  1. The Americans are better at that, tbh. RN DDs have no AA at all until higher Tiers. I've done 21 planes in 4 games in the Nicholas (one with no CV!), which is a decent start . It'll be done by this time tomorrow.
  2. Here you go, then: I bought Nicholas, loaded her up with an AA spec build and a captain with Superindendent (that's a nice to have, you can use Premium DFAA instead), first game a Tier VI CV decides to go straight for me at the spawn, 10 planes destroyed towards the total before the game has even begun. It would have been more, but my team sank him (curses curses). You can, of course, just sell the ship again afterwards and get most of your credits back.
  3. It wouldn't be cheating to Div Up with a CV player to ensure you have a CV opponent on the other team, that's perfectly reasonable. Worth saying you can do this mission in US ships too, so Nicholas is available - the only Tier V DD with DFAA. Given that CVs are currently obsessed with attacking DDs I'm sure you could find at least one CV daft enough to feed you all his planes.
  4. You have different legal rights if digital goods are purchased for in game currency rather than cash.
  5. Fair comment, and it is a bit mean on co-op mains. But gird yer loins and take Emerald out for a spin, all you need is a couple of low tier CVs to feed into the mincer...

Exeter switch repair party with smoke?

You do, but don't expect much support for the proposal from the devs or anyone who played against Exeter when she had smoke. Div up with a mate who has an Emerald or Perth if you want to see it for yourself.
  7. Ah, so the purchase of ships is going to be via the Armoury for doubloons? That's interesting, legally.

Exeter switch repair party with smoke?

Based upon the three games I played against Exeter in its original test configuration. Even with the increased reload her smoke was too much.... She shredded things like a Fiji on steroids.
  9. You don't have to complete it today. And wasn't shoot down 30 planes just part of the Fly Strike Win campaign? I completed it in one game in the Emerald...

Exeter was way OP with smoke.

Exeter - guns highly ineffective at times?

Would that register as an over pen, though? I would think that the OP either hit a module or that the AP penetrated the belt but exploded before the citadel. French cruisers are the worst for this. Large calibre AP either goes right through them or explodes between their spaced armour for low pen damage.

Exeter - guns highly ineffective at times?

It may well be that Exeter has the RN short Fuse AP. This makes it more likely to stick in the citadel of a lightly armoured target but more likely to explode earlier against an armoured one like the Furutaka.

Exeter - guns highly ineffective at times?

RNG and aim, I think. You can citadel Furutaka with light cruiser guns from 6k away. I have this feature built in to my aim but generally its best not to try the same place twice if the first salvo was ineffective. Duca's AP has a much higher velocity than Exeter, and will rip into anything at short range. Even BBs can be citadelled.

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

It feels slightly wrong using IJN ships to obtain Exeter after what happened to a lot of her crew after the ship's sinking, but I suppose it is just a game....

£15? That's the going rate for a Tier V cruiser...

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

It's a very difficult ship to get results with and I wouldn't say one good weekend changes that. But I played the unbuffed version when it first came out, and the current one is much better...

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

I don't approve in either case, and my name isn't Daisy the cow so I'm not going to let myself be milked dry. I'll buy it when the price is right or if the marathon is fun.

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

Emerald's fine. It does explode very easily but that can be avoided. I think I played 15 games in it last weekend, Won about 75% and did around 30k average damage. In some ways the new CVS are her friend because their rockets and bombs do the type of damage she can heal. I find WGs position on not putting Exeter in the shop understandable (and not unusual, they did the same with Hood at launch) but if it's never available for straight up cash I would be annoyed.

    WG hype failure

We most certainly did all of those things. Including cats. And frankly WG need to give us a British Blue mascot for the carriers, as anything can be improved with the addition of cats.... But I'm not bothered either. I'll unlock the ships when there is a full line to play and the game play is fun (not balanced. FUN.) And that's months away.

    Some clarification please WG

I can see exactly why a CV player would do it. They do exactly the same things when you use DFAA, too - they always did (drop a squad in towards the ship with DFAA, turn it away again when you know they've activated the consumable, come back and attack in 60 seconds). To the defending player, it feels like you've been suckered into using a consumable. Of course CVs don't have unlimited planes but they do have a cat's number of lives compared to other ships, so the defender knows they'll be back and that next time there will be less they can do about it, which is not good.

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

I'm not sure I'd have wanted to see Tier VIII opposition in a 1920s second-rate cruiser. It's a bit too Pensacola vs Bismarck (eek). If you play her well the MM will give you plenty of Tier VI and VII opposition and, really, that's where she belongs. As far as RN Heavy Cruisers go it was the obvious choice. The Hawkins class are too niche, with their pre-WW1 guns, and the Kent type County class (as much as I'd love to see them, for obvious reasons) would have too many big guns for WG's taste at Tier V.

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

You could, that is true, and it was nice of them to make it available for free. But that was over Christmas, the worst possible time for a marathon (for me, anyway) Anyway, as to their question about ships in the game from the Java Sea battles.... on the ABDACOM side we have Exeter & Perth, and the RN J Class and US Clemson DDs. On the IJN side we have lots of Myokos (Myoko, ARP Nachi, ARP Ashigara) and lots of destroyers which are Fubuki, Shiratsuyu, Kagero and Asashio classes. Clearly the MM was not on the allied side that day.

RN "Exeter" Marathon (starting March 1st)

I paid £5 for a Tier VIII Destroyer, in the end - which is £30 in the shop - and got a Tier VI one along the way as well. Pretty decent value. I can't see the Exeter one being as long as that one, though, even if they chucked Dreadnought in as well (where has that ship gone, btw?).
