Well, if it changes the trajectory, I guess. -

Wouldn't you strke the citadel deck anyway by aiming slightly downwards? Normalisation wouldn't after all change the angle at which the shell flies, so its path should continue downward, if only slightly. -
Gneisenau vs Bismarck, too similar yet too different, I'm slightly confused.

Typically, most caps you stay on your side. They cannot flank that. Not at the start of the game. I use PT. It frankly doesn't matter much. The only reason to not use it is if you find your secondaries destroyed often. But I don't have any great issue with that personally. -

Gneisenau secondaries may deal low damage because targets are either not in range or die too fast. I run full on secondary spec for 8 km. Within 8 km, they do throw out a lot of direct hurt though. -

I'd argue, it depends on matchup. Bismarck can play as support for caps pretty fine (as can many BBs). It is sturdy and covers entire cap circles with secondaries without even being inside the cap. It scares away cruisers that would prey on your DDs. If the enemy turns up in overwhelming numbers, Buismarck is still better suited to make a proper exit than any other T8 BB and if you find little or no resistance, you can just push on. Bismarck can bully capping DDs on its own if there's no proper enemy back-up, given it has hydro, which recently got buffed. -

I rarely tend to find myself in need of that. It shaves off 4 seconds from turning the guns 180°. Having reduced reload in brawls helps me more. Especially, because you can also turn the ship to help bring the guns to bear and after one died, you should be able to shift your angling of the ship anyway. In general, I avoid having targets on both sides. At most I have one DD or cruiser on the other side that I can finish off by selecting them as secondary target. But otherwise I feel it's a situation I wouldn't want to be in in the first place, as it is impossible to angle your armour effectively in such cases. What do you think that "all" is for? It is worded pretty clearly. -

It says As you see, the criteria applies to main battery, not secondary. -

It affects secondary guns regardless of caliber. Also, Depends on what you want out of it. I play Bismarch with good old PT, AR, BoS, AFT, Manual Secondaries, SI and it works fine. Coal commander is good if you want any of his special skills. Else I'd just use free Hipper commander, which has 10 pts and no special skills. EM is unnecessary on Germans. Turrets return fast enough, dpm is more important. I never took BFT. Not on Bismarck. Maybe I take it on Gneisenau. The main issue is that secondary damage isn't worth it on Bismarck over sustain. Gneisenau's secondaries are better in that regard and might deserve it. Secondaries deal direct damage, but they also set fires. In Bismarck, 11.3 km secondaries are a 11.3 km area of HE annoyance. Gneisenau can deal a lot more direct damage. As for firing at two targets at once... Manual secondaries cuts dispersion in half, doubling accuracy, causing you to hit about twice as often. In any case where there is only one target is obviously benefitting from this. Any engagement where all targets are on the same side (so, engagements that are smart and where you can angle) benefit from this, as the secondaries on the other side wouldn't fire anyway. Any engagement where you fire on both sides is likely not very great to begin with, as you are out of position. In this case, focusing all secondary dpm on one target is still preferrable though, to make one die fast and end the flanking of your ship. -
You can punish broadside cruisers fine. You can hurt broadside BBs a lot. The key reason for Warspite to be this useful in stuff like T6 Ranked is that it can overmatch and when you fight a West Virginia, both angled, you have way better dispersion and sigma, landing more overmatching shots. Provided you don't max range snipe, the pen is still adequate. And Fuso is a good ship, but lacks overmatch, as well as having a vulnerable citadel.

And that is different from most other T6 cruisers how? Either one learns how to use terrain to reduce incoming fire in most of these ships or one is going to suffer. Dallas, Pensacola Budyonny, La Galisonniere, Leander and Aoba are all quick to die when out of position and only Leander and Aoba have anything to help with smoke/repair and armour respectively. 16.5 km range makes it however far easier to stay away if necessary and when caught out, having 6 torps per side and a crapload of dpm is sure no joke, as that Scharnhorst found out as it tried to rush me. Nürnberg is a ship with clear advantages and strengths. Most of all its dpm. For a cruiser its a decent pick. For a BB, PEF is basically a crap pick, just like Dunkerque (though if I had to take either into randoms, Dunkerque seems more enjoyable). Frankly, T6 is still a tier where I'd hesitate putting cruisers into the same power category as BBs. I'd argue they are getting closer there, because ships like Graf Spee, Leander and Perth can be quite decent with hydro and fire support, but I'd take an added BB over other cruisers basically any day. And there's no point in comparing PEF with cruisers. It is no cruiser, it is more sturdy than a Spee. It is quite different from a Spee and Spee, imo, is a way more competitive ship for a T6 cruiser slot than PEF is for a T6 BB slot. If you want to compare, do it to BBs. Interestingly enough, btw: I'd argue PEF with a WWI hull without silly AA would've been a decent T5 as basically a stock Kongou with added accuracy. But bringing gun characteristica of a T4 to T6 is... questionable. Not saying PEF won't beat a Myogi, the accuracy difference within its effective range is pretty significant, but Myogi guns beyond 13 km are just the better guns. Fuso basically only hits 2/3 as often as PEF, but fires 3/2 the amount of shells. Which individually hit harder, regardless of ammunition choice. -

