Giulio Cesare to be changed to T6.
HaachamaShipping replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
And you don't have to be FTP to be interested in game balance. I'm a paying customer and for one, I prefer having people populating the game so I can play Giulio over it being broken in a deserted game. Second, I would prefer if ships don't start a continuous powercreep that cannot be stopped due to a silly policy. Even if both are owned by WG, it still justifies none of your points. This is utterly baseless conjecture. It has no logic behind it nor do you even explain how you get from OP premiums getting nerfed to OP premiums becoming standard. You could at least try when coming up with your doomsday predictions. -

Yes, consumption goes up. In general, at your level, it doesn't matter, as you likely have enough oil anyway and are more in need of performance. Performance can go up a lot, as skills get unlocked and the attacks get improved (BBs for example already at first LB get +1 Main Gun turret, which means they fire a second salvo after the first, effectively doubling the firepower. At third LB, they get another one). But later getting some low-cost fleet is a good idea. Also note that for ships like Leander, you need them at high level to fully retrofit them, so limit breaking might be a necessity. Also, Purin is a loli. People into Purins are lolicons. -
No, we don't need more OP ships. And WG just recently stated they are looking into adressing OP premiums. It frankly is mistiered at T7. It has no reason to be there. Yes, there is no T7 KM premium cruiser, but guess what? There also is no T7 USN premium BB, yet we got two of them at t6 and T8 each and that's fine this way. Premiums should be fitted into tiers they make sense, not where it is convenient, as you'd need to absolutely nerf this ship into the ground to make it acceptable at T7. Even as a T8 premium it basically would be imo a better ship than Hipper and only would avoid being broken as hell if it keeps the 16.5 km range.

I recommend the guides linked by @Captain_LOZFFVII for in-depth info, but for one, the purple 127 mm fires almost twice as fast with shells that do more than half the damage so overall it does more theoretical damage. Additionally, it fires HE. Unless you fight a ton of medium armour targets, HE is the better choice for these two guns (depending on gun type, different ammo modifiers apply. DD AP does pretty ok damage vs DD. BB AP on light armour is basically just overpen like in WoWS). -

The best option is USN 127 mm twin, basically what Sandy comes with. DD guns generally beat cruiser guns in dpm anyway, which is why even German DDs are better off without using 15 cm guns. Sandy's firepower issues basically stem from lackluster base firepower values and gun efficiency. Sandy with cruiser guns basically gives you less firepower than Omaha, as well as a worse torp attack. Not unusable, but certainly lower than good CLs. -
The reason Nürnberg is at T6 is not the guns, but the survivability. Nürnberg is one of the cruisers most known for just getting oneshot or eating citadels from any angle. In exchange, Nürnberg has practically the most firepower of any T6 CL. It rivalled Cleveland when it was T6. Meanwhile Hipper has the best hull of any T8 cruiser. It is balanced at T8 by having garbage dpm. Now consider what happens when you put 12 Nürnberg guns with 6 second reload on a Hipper hull. You basically have the tankiest T8 cruiser with firepower that in AP dpm utterly outclasses anything at T8 and in terms of HE dpm that only gets beaten by 155 Mogami and Cleveland. But without 4 points required for IFHE. Tell me, how the hell is that ever going to be balanced at T8? And you think this is appropriate for T7?
-
How would it be T7? It's basically a Hipper, one of the tankiest T8 cruisers, but with guns that actually have dpm. Just because the ships were planned as replacement for the old Yorck does not mean they'd again be named Yorck.

Finally got Curlew. All I'm missing from this construction now is Mullany and Tai Yuan, but well. At least I got the maidos now. -
The squishiness of the ship is a balancing factor like on all MN BBs. So, unlikely to change.

Because adjusting the hp number is impossible, right?

