    Lest We Forget.

Yet, there actually exist historians that do consider the situation to have been an unfortante series of events, but by no means with an inevitable outcome. See for example "The Sleepwalkers" by Christopher Clark, which I already brought up earlier. That war broke out in 1914 was not some inevitable thing to happen, had there not been any incident, the time would have passed and the whole situation would likely have rearranged itself. It's a fair stance, imo. Just because someone died for a flag doesn't make them a hero, regardless of what else they did. Especially given that unlike Wehrmacht conscription soldiers, Waffen-SS certainly were not people who had no choice. As a citizen of a former Axis country, this is reminiscient of the debate that comes up every so often, whether one should honour deserters in WWII, given some argue that these people basically resisted and opted out of a war of aggression the only way they could, while others argue that they were just cowards abandonning their comrades and patriotic duties to save their hide.

    Buff German secondary damage?

105s shoot HE. If they shot AP, they'd at least do direct damage sometimes. Currently 105s in T8+ only set fires. The AP to HE change typically affects mostly calibers that can pen DDs anyway (including Yamato 155s) and the reason behind that is to make it so that if people spec into secondaries at mid tiers actually get something out of these guns. While I doubt it really will make secondary build recommendable on ships like Nagato, at the very least with the change, a DD cannot just angle against most of them, but would just get shredded when in range. Overall, I'd consider the whole matter not of too great importance though, because the BBs where secondary builds made sense before (Germans and French mostly) already fired HE and any BB where secondaries fired most AP weren't in a good spot for these builds to begin with, due to things like limited range, RoF and what other skills might be recommendable. Thinking about it, the BBs where this might have the largest impact on are low-tier Germans, as you can work on secondary spec throughout grinding up to higher tiers, without losing out too much. König still has worse secondaries than Iron Duke, but hey, at least it's no longer pointless. Would only take aFT though, no Manual secondaries, due to the limited usefulness below T7. The only German T7s with 105s are Yorck and Scharnhorst. cruisers don't run secondary builds and Scharnhorst has torps. Tech tree Gneisenau has 128s, which are, imo, the best secondary guns in the game and Gneisenau tier for tier is the best secondary BB (and brawler) in the game. T7 suffering from 105 issues is very very limited...

    USN BBs need buffs

I have Texas, I don't have Arizona. Bought Texas heavily discounted. I'd not buy either of them at full price, because I have a very negative opinion on both New York and New Mexico, so I don't consider a premium version that much better. Meanwhile Kii is similar to Amagi, which is an actually good BB and the added AA is maybe only worthwhile when you see a CV, but when you do, it's worth a lot. Also, some of the most valuable AA is on the 10 cm mounts, which typically don't just die as easily, unless you take a very heavy pounding. Not everyone buys Kii for AA (most people I would think don't even look up what they buy before they buy it), but I'd consider buying Kii for the AA a valid point, because it adresses one of the Amagi's greatest vulnerabilities and makes the Kii a quite reliable performer under most circumstances. Torpedoes are interesting too, but on IJN BBs, torpedoes are kind of an afterthought, as this is no Tirpitz. You shouldn't try to brawl everyone you see. Your armour does not hold up for that. They are good for estimating target speed to give enough lead though... I would say, don't buy premiums for captain training. Use elite captain exp. You can use premiums for money grinding, but then you should likely use T9 premiums or T7, as T8 can earn money, but you'd be thrown against T10 and the only reason to play a T8 for money over T7, imo, is if you use Kobayashi camo on Kii or Roma for the extra credits (but if you wanted a Kobayashi camo ship without regard of what the base ship is, Ashitaka has a Kobayashi camo and is T7). At least as far as BBs are concerned. DD-wise, T8 is fine. Cruiser-wise, 7 or 9. Or you buy a T10 permacamo... Also, buffing the RoF to a more normal 30 seconds might affect surroundings, but only because the ship is stronger. Buffing its armour does the same though, just in other ways. And in regards to dealing damage, they are kind of ok, but only because they are mid-tier BBs. In contrast to other BBs, they can be at best passable, at worst crap. New Mexico basically has the worst dpm of all the T6 regular BBs that have 356 mm guns (not comparing to T6s with 38 cm guns that can just lolpen anything in return for lower dpm). And not even just a negligible difference, given Normandie is 30 second reload, so over 10% better, Fuso is 28 second reload, so almost 20% better. Of the premium BBs, the only ships with small guns and worse dpm are Dunkerque and upcoming PEF. Both are questionable in their competitive strength. Lastly, Warspite is different from QE and not by a small bit. 2.0 sigma instead of 1.8 and actual AP, not short-fuze AP make Warspite one of the best T6 BBs there is.

