Just most people don't make a huge fuss about it, because frankly, while a technical advance, it's not like knowing that matters to German everyday life and if you look at technical advances in WWII, there's more important things than just rocketry. Not to mention... the Americans and Soviets used the science to fly into space and establish a nuclear threat that would shape much of the Cold war. It's a pretty objective and established fact that the Third Reich lost the war, so, presenting themselves as the losers is kind of a given, because, you know, they lost. However, I think Germany is one of the countries that put horrendous effort into researching and educating people on this period and German achievements and war crimes. And it isn't that they gloss over the achievements, rather that they don't go about glorifying them. Also because when you glorify the "achievements" of Germany in the 30s and 40s, you run risk of misrepresenting the fact that Germany lost enormous resources to mismanagement and enormous intelectual potential due to emmigration and murder. Rockets are neat, but if you look at social and political sciences, Germany at the time contributed only by providing a brutal case study. While pre-WWII, you have large German names like Max Weber in the field, during and after WWII these fields were mostly developed in America (partly with input by Germans who left) and to this day is heavily influenced by them.

They mostly are, due to the 25-32 mm armour treshold. Apart from Yamato/Musashi, you can bowtank enemy T10 BBs easily, while a T6 is not going to do much against you. So already one tier difference can be much. T7s are close, but still not as far ahead of T6. T7 vs T5 is however much greater difference compared to T8 vs T6, imo. You will outcompete a tank build or an Amagi, but it still is hardly reliable in my experience. Maybe you can murder T6 planes, but T8+, you shouldn't count on it. And at T8, NC, Alabama, Massachusetts and Kii are all a good deal better in AA potential. Tirpitz?

Or you AA spec any other T5 BB. It will just be as good if not better at doing the job, given most have decent range on the long range and all you need is the couple fighter kills to turn the dogfight. As a BB, most T5 BBs are better anyway and Texas AA is more self-defense than anything.

If you don't take CE, every bit of concealment helps. Secondary Kurfürst is 15.9 km with only Concealment mod and camo. Already 5% shaves off 800 metres. With 10%, you almost get CE. Meanwhile, if you are too inattentive to dodge torps your German hydro uncovered, is there any hope to dodge them when they get discovered a bit further out?

Bretagne has much worse hp, same speed, smaller guns, similar crap for armour. Turret traverse also isn't special, reload isn't special, shell speed is good, but also means higher vertical dispersion, the AA is highly rated... yet it's not even special. Yes, it has 175 or so AA dps when a target comes within mid-range and that's 5 km on full AA build. But a König can get like 165 dps with same build and the majority of it (145 dps) is on the long range, on 6.4 km. Admittedly, Bretagne gets longer ranged long range, but only a fraction of the dps on it.

Well, all I care about is Michishio art. Because it means we might get more Asashio-class art. Which means higher chance of Kasumi and Arashio art. Not that Michishio isn't fine herself. Btw, is Illustrious worth 80 medals?

Concealment mod beats target acquisition mod, so guess which bonus gets thrown out for better hydro. Yes, it'd likely not be concealment but torp detection. Especially on secondary-build German BBs with atrocious concealment and hydro available for when you need it, torp detection is the better sacrifice. Also, a -1 second secondary reload buff is huge, the -5% dispersion not. That reload buff is basically a 33% increase in firepower on the 12.8 cm guns on Kurfürst and Gneisenau (4 seconds base, with BFT it's a 38% increase) If you build secondaries, this is insane. Slap on Kurfürst Legendary and you get 2.18 seconds reload before AR kicks in. Goodbye to anything that comes into range.

Ah yeah, buff the BBs, they lack competitive edge against the rest. Screw those DDs. I'm not going to comment on the example values, most are flat out broken though. I take it they are examples and need heavy tweaking by someone with an idea of game balance. Overall, I deem this silly complicated for no purpose.

So, from today's construction, got 3d5, allowing me to work on completing Atlanta collection. And what is likely of more use:

I noticed a trend of Salem players being quite aggressive CA players. No other T10 CA has been as often rushing my Kurfürst in the past week or so since I bought the ship, typically trying to somehow bowtank BB shells. Needless to say, superheal does not do much when you citadelled through the bow at 9 km and die. So, yeah. Ship might be an interesting alternative for Des Moines players in randoms, but it certainly is also captained by a good few folks who have no idea what the hell they are doing.

