[From Reddit] Graph of Earnings in new Economy

The way they've done the new economy in Co-op is this: +12.5% earnings + % to earnings of whatever your camo compensation will be Base Service Cost: -25% (because Co-op) -13.3% additional mode reduction - the additional reductions on service costs for higher Tieres. That makes the break even point *really* low, especially with Premium Time / Premium Ships. If I take out my Marco Polo and score 60,000 base credits (a poor game), with Premium Time I'll still make 66K, even after service costs, ammo are deducted. If I have a good game and score, say 120,000 base credits, then I'll take away 175k. You'll be around 20-30% better off per game, in co-op.

    New Coal ships??

Looks like the charge of the Nerf Hammer brigade to me. 15 x 15 inch guns, that's going to end up with a Sigma of 1.4/1.5. The Spanish DD has a Burst Fire gimmick they took off Canarias because they couldn't balance it and the plus-size Halland will probably be a bit too much with all that dakka. I know WG no longer care about balance, really, but this lot looks OP.

[From Reddit] Graph of Earnings in new Economy

The thing is... when I worked through the new credit earnings system it proved to be considerably more volatile than it is at present. Premium time becomes much more valuable, as do Premium Ships, and in-game performance (especially in Randoms) becomes much more significant. If you have a bad game at Tier IX or X now, it will cost you a *lot* of credits. So failing hard constantly at High Tiers may not be an option. Co-op becomes much more lucrative, though - so bad results will mean having to play that mode to earn the credits to pay for a Random game. My main worry is about Free XP, esp. with the change from 5% of XP earned to 10% of Base XP.

    Coupons!!!

I would like to know more about Napoli, tbh. The whole concept of a secondary Cruiser fazes me rather. Generally whenever Cruiser secondaries start firing, you've got too close to something.
  5. But but but that's a proper Dazzle camo. It's only the pictures that were black and white.

    New Coal ships??

It's been inevitable for a while. The planes on Ise are the ones intended to be launched from submarine carriers. Hence I-56. Tier VI/VII, some variation on the Churruca class, I expect. Considering those ships served from the 1920s-1970s I expect they can find some kind of fit!
  7. Dear WG: Elswick was the name of the shipyard, not the place. Admittedly, Nobby Newcastle would be a silly name for a captain* , so I can see why you chose Eddie Elswick! * Although it would probably work for Azur Lane: Titania Tyneside. Family History decrees I have to support Cheerful Charlie Chatham in this one... he looks like he's about to break into a Gilbert and Sullivan number.

Well done for being one of the lootbox gamblers lucky enough to know.

    oh no it's not

    Yo... Wedgie....WHAT ze actual fluff....

It's a particular problem with short line releases (i.e. not Tiers II-X). Overall I think WG made a mistake this time by making the Toulon (Tier VII) a Premium rather than the objective for the Early Access event. No-one likes Z-31 (and I hear Toulon is just as bad) but because most of us got her from the KM DD event (fully upgraded, short grind to get the Tier VIII KM DD) it felt like something that would save you time - play ships you like to shorten the grind on something you don't. This event pushes it a notch too far and wants to try and sell you a bad ship *as a prize* as well as trying to make you grind harder for something decent.

    Yo... Wedgie....WHAT ze actual fluff....

It's not as fun as the Italian DD event. a) You can't get the Permacamo for Cherbourg without getting into doubloon bundles b) You can't get the Cherbourg without completing a BaseXP or FreeXP mission. Those types of mission are just boring. I know people complain about other mission types ruining Random gameplay but the Base XP/Free XP ones are grindy and because rewards aren't equal between game modes, PVE players *always* get the short end of the stick. It would be OK if Operations weren't getting so played out, but I can't face a week of Aegis or Newport anymore, especially not coming off the back of a dockyard grind.

    Yo... Wedgie....WHAT ze actual fluff....

I think it's a lot more than that with Randoms/Ranked/CBs. And to be honest I want the camo more than I want the ship, as I can get that for Free in time anyway (I have 150K XP on my Algerie). So the event isn't giving me what I want, really - the Tier VII Premium, the Tier VIII Permacamo are all behind lootboxes and the grind for the Tier VIII ship is dull. So not a great event.

    Yo... Wedgie....WHAT ze actual fluff....

Side 1, track 1: The Long and Boring Grind. And you can't even get the Cherbourg Permacamo for free without spending currency on bundles. It's a proper damp squib, this one.

Can We Nerf British BCs' AA?

