Which Dido do you want, though? Dido, Scylla, Spartan, Royalist, Black Prince? It's cruiser smorgasbord.
-
I'm sorry, but you seem to be asking for HMS Hedge and the USS Island. Or have I missed something?

Because the Premium ships I have offer a fun gameplay experience outside of the silver ship lines, and I think there could be more of that. Also because buying things keeps the game going. And also because WG do listen to what people want (LittleWhiteMouse was quite specific about the fact that Exeter is in the game because CCs like her asked for it), so why not contribute? Nah, that's the De Ruyter. Tromp is Huang He's armament (3 x 2 6"guns) on Aigle's hull.

Do, she's great. And can certainly look after herself with CVs about... just keep a little closer to your team mates than you might have done, the era of going it alone is over.

I have decided to stop playing for WR and instead focus on having fun. Its not worth the stress or time to focus on battle outcomes!!!
invicta2012 replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
Well, quite. It shouldn't be the be all and end all of playing, because it means you wouldn't try to do anything new which might affect your WR - a new line of ships, a ship like Blyska with a captain that can't be trained on another ship, or perhaps an attempt to get to grips with something that has always evaded you. WR is the most volatile of stats. But if you look at all the main stats (WR, PR, Av. Damage, Av. Experience) and see a constant upward trend, then all's well. Play what you like and enjoy it. -
How do you use a 4 km torpedo range DD ?
invicta2012 replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Really you only use them when you're cornered. Russian torpedoes are fast and they hit very hard but trying to close the range in normal play is likely to result in being destroyed. If you can force an opponent to have to rush your smoke, though, then you can zip out and obliterate them. Doesn't happen often, fun when it does. But yes, these are mostly gunboats with great speed and very hard hitting AP (they will make cruisers, and even BBs, cry). -

I would be reluctant to hire you, as your procurement process is clearly flawed. -

Good luck to the OP who will probably improve his stats as a result of a more thoughtful, relaxed manner. And a continued LOL at the people who think that to be able to comment on something, you actually have to be able to do it. Always good for a laugh, that. -
This change strikes me as a mistake. It may notionally result in better balance at the start of the game than at present:, but CV players have already adapted to the current meta, by reducing the size of their attack squadrons in the early stages of the game and concentrating on spotting/harassing lone ships. This change feels as if it will result in CVs becoming too powerful at the end of a game, where opposing ships will have suffered damage and a reduction in AA efficacy through the destruction of AA mounts.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

What's the Rate of Fire on that again? -
CV rework is still a total failure, though. I suspect 0.8.2 will simply make the situation worse, with its unnecessary AA nerf.

Why is the Gneisenau now terrible at AA?
invicta2012 replied to The_Norwood's topic in General Discussion
Mid range guns (or the lack of). My Scharnhorst's mid range AA has 1 flak burst (490 dps, hit prob 69%) and 44 dps continuous. KGV, on the other hand, has 6 bursts (700 dps, 69%) and 334 continuous. Scharnhorst has better long range AA than KGV but then that's the stuff that's easiest to dodge. Gneis is pretty similar - it means she can damage planes but probably won't knock them down anymore. -
Do you still use BFT & AFT on your ships (regarding free Commander re-spec in upcoming WoWs v0.8.2)?
invicta2012 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I think it comes from mostly playing DDs and Cruisers of late. But even then AFT might go by the board if I thought a lower Tier skill more useful (SI/SE, quite a lot of time on DDs). -

invicta2012 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
To be honest AFT is the second or third choice Tier IV skill for most ships (CE and IFHE come first) and the only ship I have it on is Atlanta. BFT is still pretty standard, though. -
HMS Implacable. What am I doing wrong?
invicta2012 replied to Akula971's topic in General Discussion
Well, I don't play CVs, but if you go over to YouTube and look at The Mighty Jingles's channel, you'll see a video on Implacable which will explain what CV players have to do to be successful. Basically it involves doing slightly odd and counter-intuitive things to preserve your planes. The guy in the video gets a kraken, so there's possibilities in the ship.- 35 replies

