    CV Rework Discussion

That's vs T10 planes that Texas won't see. 500% increase on 700 dps means up to 3.5k dps. A T4 CV flying in their will lose planes way faster. Not that these mental exercises in any way or form are useful though. How is that different to a range restriction? Like, the only way it differs is i you take your aircraft to idle around for pure "spotting". In which case, yeah, I'm not too worried about those kinds of players.

Texas does not have 5.8 km range. Texas lacks long range AA and only has short and mid-range. It has thus no idiot filter in form of flak. What it does have is up to 700+ dps base, before modifiers. While not untouchable, it certainly is not a great first target for CVs among T5 BBs.

    Harugumo legendary module?

They are reconsidering the whole concept of "Legendary Modules".

    CV Rework Discussion

Continuous dps is utterly incapable of preventing strikes in the first place. The only ship with enough continuous dps to maybe pose an issue for any CV in its MM spread might be the Texas (to T4 CVs). But generally, continuous dps is not enough to shut down CVs (which is why good players still hurt you from the get go if they want to). What shuts down CV potatoes hard are two things: flak buffs they fly into and wipe their squad in 1-2 hits their own inability to get basic CV gameplay right, like correct aim or positioning. The first point is tied to long-range AA, thus to the large caliber AA mounts that hardly ever get fully wiped (and on DDs form the main caliber guns). A drop in continuous dps that comes with all your small caliber AA dying does not decrease the flak buffs and thus does not cause much of a degradation of the idiot filter they are. Meanwhile basic CV incompetence is absolutely unrelated to AA effectiveness. A player that does not know how to aim will miss you, whether you have AA or not.

Ha. Sure... Depending on CV player skill and torps used, a torp can be extremely hard to dodge even for DDs. Add to that a single torp hit already wrecks a DD and that some CVs can in fact cross-torp with a single squad and I do not think this is a real solution. Cruisers and BBs would stay screwed anyway. And your suggested 80/100 km range covers multiple high tier maps...
  6. Depends on what you expect of it. Nagato, like Colorado, is a non-nonsense BB at T7. Great main battery, all-or-nothing armour, decent hp pool, no special effects, a joy for BB purists really. It's what made it a staple choice for competitive, until it got kinda powercrept by Sinop which basically does the same job but with better armour, speed and damage control. Additionally, it is T7, so just short of high-tier, where plating increases to 32 mm. If bottom tier, Nagato contributes a superb set of guns to the team, but a bit limited tanking capability, compared to other more tanky BBs, like Hood, Gneisenau or Sinop. For randoms, it is still ok, if you don't want something super special and just want vanilla BB.

If a potato sinks you bit by bit with planes from restoration, what would prevent them from just sinking you bit by bit with planes he could access from the start of the game? If they lose all their planes at the start of the game, why would they suddenly be a threat late-game with half-full squads?

More like, if it makes no difference, why complain about it? It is the current status quo, there is no need to change it if it doesn't improve anything.

That they would do regardless of how the aircraft are supplied. For one, do you think just providing an initial pool of aircraft with no regeneration is going to improve things? Also regarding skill gap. Second, while for now it seems AA is going to stay like this, who knows where this game will be going. One reason why I considered Ark Royal still a decent purchase is because any increase in AA power makes spammable planes more useful than having few good planes.

    Kaga......

Yes, you may get an additional flak wall, because they spawn in time intervals. But given how easy they are to dodge, evading potentially another one is easy. Area for slower planes being smaller made sense when speed boost was percentage based on plane speed. If it still is this way, all it does is make it even easier, because a smaller area to be targetted is a smaller area to be dodged. Instead of throwing flak randomly everywhere. The main challenge of dodging flak comes with TBs. With the British carpet bombers, indeed, as soon as the first wave arrives, just start attack sequence and fly over the flak. But given how useless flak is in this regard, I do not feel it necessary to discuss "how to dodge flak clouds with British level bombers". And with torpedo bombers, indeed, IJN is more zoom and boom, compared to the others (except GZ, which is even more extreme).