Speaking as someone who stopped playing Random matches because my favourite class of ship (Destroyers) was just CV food back when 0.8.0 came out... you need to remember that as a CV in PvP, your dev strike is someone else's negative experience. We all accept being sunk by someone that outplays us, or when we mess up, but no-one wants to come into a game where they're just cannon fodder for another class. I know there are many good CV players on these forums and they say it's not impossible to land a CV strike against any ship in the game, and fair play to them for demonstrating skill and knowledge. That's as it should be, not making ship lines to be helpless XP pinatas. Because I know I wouldn't play them, for sure. Well, they didn't have any decent radar-guided fire control, no proximity fused shells, and their mid-calibre weapons had absurdly low magazine capacity (15 rounds, requiring a pause for reloading, whereas a 20mm Oerlikon had a 60 round magazine, and the 40mm Bofors could fire at 60-100 rpm without pausing). Those scenes at the end of the Yamato movie show how slow and dangerous reloading was for those crews.

Can We Nerf British BCs' AA?

I don't agree. AA from the late WW2 era should be scary; everything Allied larger than a DD had 20 and 40mm guns stuck on everywhere where space could be found, and the RN especially was very very serious about AA defence..... it's really only the IJN which was lacking. In any case, CVs seem to be able to do damage regardless of AA, even if it's at 100%, and as AA gets substantially degraded as a game goes on, a good CV will always be a very serious threat to surface ships.

Can we have a code for 'I am chatbanned'?

Unfortunately, WG's favourite part of that movie is "Cap'n, there be whales here!"

    Does USS California needs buff?

It's a ship that nobody wanted, tbh. WG forgot they'd promised WV'44, which would have been far better and much more representative of the Tillmann/Modernised standards of the USN Slow BB line - not least because you'd have had 406mm guns of the Colorado type, which would at least provide some punch. It was a perfect example of WG screwing up community relations, again.

    I have been stupid

Missions are becoming more grindy than ever, really - there's a 57,000 Base XP one in the final stage of the French Cruisers set, which is getting no special attention from me whatsoever (it's easier to put 10K extra XP on my Algerie and wait for the line to be officially launched). I also think that if you're going to spend money on the Dockyard events it's probably better to do it at the end (where you'll get the ship) rather than at the start (where you might get trapped with the whole sunk cost thing and end up paying twice, once for the starting boost, once to get the grind over and done with). I would also always, always look at the final stage missions and wonder if I can be bothered to grind that load of nonsense (the final stage of French Cruisers needs 3/4 from 350,000 spotting damage, 40,000,000 potential damage, 100,000 Free XP or 57,000 Base XP, FFS).

    Return of Puerto Rico

Free and Unprecedented - WG were allowing people to get a Tier X ship in the Dockyard, it *was* a big thing. Notable that they've not repeated the exercise until now and it feels as if the PR return is WG's admission that they (completely) overcooked it the first time around. I haven't completed all the Dockyards even though I'm prepared to chuck a bit of cash at the process (no PR, ZF6 or Marlborough) and I think the best formats of these events are the ones with a mid-tier ship as the achievable prize, plenty of resources to collect and high tier ships as the stretch goal, to be completed only if you're into enjoying playing and completing the missions. Otherwise it's just an exhausting drag.

    A practical approach to changes.

No, I mean "can I have a defensive captain skill for my Baltimore rather than three Torpedo skills I can't use and a load of tosh like Outnumbered".

Graf Zeppelin, most crap premium ship!

The range is good but it struggles to do damage. I've tried it in Narai as well and it's just not up to any of the other Tier VII BBs I have in my port (Sinop, Scharn, KGV, Nelson, Hood, Hyuga, Strasbourg, Lyon etc). I'm sure Halsey does make a difference but it's a bit like Italian ships... when every conversation about them starts with "It helps if you put Sansonetti on it" you can tell the ship lacks a bit of edge. Obvs. YMMV and if you enjoy the ship, that's great.
  22. Speedy ships like Marceau are good but I find mid-tiers better as your team-mates are more likely to be in range to fire immediately, and effectively, on your spotting. The Italian DDs are quite good for this. French and European ones too, especially as you can't smoke up and break lines of sight. CVs are great for farming spotting ribbons but generally you find that your allies aren't in a position to engage if you spot things too early.

Graf Zeppelin, most crap premium ship!

I know other people enjoy playing her, but I always found her gunnery frustrating - a delightful combination of wonky dispersion and irritating shell performance - their either over pen or don't pen at all. Florida was exactly the same. I have French battleships if I want that experience, and Lyon throws considerably more shells about to make up for it.
  24. invicta2012

    A practical approach to changes.

I can see that re-appearing in the Captain Skills section for Cruisers. I've always thought there are rather too many offensive buffs in that selection - wouldn't do any harm to replace one with the dispersion debuff. I can just life without it making cruiser play more of an island-humping borefest than it is now.