Liking the look of these although V/VI/VII need some work. The drop in HP is correct, Guepard was a larger ship but Vauquelin has better rudder shift and turning circle to compensate. The torpedo thing is a bit weird.... What they could do is to offer the "authentic" torp build with 1 x 3 / 2 x 2 with the Aigle 8/18 torps or a 2 x 3 with the 9/14 ones. Otherwise, reload speed on the Jaguar is too fast - if she has that ahistorical RoF then she should get the slower 27s Aigle traverse. Guepard and Vauquelin should have the faster traverse and high HE alpha but slower rates of fire, too - make that MBRB really valuable. As for VIII/IX and X - I would love to see what happens if you division'd up with an RN DD. Fast gun traverse (much faster than Le Terrible), MBRB and what looks like decent gun arcs? I think they would make Atlanta weep.

british British Battleships & Battlecruiser Line + Premium Proposals/Suggestions
invicta2012 replied to StBg17's topic in General Discussion
Sort of. RN gunnery was mostly excellent but their shells were unreliable. Jutland would have been very different if the Greenboy shells had been available. And of course Seydlitz very nearly suffered a magazine explosion of her own at Dogger Bank, allowing the KM to revise their working practices before Jutland took place. Lots of well trodden paths here otherwise. 15 inch guns at Tier V are a flat no, Repulse and Renown are Tier VI at most (I would rather have Renown) although I would still love to see a WW2 Tiger build at VI. Pre dreadnoughts are a no from WG although I love them to bits, and if we're likely to see any RN Premiums it's probably Ark Royal, London, Sheffield, Dido and Cavalier... Lots of Tier VII ships with a strong cash value. -
I had an Oleg. Lovely looking ship, completely useless, and in a meta with CVs? They'd be expecting hot air balloons.....

I have a feeling that it might be tricky for a Russian company to get details of military projects less than 70 years old (normal public domain period) in other countries (2019---->1949). Something tells me that Bofors, BAE et al might not want to let them loose in their archive. :)

Aigle's guns have 2k base HE damage per shell, if you can land a full salvo on an opposing DD you will really spoil its day. And that's where these ships should be going... short range bullies with good alpha HE damage, swift traverse, MBRB. Opposing DDs should be scared of bumping into these things, because they have harder hitting guns, more HP, and a reload consumable that can hand their backside back to them on a platter. Otherwise, as you say, why not take out an Emile or La Gal? Well, yeah, but six torps every 90 seconds at Tier VI is hardly scary, even if they do go 9k. You're in competition with Fubuki and Monaghan (9@10k and 10/20@9.2k). Reduce the alpha damage/reload or vice versa to make it fair.

Wikipedia says that Neustrashimy was built in 1950, and I'm sure they could bend the rules to fit lighter ships completed later if they fit the game themes (hello Ostergotland)

I now have an Emerald, Aoba, Leander, Nelson, Lightning and Exeter as well as a new favourite DD (Jervis). In amongst the AARGH! of the marathon it has been quite fun to revisit some ships I discarded when I was more the Maris Piper of the Fleet than anything else, as well as grinding my way up to a Tier VIII DD without noticing I was doing so....
-
V, VI and VII aren't really that sort of ship. Their guns are meant to overwhelm other DDs in close combat or to punish BBs from behind islands. So really they need to be able to close the range on enemies aggressively (fast acceleration from 20-35+ knots), unleash MBRB, and then dodge (rapid speed loss in turns) and use speed boost to vamoose as quickly as possible. Their main weapon at range should be torps - they aren't capable of making torp soup or devastating attacks (Chacal and Guepard have 2 x 3, Vauquelin has 1 x 3 and 2 x 2 on each beam) so there would be no harm in giving them longer range, higher damage torps than most other DDs at their Tier - 8/9/10 KM at V/VI/VII, to give a little more comfort. WG should know from Aigle that these are not stealthy torp boats.

I sell premiums I don't like or where I have a more fun / better fit silver ship at that Tier. So out of the ones I still have the least played is Giulio Cesare. Handsome ship, but way OP. And that makes it dull. I can see Exeter falling into the disused category, too. Already having the Krasny Krym at Tier V I am used to being able to melt Tier VII BBs, and although Exeter does good overall damage it never feels likely to sink anything above its Tier. Given the ship's general fragility (and the the FurryTaco has working armour) it could do with a reload buff.
-
They do have really good AA, though. Especially the Tier X.
