    Duca d' Aosta

Because it's crap? It's basically an Aosta with worse AP performance, only 2 guns more, same crap torps, a repair party but a citadel that makes it extremely easy to delete before you can use it. Same abysmal fire chance. Aosta can actually try compete with Dallas and Leander, Abruzzi is utterly outclassed by Helena and Fiji.

    Duca d' Aosta

Bought this ship, pretty lulzy. T6 cruiser premiums are always kind of sketchy, given MM, but Duca is ok imo. It certainly isn't something like Perth that in skilled hands can be insane for T6, but it works quite well. Works great vs DDs. I just wondered, do people think IFHE is worth it on the ship? I frankly have my doubts. I usually just fire AP at targets I cannot pen (thanks to high velocity and short range, it usually stays effective), or HE into the superstructure. IFHE would really hurt the fire chance and I wondered if 4 pts might not be better used elsewhere. Considered PT, AR, DE, CE, AFT, SI, EL, DCCA a better build maybe? As I guess any Italian cruiser line would transition to CAs at T7 at latest, it might likely work for that too. Or what are other people's thoughts?

    American cruiser tier 8-10

If you'd be shooting with guns larger than 38 cm, you can pretty much bow citadel the USN CAs. From the side, pretty much any BB can. One of the worst citadels at T10, imo.
  4. Well, Acasta shares the concealment, has worse torp ability, is slower and only outshines the Jianwei in ability to maneuver and some firepower, that still doesn't get it to ranks of Nicholas, Podvoisky or Gremyaschy.
  5. I voted Bretagne, because you neglect one critical issue: If I queue in a Bretagne, I'm basically cueing in a ship that is just straight up worse than all alternatives and my opponent might get a GC or Kongo or any BB that actually is useful matched against me. If I queue in an Emerald, my opponent gets their own T5 cruiser... but in T5 ranked, cruisers are the least relevant class of them all and the difference in power between a "good" T5 cruiser and an Emerald needs less compensation by the rest of the team. Also, Bogue was not an option.

Ranked Sprint Kamikaze (R) Captain Build help

I'd likely take 1.5k hp over another smoke and engine boost. Personally, I'd go PM, LS, AR, TAE, BFT (or SE), CE, RPF though. Apart from second 3 pt skill it's pretty straightforward imo, with BFT increasing dpm a bit, SE increasing the hp. Likely SE is better, as it's about 13% or so increase in hp, while the other is an 11% increase in firepower and SE helps against getting blapped by things other than DDs, while the increased gunpower is mostly useful for putting down other DDs if you really have to.

    Need help with Amagi

French are faster. Who else at T8? Because that's 2. Scharnhorst has 2.0 sigma, Amagi has 1.8. What are you expecting? If you want a better comparison, Amagi vs Bismarck. Covering Amagi isn't terribly exciting. It's the oldest T8 BB, hasn't been changed in a good while, so no novelty there. It's also not one of the ships that very many people struggle with, so, people trying to make guides focus on ships that have a worse reputation.

    DISSAPEARING SHIPS...(BUG?)

I only ever tried to complain in chat that I'm sad there were no CVs for my defAA on Loyang. Seems too obvious, I guess...

Lets talk Republique... The French Tier X BB

Yes, because the secondary battery doesn't make up for main battery. You can use Legendary Upgrade though for best of both worlds at the cost of range.

CV rework - are they going to start at T6?

Also Ishizuchi is a ship that basically suffers from crap AA as one factor to keep it in line. Yay, a CV that is crappier, but gets more of the silly Fighter consumables. Absolutely worth it... Honestly, this CV rework is to limit the utility of CVs and somehow people think in the new narrow range of "rewarding" things a CV can do, you can fit two different CV lines that are different in gameplay.
  13. Nagato already was not the most frontline BB, unless matched against a bunch of ships that cannot overmatch it, due to how easy it is to damage. Nagato after the change will be slightly easier to damage, but never would I expect a Nagato to be able to just lolnegate most hits to the degree you can in something like an actually armoured Gneisenau if you don't get shot in the superstructure. A Nagato tanking already is basically trying to only take chip damage and just survive it by having the second highest hp pool at T7 (highest among the tech tree ships at 65k, vs 67k on Hood. This hp pool is comparable to T8 BBs). And don't tell me 10% instead of 33% or 100% isn't a "massive reduction" still. Lastly, people should note that WG stated that should they notice any significant changes in survivability of certain ships, they'll be working on these cases, so if it does get out of hand, I do expect that it'll be fixed. I don't usually have much faith in WG, but this time, compared to CV rework or subs, this is a more simple matter, they from the start stated they keep an eye out on fixing crap and it's about BBs. Last time changes in interaction of AP and armour caused a significant loss of BB survivability, that stuff was fixed pretty fast.
  14. 10% damage hits on the torp belt still are going to be better than 33% damage hits on the rest of the ship. And ships with flatter trajectories, like Russians still can just aim for upper belt if they are close enough to not have shells fall on deck. Though at the point where shell arcs get flat, you can just load AP. yes, this is a survivability nerf. But from what we know so far, nothing indicates that it is severe and the end of the world as we know it. Taking AP on the belt will still be the preferred Nagato tactic, as it's 10% damage, like a superstructure overpen (which any decent person could achieve already anyway). Better than a bow or upper belt overmatch for 33% damage. At the end of the day though... Nagato just isn't a very well armoured ship to begin with. Take something that actually was capable of tanking AP for days, like a Gneisenau and you see, this change doesn't really impact the ship.

