There is probably a thread in "Tier IX Ships you Like".
-
I like it better than Agincourt, I have to say. Rarest? Guilio Cesare, Konig Albert. Lesser-spotted? Jurua, Fen Yang, Leone, Mysore, Poltava.

Cheshire is Albemarle's hull, and is made of Explodium. If you want that Tier V cruiser experience at high tiers, go right ahead. I'm told Plymouth is quite good (but that's for Steel) and Gibraltar looks silly (and is only for RP). I'd like a downtiered Drake, really - 3 x 3 203 mm on a durable hull rather than all the guns on a biscuit tin.

French BBs RN DDs Japanese Cruisers This is about fun, not efficacy or the best Tier X ship.

For the love of all that is holy, please fix the second US BB line
invicta2012 replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
WG just wanted the US to have an 18 inch gun Silver ship and those silly Tillman designs gave them leave to do it. I think the Florida/Georgia route might have been more interesting. -
Randoms are angry, angsty and full of CVs. Operations were always a middle ground. WG has promised to revive these, we'll see how that goes. Co-op is painful every time there is an event which can be done in co-op, like the Snowflake thing. It'll pass.

I have a similar problem, none of the coal ships are really singing out to me. I shall probably get either Marceau or Carnot when the Discount Coupon drops as I'm sure I can make use of their great speed. OP, Out of interest, do you have Des Moines or Salem? I understand that Tulsa is more closely related to those two than Alaska.
-
Admiral Hipper. Everyone tells me it's rubbish. But I enjoy playing it. It has enough of everything, no obvious weak spots. Perhaps Random and Ranked have moved past versatility into min/maxing, that's their problem....
-
Well... is Flamu amusing without the game footage or port video? Would a Jingles game commentary be worth watching if you couldn't tell whether he'd actually misidentified the ships involved because you didn't *see* the game? I think the two elements are very closely intertwined and the game company should have not only the rights in their EULA but also the general rights of a copyright owner.

Pretty rubbish game if an individual playthrough was not an original experience, but think about the difference between a file downloaded from WoWs Replays and what you view on YouTube.... Streamers and CC'ers are characters, they provide personality, originality and context to gameplay footage; that's what makes it entertainment and therefore possess value which they monetise. The presentation of the playthrough (voice, dialogue, presentation and narration/characterisation) would almost certainly mean that all CC/streamer content contains original work and therefore becomes a separate, copyright entity, at least within the EU... and that means all third party materials within that content would need to be under a licence of some kind (usually that provided in the game EULA) in order to be used legally.

A competent ship, for sure, but unexciting.
-
It certainly is. The person who filmed or recorded it owns the recording but they may not have the rights to exploit it because of the third party IP it contains. It's the same as using your phone to record pictures of a football match on the TV screen. You don't have the rights to make copies of the images of that game, nor to reproduce them, nor to distribute them, but you do own the recording. As long as you keep it personal to you, no problem. Put it on YouTube? Expect trouble.

No. But it's more *fun*.

All fair points. But while there is still a lot to criticise, this Black Friday is WG from 2018/2019, with a sale which actually appears to be about discounted goods. If you want a Jean Bart B, you don't *have* to gamble for it, you can just buy it for doubloons at a price 30% lower than another Tier IX BB. Your choice. It's a *sale*. From a company which didn't seem to understand what the term meant only a few months ago. So there's some progress.

It's a system to allow copyright holders to protect themselves from unauthorised public use of their intellectual properties. All WG are saying is "we've withdrawn our consent from this person's use of our material, it's now unlicensed, it should be taken down". CCs and streamers tend, as you say, to be given quite substantial liberty by companies who want them to talk about their products and build audiences for them. But if a CC/streamer goes rogue - and as I said, it usually needs something far nastier than the normal range of opinions for this to happen - then a company is perfectly entitled to use the copyright system to protect their IP from misuse, because the CC/streamer doesn't have an unrestricted right or licence to use that material, consent can be withdrawn at any time.
-
DMCA has nothing to do with it. The use of WG's copyright game assets in third party content is conditional, and very high on that list of conditions is that the CC (or whoever it is) is not using WGs assets as part of defamatory, offensive or illegal material. If they've crossed into that area and have refused all polite requests to desist, WG (or any other copyright holder) is fairly within their rights to ask YouTube to shut a channel down. And YouTube will do it.

Seems like a capable ship ('cause it isn't the player). Obvs in Co-op there's a lot of luck in your team mates, maps, how many bots/players, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. (I've just reset the Japanese Cruiser line in the Research Bureau as I realised how many games I've played in these ships - must have something going for them!) For the OP, Massa is a ship I play a lot, so would recommend Massa B, especially as she's a limited-time offer. The same with any of the Black Friday ships not normally in the shop.

Gibraltar 59,000 Research points in 0.10.10
invicta2012 replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
And not as good as Goliath, so I hear. -
12% is an 8-1 chance of getting a ship, 0.32% is 300-1, lottery win is about 45,000,000-1. 300-1 is a long shot, but not a hopeless one, by any means. Perhaps WG could ask Rachel Riley to help Dasha to give the playerbase a lesson in probability as part of the next patch notes?
-
I would have to disagree with that. I have a lot of fun with Hipper, Mainz, Mogami in co-op and have just added Atago B to my collection courtesy of a BF container. What you need for a co-op cruiser is guns with a decent range and fire chance, enough torps for a successful drive by, and a hull that isn't made of paper (so no Albemarle). Atago has those things. It's always a risk taking a standard cruiser out in an MM which can see Yamato etc but that just adds a bit of low stress fun. To the OP: you probably just want a perma camo for Bismarck. Tirpitz or Brandenburg would fit the bill too, but all those torp waving German BBs can be similar.

Where Do Russian CV's Sit In the CV Pecking Order?
invicta2012 replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
I was playing Serov in Newport last week and found all manner of odd things going on with the aiming. Everything seems to work differently to the other CVs and not in an especially good way. Torpedoes seem to be the main weapon, rocket planes seem to go and play a round of golf between aiming and firing and the skip bombers are Interesting (I shall probably get used to them). Would still prefer Ryujo, Ark Royal, Lowenhardt, Weser etc. -

Black Friday Containers: Go in with no expectations.
invicta2012 replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
It could be Graf Zeppelin B! I *have* Graf Zeppelin and I quite like it but I didn't need a goth one. Still, I *did* get some other worthwhile things from that set of 5 containers, so seems like VFM. -
Jean Bart. They won't make another one of those. Super Cruisers are 10 a penny, and Alaska is very strong but not very interesting.

Will we ever see a decent japanese tier 9 premium BB again?
invicta2012 replied to Xxx_HuisBaasBob_xxX's topic in General Discussion
First 16 gun BB will be Marlborough, won't it? Not sure there's anything interesting left in the Japanese archives, tbh. Wouldn't want 18 inch guns anywhere lower than Tier IX.
