  1. Just give them the 1/4 pen of the IJN DDs and lower the alpha damage per shell to balance... The reason the Haida has the 4 inch guns is because they were the only Dual Purpose guns the RN had in any numbers. The larger main battery had very poor anti AA abilities, and it wasnt until 1943 or so that RN DDs had proper DP mounts for 4.7/4.5 inch guns.

Le Terrible - Available To Rent For 7 Days

We dont have a test account or client? I think the rental idea is pretty decent, tbh, especially with a ship like LT which is pricey to purchase and recieved poor reviews.

Can i do a return on my purchase of the musashi?

OK - so it's about tanking, getting the best RoF and not burning to death? Gotcha. I shall build accordingly. Thanks!

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

Depends on the situation. The Fog of War and all that. The Captain of the USS San Francisco, mid battle, spotted a small cruiser or destroyer 3km away. Opened up with all main guns only to find it was the Atlanta, and they'd just killed all the bridge crew, including an Admiral. There might have been some hard questions to be asked of that Captain if he hadn't been killed himself twenty minutes later. Quite. Which is why enhancing the detectibility of friendly torps is a good idea. Reduces the ability of players to troll others. I did it myself last night (which is why I was thinking about Team Kills). Huang He in a cap with an on rushing PEF 4km away. A destroyer somehow managed to reverse into my torpedo salvo. It's generally DDs getting between cruisers and targets that cause the problems, buzzing around getting in the way.

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

Quite so. Which is why I didn't know "friendly" torpedoes were visible all the time. If that's the same for most people (and I suspect it is) then the first they will know about them is when the torpedo proximity warning bloke starts shouting. That happens - I think - at the normal detection range? If so, that range could be increased for "friendly" torps, as I suggested.

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

Hang on a minute. So where's all this "your torps, your responsibility" stuff coming from? People are running into torpedoes that have been visible to them from the second that they were launched and somehow it's someone else's fault?

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

It's not just me, if that's the case. Do you mean "you can spot them" or "they are visible from the moment of launch"...?

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

They could just give everyone a free Vigilance skill for "friendly" torps so that allies could see them coming. That would let everyone get on with playing their game without derpishness and aggro.
  9. I see you only have 50% WR in your Hakuryu, King Edward.

Yelling at CV's for no fighter cover (rework)

Ha! In CV Rework 4.0 there will be land bases from which ships can call in their own fighter cover without having to rely on CVs. So there!
  11. Yes. Royal Navy Carriers, see. Although I see stuff like this: and I worry. To quote Notser: "...and some people were like, yeah, aircraft carriers were too powerful, that's one of the reasons we're doing the CV rework is to lower their power....um... I kinda feel like that hasn't been successful...... I still feel like aircraft carriers can run circles around everyone". (He's playing a Saipan in that game, btw. Saipan is now Tier VIII. It still has its gimmick of over-tiered squadrons. They used to be Tier IX, now they're Tier X. So that video is of Tier X planes vs Tier VI ships. )

Can i do a return on my purchase of the musashi?

Ok. So I went away and ground the Coal (and bought a few Santa containers to help) and now I have a Musashi. \m/ Does anyone have any suggestions for optimum Upgrades on this thing? I do have a 10 pt captain ready to slot in. I was thinking of.. Aux Mod 1 / Dam Con Mod 1 / Main Battery Mod 1 / Steering Gears Mod 2 / Target Acquisition Mod 1 (presumably I need to see torpedoes coming in this thing) / Main Battery Mod 3. Is it worth speccing into AA, given the upcoming rework?

    Concerning the upcoming CV rework

Cheers for the info chaps. Those are all big heavy rockets, though, not ones that could be fired by zippy dodging planes like in WGs version. That kind of rocket is the ground attack version - good at sinking subs, blowing up tanks etc but no good against armoured ships. Maybe good for a fire or two, but not this much damage....