I meant larger in that you get more planes from the start than the usual like up to 12 to 14 of each type. Because obviously, if you just take away plane regen and let people work with something like Implacable's 12/12/12 setup, that's not going to work out. The decent aspect is that it limits the amount of OPness the good CV player can get out of the ship vs what potatoes get. For the surface target player, it doesn't change much whether players have to play with fixed hangar size or regenerating planes, except it makes it a tiny bit more equal between CV players of differing skill. And just as much as idiots will waste their planes (which tbh, often are not much of a threat except for spotting), good players will just be able to throw more planes at you from the start.

Just because it is bad doesn't mean it cannot be worse. Just because so many other things need fixing doesn't mean one actually decent aspect is the issue that ruins the rework. Don't have Lexiington, but HE DBs at least do decent alpha damage in an area smaller than a BB. Implacable can do well, but don't expect it to be as easy to carry with as other CVs. The rockets are basically not suitable vs BBs, the torps are serviceable but limited number of planes and IJN torps are better, bombs are absolutely low impact fire farming for the most part. Going for cruisers or DDs with them is RNG-dependent as hell whether it'll do anything significant. If you are faced with a battle of two stupid teams, you can do great though, as the longer the game goes, the more you can pad your numbers with fires and floods and as long as you are up against the average CV player, they are likely not very useful either. If you'd be up against a CV that knows their stuff though, they likely will have much more impact earlier and you'll lose.

CVs already have limited planes, because you can only regenerate so many planes over a certain amount ofmatch time. In fact, this mechanic is likely one that actually does what it should do, reduce the skill gap. Old-style larger but instantly available hangar allows terrible players to throw away even more planes faster, being useless after a few minutes, while for good players, they add greater flexibility in managing their resources, instead of being bound by the timer at times. And reverting to the old system won't do anything to reduce the whining. People will just realise that this is not what they actually wanted, when basically every CV becomes a Kaga and they still get murdered by good CVs.

Implacable cannot nuke ships either. Best you can do is bomb some crap plating BB for 10k or so and a few fires, but for the most part these bombers are just there to give fires. Still a CV though. Still OP af. Still got me through ranked sprint and it's an absolute cancer ship to play against, given it just hands out annoying DoT effects.
  15. HaachamaShipping

    Kaga......

Both are as easy to hit for flak calculations, because in both cases the difference is the same between calculated speed and speed they end up on. Flak spawns in regular intervals regardless of what plane they are shooting at and plane speed does not influence this. If anything, it necessitates flying around flak clouds, which Swordfish are good at, especially given that you don't need to start your attack sequence before reaching the 3.5 km no-flak zone.

    CV Rework Discussion

Ark Royal still is, imo, the most competitive RN CV in the game, tier for tier. Every other RN CV is far too much of a damage farmer and lacks the ability to just nuke things with the bombers.

Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?

Only if you aim for areas where it can pen. As said, it works like high pen HE in that circumstance, not like Brit AP. And just like for example German HE, it will ail to pen citadel belts, because most ships have more than 54 mm of cit belt. Sadly enough, most ships that have this poor armour also have an internal citadel, completely out of reach of the SAP. Let's see what I said... So, no need to tell me that these ships are a bag of garbage. I know as much. tyvm.

Imo, second worst T8 CV after GZ. But still a CV. Just, while GZ is hampered by its abysmal DB being good for AP bomb RNG with underwhelming payoff, while the RF are fairly slow, on Implacable, you are mostly hampered by everything being slow and damage numbers often being dependent on DoT.

Leftover doubs from stuff like getting 50 doubs from log-in events or getting them for grinding PEF after buying it. Also, 1k doub SCs for T10 boats... I do play CV at times, but mainly Implacable or Ark Royal. Tested GZ a while ago too, but blergh.

    Kaga......

Accelerate/Brake has the same speed difference on Swordfish as on any other non-IJN/GZ plane. It throws off Flak by as much as on any other plane.

I rather not. If I wanted to play USN CV, I'd continue on the grind to Lexington. If I want to play premium CV, I got all others too. And all others seem easier to play.

Dunno why you had to quote me for that. Is this in response to my post? Was there a need?

    CV Rework Discussion

Dunno. I Saipan never interested me and while it's a CV, thus pretty powerful, never felt like playing it. FFARs are rather round reticule, 27 mm pen. They are what you get before the USN line gives you the options, as HVARs are similar, but with 32 mm pen, TTs are different.
