I'm just saying, your logic rather makes it more likely than not. -

The CN server already has the retrofit, thus such inconsistency in translation might very much be a hint that we'll get the retrofit on EN too. -
Mainz also has less HE damage on the shells. Frankly, I'd just have given Mainz the Nürnberg guns with all the stats of these guns, including the 16.5 km range, because that'd give them some good dpm, the range still is good and when compared with the likes of Cleveland you trade the consumable loadout and better concealment for close range torps and armour. Would be a solid ship. Like this, just go get a Bayard, I'd say.

Got Conte di Cavour from shop too? Also, that moment when you check Trento skills just to see it's Full Firepower and All-out Assault. -

Littorio in general has a great personality. I just hope that barrage skill gets a bit more usefl as I level it up. -
Huang He does not have deep water torps. It can hit DDs/cruisers.
-
Tell that to Huanghe then. I disagree that it is OP, given: the rest of the ship is still bad. unlike combinations such as smoke+hydro or smoke+radar, there is little synergy between the two consumables that would allow an incredibly strong play warranting being OP. All you get is being able to throw out 16 crap torps in short succession without sacrificing your smoke. this especially becomes relevant when you consider that this ship is basically bad across the board. Unless it can make the most out of a 16 torp wall of easily spotted torps, it's just not a very worthwhile ship.
-
Crap. No. 15 km torps that are second only to 20 km Shima torps in their detectability and how much reaction time the enemy gets. Bought at the cost of: torpedo damage (only 15k) concealment (yes, that thing that kept Shiratsuyu relevant in T7) gun reload (Shinonome outguns you) It's a garbage boat that isn't worth a dime, unless you like spamming 15 km torps in the hopes of hitting stuff. Frankly, take an Akatsuki and you get better speed, better guns, better torps, more torps per minute and while your concealment isn't great, neither is Yuudachi's. It pays off to look up the things WG isn't telling you.

Meanwhile, got Littorio, 2x Formidable, 2x Giulio and Zara. Can't complain. Working on getting the others now through exchange. These ships have interesting skills, which I wonder what they'll be like in battle in terms of effectiveness. Though, Zara's skill seems awfully familiar... Can't wait for one day Vittorio Veneto and Purplelulu. -

I mean, I'm talking after I sold all RN CLs via Research Bureau. Got Leander yesterday after all the low tier stuff. First game: -

Weymouth to Danae can use some help. But general issue that cruisers at T3-4 are roadkills in a tier with crap like buffed Houshou and Gangut. Rest is ok. Neptune could use some concealment buff, but otherwise is ok. Just sucks when you can get outspotted by DD and not radar, when your ship is this easily killed. -

Alright folks, we now know the remaining ships we get, as well as a ton of skins. First off, full art for Giulio Cesare and newly announced, Conte di Cavour. Imo, solid designs. Giulio is likely my favourite design of this event, Littorio second and would be first if the cuffs weren't tricolore. Minor thing that tips the balance, both are great. Then we have Pastalulu, or Zara as she claims. But that won't fool me. Frankly, things I really like, some things I just cannot come to terms with. But hey, she will have her fans. Lastly, a whole set of new skins. Without silly cuffs, Littorio here beats Giulio in my books, though Giulio with a smile has Kashima vibes. Both are great. Trento and Formidable are nice, though I don't care about swimsuits here. Honolulu doesn't even try to hide her identity, using the same swimsuit again, though she changed her hair. JB, Tirpitz and such will surely get fans, Seattle and Deutschland are cute. Carabiniere posted in preceding post obviously also looks great. -
More fire or more pen for HE atlanta?
HaachamaShipping replied to Captain_Campbell's topic in General Discussion
IFHE reduces it to 4%, not 2%. For calibers below 139 mm, the penalty is only 1%. I go IFHE, because in same tier matchmaking, it allows to full pen BBs, while when getting uptiered, you also need it to pen cruisers. So, unless you want to be an absolute roadkill to enemy cruisers in a T8 or T9 match, it's very useful to have IFHE. -
Even then I'd use it over range, just because then I drop AFT for CE or FP.
-
In terms of surviving HE spam, I'd rate Yamato third after Kremlin and Conqueror. Kremlin gets better grades for Russian damecon, Conqueror for superheal and having an easier time to disengage. Obviously, there also are situations were normal damecon might give better results and if Conqueror cannot disengage, it dies far faster than Yamato.