Which is the key. 1-1-1 Bogue basically cannot attack your ships without risking its fighters in a dodgefight over your allies AA. At the very worst, both CVs only can play the spotting game and never engage, then Zuihou still has 4 squadrons to Bogue's 3. If the Bogue ever risks its fighters, you basically can beat them, then, when you won the skies, you actually have the strike package to get use out of it.

I mean, if you want to apply a single buff to it, that's the buff to go. Currently, the AP does work, but within (largely still reasonable) range constraints. One reason I prefer reload mod over range mod on Hindenburg, because the range is mostly a waste.

New 1-1-1 Bogue is just trash. So was old 2-0-1 Bogue. Like Langley, yeah, it might be able to win the air, but then what? autodrop your single torp wall that gets dodged most of the time and dive bomb to hope to get fires. Zuihou with 1-2-1 can at least cross-drop and while it has 2 less fighters, that's enough. In a div with any decent low tier AA ship anyway.

Bretagne is worse. The last two are the only ones that are campy, as the rest are fast roamers.

How do Zuihous manage to beat Bogue in randoms then? Frankly, I'm pretty confident that if you give me a Zuihou, I can beat a Bogue every time or at least achieve parity. In fact, Bogue is just the worse carrier at T5.

It's a Des Moines you can get without ever having to touch a USN CA apart from it, switching the radar utility for more selfish super heal. What do you expect? Hindenburg imo wouldn't become a skilled ship with better autobounce angles. What's the skill of being able to spam high damage AP from almost any angle? What the ship would need for a start is a heavier shell for better AP pen. It currently flings around the lightest heavy cruiser shells that somehow do the most damage. It's not an anti-BB cruiser, it's an anti-50 mm plating cruiser. If you want a Republique dead, Hindenburg certainly is not one's first choice, nor would it likely be for Montana and Conqueror. Only on Yamato and Kurfürst is the Hindenburg the best damage dealer, though for Yamato IFHE Henri is a serious alternative as best pick.

Damage is not the same as dpm. Zao for example ranks incredibly well in average damage, despite having rather low dpm. The issue with that is, can I point at this stat sheet when I get gunned down by a Des Moines in a duel? Certainly that dpm is only on paper and doesn't matter, right? Fact is, Hindenburg's damage output is nothing special and cannot compare to Des Moines' dpm and thus its actual ability to deal burst damage (which Hindenburg only can catch up on at ranges where it can reliably use its torps). And with less reason to seek engagements with other cruisers, you basically get a ship that spams HE at long range, which might cause some damage, but doesn't really have any impact and leaves the ship with one of the worst winrates.

Des Moines is worse in dpm? It has 275k HE dpm and 490k AP dpm (with improved ricochet angles) vs Hindenburg's 164k and 386k respectively (with lackluster pen at anything but short and medium range vs flat broadside). Hindenburg's HE dpm is so garbage, Des Moines can outperform it with its two front turrets only (183k HE dpm, 327k AP dpm). And don't get me started on fire chance.

Excuse the weeb graphics, but just wanted to showcase this: That's a Jervis, an Akizuki and a Fiji inside the cap and a Yorck on the other side of the cap, all dead and that flank pretty much collapsed, because a Gneisenau went in for the brawl. Secondary specced, within 8 km, these guns take no prisoners. Pretty sure no other silver line BB would've managed to get this done as fast. Colorado might have managed to reach the cap circle from where I spawned (F2). And yes, I ate two torps. Was pretty reckless, but at some point you grow rather confident.

I mean, if it cannot do damage, what's the point of the ship over alternatives? If Hindenburg was especially well-suited vs DDs and cruisers, thus having low hp pool targets, it'd be something else, but the only DD and cruiser where the Hindenburg is the best counter are Khaba and Moskva/Stalingrad. Ship has no radar and very lackluster HE dpm (Roon basically has the absolute worst at its tier after Neptune). Is the ship especially tanky? Frankly, it's average, after we got ships like buffed Moskva and Stalingrad and ever more ships that don't give a damn about 30 mm plating. Hindenburg and Roon are basically starting to be can openers for 50 mm plating with the occasional lucky broadside that you can actually still pen (not too angled or too far away).

Hindenburg is worth more than Kurfürst. A good bit more.
