Better Alpha Strike Upgrade for disgruntled FILI Player
HaachamaShipping replied to MightyMac22's topic in General Discussion
Myoko has better accuracy though and in T7 top tier matches (or single tier like Ranked), being able to just lolpen Fiji/Payfast through the bow has its very own value. Both ships have their value though and the Helena by no means is a weak ship. I kept both in port (also because Helena got that nice-looking free permacamo), though I must admit, I play Myoko more. Feels more exciting to me than Helena, where I pick some islands, then dakka, move up to next cover, dakka more, then finish the game on solid damage numbers. Helena likely is responsible for my most boring Kraken game ever. -

That just means that OP has to get better at Fiji, but not that he needs to be less focused on kills if mission asks for those. And what of those matters when it comes to alpha strike potential? Helena is a good cruiser, its alpha is decent, but it is nowhere as applicable as Myoko. Myoko's guns are, after all, basically all about throwing out large hurt every salvo, which is why things like reload and turret traverse are lackluster. Same way you can look at Pensacola vs nürnberg and argue that Nürnberg is way more comfortable with handling, yet Pensacola is only rivalled by Graf Spee in its ability to potentially oneshot cruisers, as a cruiser at T6. Because it packs a heavy salvo of good guns, with the balancing being abysmal turret traverse and long reload. After all, Pensacola guns can be found with better traverse and reload on the New Orleans, Indianapolis and even the Wichita and obviously are still competitive there. Myoko guns are the same as you can find from Furutaka to Ibuki and obviously only turret traverse and reload keep it in line from being obscene when you consider that Ibuki for t9 still has good firepower. So overall, I think it still is true, among T7 cruisers, the best alpha in practical terms is the Myoko. Until the day when WG gives us some T7 supercruiser or something (P-class cruiser? Though even P-class only has 6 guns, so, eh). -

Guy in chat has no idea. Myoko has the best cruiser armour at T7. Period. Myoko has 25 mm centre section that bounces many same and lower tier BBs and 32 mm deck that bounces all but Musashi. Next best cruiser armour is yorck with 25 mm centre section and 25 mm deck. Then comes Algerie with 22 mm centre section and deck. Then Indianapolis and New Orleans, former having 22 mm centre plating but 16 mm deck and the latter having 19 mm aöll over, except belt, which has a 32 mm section towards the front. Helena, Boise/NdJ, Shchors and Lazo are all overmatchable everywhere except the very belt and the Fiji and Belfast can even be overmatched by 203s on the bow. As to gun firing angles, wiggle the ship. And yes, you should be able to do decent. IJN cruisers aren't terribly hard to play for a cruiser line. In practical terms, Helena cannot challenge Myoko overall for me, because Helena's AP is garbage at anything but close range. Pensacola I mentioned. Wyoming and Gangut are BBs. Also, by that metric, König Albert offers 10 guns, but one tier lower. If you just want absolute numbers, Lyon offers 16 shells at T7. -

HaachamaShipping replied to bloodynicknames's topic in Battleships
Basically this. GK is just even more unwieldy, it throws more shells, but at worse reload (unless you run legendary mod for sub-19km range) and overall, it's just a more extreme version. Which sucks, because KM Bbs aren't a niche most people want to specialise in. The fact that FdG got the 105 pen buff made it imo tier for tier more enjoyable than GK and the fact Bismarck gets it soon means you don't even need the FdG anymore to run IFHE secondary memes. I have the ships still in port, but only because of things like the snowflakes event, where it's good to have the ships. I don't even have captains for them anymore, because if I want an enjoyable secondary brawl, Gneisenau and Bismarck are just more fun. -
Indeed, it was a nice experience, though the way ingame times were stated was confusing, when it stated 18:00 CEST for EU, but started at 17:00. Otherwise, fun mode and very well-received by our clan.

