At that point you're better off buying a bundle.

Something like 60. Imo, the current second wave commander bundle isn't really outrageous, it's in line with the earlier bundles and pricing of single commanders. It just pales in value compared to Armada pack, which for what you'd usually pay is a pretty good deal. I expected as much but without first wave commanders. What is a bit sad is the inability to buy single commanders. That's a real bummer and kinda the big let-down of this event. Voiceovers I heard so far (Montpelier, Yukikaze, Atago) are quality-wise pretty nice and the two ships... well, they are what you expect. Montpelier is a Cleveland, very slightly worse, but that's not a big issue for one of the strongest T8 cruisers. Ran into a Cleveland (with AL camo, got my compliment) but still outgunned him, as positioning just is so much more important.Yukikaze is a meme Kagero. Still more versatile than Asashio. Deleted a Z-46 that thought it could rush me with hydro. Worth it. The camos of the two ships also are a job well-done. The port is confusing. What game am I playing again? Overall, this is a nice one for whales, while people who don't go for a bundle or who literally don't care whom they get are a good lot worse off. They should have sold commanders also on their own. Lastly, collection gives free Azuma with 10 points, but subcategories give all the faction flags of Azur Lane. Even minor ones. So, if you want the Eastern Radiance flag on Anshan, here you go. -

And not even close to dead. He's still over 50% hp. Barely. Also, did you consider running towards allies? To get some more AA protection and still be useful. Whether you sit in B4 or D4, CV needs about as long to reach you, but D4 would mean actually participating in the battle. -
Sarushima is also a permanent port.

We already got free Nelson, free Hipper and free Avrora. Now it is time for free Hood. Free Azuma in collection. Also, manjuu chicken flag!

How's the worcester and cruisers like that balanced?
HaachamaShipping replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
Most other T10 BBs are in that ballpark, only GK and Kreml are far beyond, while Bourgogne and Conqueror are a good bit below. It's a repair party. All BBs get repair party. Or is a "special" repair party now a gimmick? Why does Soviet "special" damage control then not count? And nice that you quote DFens_666 who said that after you made the point that gimmick seemingly has to be a consumable, ignoring all the rest of the Soviet BB. -
A idear to help DD, and make spotting more ...🤔👍
HaachamaShipping replied to SmokyButtons's topic in General Discussion
I don't derp around over in isolated areas with DDs, because there's crap all to be spotted and if you run into enemies you're on your own. Usualy it's more useful to have a certain distance to friendlies, even in a non-CV match, but certainly in a CV match. And depending on how long ago it was, meta changes. Not always for the worse. -

10 km away from other ships? You don't screen by derping around in places where noone is, you screen in front of your fleet, towards the enemy fleet, as it: lets you discover incoming torps for allies lets you discover enemy DDs that launch those torps for allies lets you see other ships for allies to shoot at is usually the direction the caps are at is the best chance you get to actually ever get damage in your ship lets you retreat to friendly ships should a CV decide that you deserve some rockets/bombs There is absolutely no reason for you to "lone wolf" as OP called it and be so out of place that a CV can spot you for free but you are so detached that not even the CV's allies are within 10 km. That's certainly not what Farragut was designed for. Heck, as you pointed out Farragut only has short range armament, so 10 km away from the enemy, guess how much success your little DD will have. -

There's different playstyles, but hardly any of them should be to derp around in the enemy's rear or in your rear, where noone else is derping around. Even friggin Khaba is mostly useless there, providing nothing it couldn't provide while closer to its team. That's like trying to say "BBs camping in their spawn shooting at stuff 24 km away is not bad gameplay, it's just a different playstyle some BBs have. Not everyone's a brawler to go up close and personal. WG should reward this long range playstyle too". Some approaches to gameplay just are not useful and are just dumb. -

It's basically the good old "I'm a sneaky DD, I'ma go and flank around. Noone sees that coming. Torp them in the rear, lol" that is already stupid now, because it moves you out of position and actually reduces your effective spotting and it'd be even more stupid with the proposed change as noone gets your intel. It's a stupid move and it'd be poor game design would it be actually rewarded. -

Not without merits, but would need a lot of thought into preventing stuff that just doesn't work out. Because I see a good bit of stuff that just doesn't work out the way you might think. e.g. There's little "unfortunate for the CV". If I spot a lone DD that is this far away from the battle, it's basically a free kill for a CV and all that I can think of is noone steals my CV damage if that guy actually tried to spot my CV, he likely is so out of position none of his team get the intel either, meaning instead of getting my CV scratched by all those BBs that want to get rid of sky cancer and try to snipe across the map, I only have to deal with this one DD. But frankly, being this far away from anything friendly deserves to get the DD killed. It's stupid play. In general though, it'd not be a completely dumb idea. -
Did you consider that maybe, just maybe there's a case to be made that being able to easily put a 10+ point captain into a low tier ship is not a good thing? And frankly, if you like Königsberg so much, you can basically play the silver ship and just invest into that commander to get 10 points, just fine. elite commander exp, some grind, or if you really want to spend money, convert exp or buy some 10 point German Azur Lane commander (with right filtering it becomes a regular commander for all intents and purposes). All cheaper than buying a premium ship.

