She already had: worse torpedo damage worse torpedo detection worse gun reload Taking away concealment like this makes it absolutely clear that Yuudachi is going to play in goddamn second line spamming its horrid 15 km torps in fans of 16, for any scrub stupid enough to buy it. 5 km added range and TRB do not make up for being this garbage. Just to add insult to injury, Akatsuki still throws out more torps over sustained periods of time, which are better torpedoes in every aspect except range, has vastly more gunpower (Yuudachi loses out vs a Shinonome even), is much faster, has more hp, better AA (Akatsuki can actually shoot down planes of bad CV players who fly into flak, Yuudachi will never kill anything with its glorious 2(!) Hi-type 40 mm Vickers) and doesn't even enjoy much of a concealment advantage anymore (6.1 km compared to Akatsuki's 6.4 km and Shiratsuyu's 5.8 km or so). I just played a ton of akatsuki today for the event and ffs, I wouldn't want to touch Yuudachi with a 10 ft pole, just because I already know how fun it is to play a ship that has a lot of torps that are spotted easily and have more than enough range for a T7 DD. Imagining playing a ship that has even worse torps, worse mobility and not even the gun power (which on Akatsuki is actually pretty decent) is horrid. And TRB is hardly the greatest thing ever. On Asashio it's brutal, because the torpedoes are absolutely lethal against BBs and the inability to predict whether the torps are reloaded or not helps. But when your torps are this lidl, I'd take concealment over this any day, because concealment is basically what seperates good T7 DDs from bad ones. If you look at what T7 DDs are actually doing well, it's the ones with good concealment, who can get uptiered and not be absolutely useless, which is also why all new premium DDs at T7 basically were good concealment designs, as T7 easily is the least forgiving tier for uptiered DDs and ships like Haida or Z-39 with good concealment retain at least somewhat playability when thrown vs T8s and T9s, while the likes of Blysca, Sims, Mahan and Akatsuki have to treat carefully and are either regarded as somewhat poor performers, have niche roles (Sims was most of all recommended just for farming one operation before rework) or they have solid enough performance outside (Akatsuki basically is decent to great in most aspects aside from concealment).

I mean, are you implying that IJN premiums are bad? Certainly you wouldn't dare call the great Yukikaze-sama bad, would you?

    Kii Secondaries Inconsistency

While not secondary ships, neither is "insane accurate" (sic). Amagi is your typical IJN long range dispersion, but 1.8 sigma. Resulting in it being better than most of those that use German/French/Italian dispersion at most ranges, better than Monarch at long range, but worse than NC, Alabama and Vanguard at any range and worse than Monarch at short range. Kii has 1.7 sigma, it basically can do ok still, but it is far from accurate at most ranges and compensates by throwing 10 shells out where some shells normally hit. Duke of York has one less repair charge, but gets hydro. DoY gets better AA and it has improved pen angles. Reload is not "slightly slower), it's significantly slower at 28 s instead of 25 s of KGV. Kii has 1.7 sigma, Amagi has 1.8. Saying "I even use secondary build on PEF" is like saying you even use it on Massachusetts. Duh, there is no T6 ship where secondary build makes more sense than on the PEF, both because the secondaries are one of its strong points and because it actually provides some added firepower that is sorely needed if you brawl anything with 25 mm or more in armour. And unless you play exclusively high tier, IJN T3-8 absolutely is not worth secondary builds, with the best secondary builds being basically Mutsu, Nagato and Kii, with great dpm against lightly armoured ships but far from competitve or good (especially if pitted vs actual close quarter monsters like Germans). Meanwhile, ships like Iron Duke and Warspite are decent for secondaries, despite being RN, because for their tiers, they have many secondary guns with decent range.
  4. I find this event a well-designed one and though I doubt I'd get anywhere near enough points to get a premium, nor do I need the containers, I'm having fun so far. Also, IJN, because what else? Spend 15 minutes to play a somewhat challenging game and have fun or play 3 5-minute bot clubbing games. Wasting 50 minutes or more to get 2 non-premium aviation containers to me is a waste of my time. Play Sims for 2 points guaranteed.

    Your favorite T5 BB?

Kongou. Solid performance, good handling, solid ship to learn BB gameplay with.

Good luck citadelling a Kii in a cruiser.

    Kii Secondaries Inconsistency

Also Ibuki top hull, Azuma and Yoshino. Worth noting too: As a secondary gun, the 10 cm/65 Type 98 has a 1.7k HE alpha, not 1.4 like the main gun version. Why? No clue. So, there are differences in performance. As for Kii secondaries? Different pen rules being applied isn't new. Bismarck and FdG had that issue already and their buffs are not for "consistency", but to improve performance and make their secondaries stand out vs secondary USN and French. Also, the 14 cm gun issue is far from a real problem, as the Kii carries so few of these that most of the dpm is on the 10 cm guns, the 14 cm guns still pen anything short of T8+ BB hulls with IFHE and those 30 mm T10 cruiser midsections (though, tbf, if you are brawling anything with a 30 mm midsections, chances are, you are about to eat torps, given the secondary range of Kii).

Secondaries : Cruiser HE power at 10 km or not ?

I think it's more, they don't get hits on evading DDs. My GZ got enough hits on straightliners. Not that I argue for much secondary investment on the ship.

    Bluepill me about the Bismarck

Nah, I consider Bismarck to be "sufficient" for T8, given the ship is far more capable of using all four turrets than GK is at T10. Tier for tier, FdG also is better than GK imo, given GK has more hp and more guns (that only approach FdG reload times with legendary mod for a crippling sub-19 km range), while you get otherwise a more mobile ship with pretty much similar functionality in terms of hydro, secondaries, etc. Also, saying Bismarck has not enough hp is one bold statement, when German BBs at t8 are only second to Vanguard in terms of hp pool and unlike Vanguard, German BBs don't eat all the HE pens or have an exposed citadel.

