More like, it's a decent overlap, but frankly, I'd rather not. For example, I'd spec RN captains with PT, but people might prefer PM, which is also viable. Similarly, for 2 point pick, your Belfast wants AR (maybe SSE if your cloud is too small), not LS, for 3 point, it'd be SI or DE on Belfast, while a RN DD likely would go SE, BFT or TAE even, all skills that are not too useful on Belfast. For 4 points, they share CE, Jutland and daring share IFHE with Belfast and if you want, RPF. So, in a way, the best you can do is spec your Daring PT, PM, LS, SI, CE, IFHE and RPF and you got the least loss, but neither of the ships might be served best that way (on Daring, BFT is imo better, while Belfast would like AR. You could not take RPF and PM, take AR and BFT or DE instead, but still kind of not optimised for either). Personally, I don't have a Belfast, but if I had, would just build my Leander captain for it. PT, AR, SI, CE, IFHE, JoAT and DE would be 7 wasted points on Leander (well, ok, you get HE secondaries...), but at T6, 12 points is good enough.

Yorktown is pretty solid for starting CV. Also quite tanky. I use her as flagship, because of her skill that restores hp if it falls too low, so she has effectively like 3k hp atm. which is unsurpassed in my fleet, I think. Maybe Eugen has more, but typically the best ships I currently have are just a bit over 2000 (Full LMB Leander is 2.4k). -

Are we talking about waifus now? I guess it might be surprising, but it is... AI fort will shout cute Japanese lines as it mercilessly guns you down? -

I'd stay clear of T8 premiums entirely, tbh. T8 MM means T10 games and with your experience paying 30-45 Euro to get thrown into high tier as bottom tier ship is not going to go well. Similarly, Musashi at T9 is a bit iffy. It's a good ship (if not OP), but for one, it's likely the hardest T10 BB at T9 with its vulnerabilities even more accentuated, and also it needs 750k free exp. Converting that costs over a 100 Euros. For that kind of money, you could as well go get a nice lower tier ship and premium account for months. I have no clue what you enjoy in terms of gameplay. I'd say if all you want is more credit income, get some premium account and play more lines to find what is your kind of thing. In terms of income, T5 is basically terrible (unless you roflstomp the field in Giulio Cesare or Kamikaze, I guess), T6 sees some income that might be worthwhile, T7 starts becoming good at proper credit grinding, T8 and higher is where you can get a 500k+ with good signal loadout and a decent game. So, T6 to 7 is where I'd argue is best for newer players, but requires some decent game performance still to give good returns. For merely learning the game, play tech line ships, play multiple lines to see what style fits you best. Buy a premium for a style you like and you do well at. Also, it's partly up to personal preference. For example, personally, my favourites at T6 and 7 for learning something would be Graf Spee and Hood, but few would recommend these ships, as Spee is just too special, while Hood is... kind of uninspiring to most people and often viewed as not very good. But Graf Spee is a T6 cruiser that still plays much like a cruiser in positioning. More forgiving, but you still get the feedback when you messed up. Its guns are atypical though. Hood, because it's tanky, but only as long as it stays angled. Give broadside, you die. One of the most valuable things to learn in a BB. But both cost money and it is better to know about the game and make an informed decision based on that before buying a premium really.

I'd hope so, because people seem to calculate containers and souvereign numbers that suffice for neither and I'm confused and I'd consider that the actual bummer if it was the case. It's kind of been the highlight of the even to me. Don't care about the camos or stuff. -

I use hydro on Hindenburg, Atago and Prinz Eugen, preferring defAA on most of my other cruisers when there's a choice. On French, rushing smokes is rare, on Soviets, you get radar and for Hipper I'm AA specced, so I use defAA of course (PE for hydro play, given hydro is more useful for brawling and Eugen is the better ship for that). Americans are typically either equipped with both or you get radar and good AA, while heavy cruisers stay at range more. RN gets no choice. -

Ok, over the course of the event, how many containers can be obtained without any RN DD? Just regular play. -

Agreed. Though, from the sound of it, I guess it'll be more like Legendary mods, where you get "sidegrades". I guess for some you'll still get a "best" option, like the damecon with shortest cooldown, given longer duration longer cooldown damecon is terrible (damecon duration imo almost balances itself, as for example 30 second duration would be good for brawls, but 30 second action time means that these are 30 seconds where the CD doesn't start yet). Meanwhile, for others, you could try achieve balance (repair party that heals more for longer cooldown would be an interesting trade-off for example). Obviously, what WG says and what WG does are two different things however. -
You don't have to launch them all in a line, but creating a spread on your own certainly helps at range, when you basically can tighten the spread to the the point that most torps don't just run past the target with no chance of hitting anyway. Also, you get no battleship sized gaps if you don't make any...

