    German Containers: Really Wargaming?

Owch. Always have the cost of the Cash Shop ships in mind when you play these things. Brandenburg is £36. Weimar is £24. If you're not getting these things at a discount then cut your losses and stop buying the containers.

    Suggested changes for Submarines

It's a Tiny Violin. For WG's Submarine designers to play a sad song on. Because they've spent several years trying to crowbar this class into the game, when everyone has been telling them they would either be a) boring or b) unbalanced. They're making all the same mistakes they made with CVs.

Hmm. What would be the most appropriate image here? Ah yes...

Developer Bulletin Update 10.10: Initial Comments

Well, you could - but it would be quite specialised. The thing about Italian DDs - certainly in the middle tiers, anyway, is that they're all a much of a muchness, very Ogenevoi-esque (the Italians and Soviets collaborated on DD development, so that's not a surprise). But that's two twin turrets and, on the Italian DDs, two triple TT tubes. A bit undergunned when you consider the RN was putting out the J/K/N classes with three twin turrets and twin quad/pentad torpedo tubes. But you could take the idea of an Esploratori/Fleet scout and use SAP to beef up the DD gun power against other DDs and give them Leone/Genova style torps (they don't do much damage, but they do reload quickly). Some form of short term speed boost and possibly a heal might beef up survivability too. They'd get big at Tier VIII and then we're into similar territory to the new German line.

    New line

Well, they have done that in the past with Wakeful. But I agree that it should be a choice rather than a hull-locked thing.

    New line

It's a strange choice, tbh - the 113mm guns aren't the MkIV/Mk VI turrets from Jutland or Daring, they're the secondaries from Ark Royal. And the actual Didos made that way had four 4.5 inch turrets, not five. But still, interesting...

Developer Bulletin Update 10.10: Initial Comments

No more problematic than the large German DDs.... they're fast, undergunned torpedo boats until Tiers IX and X when they become mini-cruisers.

    New line

Flamu previews the new PA cruisers. Rahmat looks, er interesting. Terrible range on the Main guns and have they modelled both Dido class armaments? He seems to be seeing both 113 and 133mm main batteries.

    Destroyer line for beginner?

It has its uses, for sure, especially now it's gone back to normal and all the subs have left. But would you learn to start with your AA off? Back into caps? How to use hydro and deal with radar? Probs not.

Saving Transylvania HARD is TOO HARD for the average player

Good. Hopefully they can put this Halloween nonsense away under "Events" and put some of the reality-based Ops back into circulation.

    Destroyer line for beginner?

Torp lines suffer in Co-op because the Bots cheat. Well, Ok, they have a certain set of targeting rules which makes it difficult to land the sort of torp salvo you'd get away with in a Random match. Conversely, the fact that you have to get about 2km from a ship in order to torp it means that lines which don't play well in Randoms are hilarious in Co-op (thinking of the Soviets, here). The serious answer is that the British and "Light" German ones are probably the best standard DDs you can get, but bear in mind that you really won't learn about proper DD play outside of random games.

    Suggested changes for Submarines

Nah. Give subs two sorts of torpedoes. 1 - Destroyer ones. They go in straight lines, they're quick. Firing 75 knot torpedoes is going to be a quite effective weapon if done from stealth 12km away, even with poor torp detection compared to DDs. 2 - Homing ones. These are "sea mines". They're Sims/Heavy German DD slow - 40 knots or so. They do less damage. They track, you can guarantee hits with them if the poor target doesn't have any DCP left, but they're much more about harassment then they are about Dev Strikes. The job of these things is to cause floods, waste DCP, not one shot anyone. That's "interesting gameplay" without being situationally massively OP. FWIW Subs also need a proximity detection rework as they are far too strong around caps - the combination of stealth, lack of means of detection and the existing homing torps is way OTT.

