    Ranked "Season 10" - Observations...

Stopped at Rank 5, because I deemed it far enough. T8 experience was a joke, as I needed almost no games to get to R15 and given what bracket T8 is settled at, carrying the few times isn't exactly hard. Beyond that, I played Hindenburg and Yamato mostly, the two T10 ships I have. Mostly noticed BB is kind of easier to play and if all things go South, keep your star, but Hindenburg got me a higher WR, so I finished on Hindenburg. Also because I am still new to Yamato. I don't know what my teams were like stat-wise. Some seemed to have a clue, some didn't. I met not one Conqueror that knew how to use AP. Overall did better than last season by virtue of actually having T10s. Wasn't very exciting. I'm more looking forward to T5 (even if it'll be premium fiesta).
  2. Herpaderp, ship sucks in Ranked, so must be terrible. Only has highest average damage and terrible winrate. Almost as if it was played by star saving morons that don't know how to play for the win and just play for the star anyway. The kind of morons that blast broadside cruisers with HE still, because lul, what's AP. Ship also only competes with Republique for highest WR in Randoms, with consistently highest damage and highest K/D ratio. Oh my, how fragile. Frankly, just because you perform below the server average doesn't make the ship bad.

    Matchmaking Tier imbalances.

Well, issue is, it is far harder to pretty much oneshot a Yamato that isn't exposing its citadel. With Nelson though, you can citadel it from the side, through the bow, just anywhere. And everything that doesn't reach the citadel is just a heavy pen, while on Yamato most will just ricochet off the deck. I mostly consider Nelson the opposite of something like Hood in that Nelson is absolutely insane top tier, but loses value fast the higher it goes up, while Hood for example is still good top tier, but not as dominating, due to the focus being on the armour. Hood can get by in T9 matches though even with the big guns shooting at it. Some things just don't tier up well. Also, how do you kill a non-potato Gneisenau in a Bretagne?

Got Hornet from World 5. They really put that Big Wasp joke in there... Not that I complain. Now I have all three Yorktown-class. Also, event earned me two Ise from construction and one Yamashiro drop. Not much else. I heard Leander becomes less expressive after retrofit, but I did see her smile at times, so it seems fine. Sadly, as I go through the event, I mostly drop more Leanders and not really anything useful otherwise. Worth a Zui-Zui if no Zui-Zui from construction?

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I basically do as well in Hood though as I do in Gneisenau. And Gneisenau is my third most-played ship with a 60+% WR. So, I don't think I'm so terrible I just suck at both.

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I disagree and say Scharnhorst is straight up worse than Gneisenau. Fite me.

    Matchmaking Tier imbalances.

I'm pretty sure a Musashi can potentially oneshot a Nelson. Thanks to 25-32 mm armour mostly and exposed citadel.
  8. HaachamaShipping

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I mean, what ranges are we talking here? At max range, the Gneisenau still has 385 mm of pen on its shell, which basically goes through anything but well-angled belt. Even with spotter plane you'd maybe run into issues, but then you aim differently anyway.
  9. HaachamaShipping

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

Why not aim for belt? At close range, it will pen, at any range where you fear it won't pen, aim for upper belt.
  10. HaachamaShipping

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

The accuracy isn't awful. Just not good. And it only helps if you cannot aim. If you played something like Yamato, Warspite or new Myogi, you know how satisfying shells are that actually fly where you aimed at. The main reason the dispersion shouldn't cost you games is because if you know how to play Gneisenau, you don't play her in ways that puts emphasis on accuracy, ergo the derpy dispersion becomes less important. When I consistently play Gneisenau as a sub-10 km ship (and with that speed, you can), it becomes far less an issue if your ship has garbage dispersion. But other ships can play around accuracy. e.g. Myogi will certainly not prefer close range play as much (but will end up there anyways, because small T4 maps), but you'll much more readily play the ship at like 12 km, blapping others with pinpoint accuracy. And you'll rely on that.

