The Azuma (The Poor Man's Stalingrad)

I'm skeptical on it, because of the emote and because if it had Zao's dispersion, the value would be about 50 m below what was stated in her announced stats. The stated value is far more in line with the intermediate dispersion of Graf Spee and Stalingrad than Zao, though it naturally doesn't have Stalingrad's vertical dispersion (by virtue of not having its shell velocity, but that also means it does not have the insane pen and Stalingrad has 2.65 sigma to make up for it, while Azuma has 2.0 sigma).
  3. Because it certainly won't be a cruiser killer with its sub-20 km concealment that beats most cruisers it meets. It now is a ship that basically is kind of frustrating to play, but also frustrating to play against as a cruiser. Because for all the times where you find yourself spotted by some DD anyway and get pummeled by T4 BBs (or T5s...) with your T3 hp pool and speed and the lulziest of accuracies, there will be times when you surprise a cruiser from 10 km away and either get a citpen or outright murder it. And I find it a bit silly to pretend that absurd concealment justifies a main battery that doubles up on frustrating by combining German dispersion with 1.5 sigma (even Wyoming gets at least normal base dispersion, while Kaiser gets 1.8 sigma). VU basically can suck like German BBs, without getting any strengths, like turtleback or faster reload. ffs, even Orion with its 1.6 sigma can pretty much just demolish this ship. You don't have to compare VU to OP T4 premium BBs to see the issues, though obviously doing so just makes it look even worse. Honestly, without the lulzy concealment, this ship makes almost a better T3 with those stats than König Albert.
  4. Bump. Also, the cold season is coming.

Good DD players - Asashio - yes or no?

There also is Harekaze at 5.4 km, which got not only torps, but also guns. Cossack also has 5.5 and unlike Lightning it's fast and has speed boost.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Decided to play to do all the directives I left untouched over the last week and met @Linkaex in their Iowa, while playing my new Edinburgh. I seem to mostly meet people on the enemy team.

14 pnt capt bismarck (Secondary build) Advice

Yes, it does. Without manual secondaries, you hit about half as many shells. Realistically, you only get the same value out of your secondaries without the skill if you have at least two secondary targets, one on each side. Needless to say, this is not exactly the positioning any BB should aim for and in any situation where you kept all enemies on one side to angle effectively, you are losing out a lot. I'd argue that Manual Secondaries for secondaries is the much more crucial skill than AFT (at least on T7 and above).

14 pnt capt bismarck (Secondary build) Advice

I actually use PT, AR, BoS, AFT, ManSec, SI, PM, DCCA for skills. CE is a valid alternative, but so far I found little issue with concealment and I'd rather take the extra tankiness. For modules, I don't use Auxiliary Armaments 1, but Main Armaments 1. Yes, some secondary turrets may die, but often significant losses are due to getting showered in shells and then 100% added hp is not that much. Losing a main gun turret hurts far more overall. And if you use this build for Tirpitz, it helps keep the torp launchers, which are quite exposed, alive.
  9. I mean, if we already have to deal with this crap, I at least want a B-65. I dunno why they opted to give it neither radar (which I expected it to not have) nor torpedoes (which it was designed for and which are a staple on IJN CAs). I'm kind of sceptical on where this ship will end up, balance-wise. For CB for example, I don't see much of a reason for this ship over a more regular cruiser or just bringing a Stalingrad, which has worse concealment but likely better armour and better gun characteristics. Not going to ask for the ship to get onto Stalingrad levels, but why can't it at least have its historically planned torp tubes? Waiting for info on the citadel exposure. With this much freeboard (and machinery to get up to that speed), I expect it to not be small though.
  10. So, I didn't expect Azuma to have radar... but why does it not even get torps?

Some love for the Derpitz maybe?

128 mm secs without IFHE might not hurt BBs much, but the 105s don't even hurt DDs at T9. 28 cm guns also have a harder time dealing with most high tier cruisers, while 8 cm only struggle against heavy cruisers. Chasing T9 BB in your T7 BB is kind of retarded anyway, typically I just play my supporting role, hunting primarly smaller ships or slapping BB broadsides.

Some love for the Derpitz maybe?