You can citadel the Ashitaka by hitting above the waterline, if your shells travel on downwards and hit onto the citadel deck in the central part of the ship. Only 22 mm citadel deck there. Same issue on Kii. Same places. Which is surprising, given Kii is a different ship class and Amagi has a different layout despite being the same class as Ashitaka. I assume as the Amagi starts at what formerly was the B-Hull, she basically never has to deal with original armour scheme. -

Yeah, no. By far not the best pen at T6. Nowhere close to best pen. Warspite is just a bit above Mutsu in pen and only beats Mutsu at range. Pretty much all the small caliber BBs except PEF beat Warspite in penetration and if you want the greatest combination of overmatch and pen, then there's West Virginia which basically just punches through anything that isn't reinforced plating or belt at autobounce angles. Here, courtesy of LWM: According to the same source she used, Warspite's respective values are 564 mm, 473 mm and 396 mm.

Nürnberg has survivability issues, yes. But of T6 cruisers only Graf Spee and Aoba can even try claim they have any outstanding resiliency. But for a cruiser, Nürnberg has great HE dpm, great AP dpm, decent AA on C hull, decent torps on B hull, 360° rotation on rear turret that means the ship is absultely great regardless of whether you are pushing or kiting, it has good range at 16.5 km and German hydro. Also, free IFHE. Here, literally first game in this ship after getting it from the Mighty Prinz campaign with crappy 3 pt captain. -

Honestly, I dgaf about the looming CV rework right now. I just discovered 2019 is the year Arashio finally received a seasonal. I'm so happy. Like, super happy. Like, I needed coffee to stay awake, but now I'm super woke. I need to calm down. But Arashio after all these years has finally a seasonal CG. I'm moved. I'm crying. Finally... The Goddess of Victory truely has arrived. Thank you Konishi. Domo Arigato. -

Nürnberg is an ok T6 cruiser. Played well it's a a fine use of a T6 cruiser slot. -
You can rush or spam German BB if you know you can minimise the time spent in their secondary bubble, else you are just throwing hp away. BB has repair party, Hipper has not. Prinz Eugen can try the yolorush, but even then...

You expect him to stop complaining once the rework hits?

Speed up and do what? You aren't going to outrun planes. Frankly, while Yamato at the moment has the worst AA of all T10 BBs and Republique one of the best, survivability vs CVs will likely be favouring the Yamato, just alone because of the catapult fighters, better deck plating that is less easily penned by all kinds of crap and the torp bulges that reduce the torpedo damage. It will still suffer, but well. I mean, look at that Republique, that guy died so fast, that's just retarded. Why would I even bother play anything high tier with that in mind?
-
And that fighter squad is up there forever and effective? What about ships like Republique without aircraft? Fun times when Yama has more effective air defense than a Repu. Not that I put much stock in either.
-
Honestly, I feel like this might not equalise CV skill gap, but it might equalise BB skill gap, because I get the feeling that my new "favourite" T10 will be range Mod Yamato so I can always stay next to my CVs for actual AA protection and snipe CVs across the map. I would think that'll get boring fast though. It might sound retarded, but if the alternative is certain death...
-
When that vid from Flamu up there is any indication of the current state, then now it's just CVs cleaning up the trash for half the game, then the real battle begins when only glorious CV master race survived to end game...
-
I wonder how damn fun it was for all the people who were not in CVs for the last 8 minutes. To be honest, if it wasn't for that Des Moines holding out three minutes under constant plane harassment with nothing to do but try to not get murdered by [edited], they were all dead before half the match time was up. Meanwhile it took the rest of the time to not even be able to kill all enemy CVs and them feeding each other plane kills while trying to kill each other by a death of a thousand cuts. Is this what fun looks like? Is that Republique feeling the other fun that is having the current AA nerfed into being meaningless and sorely feeling that lack of a catapult fighter, the last ray of hope in such a situation? And Flamu acknowledges himself, this wasn't even masterful CV play, that was him derping around half the time. Frankly, that Des Moines seems to have had a decent game despite its team dying around it. Its CVs seem to have been not too useful, but this mediocre skill was enough to just walk all over the Des Moines and win the game. I see no skill gap fixed, no interesting new way to interact with planes meaningfully that is more engaging than ctrl+click and trying to dodge, compared to sector switching (and potentially screwing yourself over) and dodging.

Stimmt. Die Flugzeuge sind S6. Sollte schlafen gehen.
