PSA: Free captain respec/demount ends tonight.
HaachamaShipping replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
I typically use free respecs to throw any commanders I don't need into reserve and leave them there with no skill points distributed. I think the most radical issue I have is that I respecced my GK commander to FdG (retraining was free too!) and left them there. Given it's a 19 pt Thea, I'll just leave her there and resist the immense urge to play GK... <_< (FdG is now a better ship imo) Imagine playing something like Neptune with 0 point captain. -
Communicating with sound signals - the ships horn!
HaachamaShipping replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in Off-Topic
There is no shared meaning for horn and typically it does nothing. It also cannot be heard beyond 6 km. I typically use it only to alert people if I'm passing through and they are about to collide with me or if they don't notice that they are raking my ship with friendly fire. -
Don’t buy PEF - she sucks hard

I really don't understand why people don't like West Virginia. Tbf, in times of CV rework, the T6 BB lauded to have best AA being most-played premium BB is not very surprising. -
PSA: Free captain respec/demount ends tonight.
HaachamaShipping replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
I was wondering if people really had 30-40 captains to respec and it seems people do. Though, it's easy to heavily reduce the number of necessary retrainings by just leaving captains unspecced if you don't plan to immediately play a ship, as well as certain ships where captain build really won't change. Like, IJN DDs really don't change captain builds based on AA. But the point you make is valid. -
Imo, it's kind of the progression you'd expect from Bismarck to GK, so it's fine in that regard. Just in general not the ship everyone might want and not the kind of battleship favoured by the meta. I still consider it one of the weaker T9 BBs and the turret angles make it a bit of a frustrating experience, same as with GK. At least it isn't lagging too much behind, but it certainly is different from Izumo that got buffed from hot garbage to being ugly but now certainly is hard to be dismissed as a force at T9 with increased accuracy, one of the best HE resistances and guns that rival Republique in penetration.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
HaachamaShipping replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
That colouring book sure became pretty popular. I had Hood on max LB before I got a Nelson. And it still is my only copy of Nelson. Though I did buy the Halloween outfit for Nelson, just because it looks amazing. I like these witch designs. And yeah, getting one strong fleet that you can use for when it counts is for the best, because for all the times where you just need to half-[edited]it, you'll likely have enough other ships anyway that you can level a bit in two exp commissions and have them ready. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Guess VU doesn't deserve getting hp, speed, dpm or even accuracy. And now it doesn't even deserve getting a proper repair party. Because let's face it, the citadel should be untouchable for surface ships, getting torped in a ship with this kind of turning circle shouldn't happen to any decent player and AP bombs are entirely just an issue because unlike König this ship gets an utter joke of an AA suite. Tell me WG, what exactly does VU have over König that requires the nerfbat this much? -
No, all the GK secondaries get 1/4 pen and since recently FdG also only has 1/4 pen on all secondaries.

Chances of OP realising this is an attempt to tell him to change his formatting vs amount of unrelated people who have to suffer reading the topic. Worth it? Also, expecting WG to fix annoying interface issues. They couldn't figure out issues in their own crappy coding and you expect them to know how to handle their way on forum software? -
Giulio Cesare to be changed to T6.
HaachamaShipping replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
I'd still buy Exeter, because frankly current stats are totally T6 and getting a T6 premium for the price of a T5 is a good deal. Just gotta be aware of what you are actually purchasing long-term if stats stay as is. -
T8 Amagi on Operation
HaachamaShipping replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
Admittedly, I encountered it only once before the most recent buffs and from halfway across the map it basically just utterly demolished my West Virginia that was still near the base. Say what you want about heal circles and this ship not being a problem, but for one, heal circles don't regen health fast enough to help, they mostly make morons camp in them and the Izumo is basically a huge chunk of hp which has almost no farmable superstructure, a huge 57 mm deck that no cruiser at T6 can pen except Graf Spee and unless you get its flank its impervous to AP as well. You can set it on fire and try to torp it, but that's it. Frankly, you would likely give people an easier time putting a Musashi there, because the overmatch difference doesn't matter vs T6, the shells are less accurate, the turret traverse is worse, the AA is T6 appropriate (in case anyone actually tries bring a CV) and the citadel is more accessible. Once upon a time Izumo was a T9 BB with pretty moderate accuracy, AA that could be challenged by T6 CVs and 32 mm deck that could be HE penned easily. Now I guess for coordinated divs that can bring a composition to deal with it it works, but for the average team, this is like the ultimate roadblock with Yamato lite vs T6. -
Giulio Cesare to be changed to T6.
HaachamaShipping replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
Frankly, I consider GC at its tier more OP than Belfast at T7. Belfast is powerful with its good concealment, radar, smoke and good firepower, but at the end it's a very squishy cruiser still and people got better at counterplaying it over the years. Giulio Cesare is basically having no weaknesses except slightly below average hp and a garbage AA, but the rework actually empowered that AA rather than nerf it (as happened to most ships with bad AA). And while cruisers in T7 are finally becoming rather influential, BBs at T5 are incredibly powerful (and only rivalled by good DDs). -