Shchors - How do I play this properly?

Issue with Shchors isn't rudder. It's the 900 m turning circle radius. Even with radar fully on one side, this ship reacts slowly and thus should be kept as far from BBs as possible. It can do some decent numbers on lower tier cruisers though, thanks to its good ballistics and decent dpm.

Ehhh... dafuq? Also, how the hell am I supposed to oath Leander if she is not in the game?
  12. I was told to bump. POI is still recruiting. Preferably people who are willing to bump the forum thread (though we also take those who don't frequent boards). I get the feeling posting the season-appropriate skin gets me into trouble with mods, thus I won't...

I'd hope for a normal camo option on AL Montpelier, akin to the way Harekaze has one. But well, it'd not be surprising for WG to sell the same ship twice just with different camo.

Secondaries : Cruiser HE power at 10 km or not ?

Nah, it's actually 152/6=25.33, rounded down to 25, then one mm is deducted for 24 mm of pen. Without IFHE, Chapayev and other 152 mm guns cannot pen 25 mm plating of same tier cruisers and T6/7 BBs. Mogami can, as 155/6=25.83, rounded up to 26, then one mm is deducted for 25 mm of pen. IFHE (which multiplies above by 1.3) brings Chapayev to 32.93, rounded up to 33, Mogami gets to 33.58, rounded up to 34. Both get 32 and 33 mm of HE pen respectively. But it is important to note that HE pen always rounds and then deducts a mm. In contrast to overmatch, which does neither (457/14.3=31.958, 460/14.3=32.168).

Shooting CV's = Where have the fires and citadels gone??

Patch notes. And it was kinda "necessary", given otherwise CVs would get screwed by automated damecon if a CV repairs itself on the first minor issue and then dies to the follow up without the player having any control over it.

Is it just me or is it getting boring.

North did see a good few changes, from cap location to the big island being split apart. But yeah, certain maps won't get changed much and are predictable, because of two things that kinda have to go into the equation of creating a decent map these days: providing playing opportunities for every kind of ship. A map like ocean, where certain ships basically are just completely screwed overare bad design. Thus, every ship type at some point will figure out where they have to go to do their thing and be useful. symetry, so one team is not worse off than the other. This is especially important for maps that go into competitive rotation in CB or Ranked. And yeah, as you stated, the other maps start to be adjusted to be predictable, because of this.

    Dry Dock: Kremlin

Video imo serves too little purpose. Other videos at least have something "educational". This is just "Look at this great model." I can do that in port too. Also, I'm not sure how to feel about recreating ships accurately when Roon is a WG-design and has absolute nonsensical 15 cm secondaries that neither make sense ingame nor would they have IRL.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

Only reason it'd ever get T4 is if they gave it ASM0 and it basically would be a crap Yuubari with 23 knots speed and bad torps, no AA, worse hp pool, but 2 more guns. I'd guess T3 is more likely at that point.
  22. It was "buffed". And literally noone I saw ever said "damn, we need a more accurate/faster drop". This is WG being WG, changing stuff and messing up. Because unless they were joking about this being a buff, in which case they admit to lying about multiple things at once, this is by no means a buff and is just absolutely retarded. And as I said before in other places (including suggestion thread that likely noone touches anyway), the easiest buff to the DBs to make them more worthwhile would have been to change from 4x2 to 3x3, so you get some actual strike potential out of your goddamn dive bombers.

    Georgia/Ohio topkek thread

Already now, you'd invest 4 points into IFHE...
  24. HaachamaShipping

    Georgia/Ohio topkek thread

It'd make IFHE build insane though. If you take CptBarney's stated 5 s reload and assume USN 152s, tis'd likely be the most insane secondary armament in the game with IFHE, both in dpm and in what it can pen.
  25. Even in the few cases where it worked, WG cannot convince me that the change in drop pattern is a "buff". It's a nerf in pretty much every way and makes this carrier just terrible to play, especially with the speed nerfs. Like, before the patch, GZ was the Bismarck of CVs. It was maybe not the greatest CV, but at the end of the day, it got the job done, if you knew what you were doing and it had some strengths that kept it decent. Now it's the Hipper of CVs, that can choose between one armament that is consistent but aneamic and AP that isn't terrible if it doesn't just ricochet or miss. Together with other questionable strengths and no clear role. Watch as next patch torp damage gets buffed and the dive bombers will never be touched again, unless you run out of torp bombers, because the torpedoes at least are consistent. Not that it makes GZ a good ship (it basically puts TBs back to where they were before this f***-up), nor is it a good design, because any ship that has to never switch ammo/plane type (be it because one ammo/plane type is so good it dominates the others, or all others are so garbage they cannot even get the job done for which they are specialised, same outcome) is terrible design. Until the DB issue is adressed and DBs are actually useful, there's pretty much no reason to actually play this piece of junk carrier. And if the whole fiasco showed anything, then that WG still has no clue how to play their own damn game, because anyone with some clue of how dive bombers work knows that this is by far the most cancerous drop pattern in the entire game. Like, the only thing that makes RN CV level bombers worse is the bombs having no pen, but otherwise even level bombing is better. GZs bomb drop pattern already before had the false appearance of being better due to "ease of use", when straight down-dive meant that you had to spend more time than any other CV in an approach without damage mitigation from being in attack mode (though it at least was a bit mitigated by the very fast speed) and for any slingshot memes, this is likely the worst drop pattern anyway. With the new approach, consistency flew out the window too and you get the least time to aim a drop and if you don't target well, the bombs skip off the deck, pen the upper deck but fly past anything important or miss completely and with 2 bombs per run, anything other than a citpen is a waste of your time and effort in damage output.