ST 0.10.10, superships characteristics. (DB 231)

It's a kind of hyper MBRB which is not a good idea, balance-wise. We know how situationally powerful MBRB is, giving a ship the ability to fire twice that amount of shells in very short period of time is stupid.
  14. No, we won't. Subs are interesting as a class, but not interesting as a series of individual ships. They're also boring to play, wildly inconsistent, and thoroughly toxic to the game. I have a lot of Premium ships and have spent a fair whack of money on them but I can't see *any* way in which I'm going to spend more in this submarine meta. Re-worked CVs made me stop playing random games, but I still had fun in other modes - now I find subs spoil pretty much *everything*. Even in a jolly little co-op brawl you still find some tedious bot sub - impossible to detect - popping up and nuking your ship from 3km with homing torps, to which there is no adequate counterplay. Even if you have all the skills - vigilance, detection modules - you're still going to get walloped unless you've got a DCP available, and that's just luck. It is - to use a great Northern phrase - utter *bobbins*. WG are repeating all their mistakes of 0.8.0 and the CV rework. For all their fine words about learning and adapting, they have taken absolutely *nothing* on board.

Developer Bulletin Update 10.10: Initial Comments

I can't say I'm interested in bigger battleships. The Burst of Fire idea is extremely overpowered and will be unpopular. We already have TRB and MBRB and we know how strong those are. This sort of idea might have worked a few years ago when it was easier to remain unspotted, but this sort of thing is just going to lead to more games being "get spotted, get wrecked". It's an ideal game mode for lower Tiers. Mid Tiers are full of WGs bad idea ships which means balancing buffs is impossible - what helps the Nurnberg is hopelessly OP on a Belfast - and with so much overmatch at higher Tiers, buffs seem irrelevant. Lower Tier ships are often so weak and so wonky though, that buffs would be worthwhile and could be used for fun gameplay. Tier III-IV-V gameplay with capture zones giving buffs to dispersion, speed, secondary range? Why the hell not? All good if it means they're spending more time optimising the graphics. The PA Cruiser Tier III and IVs are the real ones and therefore WG can't be bothered. As for what these ships are... Tier V - Arethusa / Huang He Tier VI - Dido Tier VII - Flint Tier VIII - Ochakov / Flint Tier IX - Seattle (just joking, it's a super light US cruiser with Midway's secondaries for main guns) Tier X - Austin, but with *lots* of torpedoes.

subs literally extract the fun out of the game

Well, cats tend to throw up when they've eaten something nasty. And that is nasty advice from Notser, 100% the type of rubbish we got after 0.8.0. and the CV rework. Just dodge! That's the *really* funny thing about the current version of submarines. They are completely self-destructive to the whole game economy. Why is anyone going to play or spend money on other classes of ships when your game enjoyment can be so quickly wrecked by Submarines?
  17. invicta2012

    Is homing working as intended?

Had that too. I think both the DCP ping cancel and the distance break for the homing effect are very heavily bugged.

    Viva España!?!

I wonder what the Jurua captain is speaking...? Parisians think everyone not from Paris has straw coming out of their ears. But Canadian French is an interesting little branch line of a language, for sure!

Anniversary stream announcements, guess the ship

Good news, been looking forwards to this one.
  20. A module would be a perfect solution. Rework the (now pointless) Torpedo Lookout System in Slot 5 so that it provides this type of information. This could be rolled out to certain lower Tier ships as well a special talent which could be added to Slots 3/4 as needed.
  21. It has always been that way. And it will *always* be like that because every game which involves random teams works this way. It's not just WoWs.

    Auction : The Lighthouse

Having just slagged off Z-44 I took her out for a spin and managed 150k in a Co-op game. Which just proves that there is fun to be had in a DD which spits out torpedoes every 65 seconds but I do find her poor concealment, low speed, mediocre guns and lack of hydro to be a major problem compared to other DDs in any serious mode.

    Auction : The Lighthouse

He he. Don't do it, matey! She's not worth it! (or at least not worth it without a 16pt+ captain).
  24. Quite. No loss of stake, so it's a punt, rather than a gamble. I figured the 100,000 Coal would be 100,000,000 Credits (valuable to me as I could have bought Carnot with Coal rather than Coal + Steel) but it looks as if the stake needed to be higher. Still, the end result of all this is being no worse off, so not a problem.