Ranked Battles: Eleventh Season - Discussion Thread
HaachamaShipping replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Given the role and impact (or lack thereof compared to other classes) BBs have in this mode, I can say, FdG is not even a terrible pick. It lacks accuracy, but it is tanky, has insane reload for 40.6 cm guns, has hydro to deal with DDs and secondaries that can farm all ships. Rebought it just to test it and frankly, just the game where I secondary farmed two smoked up Kitakazes that got hydroed and couldn't see me was worth it. -

May I ask you to please consider removing formatting when copying text, for while I know you folks hate having black text on dark theme, others really have a hard time reading white text on light theme. Thank you for your consideration. -
Don’t buy PEF - she sucks hard
HaachamaShipping replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
Ironically, Myogi got the same shell performance as the PEF for the most part. Just at T4. I don't play PEF anymore, but I have to say, speed boosting through the outer air defence to reach the internal safe zone and dropping torps or AP bombs on this unmaneuverable thing has so far been the highlights of my post-hotfix Ryuujou experience. I'm crap and the CV experience at T6 is harsh, but when you have this little short and mid range and the worst T6 turning radius of any BB, this isn't an AA ship, it's basically just the most inviting target. I do prefer AP bombers though, as those can turn inside the aura and continue dropping without accuracy loss, while new IJN torp bombers require me to fly outside again to line up a new drop. Who would've seen it coming that this ship has utterly unreliable AA now? -
T8 Amagi on Operation
HaachamaShipping replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
True, but I feel like it's still likely too hard for people to deal with. Izumo is doesn't come alone and it arrives at the very end. Basically, whatever's still alive has to deal with one of the hardest to kill and hardest hitting T9 BBs in the game. It's in my experience rare that teams make it this far, so for randoms I can only imagine how utterly impossible it must be to deal with this. And sure, the scenarios throw tons of enemies at you, but it's easy to see why the spam of crappy ships like in Aegis and in Killer Whale is far less of an issue. T6 BBs can easily mitigate the damage from something like an AP Ishizuchi or a König. Occasional Bayern is a bit harder, but still doesn't do huge damage. Meanwhile good luck with a BB that has overmatch, 2.0 sigma and enough pen even at 20 km to just citadel a T6 USN BB through its bow. -
T8 Amagi on Operation
HaachamaShipping replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
I didn't play that op lately, but I bet it's really balanced to let a T9 BB lose on players after they buffed it to get Yamato deck, 2.0 sigma and the most insane pen of any T9 BB until Sovietsky Soyuz arrives. T6 BBs and cruisers absolutely stand a chance against that thing. -
T8 Amagi on Operation

