But you only need 14 pts for IFHE and CE. They aren't really stupidly OP. They are a real threat to cruisers if they manage to smoke up or sit behind an island and gun you down, but in the open, Germans, French, Japanese and Russians have the ballistics to gun you down and USN and Russians have radar. And for effective kiting, most of these DDs lack the maneuverability. Harekaze with it's more DD-like handling can at times pull it off vs USN CLs (and their mortar ballistics), but Harugumo certainly can't. On the upside, these ships help make German BBs slightly more relevant again. -
Ah, I see OP has found a new ship to whine about after faling to grasp how to play it properly. And no amount of arguing will convince them that it is not the ship's fault. Honestly, why do you bother creating these threads if you don't give a f**k about other opinions and why do people bother responding?

I stated I throw them regardless of indicator at where I suspect enemies might be (at least when the torps arrive) with Sims and that the aiming indicator is pretty pointless, because the fewest ships stay on course for this long. Occasionally, yes, they do, but very rarely. In most ships with decent torps, no, that's a bit silly, but with Sims, you can, because noone cares about the torps and you reload them within 72 seconds or so anyway. So, you pointed out it doesn't work save for some circumstances, one of which is what you replied to. -

With radar and very high evasion ships, I actually at times get like 100% evasion chance. That makes ambush better than air attack. -

I do watch pretty much most of Flamu's content (and voted German BBs exactly for that moment), but I do disagree with him on this ship. For the most part, the issue with the Gneisenau is that it isn't your typical Nagato, where you have your reliable guns and play your standard BB action. Flamu has a bias towards accurate guns though. Reminds me, he doesn't have Harekaze, so I'll never hear him tell me whether it's OP or not. It'll likely always be evaluated as that gimmicky Kagero. Waiting for LWM, who said she'd reevaluate the ship sometime.

That's an issue with Hood. The defAA only affects the rockets(which get an insane x25 multiplier), but for one, these rockets are very short ranged and also, they have almost no hp. Get hit by an HE shell and they die. Hood often will lose all its rocket AA and then the defAA is useless. Hood's remaining AA is pretty bad too. -

None of the battleships befitting that style are entirely incapable of tanking BB fire of their tier though. Even ships like Ashitaka, Dunkerque, etc can tank some of their same tier peers and certainly can tank the lower tiers. Not just bow-in (in fact most of them suck at bowtanking), but also by angling. Unless the enemy is dumb enough to shoot your belt and not just overmatch your upper belt or deck or still snipe the bow, Kronshtadt will only tank with a high hp pool that quickly gets depleted. Kronshtadt is about as comparable to BBs as Graf Spee is, tier for tier. The point made was that Ishizuchi is less affected by high initial shell velocity, because it loses it fast. Kronshtadt doesn't.

A BB with 25 mm armour and insane citadel size at T9 is not much of a BB. Battleships have to step up and tank for a push and Kronshtadt is nowhere near a BB in this regard. The only thing worse is an uptiered Ashitaka. Disregards vertical dispersion which is what actually is so horrendous on both ships, due to high muzzle velocity.

I just throw them at where I guess enemies might be, because at 9 km, betting on a target continuing on its course for that long is sketchy and I torp pretty much on reload. I consider them area denial seamines. -

They are not the same guns though. Graf spee uses an older version of the 28 cm guns. Except that Graf Spee is more accurate, because Graf Spee gets the large cruiser base dispersion, which is inbetween cruiser and BB, while Scharnhorst gets German BB base dispersion. That 0.1 sigma difference does not outweigh such a significant base dispersion difference. As today's dispersion video shows, base dispersion can make a whole lot of difference. -

My guess: Torp lead is much greater than gun lead. Way more often you find yourself pointing way off of the ship you are aiming at and if it would autoswitch to something else in that general direction, it'd mess up the whole indicator. -

Ran into @Estaca_de_Bares twice. Sadly always on the enemy team. Never with proper matchmaking. First game was with CVs too long in the queue, so it was 2 T8 CVs vs largely T7 and T6 enemies on 6 or 7 strong teams. Playing Shinonome, this wasn't a great prospect. Neither was the second game. I would guess you had about as much "fun" as I had. -

No. But it also doesn't make much sense. Bayern vs Warspite. QE is 2m worse than Warspite and 1.8 sigma. Noone's ever going to say that Bayern has better dispersion though. -

Vertical dispersion is how much the shell may over or undershoot the target. French are notoriously bad at this value (as are Germans) for the simple reason that their shells are so fast. Higher velocity means flatter trajectories, which causes greater vertical dispersion, while with slow shells (American shell or Yamato shells compared to Republique) the shells will basically just come straight down at max range and likely hit around where you aimed. That's one of the boons of slow shells and is a reason why yamato is the better sniper. Republique still is the greater cruiser counter, because high shell velocity reduces reaction time. -

Met @Max_Kammerer in their Fiji. Sorry mate, I know it was a misplay by me to smoke up and not spot in my Yuugumo at one point. Though I doubt that was what cost us the game. But I know I potatoed there. Wanted to HE spam the Massachusetts to make sure it died after eating the torp and Fiji can't set fires. But for a T7, you did do your best, got a compliment. Thanks for your efforts. -

afaik, It had that armour pre-line split, but got ported with it to T8. But might be wrong (in when it got the armour. Ingame model definitely says 27 mm).