I did read it, just... I cannot make out the points of it. So, there are unpleasant truths to be discussed, which I assume will be stated in the following paragraphs. So, we are comparing someone to pets, trying to create an analogy that someone or something can be taught the same way "easily". And it is to teach someone about their undesireable behaviour, whoever that is? This unwanted behaviour is somehow related to food? Could you please describe what inconsiderate food-related acts are meant? Is this about migrants? What are they doing? We are back to basements with food-related issues (I guess it's the food-related issues from before?) and they are in Germany. Seemingly the German state is not helping with whatever food-related issues there are? Suddenly we talk about humanities sacrifices and bettering the species. Is this still about food-related basement issues? Are we improving the species by solving food waste? Is that the point of the post? I do not understand. This at once seems spiritual, yet rejecting religion or superstition. Is this still related to the above? So, overall, I did read your textwall. I just did not understand what all these seemingly disjointed paragraphs are about. You say silent majorities need to stand up and point out truths. I guess I'm not part of the silent majority, for I don't get what you are referring too.

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

Yes. I mean, what gives? The ship is basically the most survivable tech tree ship at T7, with the best secondaries any BB could ask for tier for tier, incredible speed for a BB, torpedoes, a god tier AA for T7 and its one drawback was that the main battery lacks dpm and gets derpy at range, because apart from number of guns and accuracy, the guns otherwise are top notch (traverse, velocity, overmatch caliber, pen). Even with German base dispersion, a 2.0 sigma would basically turn the ship into a reliable gun platform even at range. If you want to know what 2.0 sigma on German dispersion means, look at the first Prinz Eitel Friedrich test version or at Scharnhorst dispersion. It'd not be Nagato, but I doubt it'd be balanced, given the remainder of the ship.

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I mean, the better comparison to me would be whether you would have hit in a Nagato. With Lyon, yes you might've hit, but would it pen? With Nagato, you really have the accuracy comparison, as basically both are comparable in what they will pen in a battle. And there, Nagato is just better. Hood also is more accurate, but then again you have situations like a couple days ago where I just fired my 38 cm Gneisenau front gun into the rear of a Lyon I was chasing, got a citadel. Hood wouldn't get you that. Nor would Scharnhorst. They all got their pro's and con's. And that is good this way. Also, Scharnhorst not only gives you more shells to gamble with, it also has 2.0 sigma. It typically will hit where it was aimed at.
  14. I mean, if the "core problem" is a citadel that can actually be hit, that's a "problem" I'd not even consider as first priority fixing. As long as the ship has things that make up for it. Vanguard got its turret traverse improved vastly and it got pretty good guns now. The one gimmick out of the ordinary for British BBs is 33% citadel restoration. That's it. The HE pen, short fuze, 60% pen restoration, they all are normal for the line.

    Matchmaking Tier imbalances.

I mean, you lost and the T7s were less useful? Is that the benchmark now for "competitive"? Find some folks in higher tiers that are even worse, so a ship is competitive even if it cannot carry much? I don't disagree much, T5s can still do a good bit, but @Saiyko is kind of right when he points out T5 BBs being among the worst cases. Giulio Cesare is kind of the exception, but the rest of them, when faced with a T7 will straight up die, as will a Giulio that actually tries to go 1v1 against a T7 BB. Top tier Gneisenau/Scharnhorst vs T5 BBs is among the meanest combinations there is, but even a Nagato can straight up tank your T5 shells and citpen you through the bow (except König). Non-retarded Gneisenau vs any T5 BB is so utterly unfair, it's imo only maybe surpassed by Nelson vs Musashi.

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

Really powerful = 3k+ AA dps with full AA spec. At 2.16 km. No scatter effect. So, within this tiny window, you basically can have Worcester-grade AA. Get torp dropped from outside and you'll eat the torps still. You might kill the bombers after they dropped their payload though.
  17. No. Dunno why you expect CVs to get unnerfed. Also, noone gets defAA either.

Is the background colour that important? All it really changers is which bulin you can use on it. And something like Leander has stats and skills that would as well fit on a blue or purple background, but somehow it is grey and a common drop. Not that I complain.