Myoko. Most destructive alpha among T7 cruisers, given it has 10 203 mm guns. Obviously, dpm is far less than Fiji and the ship plays quite differently, but if you just want alpha, here you go. Overall also a solid ship, though it really is a different playstyle. Other T7 heavy cruisers aren't that terrible either though, with USN bringing better AP bounce angles, so you can use AP more reliably, Yorck bringing German AP, so a pure AP salvo from Yorck is just as destructive as Myoko's and Algerié having reload booster to follow up on its 8 gun salvo far more quickly than any other CA. But I still consider Myoko to be the best overall in terms of per salvo damage, due to great AP alpha (RIP Fiji/Payfast), great HE alpha (RIP DD) and great accuracy. In case you aren't restricted to T7, Graf Spee and Pensacola at T6, Alaska, Kronshtadt, Stalingrad and Yoshino at T9/10. OP makes a valid point though that kills can matter when WG at times put up missions to get kills. For Ranked, it's pointless, for missions though, it can matter. -
This is certainly the dumbest reason I ever heard for inflicting team damage. If you know the armour profile of the Alaska, you would know that it can bounce shots but has also plenty of overmatchable area. If you don't know the armour profile, ffs, that'd be even worse. Either way, what the hell is wrong with you? It's like going around pushing people in front of cars "because last time I saw someone managed to still dodge out of the way". Like, it'd be almost better if you had been shooting people for being absolutely useless, which naturally still isn't an excuse for such behaviour, but at least just says "anger issues". God knows what to call this kind of behaviour...

Not like we see the ship and in terms of gun stats, isn't she just an Atago?
-
At least not the most expensive torps. But that's some hefty ammo cost.
-
vs T10 CV? Bismarck gets dumpstered by T8 AP bombs already. T10s aren't that much worse. vs T10 DD? You have a hydro and threats like Shima aren't really worse than Kagero. Play at distance in the opening minutes, but never play there all game. Stay close to your AA support, which typically is some cruiser, which makes it a little bit more costly for CVs to target you, if it's some USN cruiser it keeps DDs at arms length and it makes sure you actually keep up with the flow by being closer to the action where Bismarck performs decent.
-
203 Mogami (why?) on left, Baltimore on right. Not exactly hard given shell names and HE alpha. Also, it's Mogami, because most other IJN CA fire faster, Furutaka would have way less range, the Atago fires every 16s and it's a captain with IFHE giving 44 mm HE pen. As to Chapayev, solid cruiser, but wouldn't hype the radar too much. 12 km reach is nice, but 20s duration with 6s delay makes it quite the poor teamplay radar. Personally, I consider Chapayev the least radar threat of T8 radar cruisers as a DD, because most others will be closer when radaring, with longer duration.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
HaachamaShipping replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
Good. Cag is easily one of my most favourite characters for what she is. GBF has many great characters, but Cagliostro to me is just the best concept I found and that alone gave Cag a spot in my dark team despite being kinda counter to the meta back when I played. Thankfully I now managed to finally build a Shadowverse deck that can make great use of Cag. Funnily enough with Cagliostro there'd something I found already with Kancolle, in that I do have characters I love for waifu value (Arashio) and some other that become second favourite because they have a character that I can empathise with (Kasumi). And yes, I get the statement. Overall, to me, potatoes are potatoes. Often useful, Kinda nice, but at some point nothing I get too excited about. -

Nah, that's just Cagliostro with self-made pet Ourobouros. Also, current image is Easily top tier waifu. I'm not into loli, but Cag certainly has character to make up for it. -

Too bad. Cagliostro-chan is a great character. Cutest Genius Alchemist there is. I won doubloons. Clan leader said I should change my name with them. It was late at night after CB. -

Yes. She did. And if you listen to it, you know it is Sakura Tange. Kitakaze Sounds very Cagliostro. -