Yet people buy Kii when Amagi is free and the main selling point of Kii over Amagi is the added AA. In exchange the guns are less accurate, traverse slower and have longer reload. This at T8, where premiums cost a good bit more than T6 or T5 premiums.

    Buff German secondary damage?

105s at T8+ cannot even pen DDs, which shows how crap they are.

Not really, at 3 km, any AP comes pretty much straight in, so all that matters is AP pen and accuracy. Accuracy at 3 km is basically same for all CA and AP pen is sufficient on any cruiser to pen a Cleveland at 3 km. If you manage to kill a Cleveland in training room with any other CA, but not Hindenburg, guess you magically shot at the right spot with others, not at the right spot with Hindenburg. For reference, Cleveland citadel is here. As you see, it is not large and does not extend much above the waterline. Edit: Personal testing:
  7. Yes they were and are pretty decent now. On another note, the cruiser plating changes are interesting and I really wonder how they'll pull that off, but having many mid-tier CAs be able to tank shells like currently mostly just T10 (and the odd T8 and T9) can would certainly help survivability of the class, which I don't consider a bad thing. On the other hand, this does raise the question what would happen to ships which currently already are balanced around that survivability. Together with the cruiser HE pen changes, I think that this'll necessitate a major rethinking of KM cruisers (the line where T8-10 basically is balanced around such things as being able to tank a good few BBs and being able to pen 50 mm plating. If any CA can do that, what will these cruisers get to actually stand out?)
  8. Maybe when you started the game. When I started this game, there was USN vs IJN and the highest tier premium was, I think, Atlanta at T7. Not to say that this isn't high enough already, but Tirpitz certainly has not been there for all game (and I don't think it was the first T8 premium. To my memory, at least Atago precedes it and might have been the first).

As I just grinded through NY, I'd say, give the ship some better deck and upper belt armour. New Mexico too. New york kind of has been in a terrible place ever since König, but I don't know why people consider New Mexico fine. 34.2 seconds on 12 non-overmatching shells on a hull with no HE protection and 21 knots already stinks vs Fuso (28 seconds reload!), but with the likes of Normandie joining it gets really bad as you basically are matched against ships that are faster and better protected or which have overmatch to lolpen you through the bow or upper belt. Thinking about it, bringing the reload on NY and NM down to a normal 30 seconds would be nice too. That these poor ships get matched vs T7 and T8 all the time where you can just hope that something like Amagi-senpai won't notice you with its 10 guns you cannot angle against obviously doesn't help, but that's an issue with MM, not with in-tier balance. Colorado and up I never played, but Colorado at least gets the 406 mm guns, so there's something. NC and Iowa already look pretty decent, dunno why these ships need buffs. Wyoming? Why? On FdG, the ship is utter trash. At the very least, buff turret angles. The secondaries are garbage, the main battery is unreliable, the armour is ok, but if you want to stay angled against a target, 4 guns is all you get. I invested 100k free exp just to get out of this. Izumo is miles better. Don't know what buffs it needs, except maybe moving the rudder shift improvement to B hull. 26 seconds rudder shift unless you free exp two hulls with 100k exp inbetween them is just retarded (honestly, the only buff I could understand on Iowa, given Iowa also suffers from having one extra hull). The new deck makes this ship almost tankier than Yamato tier for tier and the guns... I have no idea why people hate them. They fly quite reliably, they have massive pen, you get at least 6 in front when you need to angle in and you can kite with 9. Compared to FdG, this ship was just awesome. Myogi? Uhm, why? Like, this ship already has a good hp pool for T4 (trademark of most low to mid tier IJN BB), is incredibly fast, has a workable AA for T4, has fast turret traverse for a BB and while it has 6 guns, these guns have a massive caliber and 2.0 sigma. Since the sigma buff, this ship felt (insofar as I tested it. Didn't invest too much time lately, because I got better things to do than sealclub) very reliable and powerful. In a T4 Ranked (no, this is no serious suggestion), the only ship this ship would not be my recommended pick is because Imperator Nikolai and Ishizuchi exist, but Myogi would absolutely be a good budget pick. I really don't know what WG wants to change here? Buff speed to 35 knots? Increase sigma to 2.65? Honestly, the ship needs no buffs, but given they announced one, I hope it's only a change from Type 5 shells to Type 91.

