One of the reason Flamu considers the NC to be how BBs should be is because it gets deleted if it gives broadside. Bismarck basically is more idiot proof in that regard, though the existence of a turtleback protecting your citadel still doesn't mean that anything but autobounce angle is great for tanking, as repeatedly losing 20k or so of your hp just from regular pens in the side due to being out of position is still hp thrown away for minimal gain. If you mind your angles, North Carolina is quite tanky too. As for the guns, yes, the shells are floaty. But it's entirely possible to play this ship from 12 km away, fade in and out of vision and see who reacts and who doesn't. North Carolina is obscenely accurate, almost like a T8 Yamato (though Yamato guns at overmatch and have a bit faster shells. Still needs getting used to after Izumo).I recommend that if your target actually dodges, you try to see if there is a pattern to their evasive action, then adjust accordingly (like, if they tend to angle away when you shoot, just raise the sight slightly to adjust for it. If you can fire all 3 guns, you also can fire the three turrets accounting for both possibilities, with one turret just shooting at an alternative course you suspect the target could take. Bismarck's guns are not terrible, but their accuracy is very mediocre and they hit nowhere as hard as the USN 16 inch shells, which only have some competition in the IJN 41 cm gun BBs.

And being good looking is something that few here argue about. The entire debate is about whether the PEF is a ship that can perform as a T6 BB and is competitive in that role and whether the gameplay experience is pleasant or utterly frustrating. Coming here and saying you don't understand what the last seven pages were about and that the ship looks good, so all is well pretty much deserves no better response than the one you were given.

Go print out the promo shots and oogle the 3D model on the wiki then. If looks are all that's important and the ship doesn't need to be played, no need to pay money or grind. There's enough visual content to avoid buying a port queen.

It's a decent ship. Plays like a slightly less consistent Amagi, but with actual AA and a set of torps you might get to use rarely, but better than not having any. Only T8 BB I ever considered buying and it turned out a pleasant experience.

You basically have to absolutely rush them and kill them asap. Losing 1 regiment is pretty much a given, but if the Myokos are left alone, they'll kill the regiments easily and even if they don't, they'll reduce them to a state where the few DDs that join in finish the job. Frankly, I'd recommend a Cleve or Edinburgh just to have the hydro to get through the DDs without having to worry too much about the torps, but then ranged dpm to kill those Myokos for other ships. Thankfully, they have 32 mm deck. If these things had one of those 40+ mm IJN decks, it'd be absolutely impossible to do get that star. And I think it was just not considered.

To be fair, the AA is not decent, for T6 it's outright ridiculous when fully specced into. And the accuracy is pretty ok and not a downside. Also, citadelling ships at close range is possible. Done it to PEF at 7 km, Fuso and Mutsu in brawls, heck, I citpenned a Montana in the training room from 2 km. Not an accomplishment and at range you'd struggle to citpen a BB, but to say it won't even get citadels at close range I'd contest. Other than that though, yeah. It is likely the worst premium BB around. Mikasa might be worse, if it wasn't the sole BB at its tier.

Honestly, I find these changes less terrible than the changes that just happen on the side due to global changes. Like Raptor Rescue Myogi at the start having a slight uptick in its ability to cripple if not outright oneshot cruisers that underestimate the increased 2.0 sigma (going from 6 gun derpy roadkill to an actual threat to your team's cruisers if they don't watch it), or the increased rate at which the Myokos murder the regiments in Cherry Blossom due to the improved accuracy.

Rumors have also been put forward that WG tampers with MM to screw over certain individuals for no apparant reason, that streamers get better RNG, that Flamu's video gives better drops and that climate change is just a Chinese hoax to weaken the Western manufacturing base. I'd put more thought into what the chances are you'd get what you want, how satisfied you'd be with other content you might get and based on that on how disposable that money is without having regrets if there'd be no ship.

Tbf, T8 BB still play very much like a BB, not like a cruiser. Of course some Amagi or Kii is not a Yamato, but it still is a much more effective anchor to establish map control than even a Hindenburg for example. All BB Hindenburg or BB Moskva jokes aside.

If I missed something it's Pan-Am. If so, yes, 5. Hard to keep track when there's so many directives. But between PEF and Kobayashi Kii/Musashi, that makes that part jokingly easy then.

Imo, the best crew trainer is a ship you find fun to play and that allows you to get a 19 pt captain to get elite captain exp. And Sims is a case where I'd be reluctant to recommend it. It can be great fun, but only if you accept that the ship has some serious shortcomings and are actually interested in the few things she does reasonably well. Sims has defAA, but I'd not argue that losing it would kill the ship, because while AA Sims is lulzy, I mostly use that just to avoid getting molested by CVs in my lolibote when CVs are present or to snipe spotter planes. If defAA becomes useless, sims would still get engine boost and Sims even without engine boost is a very fast and most of all agile ship. Sims with propulsion mod rivals RN DDs in agility, but with much better speed and can dodge quite well. For D knifefights, she's thus pretty nice and you can at times harass larger ships, though I'd not expect them to give much of a damn, as the shelling at range mostly is just annoying, but hardly effective. The torpedoes are two choices of frankly awful torps, with either suicide range and bad damage/speed or long range and even worse damage and speed. Like, those long range torps don't even go into 5 digit damage potential. What Sims also does well is team support, as you can lay great US smokes and personally, you don't really need them, as there's little point in just spamming something with your guns, compared to just trying to get somewhere else, spot, cap, throw out a few torps (the reload on them is ok)... If you have smoke, defAA, use your agility and speed to make up for concealment and go for the cap fights, the ship can do a lot to help others win the match and thus help you win the match and while it usually is an ungrateful job, Sims gets a higher base exp to make up for it. I mostly would argue Sims is awesome if you play in divs. For solo-play, I'd really rather get the Monaghan or get a different nation, like Z-39, Haida, T-61 or indeed a different ship type like Scharnhorst.