Dunno if GZ is underperforming, but in case you ever feel she needs a slight buff, I'd suggest upping the dive bomber squad to 9 in a 3x3 setup. There's little point in buffing torp planes or they'll just straight up replace the DBs in everything, but giving the DBs some extra oomph, so they compare a bit better vs Enterprise and you don't need 4 attack runs (or three, given the planes die or get damaged to the point you would want to recall/shorten the squad anyway) might be the best way to improve the ship. Also because it doesn't buff the anti-DD potential of the ship, yet allows it to make up with a bit more anti-capital ship strike power.

And 30 mm of pen prevent DDs from getting nuked how? It protects BBs, yes, but if I want to kill BBs, there's torpedoes. It's not a matter of "Kaga and freedom carriers spoiled you", but of "I don't need 30+ mm pen on HE bombs for most of what I use them for and I don't need HE bombs for killing the stuff with more than 30 mm armour. I also don't see air-to-air being ever a thing really, so rocket fighters stay trash. And don't get me even started on the which would make fighters suddenly viable, but only because they start being useful against DDs. Obviously, you could introduce air-to-air and make the small precise bombs utter trash, in which case, I guess we are back in the age of when RTS CVs had to choose between AS loadout and pure strike, either getting crap all in air-to air and hoping to outmaneuver or being unable to properly use their own air superiority. That was neither a great thing back then, nor is it now.

Sure. I take my Kaga Tenzans and Suiseis. The Zeros can stay at home. When the DDs are all dead and I feel like memeing some cruisers with something other than torps, I'll go and mount AP bombs on my Suiseis. How about no? Or how many Shokakus would go and get HE DBs instead? Unless you have to or your rockets are incredibly good, most of the time DBs are just so much better at the job. Like, I dunno, but on Ranger, I don't even see a reason to use the rockets for anything but scouting. Why throw some crappy rockets when you can just make the DD regret their existence with precision bombing? Never will I forget that game where some Farragut just straight up quit after losing half its hp in one drop. So, yeah, please lets not do that. Apart from GZ every CV has at least something semi-decent to throw at DDs that aren't close by and if you give the Ta152 an HE bomb, even GZ can molest the lolibotes hard. Now with 260 knots speed.

Imo, the CV that is likely closest to balance vs DD (and thus the one that gets most hatred) is Graf Zeppelin. Graf Zeppelin, honestly is to me what other CVs should kinda be like. Of the three armaments GZ has, two are pretty terrible vs DD, as the AP bombs are rather useless and the torps have bad alpha damage and a DD would need to actually catch one of those slow torps. Meanwhile the rocket planes can wreck DDs, aren't terrible, as they are agile, but they are slow as all hell and you'd likely waste your time if you were to use these for dedicated DD hunt across the map. They are decent enough though to kill a DD that tries to rush you, where their crap speed is of no importance. Obviously though, when every other CV can actually nuke DDs though, the GZ is just that weird CV that has a hard time making up for it by killing other targets, for which one wonders whether it has the damage output. Barely, imo. Obviously, for more normal CVs, I'd consider much slower speed on the torp bombers and dive bombers, but higher damage.

HaachamaShipping replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
IJN torps hurt across the board, USN torps are crap at T10, but there you drop 6, while on T8 they manage respectable damage. RN torps are mediocre. GZ torps are crap. So, while yes, specific CVs do a ton of damage in one flight (notably for their tiers Saipan, Kaga, Lexington, Enterprise and Hakuryu) you need to be just as specific to point out which CVs have bad torp damage. Even GZ with its crap torps would get ~9.5k damage in if it lands three on a BB with average 30% torp protection. Two runs end up at 19k, three at 28.5k. That's not exactly nothing. They aren't DD torps, but DDs have far less means to hit as often as reliably. Also, for comparison, a Shokaku landing all its torps would end up at 40.5k, Lexington is 40.7k, Kaga is 45.3k, Saipan would get 54.3k with the abovementioned circumstances. Even if half their torps miss, something like a Bismarck will feel it. Floods not included. -

I mean, you wanna tell me they can't clone ships? For all we know, tomorrow's AL collab, where we'll get Cleveland 2.0 aka AL Montpelier. And why is IJN DD gimmick this meme crap, while other nations get stuff that actually is useful? Even Yoshino now gets tested for 20 km torps, because that's totally what we needed. 20 km Shima torps no competent player uses on a backline cruiser. Because I guess if Alaska can tank Yamato shells and Stalingrad can citadel the crap out of angled cruisers at 20 km, we now need a cruiser that can torp the enemy at 20 km. Or an ally at around 12. ffs, give Yuudachi stock 10 km torps and reduce gun reload to 5 seconds or something. That'd not be too hard and actually a useful variant.- 87 replies

Truely a tiny hp pool. I cannot fathom how any BB could ever manage with only 91.8k hp. Utterly anaemic. Pls buff. I guess Conqueror is also some no-nonsense design then, given it only has damage control, repair party and not even a plane?
