Interesting... the "Alaska" can be bought on RU server for around 65 Euros...
HaachamaShipping replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Frankly, Alaska to me is actually less an issue compared to Jean Bart. Jean Bart is a coal ship. To buy enough coal for Jean Bart is only possible with an seasonal container that drops coal and typically it'd end up with amounts of money that are even more ridiculous than the amount of money required to get free exp for Alaska, an option that is readily available every day. In a way, if one wants to throw cash at the game to buy Alaska, WG basically just reduced their own profit by making it possible to get the ship for cheaper than what converting exp would cost. And it's not like someone can't fail their way up the tiers for free. -

It's basically a Leander in most regards. Don't know how you get the idea it would handle like a Fiji. Maybe average in other ships, because an Alaska player that can aim will just wipe the floor with a NO. Unlike T8 cruisers and up, the NO doesn't even have plating strong enough to not get overmatched by Alaska AP. Personally, I rate Alaska quite highly, as while it has a pronounced weakness to continuous HE spam, it has a pretty strong AP salvo and you hardly find a T9 cruiser that can withstand BB shells as well as Alaska can. It's a good flanker, imo, that can play some nice support. Wouldn't pay for it (I wouldn't pay a full pice T8 BB either), but definitely worth free exp. If I look at all the Musashis I encountered so far, I must disagree. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
HaachamaShipping replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Well, not today, but yesterday (I seem to always post a day late). Bought Alaska. Promptly got a new damage record. From left to right: Arsonist, Dreadnought, Witherer, High Caliber I must say, while my WR is in the dumps (4/10 games won, so, I blame sample size), the ship is already something I have grown fond of. 1 million free exp well spent. Sadly, most often damage records seem more amazing than they often are, and like my last record that was accomplished by torping and flooding out BBs with a few DD kills along the way, this one is mostly thanks to farming two Musashis, one with fires, other with cit rush. It was a close and enjoyable game though and we won narrowly by points, thanks to the final rush. Alaska overall feels strong, but balanced. It can tank and dish out great alpha strike, but it also has real issues with getting out-dpmed by most other cruisers. It is a very comfortable and enjoyable ship though and I can only recommend it (for free exp). Edit: Forgot this fun incident. It doesn't happen often, but seemingly it can still happen. -
Exeter - guns highly ineffective at times?
HaachamaShipping replied to Varian_Dorn's topic in General Discussion
The only T5 cruisers that have any appreciable amount of armour are the Furutaka and Krasny Krim. Exeter still beats ships like Omaha or Emile Bertin in armour and the citadel is pretty compact. arguing that Exeter for whatever reason is exceptionally squishy and deserves a repair party and a smoke when most other T5 cruisers are just as squishy or even worse is just absurd. If Exeter was a T6 or higher, where the RN CLs actually get worse armour than the rest of the pack, you might have a point, but as it's a T5, it basically has to play like any cruiser that has no armour. So, most T5 cruisers. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I mean, at least Vanguard has proper penetration, because Hood at range just relies on overmatching upper belt. Vs Monarch, Vanguard is more accurate and maneuverable. And Monarch got its citadel raised, so the difference there also becomes less pronounced. -
Exeter - guns highly ineffective at times?
HaachamaShipping replied to Varian_Dorn's topic in General Discussion
Don't fight 1v2 against the one cruiser that can actually murder your ship for a start. Both Kirov and Exeter get overmatched through the bow. Yes, Kirov has a better upper side belt, where it is 18 mm and not 13 mm, but doesn't really matter, because any good Furutaka with its pinpoint accuracy will snipe your bow and if you show side, 18 mm holds off nothing and the Exeter citadel is way smaller than Kirov's. Only T5 cruiser that won't eat cits from the front (not even from T5 BBs in this case) is the Krasny Krim. But that ship deserves getting some strengths. -
Just a few thoughts on the matter. I know, WG once hinted at reworking light cruisers and IFHE, but given we didn't hear anything so far, I thought I'd suggest something (not in the least because WG might just scrap the idea again, like they did with 10% from module pens). So, as I see it, Mogami with 155 mm guns is balanced. Mogami with 203 mm guns is a joke. It's basically there for people who cannot afford 4 captain points for IFHE. It's the reason why in the past noone thought highly of Ibuki, as Ibuki basically was just a massive drop in dpm and in 203 mm Mogami, you basically transform your ship from great dpm into bad dpm on one of the squishiest T8 cruisers. Now, what I was thinking, to make the Mogami with 203 mm guns more useful... how about Mogami gets a C-hull that requires using the 203 mm guns and gets a 30 mm deck like Ibuki? Or what kind of advantages could one give the 203 mm gun option for them to be an interesting option that is actually worthwhile?