It's a non-issue, because MM tries to mirror ships of type and nation. If it fails to achieve that, well, potentially one team gets less radars. But for one, ideally all ships are useful in some capacity even without radar (and you cannot claim that the Henri or Zao aren't useful ships) and not every line should be the same, which is where we'd end up if everyone will have to have the same consumables or characteristics to make any failed MM truely equal. Balancing between nation would only make sense if teams truely consisted of only a single nation, but that's not the case. And the issue of radar is just one because smoke exists. If you'd take away smoke for example, the meta would reverse, as the nations with non-radar cruisers are going to have the upper hand in exchanges at range, where only Moskva and Stalingrad can boast good ballistics, but with lackluster dpm. Historical stuff would be best adressed in operations, where you don't have equal quantity and quality balancing anyway. Not that it matters, as most historical battles involve at most T8 ships, not T10s.
-
Not even Yamato with overmatch makes a no-radar nation like this an appealing choice, much less Shima. If it's single nation, then you'd likely go USN, because DesMo is solid, LU Gearing does basically Shima's job and Montana is also still solid. Russians with Grozo/Moskva/Kremlin and British with Daring/Mino/Conqueror are the only other factions I'd even see anywhere close to viable, as French and Germans also would get countered by smoke and for the Germans, Kurfürst, Hinden and Z-52 is a dreadful lineup. And the UK lineup is way harder in skill requirements, as vs US, you give those DesMos any side and you die, while vs Soviets, one Stalingrad can screw you over hard. Single nation lineups are terrible, because the balance isn't created with single nation in mind. And certain nations like the Pan-Asians or soon Italians don't even have a full set of ships. Noone is going to run 7 goddamn Yueyangs outside memeing around.

Hotspot is also a good candidate.

A small bit of fun... when was the last time you saw Tier VII Random battle with 6x CV, 16x BB and 2x CA/CL ?
HaachamaShipping replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I'd rather be the Königsberg than the Pensacola though. At least then I get 16.5 km range and some solid dpm. Also, if you have to yolo, Königsberg gets torps. -
The difference between Ismail & Warshite
HaachamaShipping replied to Bratwurst_Bob's topic in General Discussion
Ah yeah, because QE has the old Warspite turret traverse from the times when Warspite turrets were glacially slow. I can totally see why you'd play QE instead. -
The difference between Ismail & Warshite
HaachamaShipping replied to Bratwurst_Bob's topic in General Discussion
In Ops, you fire AP at whatever you planned to initially shoot at and then load HE for the DDs. Just dodge the torps. Bots torp on the white line and Warspite is nimble. -
Doesn't matter if you can do more stuff if most of the things you can do is mitigating but not countering advantages of enemies and/or not applicable. e.g. a hydro advantage mitigates an enemy torpedo advantage, but hydro is not on all game and it only detects torps, not removes them, thus area denial torps still do their job. Range advantage at T10 for example is great, because when everyone plays cruisers, having more range to actually shoot is great. But what is the use of 19 km Kutuzov range when basically the sole enemy you spot and can hit at that range is the enemy BB and the rest of the ships are DDs that are either unspotted or too nimble to hit at long range? Yes, DD spam play is different from playing traditional cruiser lineups. But it is because T8 cruisers (and indeed pretty much all cruisers below T8 too) cannot stand up to other classes the same way T10 cruisers can, that their gameplay is either compromised or invalidated outright, to the point that DDs take over as the mainline ships. And you can get by with 0-1 radar ship, when basically all but one ships of yours enjoy a permanent vision advantage on a typical cruiser lineup and any DD lineup you face just shares the radar starvation. It isn't simplistic, it's just ackowledging that the cruisers at T8 are a shadow of their T10 versions, far more than T8 BBs or T8 DDs are of their T10 versions. And for that reason, they have issues getting anwhere as much impact and are thus often replaced by DDs. The single ship that can boast anywhere as much utility as its T10 counterpart is the Atago when compared to Zao and even then, a Zao on its own is not a workable lineup and a Zao in a DD fiesta would not necessarily be a useful ship.

Might be. I did not pay that much attention. I just noticed that it was named after Sardinia and later it was named after Sardinia. Name and style of ships suggest that the theme of Sardegna will be very Regal, putting the Regia in Regia Marina (which also used the Coat of Arms of Savoy, thus the Sardegna symbol is even more fitting) with some influences from past Roman glory (the Empire part). I really like the way they designed Sardegna and its ships so far, certainly a faction that can hold its own and might become a second favourite of mine after Royal Navy. Also, for comparison: Also, I love deep green... -

We knew it'd be Sardegna from the KGV skill that gave bonus damage vs axis ships. As to where the name derrives from, that is rather easy: It's the Italian name for Sardinia. And the Kingdom of Sardinia or Sardinia-Piemont was the leading power on the Peninsula that unified Italy in the 19th century to establish itself as the Kingdom of Italy. You can see the Sardegna symbol as inspired by the Coat of Arms of the House of Savoy, rulers of Sardinia and later Italy. -