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I am not taking the average Hood owner into consideration. I'm talking about the ship itself and what it can do. Counting on an enemy to just be dumb and let you kill them easily is a dangerous thing to do and if you ignore how you could be outplayed you are pretty much sooner or later going to end up being just as potato as the rest of them.
  20. Vs AP, it's doing fine while angled, unless shot at by a Yamato/Musashi. It does have 32 mm. It isn't Hood grade tanky, but it does have decent concealment. And the guns seem pretty decent now. An exposed citadel alone doesn't make a ship weak. Kii also manages at the tier, being not too hard to citadel and being HE pennable everywhere except the main belt.
  21. HaachamaShipping

    Hood vs Scharnhorst

I'd dispute that. Unless you show broadside, you are still competitive against pretty much any same tier competition. Big gun ships like Nagato and Colorado have less hp and suffer from having to give you angles you can pen while they often will bounce off you, while small guns ships like KGV and Lyon cannot overmatch you and either have to farm overpens on the superstructure or shoot HE, where again it mostly just hurts in the superstructure. Both are easily penned by Hood AP though. The Germans meanwhile you can keep at arms length wth your speed and Scharnhorst is like the least threatening of any T7 BB at range (it neither has overmatch nor good HE for a BB) while Gneisenau hasn't got the quantity and accuracy on its guns to really contest a Hood that knows to stay out of 8 km. Hood struggles to kill BBs fast, but in 1v1, it still often can outlast the enemy. The main issue often comes down to the question, is it a good idea to spend a couple minutes working over that Nagato or just nuke 3 cruisers around it instead. Except it doesn't, because no Hood captain with any idea how to play the ship will stay in the 8 km range where Scharnhorst outperforms Hood.
  22. As a Harekaze owner, I approve. No, it really was needed. Oh boy, this looks kinda interesting. It's not a Monarch, not a Hood, not a Warspite... it looks kinda unique and balanced?
  23. HaachamaShipping

    IFHE for Gearing?

IFHE on 127 mm guns allows you to pen other Gearings (21 mm hull) and cruisers. The issue is, shooting contests with cruisers are kind of sketchy (also because 30 mm sections of T10 CAs are still off-limits) and 4 points is a lot. Likely better to just bet on fire RNG, aim for superstructure or at closer ranges, switch to AP.

    Matchmaking Tier imbalances.

Uhm... I wonder what they'll do to T5 and T8. I kinda fear for Giulio-style powercreep. Oh wait, they are "looking into it" aka we'll see a fix sometime in the next decade maybe in a concept (like BB AP on DDs) or it'll get dropped in two years because who in Sankt Petersburg could be bothered (like tutorials). Support ship? Some yes, some no. Don't go all in, but that you shouldn't do in most ships even when top tier. Actually, when top tier you have to be even more careful about what you do, given you actually have to make your top tier advantages felt, so you need to properly balance your ability to perform with your survival, as to not remove your ship from the match prematurely. If I yolo a T8 cruiser into a cap, shoot up a T10 DD, that's hardly optimal play, but often you at least had an advantageous trade. If I yolo a T8 BB into the cap vs T6s and get torped and HE spammed to death, maybe blapping a Nürnberg in the process, that's just terrible. I'd say, if you are very comfortable with a ship and can play it to its strengths, most ships can still play an influential role as bottom tier ships. You just need to know how much you can bite off and still chew. If you have a good idea of that, you can basically gauge which upper tier opponents you can engage and which not and how to best make an impact. It does show in exp at the end, yes. Helps you reach that sweet top position in bottom tier ship, putting the top tiers to shame, though at times not very useful top tier team mates make it easy topping the score board and then you have to step up and carry. Also, for my favourite silver ship...

Sorry, I'm too potato to understand. Could you please summarise your points in more clear and concise points? I can guess some of them, but I would prefer if I hadn't to guess your intentions, as such could lead to misunderstandings.