German BB dispersion is Range (in km) x 9.8 + 66 So, dividing dispersion by range doesn't work out.

It was always like this. Kurfürst secs have 1/4 pen, German DD guns don't.

reworking of the harugumo dd line ( sugestion) tier 8+
HaachamaShipping replied to Flavio1997's topic in General Discussion
The real guns had an advertised RoF of 20 rpm, which they basically only reached under best conditions. Typically it dropped to 15 RoF or such in combat conditions. The 10 cm/65 Type 98 was not an autoloading design though; later autoloading 10 cm guns, like French Cold War 100 mm naval guns achieved 60-80 rpm, Russian 100 mm is 60 rpm and Swedish 12 cm guns achieved 80 rpm with bigger caliber even. This would mean 0.75-1 s reload time.- 50 replies

IX Alaska vs VII Scharnhorst
HaachamaShipping replied to Morning_Star_777's topic in General Discussion
Test what? Alaska vs Scharnhorst? Assuming they both know how to play their ships, Alaska wins, as it has functional HE that doesn't care about Scharnhorst 50 mm plating. And if Scharnhorst is even just slightly broadside, it can fire AP for great effect, while Scharnhorst can't. -

Met @Uglesett in their Minotaur on the enemy team. Sadly was too busy to respond. Still lost though. -

reworking of the harugumo dd line ( sugestion) tier 8+
HaachamaShipping replied to Flavio1997's topic in General Discussion
I mean, you'll find all kinds of idiots in random, especially with Shimas. Doesn't mean it's a balance issue though. Personally for example, I never had any issues in my DDs vs a Harugumo. Last time I ran into one, it got spotted, I predicted its turn, launched torps, it ate one, then I gunned it down for the remainder of its hp. That's basically how you play around a Harugumo and Kitakaze is a bit more threatening, but you can work around it, just like DDs didn't get utterly murdered by old Akizuki if they had any sort of brains.- 50 replies

One of the best concealment values? Guns that overmatch other T5 and lower cruisers? -
If the dispersion was enough of a buff, Myoko would actually be better than 155 mm Mogami, as it has better reload, better armour and 100 more hp. Obviously, Myoko tier for tier is strong, but not OP, while I'd not call 155 Mogami UP for T8. Dispersion does not make up for the difference between the second best HE dpm after Cleveland and the fourth worst before ships such as Atago and the abyssal HE dpm of the Germans. Atago is barely worse, but better in so many ways than 203 mm Mogami, from better hp pool, repair party, 41 mm deck to better concealment and better torpedo angles. It really doesn't matter. Especially not on a ship with that rudder shift. Which would be? Better not be TRB.

It's a T5 ship that competes with Furutaka, the best silver T5 cruiser in existence. Sure nerfbatted to hell. -

It got removed for being OP, so naturally it had 50+% WR. You are claiming Khaba is not good enough, so quite the opposite.- 50 replies

For me, nothing will ever beat losing Raptor Rescue because Raptor reversed away from exit zone, then rammed the ammo ship and got stuck on it.

And turn it into a complete garbage heap, because the 100 mm 1/4 pen is basically what it has going for it and not much else. Lulzily enough, this would not even adress the point of the thread creator, as the special pen matters not in DD vs DD fights.- 50 replies

At least Hipper, Thea and whatever generic German captain people favour will likely keep their jobs, because Jutland brothers are hardly worth a damn. Good post though.

Played Hood after the buffs. Imo, the ship now is a pretty solid T7 premium BB. Citpenning BBs is still not happening too often (Hood like Warspite lacks raw pen more than fuze time, so citpens happen mostly just at shorter ranges against BBs), but with the new accuracy, Hood really has very reliable guns. The guns weren't notably inaccurate before, but now you really hit very consistently even at range. Given the rest of the ship apart from the guns already was pretty superb, I really like playing Hood now. It's a bit like a fast Warspite. Also, worth noting is that the AA rework has changed the defAA to normal defAA and made rockets long-range AA. Hood moved from exceptional short-range to solid long range, with defAA. Whatever flies into those 11 explosions the long range throws out just dies.

Azuma gun nerf: No Thanks!
HaachamaShipping replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
If you compare it to Ibuki, Azuma basically had hp pool, AP and HE pen going for it, as well as some added range. In contrast Ibuki has better armour (I kid you not), better maneuverability, better concealment, better accuracy (even with Azuma getting cruiser dispersion, Ibuki has destroyer dispersion. Now the difference is like night and day), stealth torp ability (100 m window, but only T9 cruiser able to do this at all and way better than no torps of Azuma). If you just spam HE at range, Ibuki is likely the better platform.
