Spying on what, exactly? How I play World of Warships? My processor and graphics card? Unless these crash reports are telling WG about my internet history, bank details and the colour of my pussy cat (grey) I don't see there's much of a problem.

T8 Matchmaking the umpteenth - except this time it's good!
invicta2012 replied to Tyrendian89's topic in General Discussion
Hmm. I hope this solution is being applied based on the overall performance of the ship. Not sure that North Carolina and Lightning need any help from the MM in order to be decent... or that Tier VII needs any more of them! -
Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
invicta2012 replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Go back a Tier or two, to Kongo or Fuso. Kongo has speed which will help you escape if you over-extend yourself. Fuso has lots of guns. Don't charge in at the start of the game - DDs and Cruisers will spot you long before you see them. Make sure you've got the Priority Target captain skill, and when you are detected, expect shells and torps to follow, don't sail in straight lines, don't sail into a cruiser ambush or into a cap. Everyone loves to see BBs in a cap but there's a time and place for it and some ships (German ones, usually) which are better than others. Keep an eye on the minimap - where is everyone else? Are you isolated? Are there islands where enemies will hide? Practice your mid-range shooting in a Co-op game, Training room or other low-pressure environment. Cruisers love to spam HE, but they also love to explode when BB AP shells hit them in the citadel, and you need to be able to do that from 12-14k to be an effective BB player. Nothing wrong with turning tail if you're being focused. Try and save your Damage Control for when you're out of cruiser range - normally about 14-15K. Remember that fire damage is 100% repairable. -

True. Being able to spit out three torps a side every 30 seconds from stealth is not something most cruisers can do, and the surprise BBs get is a very short torp detection range of 1k, which makes them difficult to avoid. The thing for the devs to answer is why you'd pick Leone over Duca at Tier VI if the DD fires fewer torps and has rubbish guns at anything other than point blank range. Eight decent guns would be OP at Tier VI, so I would buff torp reload. -

Ooh, Miaow. The observation was about Duca's torpedoes and the tendency people have to run into them, and I would focus Leone on those things, so that she can put as many torpedoes in the water as a Duca can over the same period of time. So that would be a base reload of about 45-50 seconds, which would make a good defensive DD. I watched Notser fumbling about trying to play Monaghan, which is perfectly workable. CCs are often right but sometimes they just don't get things. -

Duca's outgunned by most Tier VI cruisers (apart from Huang He), so her torps are the focus. Leone could easily be balanced by consumables, though: extra smoke + speed boost for some Aigle style hit and run pew pew pew, torp reload booster to allow some constant harassment of straight-lining BBs. We worked out that there are another six lines of DDs available (Commonwealth, Pan European, French S/L, Italian S/L) so there would be nothing wrong with adding a quirky premium to the game at Tier V/VI, plenty of "sensible" ships to come. -

Hmm, yes. Aoba/Myoko torp config. 7 second rudder shift, though... that's Kuma style, not the IJN CAs. Looks fragile but dangerous. -

Yahagi looks interesting. Potentially devastating if she can land those 10k torps, but they're detectable from space. Otherwise a bit Konigsberg-y. You have to remember this isn't a destroyer. It's a Scout cruiser. She can spot with impunity and harass anyone with those torps. Having just held off a Richelieu, New Orleans and Colorado in my Duca, purely because of her torps, I can see how it would work. Perhaps a 10% buff to torp reload and an improvement in flooding chance up to 240% from 220%, and I could live with the wet lettuce guns (even though I think they'd be decent enough in a knife-fight). -

I like a good quirky boat. Lots of sensible DD choices at Tier VI, let's have some weird stuff and see what we can do with it. Troll torps, Tier IV guns, that'll be a challenge. -

True, but my Monaghan's are slower again and you can hit things at 12k with those. Even if the shells do go straight down like raindrops.... -

Those are Duca D'Aosta torps. They get spotted from 1k away and are an endless source of annoyance. Sergio may be made of tinfoil but she has a 5k stealth torp window, with a 60s reload on those torps that's going to be hilarious. -

