    T6 Aigle, good?

Only on the extremities all HE pens, like on any T5 BB not names Pyotr Veliky. But actual BBs like Bretagne or New York are a joke in comparison. Hood is basically the most HE-resistant ship at T7, with only the Germans being comparable, but Hood has a 51 mm deck, which means only Yorck and Azuma can pen it, while the vast majority of cruisers and supercruisers fail, even stuff like Hipper. Amagi doesn't tae HE well indeed. But overall, HE resistance is barely a quality of BB vs BC. Heck, Pyotr Veliky is a battlecruiser and it sure as hell is resistant. Meanwhile HE resistance connot be found on any of the USN 21 knot standard BBs or the British from T6 to T10, except on the sole battlecruiser of the British tech tree.

0.8.4 - Changes to Aircraft Carriers

Short of Myoko, there isn't really any T7 cruiser with worse AA than Lazo, is there? Only thing keeping Lazo from being utterly crap is defAA and that doesn't really do much with bad base values to start with.

    T6 Aigle, good?

I stopped counting the amount of Prinz Eugens, Hippers and other silly 27 mm cruisers that went full broadside in front of my 38 cm BB and allowed me to just citadel the crap out of them. I really never found this a big issue, though worst case, load HE. Good chance to also knock out the German engine or straight up detonate them. Only ships with 27 mm that I consider straight up dangerous beyond them torp rushing are T10s and the Alaska. Kongou and Hood are some of the most notable battlecruisers and they have some pretty solid plating vs HE spam.

    What to shoot at CV's?

Judging by what most people unload on CVs... insults?

    T6 Aigle, good?

Unless you have better ships to put your two captains on. e.g. Henri/Repu.

    T6 Aigle, good?

It's a decent ship. But is special and requires some skill to get the most out of it. But cannot say it is bad, especially if you don't get thrown into T8 matches.

    134 planes , T6 cv

2 CVs? And sure, we can argue. Which T6 CV has triple the amount of 76 planes, so 228 planes? I'll be waiting. Enlighten me. Heck, which CV in the game has 228 planes. If you spout nonsense, I very much will take that argument.

    134 planes , T6 cv

And you quoted Langley's hangar size in an argument where we are talking about T6 CVs. Ranger historically carried 76 aircraft, so, well.

    134 planes , T6 cv

It's a defeat, but it is not cause of how the enemy CVs were so utterly broken in being able to waste planes to the bitter end. If you want to blame people, blame your team for having some special BBs. But that doesn't need a thread of its own.

    134 planes , T6 cv

So, first off, single biggest plane killer was you, so arguing their strike capability should be diminished when they lost most planes at the very end is a bit silly. Second, even before then they bled a ton of planes for little result, as seen in the results. By all means, you should consider this result great, the enemy CVs instead of being good gifted your team 134 plane kills. Nice exp.

    134 planes , T6 cv

So, with two CVs giving you this much attention and still being unable to kill you, that's broken? They pretty much wasted most of their time and planes for this, as can be seen by how little they got for it and still couldn't kill you. And yes, there's two resources that got wasted here, which is "planes" and "time" and to argue that this didn't affect their strike capabilities is nonsense, given that they could not do attacks on others while doing attacks on you (which did not kill you, thus being not very effective in damage output) nor do I think they killed much after they were "done" with you (though if they just attacked you to the bitter end, well, as said, you didn't die to that broken strike ability, did you?).

When the alpha is negligible, did you ever consider just eating the torps and not providing broadside to ships due to dodging these low damage torps? Detonations to CV torps also aren't common.

  17. Oh my, look at this. In case people wonder, we are neither dead, nor did we stop recruiting. Our growing community has still a place for new recruits. And for something completely different and somewhat obscure. Unlike [POI--], is this still alive? Cagliostro does not know. Had some nice art tho...

Meanwhile, I don't even consider WG staff to have an idea about their own game half the time.

Given it was too strong with normal torps, it certainly won't get super-DWTs. While I'd not call it a good thing, performance-wise, it'd make Yuudachi good at something at least.

And various posts later, it is stated that they fucked up in checking their facts. Because the Yuudachi isn't even Asashio-tier retarded, it is 20 km Shima brought down to T7. 1.9 km torp concealment on slow af torps and now also crap damage.

Ibuki - what to make of it?

No its not, because it's still too crap to matter. Playing around concealment doesn't mean going on solo adventures around the flanks. You can do that if the enemy CV does not exist or is too bad to exploit your weak positioning. But for example, one of the more common examples of playing around concealment is fire support for DDs, following them just so they spot enemy DDs before these would spot you, so you can unleash a 10 gun pinpoint accuracy salvo of IJN HE and take out like 7k hp from a DD, deciding cap fights easily. Is that flank play? No. Is it vulnerable to AA? Only if there is no good AA around to join up with, in which case the whole cap push was dumb. Is it going to get you killed by BB? Hopefully not, as most caps have islands around which you can use to reduce the angles from which you get shot at. Additionally, you can preemptively turn around so by the time you open up, you already are moving away again, ready to dodge. There's 6 ships you'll encounter on a regular basis with 430+ mm guns, which are Georgia, Musashi, Kreml, Republique, Thunderer and Yamato. There's a plethora of T8-10 BBs with smaller guns. The value of 30 mm plating is decreasing, but nowhere to the point that it is not an upgrade, compared to Mogami and it's 25 mm plating, overmatchable by anything that is T8+ as well as half the T6s and T7s. Heck, if you consider ships like Colbert and Smolensk, those actually should increase the value of 30 mm plating. And sure, you can say you aren't thrilled because Moskva and Henri exist, but Moskva overall is a fundamentally different playstyle and Henri is somewhat different and overall acknowledged to overperform even by WG. Though, it should be stated that Zao is likely one of the best cruisers other than another Henri to counter Henri, due to the heavy and accurate HE salvo, combined with superb maneuverability and concealment for a cruiser.
  22. By that logic, if you balance around the average Joe, CVs are fine. CV averages in terms of performance are well within acceptable parameters. Heck, if I consider the battles I played in the last few patch cycles, half the CVs I don't mind, because they are far from game-breaking. But that doesn't mean CVs are fine or that it's balanced when unicums basically can crap on anyone and everyone whenever they so choose and get ridiculous results. No, a ship has to be balanced also around the top players and not just the average player, otherwise you get ridiculous results.

Ibuki - what to make of it?

I wouldn't call it lucky and 17 km range engagements I do not consider the norm, if you want to have actual impact. If you want to fight like that, go play French cruisers, Saint Louis is better for that. Heck, Donskoi is a better ship for that. Ibuki has sub-10 km detection and such detection should be used to actually get the best results out of the ship. 30 mm deck. Repair party. Very much a survivability upgrade. I was pretty meh on Zao too, most of all because no real dpm upgrade and the torp angles and torp reload are very restrictive. But I grew to appreciate the ship. Imo, the main improvement over the Ibuki is the better gun velocity and the range (with range mod or legendary mod, otherwise turrets don't turn), which you are far better at exploiting, given the higher velocity. The Zao also gives far less reaction time to targets due to shell velocity. Lastly, with legendary upgrade, I run the propulsion mod, which pretty much gives good rudder and good propulsion and makes for a very dodgy ship. I still have the Ibuki (I have all IJN CAs except Aoba and Azuma in port still) and consider her a good T9 ship, but Zao is a decent upgrade imo.