Defense of Naval Station Newport spawns a guaranteed Izumo afaik, so, that Amagi is like a joke compared to that. -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
HaachamaShipping replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
No, because it'd basically be too hard to set up in a way that works well and isn't allowing for situations even more frustrating than the rare game where this option would be useful. -
Should the Graff Spee get a sigma improvement?
HaachamaShipping replied to FrankvC_Jr's topic in Cruisers
Not T6 cruiser has 25 mm bow. Only T8 cruisers get that. So, no, it isn't defeated by angling. -
I admit, I thought that. Till I rebought FdG two days ago for Ranked. I reached my steel goal, thought I'd stop playing carry mode in Neptune, sell the ship given I reached Mino and buy this lulzy piece of crap to see why the SEA server got such WR in it. Frankly, I feel, now with buffs, the FdG is the perfect transition from Bismarck to GK. and that in a positive and negative sense. FdG for the longest time was a ship I loathed and it still is a ship I regard as one of the most frustrating experiences in my BB life. The turret angles are just garbage and 4 guns isn't a lot. Dispersion is wonky, but honestly, Bismarck was the same. Just, now you are basically a slightly healthier ship with bigger guns that reload in 22.9 seconds and secondaries that hurt. The issue in gameplay for me has always been that Bismarck to me was high point as it handled well enough and everything after it handled considerably less well and really, Bismarck imo is the last BB that is truely competitive, while everything afterward becomes increasingly less competitive. And in that sense, if there weren't occasional reasons to play T10 ships for free stuff, I'd keep FdG over GK. In general though, Bismarck basically is the last German BB I really found good. Also, as to Ranked, the ship actually isn't bad. 6v6 means you can do pretty lulzy stuff and when you brawl Musashis, they cannot kill you before you flank them, while Jean Barts melt to secondaries and DDs can be zoned out by 6 km hydro and the cruiser firepower reaching out to 11.5 km. It's certainly not the ideal ship to carry games, but certainly for a BB where you don't expect carrying in general, it's one lulzy pick that is more fun than Neptune made out of citadel.

Should the Graff Spee get a sigma improvement?
HaachamaShipping replied to FrankvC_Jr's topic in Cruisers
The issue there is, PEF and KGV are battleships and they are expected to do BB things. Noone expects Graf Spee to be a BB, it's a cruiser. And as a cruiser, it has enough overmatch to hurt other cruisers even if they angle, if it hits the bow (only ship at T6 that can overmatch all other T6 cruisers). Broadside-on cruisers it can demolish. Play it like a T6 cruiser, like the opportunistic ship it is and if you have to go into a brawl, long-range hydro + 8 km torps is basically how you deal with enemies if you can't just delete them with heavy cits. Graf Spee to me is the only T6 cruiser I'd bring to any competitive format aside from Leander and Perth. It's basically T6 Kronshtadt. -
Should the Graff Spee get a sigma improvement?
HaachamaShipping replied to FrankvC_Jr's topic in Cruisers
Intimidation works if you have a volume of fire that is intimidating. Graf Spee's volume of fire is basically comparable to Leander with a few 15 cm guns on long reload mixed in that don't hit the broad side of a barn. BBs with secondaries give pressure because they typically have so many shells they fire, but when they don't have that many, the secondaries usually tend to get ignored. Noone for example gives a crap about USN secondaries, even if they open fire and even if ships like NC have a veritable amount of them. and the few folks who lose their head in those situations are usually the ones that just shoot torps at the white line and in a prolonged gunnery contest at 7 km or lower, Graf spee handily wins. The real issue are ships like Gnevny being a pain from 11 km away, where your 1 km added range does exactly nothing. Graf Spee has the secondaries it has. If I say it should be handled like a more maneuverable BB, then I am stating that as it is what Graf Spee compares best to, not what it is. You can argue it's still a cruiser and for a cruiser it has many secondaries, but you'll still find yourself basically trying your best to dodge torps and slowly picking apart DDs with your slow-firing main battery, like a BB. And German BBs also, again, have volume of fire, not just range. -
Should the Graff Spee get a sigma improvement?
HaachamaShipping replied to FrankvC_Jr's topic in Cruisers
Frankly, let's assume secondary range was 5 km base. What would that change? Would you spec any dedicated Graf Spee commander for secondaries? I certainly wouldn't. Nor would I bother with secondary mod. At 5 km range, the secondaries might occasionally hit a DD, but even if these guns were actually accurate (which at T6 they'll never be, due to Manual secondaries giving a 20% bonus only), the volume of fire is not killing anything fast. You're basically looking at 4 15 cm guns and 4 10.5 cm guns that can fire per side, which is about half a PEF. Needless to say, against anything not a DD, these guns are basically even less useful. Overall, before I spend any points in secondary skills, I take 1 point for EL and call it a day. So, yes, Graf Spee might have issues handling DDs, but 1 km more secondary range won't change that. Better to just handle her like a more maneuverable BB with German hydro at that point.