Played my T8 German cruisers, because 200% win bonus is a nice time to get commander exp. I dunno what it is with Prinz Eugen. It just gives me decent games. It isn't a good ship, but it's still better than Hipper. Careful, very weeb... (not joking) Sadly our CV got assassinated by the two DDs, but balanced button on AA spec helped a lot. Then played Hipper and while most of the times the ship's just frustrating, I actually got some decent results for once. It's not every day though that you get enemies that give you broadside to be AP farmed. Is this the power of my new Tsun Hipper flag?

Damn, those 4 km Chapayev torps sure are useful. Frankly, some T8 cruisers have torpedoes, only three can launch from stealth, only 5 have enough torps on one side to oneshot a BB with it. Hardly any of the T8 cruisers get a repair party, which means they will lose any extented fight with upper tier cruisers and any mistake that gets punished sticks. Only two premiums and Edinburgh are an exception and the Edinburgh basically takes BB AP hits about as well as Nürnberg does. Meanwhile, if we look at T8 BBs, pretty much all have the armour to bounce AP shells, They all have main batteries that are lethal and no, range is not an issue. In regards to range, the only T10s where you get vastly more range on the T10 than on the T8 are Yamato vs Amagi and Conqueror vs Monarch. And in Amagi's case it's just because Yamato has silly long range, which for the Yamato is nice, but: No decent BB player plays there ship at max range and an effective BB at high tier is always within 15 km of the opponent. You simply have an abysmal hitrate at max range and cannot establish effective map control. A Yamato firing from 20+ km is far less of an issue than one firing from actually 12 km. And that's the Yamato. A Montana firing from 20+ km at a North Carolina that isn't broadside basically is a non-issue. In the few cases where it's your T8 vs the T10, concealment restricts ranges, as you aren't getting spotted from max range. If you look at something like a North Caroline for example, the T10 Montana basically has 30k more hpp, one more gun turret, some more AA. Both bounce each other when angled, both have the same vulnerable citadel where they can get deleted by salvos that pen the belt at the centre of the ship. Both also have the same 38 mm midsection plating that shatters HE that hits there. Mogami certainly would wish it was anywhere near as capable as a goddamn Zao and not just devstrike-waiting-to-happen because it's the odd IJN CA that gets no reinforced deck.

It was said these guns would be at home at T9. Sure, you can hurt T9s with the guns. A Nagato does it better though. And the guns at T9 would have maybe good fire chance, but they lack the AP pen to be consistently good against T9s. Basically, the reason why people don't mind HE spamming in Nelson in a T9 match is because it'd be a bottom tier BB that noone expects to do pull much anyway, so doing decent damage at all is often already enough to beat what other T7s accomplish. But if a T9 as top or mid tier was relegated to the usage of HE to make up for crappy pen, then that'd be a waste of a top tier BB. You can't use these guns as a replacement for for example Izumo guns or Iowa guns or even Lion guns.

We are still recruiting. And in case anyone wondered: With Yuudachi announced, it will not become a requirement to own one. It certainly won't be frowned upon though.

It doesn't need much effort to get 50%+ as long as you have a brain, the will to try and an ability to properly reflect on your own actions.

I say only suckers use HE as the main ammunition type. Yes, it has 46% fire chance. But it also is 40.6 cm caliber. You overmatch any T7 BB and certainly every cruiser except IJN troll decks. There's absolutely no reason to have HE loaded most of the time, unless vs T8s and T9s that can angle against you. And at T7, Nelson's AP is decent at all ranges, as it overmatches at all ranges.

The tankiness of IJN designs is at all points debatable. It's a good line, but I'd not sell them based on tankiness and I'd not sell Yamato as the strongest ship. Germans get 30 mm deck armour already at T4 and by T7 it's mostly 50 mm, with 45 mm on the sides, 70 mm lower bow, 90 mm around the stern and only 25 mm at upper bow and the rest of the stern. Sure it isn't 32 mm exactly, but it sure is better. Lyon also has 30 mm deck plating and 180 mm at the sides, so 2 out of 4 lines get comparable if not better plating earlier. Nelson tanks HE spam better. That's it. Shoot overmatching AP at it and the results are brutal. I saw Dunk eat 17k from my Kii volleys, because it gets overmatched everywhere, but I also know what happens when you bowcitadel a Nelson for similar amounts or when a Musashi shoots at it and takes out over half of the hp pool in one salvo. Dunk has a spotter plane. Nelson has not. Nelson's guns are as much at home at T9 as Mutsus would be at home at T8. They work because they are at tiers where the pen is sufficient, but overall their pen is pretty lackluster for their caliber and spamming HE all game is the suckers way of playing Nelson. Properly angled it doesn't happen.

Would be nice, like how they sell permacamos in the arsenal. Though Hipper flag is all I'll ever need.

German BBs. If you know how to handle damage control, nothing is as resilient as them, except maybe a properly angled Yamato.
