Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
invicta2012 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Awful. ABY layouts don't translate well into WoWs. Unless you fancy being citadelled it's a 4 gun cruiser, and I'm not sure that even a generous 12 second reload is enough to make it OP - you'll be firing as fast as Emile Bertin, only she'll be lobbing 6 shells to your 4. To quote a recent Notser video, it's not the calibre of the guns, it's the number of them... -
Which would make *edited* , presumably - the one who's not brave enough to start an argument but weighs in later on? C'mon chaps, no need to show your true colours quite so brazenly.
-
whatevs, mate. Clearly it's peak knowitall season around here, so I won't argue.
-
You'd have trouble with a Saipan in an Atlanta, to be honest. The squads are small but AA isn't really effective enough unless it runs into something like a Hood.
-
Double CV games are rarely fun, and we all know about the stupidity of Premium Ships like Saipan, GZ, etc. But I play those Tiers a lot and, while I have weekends of utter frustration, they are still the exception, rather than the rule. You probably just need to buy yourself a Guilio Cesare and club some seals until the MM turns your way. (Works for me, anyhoo).

Admiral Simulator 2019. Actually, that sounds quite fun..

It's fine... it's a six gun cruiser, lightly armoured, that has to show broadside and an exposed citadel to get all its guns on target. It will face BBs that can hit hard, CA's which can hit much harder (Pensacola), and if it gets to do a little sealclubbing at T4... then that's a reason to own it. I thought the original County Class were T5, btw...the trade of two fewer guns for a smidge of armour is a fair one, and she's not any more OP than the Silver ship (Hawkins). -

Yes... but she's not going to be topTiered often. Tier V premium doesn't get that luxury. -

The thing about Exeter is that she is very lightly armoured, and at Tier V will have a large and easy to hit citadel. Very vulnerable, especially if someone tries to get all six guns on target at any one time. A Repair Party won't fix much of that type of damage. That's why I'd like them to test out DD smoke rather than cruiser smoke - as a ship she was known for ducking and weaving, and I'd like a cruiser which can be played actively in open water rather than being parked behind islands or in smoke screens. She can't be wholly OP as a Tier V cruiser, ffs..... I haven't tried the Test. I can't bear to look, to be honest. This launch is taking the whole game back to Beta. Really they should invent a new game mode, the only one in which CVs are allowed, and make that their live testing ground. At least I would know what I was in for if I selected it... I know I felt from the outset that getting AA right was as important as CV gameplay itself, and it seems they've completely ignored everyone who thought the same thing. -

Isn't Repair Party the RN cruiser thing? Interesting to see if Exeter gets DD smoke, though : that would be hilarious. -

Well, I'm up for this, as I was thinking my Icarus needs a new coat of paint. Not too bothered about PEF, mind. Nerfed in to the ground by the sounds of it. -
Actually, I was in a game with him the other day. He was in a Battleship and carried the team, so I'm not sure he needs to git gud. It is a silly thread though.

I can't believe there's no Potemkin in that list. What were they thinking? Well, Lancasters certainly did for the Tirpitz in the end. But the only country that ever flew anything the size of a medium/heavy bomber from an aircraft carrier were the Americans, and they weren't expecting the planes to come back and have to land again. Given how difficult it is to move a carrier in the rework they might as well give you an island to fly off instead...... -
? Sarcasm?

The console game is a different game, run by a different dev team. -
Don't jump the Queue to Tier VIII. Yes, you have a really powerful ship capable of devastating opponents. So does everyone else. Texas or Arizona are better choices.
-
Based on my experience, it'll run just fine on the integrated graphics of a second gen core i3 laptop. It wont look pretty, but it will work.

Quoting myself? Yes, why not. The thing about IFHE and CA is that the mechanic's effect is to give light cruisers the HE armour penetration of an 8inch / 203 mm gun. (155*1.3=201, 152*1.3=197). This obviously puts CAs at a disadvantage as they usually have fewer, heavier guns than CL and have no similar in game advantage by taking IFHE. So, the more I think about it, the more I become sure IFHE needs to be an ammo type. Advantage: the ability to damage more parts of an enemy ship. Disadvantage: lower alpha damage compared to regular HE. That would balance CL and give CA back their original advantages. It would also allow ship by ship balancing, rather like US CA AP shell properties. I'd also like Proximity Fuse HE for anti AA defence, but that's another argument...
-
+1 to the above, but make it apply specifically to Wooster, Harugumo, Khabarovsk,... you catch my drift. +1 but make it a switchable ammo type that you have to unlock and choose in-game (unlocked through the use of captain skills, not £££) and only reduce the fire chance on calibres above 139mm - DDs and Atlanta/Krasny Krym style CLs with low calibre guns don't need a fire nerf.

16 knots and guns that won't turn? Comrades, take my money. ..

should battlecruisers be added to the UK tree

There's nothing much wrong with part lines of ships, to be honest: WoWp has plenty. There are enough actual ships (and enough variations in their designs) to populate three BC part lines, plus premiums, from Tiers III - VIi, and that's just fine. Progress on that line would unlock the Tier VIII BB, which is also fine : both the RN and KM conventional BB lines have Tier VII ships with BC style game play, so there's no major leap to make. -
British Heavy Cruiser Line ***UPDATED***
invicta2012 replied to TicoXotaR's topic in General Discussion
I would like the RN CAs to have "defensive" smoke, rather like the RN DDs - several charges of short duration smoke to enable them to disengage, change direction and get the hell out of dodge if they need to. Otherwise they will be a line of more lightly gunned Pensacolas.... not too much fun. If anyone wants a more traditional cruiser build then WG can make them one of the Aussie Counties for the Commonwealth line.... -
Why? They're just what you need to kill that Izumo. When it's in the inner harbour it can't dodge... You can easily stick 6-8 torps into it and have time to reload. Losses, even with potato me stinking the place up, are definitely the exception.

WG can you please lower the xp reward for last 4 players

No, that doesn't seem fair.