    Concerning the upcoming CV rework

I'm not sure why they are obsessed with rocket planes. Did the USN or IJN ever use them? I thought these would be an RN quirk, not the equivalent of DD guns without the risks a DD has to face. As you say, bombs and torpedoes offer a decent chance to dodge, where as these rocket planes don't seem to do that.

the core, fundamental od aircraftcarrier. or island??

I think he's saying that we might as well have air bases as have CVs at sea. It's not a bad idea. But yes, one squad is a CV. Escort carriers during WW2 sometimes had fewer than 10 planes.
  16. invicta2012

    Concerning the upcoming CV rework

You don't. Which is why their lack of attention to AA mechanics, AA ships and a proper counter to these damage farming CVs is so troubling. If taking my Atlanta or Cleveland out doesn't trouble the CV then what exactly is the point....?

    Concerning the upcoming CV rework

Kinda sorta. I thought when they introduced rocket planes that they'd worked it out. Rocket planes should be low-risk/low reward, high level bombers next, then dive bombers, then torp bombers; potentially devastating but easy to lose. Losing planes wouldn't put you out of the game, but every new respawn means your planes get less and less effective. The CV player has to take their choice what to send out, how to use it... they're never back in port until the game ends but their influence can decline depending on player competence. It doesn't look as if WG has achieved anything near that: good players have been given a near infinite amount of resources and they're going to play hell with everyone as a result.

Suggestion for a fun premium ship!

Arizona? To be honest if it was my birthday and I was pushing the boat out it would probably be Roma, then Scharnhorst, then Arizona. Out of the Premiums I have which you might like I would say Monaghan.

    Low level SEAL CLUBBERS

That's good to know, thank you. I wonder why it isn't a choice? The 4" guns aren't shabby by any means and the actual HMS Wakeful was never equipped with 4.7" ones. I can see why they gave the B Hull bigger guns but there are other DDs like Gaede which offer a choice between two sets of guns with a significant difference in calibre. Ah well. Mysterious...
  21. Nothing wrong with Icarus, whatsoever. Hydro and a 10 torp payload in a domination match? Owch. Let them sit in their smoke in the cap and see how far it gets them.

    Low level SEAL CLUBBERS

Low level query. Why don't the British know what guns are on their DDs? Was this supposed to be a choice and WG just forgot about it?
  23. I like Blyskawica and having faced her more than a few times in battle I know she's a powerful ship. But I've never bought her, and I know why... The WoWS numbers stats show that there's a big disparity in performance between the top 50% of players and the bottom - the top 50% of Blyska players do pretty well (middle of the pack), the lower 50% are down at the bottom with all the DDs that have recently been buffed (Mahan, Sims, Akatsuki). That screams "Captain Skills" to me.... she would be a great boat with a 10-14 pt captain but isn't so hot when you're grinding up that skill set, and who's keen enough to do that when the Captain can't go on any other ship? Really I'd be more enthusiastic if they buffed her Premium Camo to give a more rapid rate of Captain advancement, like the one on Prinz Eugen. If I could have the Moon on a Stick, I'd like the later war AA DD version version with eight x 4 inch guns on a 3 second reload. Not happening, though, I know....

    Low level SEAL CLUBBERS

It's fun. The lack of tactics, meta and instakills at lower Tiers makes it a laugh. The game gives us ships like Vampire and Dreadnought to play, and if you start a new line at Tier VII you're missing out on some fun ships, so why not? Being serious, I do wish that WG would give us World of Warships Eras, where 1900-1920 ships (those cool steel castles we all like) weren't treated as training units. I'd love an unchained Mikasa, secondaries working like a Grosser Kurfurst, proper BC running battles, Cruiser melees with the original Scharnhorst and Gneisenau......

Queue in a Stock Tier 7 Cruiser

Call it the Omaha Lesson. Don't fire first and charge towards the enemy. They'll wait for you to overextend or turn away and then enjoy a feast of citadels. Sometimes you can't help it , mind, and then going boom is inevitable. It's why playing cruisers becomes less and less fun the higher up you go.7 Oh and stock ships? What those event camos were invented for. You have to put up with your ship being some ghastly colours, but they do get you upgraded faster.