    Lest We Forget.

The only reason Austrians care about it is because it's the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Well, the government and intelectuals care. Most people here don't, I'd think. I recommend the book The Sleepwalkers by Christopher Clark on the subject of the July crisis. It's a very interesting read and well-researched.

    Will *edited* my account

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind not finding a silly thread every so often filled with whining how a perfectly usable ship is utter crap, because he is unable to play it. Then proceeds to *edited* anyone giving advice and calling them "WG trolls". Waste of forum space...

Good DD players - Asashio - yes or no?

While I'm not going to up my evaluation of Asashio overall, the ship will actually benefit from IJN gun buffs, which will (finally) make people claiming that the ship has a heavy punch not just sound silly. The ship will still have low dpm and not great hp and hardly any cruiser will give a damn about your DD gun alpha (given you cannot pen most cruisers without IFHE, which noone takes on IJN torp botes), but it will have a slightly easier time killing low-hp DDs.

    T8 Matchmaking...

    Sure...
  16. It might be a good brawler. But that doesn't mean it needs garbage range. Even supposed Hindenburg gets its reload back or better pen or god knows what, you aren't going to outbrawl a Republique and you certainly wouldn't want to stick too close to a Yamato either. As long as Hindenburg handles like half a BB and has mediocre concealment anyway. Not to mention, long range HE spam in Hindenburg is... questionable. Kinda like asking to nerf range GK, because it's a brawler and people could play it with range mod and spotter plane and snipe from half the map away. Just because some morons play like that as their standard approach doesn't mean the very option of keeping range should be thrown out the window (especially given as long as this ship isn't going to reliably force and win brawls, you'd turn it into the GK of cruisers, geared towards one thing which is situational and sometimes outperformed even in that area).

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

Uh oh... If this is for real, I guess Ajax gets competition...
  18. I wouldn't nerf the range. As it is, the range makes it kind of playable with reload mod. If you need range mod, that'd equate another dpm nerf in such a case and that's hardly what the ship needs.

    T8 Matchmaking...

Only T8 premiums worth something atm are good premium DDs.

    Tech Tree not updated

Also wrong that you can never see mod options and consumable options without having a ship. Given just from port stats, you would never guess why a ship like Belfast is OP.

Hindenburg Nerf - An conceptual failure

The main issue here is that the game introduced a lot of designs which can throw out a lot of dpm with way too little regard for armour, making some armour count for little if most folks don't give a crap. Same reason Hipper is still in a crap spot, because who cares about your 27 mm armour in a T10 game? Playing a Chapa or Cleve with strengths that survive the tier gap is a much better deal. If Republique wouldn't exist, it'd already be a way better world for Hindenburg (given that the high-dpm cruisers at least typically don't just delete the ship and Yamato has way slower shells). You can sit behind the island and use all guns, tbh. If you are hiding from Republique, there's no difference whether you present your front only, sit at an angle or give perfect broadside, so you basically can park behind the island in any way that allows you to use all your guns and not be spotted.

Hindenburg Nerf - An conceptual failure

Wouldn't call it the tank specialist. Moskva is kind of the better roadblock. Hindenburg still is the kind of ship that has no real specialisation, though it certainly has exchanged its dpm of once for better than average tankiness. Or well, sustain. All your heals don't help you if a Repu craps on you and takes out most of your hp with citadels, if it doesn't just oneshot you.
  23. I mean, it's not super special, but it certainly is one significant buff in the torp power of a ship that is more of a gunboat. It has after all still 4x2 main guns with improved turret traverse. I doubt it'll be OP, but I didn't know the ship was suffering too much.
  24. IJN buffs are nice, secondary changes make sense, Hindenburg/Roon buff I am not sure about. I might still keep SI, also as I don't play the ship with LU, so fires do take their toll at times. Torp bulge changes, well, guess the world won't be ending, even if I didn't think this would've caused it. Lulziest change though: 66 seconds? It might be only one launcher, but goddamn.

    Old IJN dds are fine?

Well, the new buff will be fun, giving IJN DDs back the IJN-typical increased HE alpha and fire chance. It won't make them op, but any buff to dealing with enemy DDs is a welcome one.
