Yeah, the step up from Colorado to NC feels like the ship got much better, but guns didn't. NC guns aren't terrible, but shell velocity does matter, especially when you have targets that actually pay attention. T8 isn't really worse off than T5 or T6 most of the time, except that T8 ships get the tools to handle the MM they get, T5-7 is screwed across all classes if they get +2 MM.

Wouldn't consider Atago a glass cannon, given there is no tankier t8 against high tier match making. 41 mm deck that bounces Yamato shells and shatters most HE beats even Prinz Eugen's 27 mm plating that is impervous to 38 cm and lower AP. For its tier, not sure if Yoshino can even boast similar survivability to Atago, though I have hopes the 30 mm will at least keep it from being Azuma-grade fragile. Overall, I'm going to buy it for coal, also because I have no interest in Colbert, Smolensk or some DD in the current meta of the game.

reason to take dcff over other t1 skill?
HaachamaShipping replied to SkollUlfr's topic in General Discussion
It doubles the amount of fighters you get on Kuma. Best AA skill at T4. -
Or use AP on the right targets at the right distances.

Kurfurst is best secondaries brawler. Who is second best?
HaachamaShipping replied to Bartleby74's topic in General Discussion
At very short ranges and no pen buff fixes that. Belt armour on most BBs is like 300+ mm. Also, only against ships that show their broadside to you and that are not DDs (which have no armour belt, unless it's Khaba. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Bartleby74's topic in General Discussion
Go inbetween two ships and you get crossfired and die. Keep all the heavy hitters on one side and you can tank them. You usually don't need both torp salvos for one ship, given you got main battery guns. If you need both sets, you also don't need to pull a full 180°, as the angles on the torps are generous. There is no "overkilling". If you think a ship dies to torps anyways and needs no secondary fire, don't select it as secondary target. Manual secondaries will allow you to focus the ship that is not already about to die even harder. Frankly, I don't get why people say Manual secondaries is not worth it on a secondary build (at T7 or higher), because the benefits are so large and the counter-arguments are basically "but then my secondaries won't fire on both sides when I push into positions that have a high chance of getting me killed". -

Gneisenau can easily be built into secondaries, especially as the ship requires no IFHE to pen same tier BBs with them. Synergises well with torps and the speed of the ship. -

Bump. Some summery art to enjoy. I must admit, I do like to watch the seaplane models in port. One of the sad things about the rework is how silly the seaplane launch has become though. -
Yes I know.

Svietlana I played this ship again when helping out someone with getting through low tiers and was intrigued, as I got Krasny Krim and Svietlana is basically the same ship, just on a better tier with even some stats being better. 15 Soviet 130 mm guns that punch well for the tier, excellent ballistics, benefit from AFT and BFT, 4x3 torp tubes with 5 km 39 s reload torps (though crap damage) and lulziest of all, a citadel that is encased in 25 mm and thus cannot be AP penned when angled by anything. Absolute topkek design. I know, RN cruisers get similarly weird armour schemes, but Svietlana has no exposed citadel deck of 16-25 mm, nor is she confined to those anaemic AP shells.

I'd prefer actual Leander skins over mini-Leander. -
Harugumo - overpowered main battery

Half the shells Harugumo fires at Moskva are shatters for 0 damage. And what is "enhanced SE"? -

Because they can now deal with dumb DDs, cruisers inside the range and BBs in brawls. There are more ship types than DDs that a BB will engage. -

I mean, The secondaries cannot kill a DD fast enough unless the DD is dawdling around or on low hp. Meanwhile, a good Bismarck could survive such an encounter anyway, given Bismarck has hydro and after it dodges the torps, your DD is basically just a minor annoyance. -
Up to Tier 5, they aremostly tanky dreadnoughts with decent firepower, but slow speed. Up to Tier 6, their turret traverse is also horrid. From T6 to T10, their armour becomes all-or-nothing, meaning they got thick belt, but the rest of the ship is protected by minimal plating. Currently from T9, RN BB get a massively improved repair party that keeps them alive despite mediocre armour and low hp pool and announced changes will give a less radical version of improved repair on Tiers 7 and 8 soon. High level RN BBs also have low detection range, meaning they are hard to spot and outspot some same tier cruisers. They also have improved HE shells, while their AP has short fuzes, meaning they detonate faster after penetrating armour. This makes them oft better at deleting cruisers and a bit worse at penetrating BBs where the citadel is not right behind the belt. Overall, RN BBs for scrubs are about throwing HE at long range at anything and farming damage while being hardly useful. For decent to good players, it's about using your concealment advantage to get into good positions, surprise enemies, use HE to deal with targets that think they can bowtank you or DDs.

Alaska is a mid-range ship, not a long range ship. And it does rather well at mid-range.

HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Maybe that's why in low tiers secondary builds are a joke and at high tiers, no DD has to rely on yolo rushes to get their job done. Like, the sole DD with stealth torp issues at high tier is the Khabarovsk, which usually however just guns you down from outside secondary range while dodging return fire. -
Depends on player in the ship. Both are good ships at their tiers with potential if played to their strengths. In randoms, I really wouldn't care. Only in stuff like T9 Ranked, Alaska is a better choice imo.

It only goes to 12 km, but sure... Also, Moskva can get there do and would have finished you faster. 404 Situational Awareness not found The Stalingrad has a detection range way in excess of its radar range. The only reason it may not have been spotted is because it was covered by islands, in which case, why the hell were you pushing into B cap, without knowing what is there and the possibility of the 12 km radar being there? It'd likely have been a way smarter approach to torp the Kremlin and Iowa, before going around wide in the North, where you can see what is around B before pushing into it. With that ship disadvantage, cap disadvantage and point disadvantage, sure, you might want to do some plays to get back, but you basically threw your ship away. Please don't call ships OP just because you slipped up and misplayed. Own up to your mistakes.

I notice that the citadel changes on British BBs do not come with accuracy changes. *sad Monarch noises* -

I mean, if you insist on suicide rushing a BB from 8 km while somehow being spotted at that range, and too inept to dodge the secondary shells that still are mostly all over the place, sure, yes, you deserve to get deleted by secondaries. Yolo torp rushes were hardly ever a smart idea and in the few cases where they gave worthwhile results (e.g. by jumping out from behind cover) they still work, because guess what, when you pop up at 3 km from behind an island, secondary build doesn't make the BB magically scarier than they were years ago when Nagato secondary spec was a thing, it might even make it worse, because in the short time people might be slow to ctrl+click your ship. -

Tirpitz has 7.5 km range stock, 11.3 km with all applicable upgrades. Your DD has a concealment of 5.5 km. Secondaries do not fire on unspotted ships. -

If you die to GZ secondaries, you did something wrong. Also, GZ carries a good few 15 cm guns that already pen the 21(!) mm of Gearing hull plating (as well as BBs, because you know, German). Also, Daring gets a ton of other things, like improved AP bounce angles. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Why is it absurd? Bismarck/Tirpitz follows in the footsteps of FdG, GK and Gneisenau thus, having secondaries that can directly pen other BBs. Thus, French got fire chance, USN has accuracy, Germans have penetration as their secondary strength. -

Yes. With IFHE, they can pen BB hulls too.
