Because a CV with 4 squads that actually also have downtimes between sorties and are a good bit slower can spot all caps and still strike. Just sacrifices most of its strike ability for it, because any cruiser with defAA will just murder the single strike squad left after you used three squads to light up three caps. Torps amidships are cit damage and for anything without repair party, any damage is pretty much the same. Totally not the case that all the CVs that don't have AP bombers currently have means to put multiple fires and floods on your ship to force damecon. In fact, if you don't play something slow like Ark Royal, you can basically waste enemy damecon AND get the follow-on flood/fire to farm damage still. On the RTS you couldn't do that as easily, especially not in something like Saipan that has only a very small amount of strike planes.

Exeter has a repair party and better concealment, Furutaka has actual armour, better weaponry (across the board) and better speed. Clearly, Yahagi is OP af. Right?

Yes, I'm sure. It has a big hp pool, actual armour worth a damn, good torpedo armament with 10 km range, guns that overmatch other T5 cruisers and have DD accuracy, good speed, heavy hitting HE...

Furutaka is hands down the best T5 cruiser, so, well...

Monaghan is ok. Only case for complaints I'd see kinda justified would be getting Graf Spee when you already have HSF Graf Spee. Because that really would just be "Why?"

You mean the things that have no AA and currently can get oneshot by bombers?

I blame the overwhelming alpha of RTS CVs. With rework CVs, team often kills what you are spotting and attacking. If you have a heal and don't take tons of cit damage, sure, you can try.

Not out yet. Final stats might change. Also, for comparison, Yoshino secs have 6 km range and are about as potent, Gneisenau secs are better. Sec speccing a Siegfried seems like a waste.

No cruiser really is worth secondary speccing. The most useful might just be Leander and Graf Spee. And even there it's highly questionable.

Then it was an incompetent Shokaku, because a T8 BB may be one of the fiercer T8 AA ships, but not really a hard target for T8 CVs. That's not just an elitist opinion, it's a veritable fact. Good CV players can basically crap even on T8 BBs.

What is "not affected?" There still is differences between people who fly into every flak cloud, people who fly occassionally into one, people who can dodge most of the time, but get overwhelmed when they see too many explosions, people who miscalculate their approach and get wrecked as a result and Touhou master unicums.

I usually take rocket fighters, fly towards the B/C cap, fly to enemy-side cap, pop a fighter, then fly towards A. If I meet DD on the way, I attack that. Then watch where I find easy targets for subsequent strikes.

I see a couple things to be kept in mind: Saipan back in the day was more powerful relative to other CVs of its tier than current Saipan is. A drop in Winrate could be expected, would however not automatically imply anything about the overall state of the rework. Despite better damage values, they aren't even unicum, so clearly there is some added potential there. Yet still it beats out the old CV by a fair margin.

Let's neglect that Minotaur either gets smoke or stealth radar capability over Worcester, gets a superheal instead of just normal heal and 8 torpedoes per side that can be stealth launched or can kill you if you rush it, while rushing a Worcester often can end just in a dead Worcester.

It's not about whether Saipan is competitive vs other CVs currently. It's about whether Saipan is now better or worse compared to pre-rework Saipan. Because if a CV that is known to be one of the hardest to play and likely less powerful overall among the T8 CVs manages to outshine a CV that back pre-rework was pretty well-known for being used for stat-padding, then what does that tell us about the other CVs?

Because noone responded here and I don't feel like making a new thread for the exact same thing, what is the point of Spearfish TB? I'm currently still sticking with the Barracuda, given it's 6 kts and 90 hp (so now even less difference than back when the original post happened) but with a longer restoration time and arming time. Sounds just not worth it. Barracuda works just fine and while speed is nice, 6 kts are imo a bit little, especially given that slower planes with shorter arming time also have a slight edge for point-blank drops.

You can also just use rocket fighters for that though. It'd basically be like more matches with GZ on a team. It'll be frustrating to play against if the player is decent, even if it will be a terrible CV. And Leone, which is the ship I truely expect sometime in the next two weeks. After Yahagi and VU were released like this.

What is the best armament on any British CV so far and the best also Ark Royal? Torpedo bombers. What is the meme armament that is basically one major reason why British CVs are the least influential CV line and only on Ark Royal they are kinda useful for hurting high-impact targets? Carpet bombers. What is the armament option Indomidable lacks? Torpedo bombers. What is the armament option it revolves around? Carpet bombers. Indomitable is a stupid concept. A CV that relies on carpet bombers can only be broken, because either the bombers are broken OP or terrible. Because either they are good enough to be a universally useful armament, in which case the ease with which one can use carpet bombers is completely out of whack with their impact, or the usability matches the ease of use, in which case, where is the high impact option that usually is taken care of by TBs?