Oh my, the Sergio Leone has 12k torps with a 60 second reload, and 4x2 120 mm guns which go 12k. I'll take two... -
promised T9 Premium DD: finally here?
invicta2012 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Ognevoi torpedoes? The ones that are in a different time zone to everyone else's? I don't know what it is with Russian torps in the game, they either go V fast but only for 3k or V slowly over longer distances. Are they clockwork? -
WG, for the next events, can we PLEASE return to a situation where not everything is time-gated and drip-fed with ridiculously short intervals?
invicta2012 replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
I just want to buy the darn thing. The issue is overkill, as far as I'm concerned. WG are releasing so much stuff that I can't keep up with it, and it all has different requirements and an imperative to complete it. If I'm logging in and playing three co-op games in a Helena to get 500 main battery hits to finish Phase 3 of the time limited Campaign for a Soviet Ovetchkin captain I'm not sure I actually have a use for, am I actually having fun? I definitely recall a time when I logged in and picked a ship and a game mode and played that for a while and it was all a bit less frantic. Can we have that back? -

Why is Monarch so oddly unpopular , from that list? Fewer games than Richlieu despite being out twice as long? -

I can say that it was bundled up and sold above my price point. I don't care if it's Dreadnought bundled with HMS Victory and the Queen Elizabeth, I'm not spending that much on a ship.... -

It's part of a £50 bundle. Doesn't count. I don't buy bundles, in any respect. -

Dreadnought is worth £10. She's a Tier III BB of reasonable quality and most people would buy her just to keep her in port. She's not going to be Konig Albert or Nikolai I, some low-tier diamond, and she's really not worth 20 days worth of missions. Cossack came too late - the Tribal ship already sailed with Haida, and Tier VIII DDs are always a tough sell because of the MM. And most people aren't going to grind to get her for free - I'll give up when it costs me £15 to get the Guineas I need, so the WG event will have given me £15 off. And really, that's all these events ever really give people - £15 of discounts against less popular goods. I'm not going to grumble about it, but I don't want to feel as if my focus is these events, which come one on top of the other with very little space in between. -
Vanguard: lacking something to be good
invicta2012 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Hood's short range AA murders anything stupid enough to try and attack it, and that's all you need. The last CV which tried that against me lost 3 entire squadrons. Adding BFT to a BB might sound like a waste of points, but anything which hurts CVs is worth the investment. -
Isn't she getting pretty major buffs in the near future?

Vanguard: lacking something to be good
invicta2012 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
The thing is that they'll work, but they might have different properties and need different approaches depending on the enemy you're facing. I have Warspite and Hood and the latter's AP shells can often be ineffective in a way that Warspite's aren't - especially at distances over 10km. Whether it's the gun angles or the dispersion patterns resulting from a longer ship, I'm not too sure, but a different approach is needed. Vanguard looks as if it needs the same adjustments. I've come across several Vanguards battle, btw, and she's not an easy ship to face. If you can land a blow it can be devastating, but landing it is a difficult thing to do if the Vanguard captain is clued up. -
Charleston - How can more veteran players get it?
invicta2012 replied to BeauNidl3's topic in General Discussion
I'm only interested in the ship if it comes equipped with Gramophone Mk II consumable and plays its theme tune on demand, distracting your enemies with the power of the Earworm. -

Oh, so Dreadnought well be the next free ship from a Marathon? That's good, but I'm still trying to sort the Cossack one out... I can only play this game so much... -

It looked very similar to Hood, from what I've seen of it in YouTube videos... Quite nimble, quite squishy, middling guns and armour but redeemed by mobility. -

invicta2012 replied to Captain_Singleton's topic in General Discussion
Well that's an odd way of doing it. Release them as a package a week after the JB and a 33% off coupon. Don't know about any one else but I've spent my game budget for this month.... Presumably Dreadnought will be available individually eventually, but I can't see it being a great incentive to spend £££ on a package.