Gneisenau needs no buffs. It's among the best in every aspect on its tier except gun count. For T7, it's the tankiest, fastest, best AA, best secondaries (by a mile), torpedoes (!), great turret traverse, great reload, can overmatch. All it lacks is reliable accuracy and a larger number of guns. T5 and T6 already are hard-pressed to deal with this ship, which imo would be also my first pick if I had to play a T7 BB vs T9.
  13. tbf, Hitler became German citizen for much of his later life, but if Viribus Unitis would be released as German ship, I'm officially done with WoWS. And judging by the people who responded to the initial announcement of a Austro-Hungarian ship, there's certainly plenty of Magyars, Czech and other folks who likely do not want to be grouped with the Germans either.
  14. It better will. Otherwise, uninspiring ship, balanced around the one stat WG seem to love using for balancing these days... concealment. In all other regards, it's basically a Wyoming, with 2 sec longer reload and 200 more max AP damage per shell, 1 knot less speed and less hp. Also less range. Pretty sure it also has German dispersion, judging from the dispersion figure. I'd prefer if the concealment wasn't retarded low and instead it would get non-derpy guns.

    Nelson worth fxp?

Yeah, but noone loads HE in Nagato or Colorado. Also, Gneisenau beats Nelson in pen and all these overmatching guns can bow citadel you if you don't watch it.
  16. HaachamaShipping

    Nelson worth fxp?

And half the same tier BBs wreck you if you try to bowtank them. Nelson is a good ship, but what can be more frustrating than the speed, which, imo, is adequate, is the lacking tankiness and the guns are large, but for the caliber have horrid pen.

    How to Kolberg?

Maybe at 3 km vs broadside cruiser/BB?

The most uninteresting tier 10 ship

Yet you replied for 4 pages to replies just to tell them that you don't agree with them and throwing out personal attacks. Maybe you should take the hint that noone agrees with you and go do something else?
  19. HaachamaShipping

    How to Kolberg?

It's not being toxic, if he's justified in pointing out that these are pointless necros, not to mention that he gets notified when people quote him. After all these years, even if your post had been factually correct, it very likely would not have helped him anyway, because noone waits for a response for all these years to play a T3 ship. After 9k battles, one can kind of assume, he either knows how to play this by now or he wouldn't care.

    Bourgogne 88k steel

Thing is, that makes Black a DD killer. But even then, the crap torps make it much harder to use against BB or cruisers compared to a normal Fletcher. Just for economics, I'd much rather spend it on Flint, with its camo, which has better MM, is overall more useful and versatile.

FdG, the most frustrating ship out there

No, it's better to angle just as much that any bow overmatch won't fall into the citadel, but your pretty thick belt is angled enough to bounce shells due to sheer angled thickness.
  22. HaachamaShipping

    Bourgogne 88k steel

The only reason why I'd want this ship for steel would be because no other steel option interests me that much. If Bourgogne isn't steel, only steel ship I'd actually buy would be Flint. Black with its torps sounds too bothersome and to me, WG can shove Stalingrad up where the sun doesn't shine.

Izumo medium damage 288 dmg in 9 AP hits

Izumo has 1.8 sigma. Same as most BBs (1.8 kind of is the standard, with shotguns dropping lower and sniping rifles going higher). What Izumo has, akin to Bismarck (which has also 1.8 sigma) is high shell velocity, causing increased vertical dispersion. What Izumo does not have, unlike Bismarck, is German base dispersion, as it is a Japanese BB, following Japanese dispersion pattern. It thus has much better horizontal dispersion. Izumo has much better gunnery than Friedrich der Große, especially at range.

FdG, the most frustrating ship out there

Applies to all T7- BBs. but it gets thermonuclear HE and an insane dpm value. And no same tier BB has enough armour to not get HE penned by KGV. Citadel is underwater. You basically can only citpen this ship through its bow. Maybe present more angled side. Compared to ships like Nagato or Colorado, KGV isn't really easier to citpen. Slightly more armour = enough armour to only get overmatched by Yamato/Musashi. Not saying Monarch is great, but Monarch basically loses the frontal weakness of the KGV which you complained about and the HE potential you seem to ignore in KGV. Honestly, I highly doubt KGV is "suffering".