Interaction of large-caliber AP shells with DDs

For one, you never looked at IJN HE values, did you? Or most of the HE values. I guess you know French are the only line except RN that sometimes seems to credibly pull HE spam off, so the HE must be good. Sadly though, French HE is basically no better than USN against DDs, because the only thing French have going for them is decent fire chance and a lot of barrels on some tiers. And fire chance is useless for killing rushing DDs. Also, spec into secondaries and rushing DDs will get wrecked. Just like you spec into AA and CVs will have a much harder time countering you. If only cruisers could spec into something to keep them alive against its counter, except for PT and IFA to know when you are being shot at, with no real means to avoid getting hit except trying to dodge. And if you buff secondaries you can be sure, noone wants to get into secondary range of others. Very aggressive gameplay. Already now you might want to reconsider running into secondary range of Germans, French and Massachusetts. Kurfürst is likely the one T10 BB that when played well is hardest to rush and kill by DDs and certainly by cruisers, where it becomes nigh impossible unless the Kurfürst messes up.
  16. For one, an IFHE Helena is perfectly able to spam a Nagato to death already now, given, no, you don't need to carefully aim for anything, USN ballistics mean that at any decent range you hit the upper belt, deck and superstructure and it's 25 mm or less everywhere. That torp belt does sh*t all to defend against HE spam in practice. Same deal for others. Next, no, the 32 mm treshold is not why you need IFHE. In fact, IFHE becomes valuable as soon as T6, because without it, 152 mm guns cannot go through 25 mm armour of BBs and higher tier cruisers. Without IFHE, you'd be shattering on the entire hull of a Mogami or Chapayev or the midsection of Furutaka. Lastly, it's nice you understand the need the for overpens when you lack HE pen. Maybe consider that there exist ships in this game where for all practical intents and purposes, you basically can only farm superstructure and a few spots on the deck? (Nikolai, Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya, most of the German BB line) Even IFHE won't get you through 50 mm Kurfürst deck, unless you are Henri IV.

Interaction of large-caliber AP shells with DDs

Most DDs spam HE not because IFHE lets them pen everything but because they likely don't have the pen to go through anything other than superstructure with either ammo anyway and fires are a better source of damage. Several DDs like any IJN 10 cm gun or the German line have actual incentive to learn when to switch to AP, though in general good DDs would know. A DD that works other ships over with HE where it rather should use AP is basically throwing out damage potential like a BB that just shoots AP at DDs post-fix and sure, sooner or later the target might still die, but when time is of the essence, sticking to the right ammo is critical. For both classes. Oh, sure, when caught in close range in a Cleveland vs anything that isn't a DD, feel free to continue HE spamming. Certainly, there is no difference between 5k HE salvos and potential devstrike due to citpens. And even against BBs where you might not stand a chance of citpenning, a Helena does maybe 6k in an IFHE salvo, over 10k in an AP salvo and when you are in a brawl with a BB, trying to outrun the turrets, I tell you, you don't have the leisure to just load the HE and work with that. Even more valid if the target is German and you actually can only pen the superstructure or very bow and stern with HE.

Interaction of large-caliber AP shells with DDs

Please sell the ship and go play something else. Thanks. Sorry, but 38 cm guns are still good enough to matter at T10 and your HE is terrible. Any other T8 BB is better at HE spamming than you (ok, dunno about Roma stats, and too lazy to look it up), but none of the T8s really have to spam HE. Or how do you think Kronshtadt manages to matter in high tier games with 305s? Not by spamming HE. Honestly, why the hell are you complaining about WG encouraging terrible play when seemingly WG didn't need to do anything to make you engage in this horrid and frankly ineffective playstyle by yourself?
  19. Yeah, but Shchors isn't some USN cruiser, it is a Soviet cruiser with terrible handling, terrible survivability and no radar or shell arcs that call for getting close. Shchors is the first ship, where I found premium spotter plane extremely valuable, because you can go to mid range against cruisers and DDs, but against BBs, getting as much range as possible is the best defense and the only one if you are ever left alone vs a BB.
  20. 600 m more range is no minor thing on a cruiser with this playstyle.
  21. For 500 Euro, that thing comes with custom flags for both ships, 10 pt commanders for both ships, the necessary mods and a bunch of signal flags. Also two port slots.
  22. Note, this also changes her secondaries, reducing the main secondary armament by 33% in quantity and upping caliber to 127 mm. against BBs, it'd be a nerf, against DDs it's a buff without IFHE, a nerf with, against cruisers it's a nerf without IFHE, a buff against light cruisers with IFHE.
  23. Ouch, those 10% pens sure hurt a lot. I mean, come on. What ships are getting affected here? Amagi? New Mexico? Colorado? Ships that already ate HE pens for days everywhere else and now have a large section where instead of 0 damage pens, they eat 10% damage pens. Not to mention, most HE spam lands on the deck anyway, unless you derp them from short range, in which case, that spam won't last long. Meanwhile sturdy ships like the Germans or Hood barely have torp bulges that are affected. As long as the change is not yet in testing and nothing shows that these pens will actually do full pen damage and not 10% as advertised, it's way too early to complain.
  24. See, that's the thing. People will sit there wondering "Well, who cares about a Shchors that has single launch 4 km torps? When you use them, you sure don't have the time for those antics." instead of wondering how a Shchors with better range and better hp is justified. Also slightly better concealment by 100 metres or so, but who cares. The rudder shift is a second worse, the turning radius 10 m better, the citadel protection cannot be worse than Shchors and while the single file is effectively stupidly useless, you do get 3 torps instead of 4 per side, but with more damage per torp and "only" 65 knots instead of 70.
