Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
invicta2012 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
A quick hello to @creamgravy who was piloting a Helena in Narai and who got the short straw when all the Battleships ran off and left him to sort out a Missouri. A valiant end in the finest traditions of the senior service, old man (and a +1 from me, in a Zara, which kicks butt in that mission). -
Yes. It's probably more effective if you are in the US or are connecting to a game in the US (as there are US ISP's known to throttle game traffic).
-
Focus the Scharnhorst, shoot at it's superstructure, hope your BB wakes up. Honestly - in that Scenario you are dead meat in almost any Tier VII cruiser. It's not going to come out any better in an Algerie, Fiji, Myoko or New Orleans. If there were plenty of islands you might have a chance in one of the 15 gun US cruisers or a Yorck, but it's a slim one.

Perhaps one-shotting is an exaggeration. It normally takes two salvos to mangle most DDs you'll see with Gorizia - even Mogadors. And yes, CLs have all the DPM but SAP is nasty. Stay at range, use spotter and fuel smoke judiciously and you can deal with them pretty easily.
-
We are way off the point, tbh, but it's still the best part of 40 Tier VIII-X random missions for a Tier VI DD which is an ickle bit better than all the ones already mentioned. That might be why you don't see the ship much outside of Ranked (I'll leave it to Col. Pete to dig up the stats). What makes it best? The guns are great but no better than Jervis or Haida...

Do bear in mind that this thread was started a while ago and that I have played the ship a lot (and enjoyed it) since then. I agree that the hydro is very useful, and that combined with SAP and her manoeuvrability, the ship is a great DD hunter. However any cruiser without torps is going to be vulnerable to an onrushing enemy.. .. Zara, as a result, has better survivability, and I think I will play it more overall. Oh, and did I say both of them look fabulous? This is such a great looking ship.. Compare it to the functional US CLs at Tier VII... Like comparing an Alfa Spider to a dust cart.

No. Why would I be, as it doesn't say that anywhere in the instructions? As WG themselves have said, campaigns are a failure. This is because they give little reward and hide it behind a long grind, over complicated mechanics and out dated requirements. I would expect that most players look no further than Science of Victory, get bored by the requirement to play CVs or collect some awkward Heroic Achievement and give up. I'm sure I could complete Honourable Service if I wanted to, but (to return to the subject) as Tier VI has so many good destroyers Shinonome feels unnecessary.
-
If you can be bothered to finish that tedious campaign. A grind far longer than Puerto Rico...
-
One-shotting destroyers? Chunking the heck out of other cruisers with SAP and AP? I like the way the Italian cruisers play like Heavy Cruisers should - within their own class they pack a strong punch.
-
Having played it a lot now I can say that the hydro/smoke combination has its moments, but that it's still too close to Zara to be in the shop for £25. I like it, but I hope they take it out of circulation once the Puerto Rico event is done... it's not worthwhile as a Premium purchase on its own. The other thing I would say is that Sansonetti makes these ships a whole lot more fun, and I hope we get a similar Italian captain in the Armory before long.

Jaguar can do both, which is why I'd pick it for Tier V. People aren't expecting fast 8k torps at that Tier, you can get the concealment down to around 6.4k so have plenty of Torp range even without smoke, strong guns and a good HP pool.

Did you or will you use the 10%, 15% and 20% coupons "Ships for Doubloons" that expire in 7 days?
invicta2012 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I used the 20% coupon to buy Wichita, and left the 25% in the bank for later, when I will probably buy Massachusetts. -
There are a lot of good ones. If I had a least favourite set if would be the German ones - T-61 is very good but still suffers from anaemic guns. Bestest of them all are II - Enseigne Gabolde III - Valkyrie IV - Clemson V - Jaguar VI - T-61, Aigle, Guepard, Icarus, Monaghan, Fubuki VII - Mahan, Haida Honourable mention for Podvoisky, which is ludicrous fun. Play the French ones first, though, to get the super speed playstyle.

Narai Op. come in 2020 bugged
invicta2012 replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but Gorizia is very good at mangling irritating Clemsons, Nicholas, Pheonix, Cambeltowns, etc, so you would hope the rest of the team would concentrate on shooting the things they are good at damaging rather than killstealing. -
So even if you turn up in the wrong ship and derp completely, you still get 1250? This might explain some of the behaviour I've seen...

Narai Op. come in 2020 bugged
invicta2012 replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
You know that Gorizia you got for Christmas? Use it. Italian Cruisers rip through Narai. All the irritating DDs and CLs just get mashed by a well placed SAP salvo. You're only properly stuffed if you have inept Battleships who don't want to do BB things. -
Can you play WoWS with an Intel Graphics 3000?
invicta2012 replied to PantsuChaser's topic in General Discussion
You certainly can, but you will have to set the graphics and resolution to low. -
do u think there should be a battle limit for ranked
invicta2012 replied to The_Shungite_Wizard's topic in General Discussion
I expect not. This sort of thing was why I gave up on Ranked. The revelation that there are people worse than me.... -

No. That person is bringing joy and happiness to everyone he plays and should be congratulated for his festive spirit.- 25 replies

God, are they really out that soon? I haven't even finished with the Italians. He he. Will all games in October 2020 be CV vs Sub? I suspect so...

Is this a bad thing?

Getting your first Tier X ship for Coal
invicta2012 replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
It turned out that Ships for Resources category has all the fun and historic ones. Musashi and Jean Bart vs the SMS Napkin and HMS Doodle. I am perfectly well aware of my limitations as a player, ta v much. As I mentioned I already have a Musashi and a Jean Bart, which I have never played in either Random or Ranked, as it wouldn't be fun for me or for the people I play with. I also have very little patience with high tier Gameplay in any of the numerous games I like. It's always so worked out. But I do have the resources to spend, so I am wondering about how to spend them wisely. -

This is the thing, you see. I already have a Musashi and a Jean Bart and this has rather removed my enthusiasm for grinding ship lines. They are already more fun than anything other BB in the Tech Tree at Tier IX (and several of the Tier X ships, too) - all anyone seems to be about in those Tiers is grumble, so why grind? I hear Thunderer is very good - better than Conqueror - and I worry it might have the same impact. I'm not taking a cruiser into Tier X. What would be the point? If I want to zoom about the place and blow things up I can use JB or Georgia (another possibility), and they don't explode when a Yamato looks at them (most of the time). Smolensk looks viable but it's pure troll and bound to be nerfed.... don't really want to spend 6 month's worth of coal collecting effort on that! -

Excuse me while I stifle a giggle or two. Are you only allowed to play Tier X if you have a 50% WR? I think someone is telling porkies.... -