Indeed, I know. Leander deserves an SR tag. But humble as she is, she's an N. -

Dunno. Whom else would you put in a RN backline on the EN server? For now, Hood is quite fine. -

I mean, armour-wise, I don't see how a ship with 25 mm plating and a citadel this size is going to hold up to getting shot at by BBs. I have more expectations of Ibuki surviving thanks to 32 mm deck than to this ship. Other than that, well, yeah, if I want accuracy, concealment, some high alpha HE salvos, Ibuki does it better and it gets torps. Azuma beats Ibuki for me just in hp pool and in AP, but well, if these are what I want, I rather have the Alaska and else I use Ibuki or just go a tier higher and get Yoshino. Which for randoms is basically same MM and for T9-exclusive game modes, like T9 Ranked or CB, I certainly feel like Azuma will not become the new meta. In the end, Azuma needs a ton of work to be interesting to me and till then I just see it like I view Musashi: Why bother with playing it over playing the T10 ship that is basically the same but better? And Musashi at least has the advantage that it's a BB slot. It's one of the best T9 BBs, if not the best for competitive, if Missouri wouldn't exist. -

Frankly, yes. Even more than before. If CVs become more popular, it's basically reducing the value of concealment and increasing the value of any skill that buffs AA. If they are absend, you still got the same as before. -

tbh, I am going for Alaska, because it's a ship with actually decent statline and in general, I don't hate playing T9 ships. I very much enjoy the Ibuki for example. But I see no reason in Azuma, given it is scheduled to have bad armour, silly large citadel behind the nonexistent armour, no torps, no radar, no improved pen angles, no nothing. Why would I play it over the Alaska or the Ibuki ever? -
If I had to wager a guess... Azuma's model. If they need to fit torps and such in, it is quite an overhaul, so it might need a new model. So why not recycle the old one for a T9 free exp sink with few resources required to make it, as the model already exists now. Well, it's the general case of recycling assets across tiers. Unlike Alsace/Bourgogne though, noone can complain about having their ship nerfed into the ground to make the T10 look better, as it's likely going to be a better T10 now while a model gets recycled at T9 and noone has spent resources on getting it yet. Now I just need to get coal and find a use for my steel...

0.8.0 AFT Vs Manual AA (Minotaur)
HaachamaShipping replied to Captain_KriegWurst's topic in General Discussion
No real reason to use the AA cover of other ships. More like other ships use the AA cover of your Mino. Switching sectors is maybe a bit unusual, but frankly, it's not hard. It's less hectic than when I constantly screen all BBs I see on where their main guns are pointed inbetween salvos. WG published a How it Works today. I haven't watched it yet though. -

For the most part this ship is dead to me. So, don't care what happens to it. Maybe it's good, maybe its trash, why would I play it over Ibuki or over the Yoshino? "Azuma is dead. Long live Yoshino!"... kinda -
0.8.0 AFT Vs Manual AA (Minotaur)
HaachamaShipping replied to Captain_KriegWurst's topic in General Discussion
MAA all the way. The "nominal" 20% is a friggin joke, because it's 20% of whatever it was before, so you get +20% of 125%, which is 150% at the end (DDs go from 150% to 180% even). Also, it affects continuous dps, which Mino has in spades and will basically make sure that whatever flies into that sector dies. AFT affects bursts, which people can dodge. And if someone doesn't dodge bursts, they die anyway due to the sheer damage in a burst adding to the continuous dps. BFT beats AFT even in usefulness. -

Should the Graff Spee get a sigma improvement?
HaachamaShipping replied to FrankvC_Jr's topic in Cruisers
Graf Spee imo already is strong and works well. It is strong in general and was good in both T6 Ranked and T6 test CBs. And with that record, I honestly see no reason to buff it further. -

Well, guess I'll have to buy Stalingrad now, given I don't want steel DDs and Azuma is coal. Too bad I spent most on the Musashi. I do hope Yoshino will be decent though and at least gets some 30 mm armour back. Even Worcester has a 30 mm deck. -
Was there any info from WG regarding different AA FLAK values for same guns but placed on different tier ships?
HaachamaShipping replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It is the worst AA cruiser at T8 (and could compete for worst AA ship at T8 if IJN torp DDs didn't exist). In the past it outperformed Edin with defAA on, but given how much defAA matters now...