HaachamaShipping replied to Natsuzuki's topic in Clan Recruitment
Well, given WoWS will survive for a few more patches, not just 0.8.7, I guess I should bump this thread and say we are still recruiting. And no, we aren't desperate for members, our community is developing well. we just like to meet new folks. Don't believe me? Check our Discord. Now, let's hope this game keeps developing in a good direction too. And better not take anything for granted these days. Things can get worse at the drop of a hat. -
Naval Training Center - Ideas & suggestions
HaachamaShipping replied to Crysantos's topic in General Discussion
Well, as far as I saw it, this is to give people who got most lines to find something new to grind towards and to get people to not just play T10. Going by that, my suggestions for the grind are: Don't make people delete a whole line, just give the missions for lower tier ships. Like, take your currency, split it along the line from the tier where it starts to T9 and let people grind it via missions given upon selecting the line you want to regrind that season and doable in the elite version of the ships up to T9. The reason for that being that a. people need their higher tier ships for competitive modes, they might still want them for games inbetween just for fun and it allows for skipping some ships that people really don't want to play. First is due to how CB and Ranked rotate, I for example already considered which 3 lines I'd regrind, mainly BB lines (and German cruisers), because I know they'll likely not be meta or if they are, there are others in the clan to fill the role. By not taking away the ships themselves, I also don't have to make considerations in that regard, so I'd actually be able to just regrind whatever I want, not just what I don't need. Also, as a CB lineup is 6 CL/CA/DD and 1 BB, obviously that'd favour regrinding BB lines, which causes more BBs in the queue, which is the last thing we need. As to skipping individual ships, I think it'd be fair, as people might leave out the most notorious suckers, but that comes at the price of not getting the special resource for the ship. Maybe not make it a regrind from T1, but maybe T2 or T3. Minor thing, but let's be real, does WG want us to populate the T1 matches more? These ships are for beginners, they offer little intricacy to their design, they only ever get same tier MM for a reason. In the original proposal it would also just have been one game, because after one decent game, you'd usually leave that tier anyway. Suggestions on the reward side: Special ships seems what you already go for yourself and I guess a safe bet. I would suggest that apart from Colbert and Ohio, special ships are more in the T5-7 range, so that people also have incentives to play in those tiers afterwards. And there's quite a good few decent historic ships you can put there. And please don't dump the VU, Leone or Yahagi there. Not without fixing all the issues that kept them away till now (because every single one of the three is a disaster to play). But there's interesting and historic ships that could be put there, like a non-AA focused Mackensen at T5, or an upgraded late-war Kongou at T6, maybe HMS Ajax or HMS Yorck at T6, for DDs, all kinds of ships come to mind, like how about taking Akatsuki, giving her 8 km range torps and and better guns? In general, you could keep the ships as similar to already existing ships (as all my proposals were), which saves costs on your part and keeps with the theme of revisiting mid-tiers. And heck, I sure don't run out of premium ideas for those tiers. I don't know why you stated economic bonuses were not workable. If they are, that'd be something. If not (because, I don't know, maybe you don't want even more free exp around), allow maybe to unlock for tech tree ships the ability to mount any captain with a special upgrade purchaseable with your new currency. It's a QoL thing, doesn't cost you much, doesn't make premiums redundant, doesn't distort the meta or provide much in extra resources. Special camouflages. Like, the historical ones you sold for doubloons, it might be interesting to have other such ones for the new currency. For premium ships they might get normal premium camo bonuses, for tech tree ships too, or just make them some middle ground, if you don't like giving away premium camos. As with ships, I'd argue, keep it for mid-tier ships. Maybe special commemorative flags just to show off that we grinded a certain ship. legendary upgrades that you suggested are interesting, but the ones currently available already vary widely in usefulness, so that should be reviewed before new LU's arrive. Also, either make the LU grind tied to this instead of the T10 ship, or if new LU's are to be tied to this, I guess they'd not be T10. In which case, keep it T8-9, because alternative versions of some mid tier ship might confuse people quite a bit. An oath ring once we got the ship to lvl 100 wrong game, sorry. -
If it was, job well done, WG. I was actually half-considering buying DoY bundle because with buffs it might be a decent ship for randoms. But you know, I buy no ship to just play for two months.

305s theoretically can do it further out at more lenient angles (as long as no autobounce). I say theoretically, because you first need to hit things. Practically, it also matters against some of the better protected cruisers, as for example a Zao would struggle to citadel a Yoshino at 15 km, due to having an inclined 178 mm belt behind 30 mm plating. Yoshino meanwhile doesn't care as much. The only issue Yoshino has is that if targets angle, it bounces off and for normal pens, HE is a better option most of the time.
-
I don't take it, because for dodging at 20 km it's fine and most shells that hit me when dodging are strays. I prefer having the concealment, because Unspotted Yoshinos don't get shot at Unspotted Yoshinos can move around more freely. High visibility Yoshino would start feel Stalingrad syndrome of being often unable to disengage. I prefer not to get vastly outspotted by Brit BBs, Roma, NC et al. Having cruiser-like concealment is nice for any cruiser vs cruiser fights, where Yoshino is likely one of the better supercruisers against people who don't broadside. Though Yoshino AP can be absolutely devastating to cruisers who don't angle at short to mid ranges. As stated in my other topic, the ship does have cruiser accuracy at 7 km and is about 14 m worse in horizontal dispersion at 15 km.
-
Still better than Stalingrad or yoshino, which are "cruisers".

I think more important as to why steering mod is less useful than one might think is that on most BBs, either they are slow as hell or their turning circle limits their turning rate far more than rudder shift does, either way meaning that rudder shift will hardly get you of harms way with speedy dodges. Also, RN cruisers are better off with steering gears... as they cannot mount prop mod.
