one of the least noticeable downsides of the guns and at some times even a good thing, while the bad RoF and turret traverse are what makes the guns so underwhelming and noone ever said "Well, I'm glad I don't shoot more and my turrets turn like a heavy cruiser". I don't even have the range upgrade, because it's one of the least useful upgrades for a torp boat DD.
-
Thing is, you portrayed the lack of range as if it was somehow a pervasive issue that would diminish the value of the guns, when it's practically maybe 1 in 10 times that you wish you had more range and 9 out of 10 times that the reduced range comes in handy with guns that are as bad in many other ways as Kagero guns.

Bismarck secondaries for 20 seconds are not going to kill you. Additionally, you can fire one salvo at max range and then move away with speed boost, to immediately get out of your increased detection range (and secondary Bismarck has to pick you as a target, so there is a bit more delay between getting detected and secondaries opening up). If you are on low enough hp to not be able to survive, no other DD would have survived that crap either. Other than that, the situation described seems like a mismanagement of torps and TRB. It may also be noted that a single Bismarck cannot capture the base faster than your torpedoes reload in standard battle and in Domination throwing your ship away for a capture point is just utterly retarded. The gun range is awful in this one scenario. The gun range is great in any scenario where you shoot at DDs or cruisers that are low health or in support of others and are able to vanish faster after the target died or retreated out of sight.
-
Issue is, the only ships that would lose considerable hp to a secondary build are DDs. All others not so much. And once they realise it is secondary build, they just bugger off out of range and laugh at my higher than normal likelihood to catch on fire or something. It certainly is not against BBs, because the range is so bad, if you fight at your secondary range, one wrong turn and the opponent slaps you with aP in the citadel.

HaachamaShipping replied to VC381's topic in General Discussion
I mean, one thing that should really not be discounted is the learning effect. Disregarding folks who just fail their way up lines, having to actually spend appreciable amounts of times going through the ships does teach you a valuable thing or two. And the main influence on competitiveness of players and ships is basically player skill, not ship abilities. And that you don't pick up on discount. So, if some new player feels it takes too long to get to the T10 ships, they might have to ask themselves, are they actually ready to get there? -
Don't crush my dreams of secondary Yamato. I even bought a Mikasa to train an appropriate captain...

Musashi and Kii do exist.

Not much to say about Fuso. Don't show side, derp ships. Don't go too close, you are no brawler, but at 10 km, you ruin cruiser's days. Lots of hp, decorative AA... Honestly, Fuso is a pretty conventional BB. At best, one can talk about getting uptiered, in which case, just keep a bit more range and try not be the first BB they can shoot at. Not 20 km range, but 15 is fine. Imo.

Italian cruisers look pretty cool though. Might grind just for that. Also, Zara-class might actually get something like armour. -

Better late than never. -
Almost no premium ship prints credits without some serious investment and decent games. For comparison, with a T8, I get maybe 100k on a mediocre match, up to 400k on a good to great match. I can approach the million only if I equip camo, signal and premium time (which is why I typically start grinding credits during the 1 day premiums we get as reward every now and then and save flags/camos for that), but that's a lot of extra factors. For T7, the Indianapolis is likely not ever going to print credits without investment, especially, because it is a bit mediocre ship (not like, for example T7 BBs, which typically are far easier to do decent in).

Ashitaka is awesome - can we still buff her a bit?
HaachamaShipping replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
Depending on the extent of that 57 mm plating, Izumo might still be able to get hurt by lighter HE shells (all over the belt?), but the 57 mm deck is is also not going to get penetrated by any CA. The only cruiser with sufficient pen would be the Graf Spee, but neither the German CAs, nor the IFHE Henri, nor the Soviet large cruisers can get through 57 mm. And the superstructure on the Izumo is quite limited. -

Counting silver ships and not premium (because they research nothing), I have one line up to T9, 4 more up to T8 and an additional two to T7. If I had wanted the Kurfürst, I could likely have gotten there by now, but I felt like rather going for different ships. It's really quite manageable the amount of content there is. And please don't go about how you need to grind your captain for lower tier ships. If you need more than 6 points for these ships, you really are just trying to sealclub down there. Or you spend 720 free exp, because that is what Umikaze costs. That's a paltry sum. -

HaachamaShipping replied to VC381's topic in General Discussion
Is there a reason you need everything? No. Creating new stuff adds novelty and having a grind means people have something to try grow into the line. If you can have a Yamato after 50 games, just because it is old, it's still terrible design. Other games might have such, but typically it's games where there is something like "endgame", but in WoWS, whether you have 1 or all T10s, you aren't necessarily thrown into different content. And getting 1 T10ß is as easy/hard now as it always was. -

As a Harekaze player, I mostly just enjoy my four free captain points and with recent changes grinding Izumo to Yamato looks quite nice, compared to the duck line. And I kind of get the feeling when any game mode or clan asks me to actually own a proper T10, Yamato will be more accepted than Harugumo. -

This might be a bit oversimplified, but the Myogi has for accuracy 218 m (horizontal) dispersion at 18.6 km range. And pretty horrid spreads. Now, it will get 2.0 sigma. If I compare the ship to a Warspite, which is noted for its stellar accuracy, with ASM1, the Warspite has 203 m at 16.3 km. If you adjust for range difference (easiest is taking away the range upgrade on Myogi, dropping it to 206 m at 16.9 km), the two have almost identical dispersion values. And soon the same sigma value too. Obviously it should be noted that Myogi's AP shell has 790 m/s muzzle velocity, while Warspite's AP shells leave the barrel at 732 m/s, so Warspite will have way better vertical dispersion, but still... I'm getting excited.
