    Catch broadside. Like with Moskva, broadside Stalingrad quickly is a dead Stalingrad. Or spam it to death with Hindenburg/IFHE Henri (given good Stalingrad players will try to do their best top not be spotted in unfavourable locations where they are open for instant-deletion. Just like with Moskva, in ranked and randoms it pays off even more to thus split up your BBs to get different angles on different map locations and to get good shots at the few spots where these ships like to bow-in camp most of the game.

    Then get a different ship. Your first suggestion makes her basically a Kagero (or proto-yugumo with 12 km) that can switch into a lulzy anti-BB DWT setting at will. Second makes it absolutely ridiculous if it can also nuke cruisers along the way with 21k damage torps. Neither of your suggestions is balanced. Both are just insanely OP and basically straight up better than a Kagero. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of the limited versatility either. But any change to Asashio to make it more versatile needs to trade something away too and it will not happen. You knew what you were getting with this ship. Don't like the limited versatility? Don't buy it (and thus stop financially supporting the concept of a one trick pony ship). Get a Kagero, play that. Or you just could have bought a Harekaze instead. Throwing money at the game (and questionable ship designs) doesn't entitle you to not get shot down for this dumb request. You openly state you were knowledgeable of what you were getting. It is clear that the Asashio is "balanced" around its utter lack of versatility (and still overperforms in randoms). Yet you somehow want it buffed and bring up two suggestions that would be straight upgrades, ignoring how they'd powercreep the hell out of the Kagero. What other treatment did you expect?

    I hope this was an issue with Akatsuki, but not with Kagero. If you have this issue with Kagero, it's pretty easy to fix.

    Yes. They also are quite tanky. Just slow, no torps. I'd use Belfast, Edinburgh and Ajax. Replacing Edinburgh or Ajax with Leander for buff skill once obtained. Or some other decent buff cruiser.

    Issue is, hydro was one of the things Loyang had going for it, it being otherwise a pretty underwhelming Benson. Loyang has the second-lowest hp pool at T8 (only Harekaze has less). An encounter with a Z-23 (provided Z-23 does not get German hydro) would see Loyang pretty beaten up or dead, if the Loyang allows the Z to use AP effectively. Loyang also now gets spotted way outside hydro range, making it easier to run off for the enemy before being hydroed. @Captain_LOZFFVII a short while ago argued with me about whether Loyang can outperform a Harekaze, but with these changes, I think Loyang is going to suffer much of its competitiveness if this goes through.

    I mean, there's worse. If it wasn't for an attentive CV providing cover, that Bismarck would have basically died 2 minutes into the game, getting nothing at all done and with no hope of ever getting into range of friendly AA.

    Nothing was said. And one might say "But the RN DDs aren't introduced yet", however, there already is Haida with "defensive" hydro, so it really is unclear about whether that hydro is affected or not.

    FdG would get the 6 km, as it is T9 German hydro. Also, mind you, British DDs have hydro too, but you won't tell me that 4/5 km is "defensive" anymore.

    Blitz has different aircraft mechanics to what we had up to now. Might be they recreate it with the new ones, in which case, I do hope we won't end up with a CVs that cannot switch between ship and planes and a BBV that can.

    London is a CA. RN CAs carry torps. Not DD level torp power, but still decent. London for example is inbetween Leander and other CAs like York, but way ahead of stuff like Prinz Eugen. And obviously beats USN in torps.

    Ehhhhhhh.... London's skill is nice. But it's a CA. Do you like using CAs? London might make on ok buff unit if you got nothing better. But CAs aren't exactly great most of the time. Her skill is pretty much Leander skill, but all ships, not just cruisers. So, doesn't stack with Leander. I'd still take Leander though, because Leander is waifu a CL and handles better. Only thing London brings over Leander is a few hp, CA guns and increased firepower, but Leander has better speed, evasion, torps and way better AA. And once Leander gets the refit, she is just straight up superior. That is not to say London's terrible. You can play this early game with whatever you want. If I had London I'd stick her to York and Exeter in Fleet 2 instead of Kent. Just know, when dodging with CAs can be a pain and when you eat a torp, you typically don't just lolevade the damage. Also, my post wasn't about promoting Leander (though you are free to embrace the cuteness), but to show that it doesn't take a lot of setup for a ship with objectively mediocre ingame value (but subjectively top tier waifu material) to steal MVP from units way more highly rated (e.g. Enterprise, which btw still did 1.5 times the damage anyone else except overbuffed Leander did). and for sure compared to Kancolle, where CLs typically won't take MVP from CVs unless I either equip the CV with fighters only, fight enemies the CV is absolutely useless against or go into night battle. Can pit a lvl 80 Agano vs a lvl 10 Hiryuu, Hiryuu likely still will secure the MVP due to opening air attack.

    You should learn how to structure a text so that it gets a point across. It should be clear at the end what the point was and pretty much all paragraphs should address that point and be in a logical order. With this thread, I get the feeling you just need an outlet for your unstructured thoughts and given few can understand them, you might as well just get a paper bag and scream them into it. The outcome will be the same, but you'd be done faster and get less critical feedback on the boards.

    5% less fire resist in exchange for getting good dispersion is just insane, given slot 2 basically is filled with underwhelming options for pretty much all ships. The T7 Helena is annoying, but far less so than Worcester and Gneisenau has 50 mm deck plating, making it the second most HE resistant ship at T7 (after Hood). IJN gunboats don't even exist at T7 and the occasional matches against Akizuki and Kitakaze, it's not hard to get away with 32 knots of speed. Yes, you need to actualy get a feeling for when you can push, based on knowing what you can take on and how. But well, even the line said to be for noobs requires some skills to perform well. And when you know what you are doing, Gneisenau can be extremely influential. I think I earned the most Kraken in this ship. Also, in regards to counter-push, Gneisenau is fast and you in my experience, you can actually try to kite enemies if you are confronted with strong foes. Often, this leads to their faster units overextenting, where you can try make a quick turn and then run them down one after the other, given the ship is, as said before, fast.

    Put as secretary, put in dorm, use for battles, fit with good equips and level them to get easy MVP. Giving a ship right equips and a higher level than the rest can allow them to secure MVP really easy. What do you mean save up?

    Thanks. I gave out some compliments too, because I was happy to have a team where I didn't feel like my tanking was just wasted. Had a game with standoff against two DDs, Mino, Worcester and a Yamato around the central islands of Seas of Fortune and somehow my team still managed to die to a flanking Conqueror. I love how much of a beating Yamato can take. I guess I'll need to work on that positioning too though. It indeed was not a great day, lost ranks and will try to regain them whenever I find time again. Good luck on your future battles.

    If the opportunity presents itself, it is easy. The hard part is getting the right constellation. But it's easier to do than in any of the other T7s. Gneisenau and Scharnhorst do not have the same secondaries except on Gneisenau A hull. Top hull on Gneisenau carries 11x2 12.8 cm secondaries which have 31 mm pen base. While 10.5 cm guns don't do a whole lot except vs DDs, these 12.8 cm guns can shred even same tier BBs (and with IFHE, they'd hurt T8+ too). With 10 point commander, I already got AFT and while they don't hit often, I at times got up to 25k raw damage on ships just from them. These secondaries are, within their range (8 km), the best German secondary suite right after Kurfürst (which has 5x2 12.8 cm and 2x2 15 cm guns per side, compared to Gneisenau's 6x2 12.8 cm). Personally, I'd use PT, AR, BoS, AFT, Manual Secondaries, SI, EM (or PM + DCCA) for 19 pt as a more generalist secondary captain or replace SI and EM with IFHE and DCCA/PM on a full on secondary build vs even T8s.