Nagato has 2.0 sigma and 41 cm guns at T7 that have good penetration, good damage, ability to overmatch all others at its tier and nuke ships at range. Its angles also aren't bad and while not great, it also had better turret traverse. Vanguard at T8 has 38 cm guns which even if they aren't Hood guns with actual dispersion would not be anything special, as far as I see it. It'd actually be at the very bottom of T8 firepower, compared to Nagato that is towards the top. I don't see how they are really comparable in their "strengths". -
Asashio - fun ship but... can we change on or two things...?
HaachamaShipping replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
Most cruisers need to choose between hydro and defAA and DDs typically don't get hydro at all. For them, any normal DD smoke is not recommended to be rushed. Asashio though you can just rush down and rely on the 2 km guaranteed detection. That's basically the difference there. -

Yeah, Edinburgh carries one of those TbtsK 15 cm fast-firing AP guns and I replaced Kent with her, while I'm still levelling Suffolk from dorm and commissions. I don't have any of the three, thus I first tried putting Gridley in. Then I remembered noone but Gridley has torps in that fleet and replaced her with Hammann. Highest level USN DD I have, gives protection to rear fleet and if I actually retrofit the ship, she might actually get AA mode. Combined with Cleveland, that might make it a decent AA fleet. In that sense, I might have to actually rearrange it so they are in a fleet with PoW, Yorkdown and Enterprise for air fights. Put the Leander frontline with Hood, Rodney and Unicorn for RN fun. I had nothing to replace Repulse with really that stood out. For now, put California there, but as said, might just put PoW there and the USN frontline to make it a CV fleet. York and Exeter will move to fleet 3 as reserves. I don't really want to replace York, because I like having them together. So they go both together to Fleet 3. I could use Prinz Eugen in third spot for the tanky setup, but I for now chose to stay with Eagle and Royal ships, just for immersion. It's weird enough already with that, given I cannot recall the Battle of Midway being won because one Leander class murdered her way through the Japanese lines. I would guess at some point, the time for others will come. In general, is there a point to most ships? I feel like you can just have your two main fleets, two fleets for whatever special occasion and most of the ships you can just forget exist. In KC, you at least keep them for events, due to ship locking and historical setup routing and damage bonuses. Or is Repulse just there in case it's your waifu. -
To give a bit more insight on why Indianapolis isn't for you, as @Strefs stated, one of the hardest skills as a cruiser is staying alive. Next would be to stay relevant. In a way, the game actually is supportive of that, as low tier cruisers quickly get overshadowed by BBs and DDs, before becoming ever more relevant the higher up you go. Indianapolis as a cruiser is pretty lackluster. It's not bad, but it certainly is not a game winner. It has to put in a lot of effort. It has its radar, which is not to be discounted, but even in that aspect, it is the hardest T7 radar to get much use out of. So, Indianapolis is likely one of the harder premium cruisers in the game.

As a purchase? No. If you like French cruisers, get a De Grasse instead.

So, as I unlocked my third fleet, I was wondering what to put into it. For reference, current fleet setups: Originally Long Island was in Fleet 1 (instead of Repulse) and Ranger in Fleet 2 (instead of Rodney). Tried to fit PoW with as many decent Eagle ships as I could find, Edinburgh is just there because I figured she's better than Omaha or a DD in that setup. I'm not keen on mixing escort fleets up, as one heavier ship would weigh lighter ships down and one point of using DDs would be to have the maneuverability. Light cruisers are kind of great, because they have the firepower to kill things and the maneuverability to dodge stuff, while also being quickfiring enough to kill suicide craft and they have AA. Considered Rodney and two Monitors for third fleet, to spam barrages, but that is kind of unreliable. Is this light cruiser trio ok, or better go for DDs or CAs? -
What's with the DD meta these days?
HaachamaShipping replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
Get a new captain. Vigilance has no place on a DD. Get one with 1 point, put into PM, get to three with a couple games for LS, then grind towards 10 for Torpedo Armaments Expertise and CE. Yeah, but on IJN, given the playstyle, TAE is better first pick, SE is good for 13 pt. -

Jean Bart? Bourgogne? I bet there is a realistic base for the Main Gun Reload Booster. Pretty much all your reasons against Yuudachi at T8 were based around "it is unreasonable there, because I don't like it there, because in some aspects it is worse and in some it is better, but I will not go into detail how it any of these make her unbalanced". You argue not about why you think 5.2 km is unbalanced or why you think the health pool is bad or any of that. At best you get a reference boat like Cossack, ignoring that Cossack handily murders a Kagero, Shiratsuyu does not. you argue about your AA, although AA is just fancy numbers with little actual difference for the IJN torp boats. You try to do a compare it with an uptiered T5, despite the fact that a T5 is in a completely different environment and balanced around a completely different environment, a T7 is not, compared to T8. This proposal isn't unreasonable. It's maybe based on a desire to generate profit if it gets implemented, but it's far from unreasonable. Retiering ships based on whatever lulzy factors is something we have experienced a lot in downward trends, we see it in upward trends, heck, at some point Fubuki was deemed acceptable at T8. Now it's a T6 in latewar configuration. Uptiering Shiratsuyu as Yuudachi would basically create a more normal IJN torp boat at T8, while generating money from weebs who buy it, or from those who liked pre-nerf Shiratsuyu and accept it at one tier higher. The ship at that tier wouldn't powercreep Kagero any more than Kagero powercreeps a Benson (being weaker, but stealthier) and it is more balanced and reasonable than the ship the whole thread is about. Or how much realism is behind the deep water torpedoes of the Asashio? I cannot recall it ever being issued anything than bog standard Type 93 IRL. But here we are, blessed with this. Or tell me how Akizukis burned down battleships with their lulzy 10 cm caliber that actually lacked an armour piercing anti-ship round IRL. I don't really care about the Yuudachi much (inb4 I get kicked out of my clan for that statement) or about the torp boating (Harekaze main, want a hybrid), but it is ten times more reasonable than a good few designs that made it into the game and a good few things already announced. But that's the game we have. -

While I'm not saying they'd not do it, putting them in premium shop for purchase in some shape or form would be the most retarded thing they could do. And don't tell me there's a "lack of content" necessitating this crap.
