That's to do with bot focus, which switches between "nearest ship" (and yes, they have RPF) and "ship with lowest HP in range". They can prioritise better than many players, so if there is an opportunity to shoot one player on the way to aiming at another, they will do it. You will often see ships with torpedoes doing this.

It's between Jingles' Mackem drawl and Dasha's Zoe Wanamaker-esque purr. I don't hear Russian but the latter's pause between "Battle" and "............................starts" is so long that even one of Roger Moore's eyebrows complains it can't keep things up for that long.

Submarines - Your damage record guess on public release ?
invicta2012 replied to AirSupremacy's topic in General Discussion
0 Very difficult to tell, when you're on the surface, whether that's an enemy sub or one of your own. After all, sonar just goes "ping". Best drop some depth charges on it, just to be sure.- 5 replies

Don't rush, mate. There are ships there you need to master before you go further (Clemson, New York) - and if you want a Premium to play, get a Texas or an Exeter. They can hold off the CV spam and have lots of strong abilities . Good stats are about potential x knowledge, you seem to have enough of the first, work on the second.

Raimondo is a bit rubbish. Don't judge the line based on her.... it's a CL with CA guns.
-
Seconded. Enjoy your ship.
-
Odd, that. The Tier II and III are bordering on completely OP. Di Guissano is OK too, if played within her means. Trento could do with another charge of smoke, otherwise she's fine.
-
It is, though. Take the CV side of the map, shoot SAP at destroyers and AP at cruisers (you will have good angles on Emerald and Emile Bertin), use smoke to avoid Missouri, solo the CV (easily done), then lob SAP over the island at lots of juicy broadsides. Put up spotter plane for extra accuracy on Atlanta, Shchors, etc. Gorizia is better suited to the transports. SAP and Hydro will quickly dispose of that irritating Nicholas without issue, you can get that side done early doors and get back to support the base ships. The same thing, btw, applies to Trento in an OP like Killer Whale. Shoot the DDs to bits with ease and let everyone else crack on.

The Tier V (Raimondo) is not great. She doesn't play like a Light Cruiser. Trento is actually quite good, and no squishier than any other Tier VI. Play her in operations to see her shine, whacking DDs and light cruisers. Zara - as well as being one of the best looking ships in the game - is also pretty strong. As others say, Sansonetti makes these ships sing.

Only if the bots were BBs. Other ship classes are too complicated for the AI, but shooting things with big guns? They can do that alright. Probably better than most players...

Tons of Coal with nothing to spend it on..
invicta2012 replied to GraySlayer's topic in General Discussion
I have 250,000 Coal sitting about and have decided that none of the the current Tier IX or X ships in the Armory appeal. I am hoping that the Siliwangi, Paolo Emelio or Marceau are made available that way... it really is time there was a Coal DD about the place. -
Your top 3 ships that you look forward to play with

It's not difficult to create a positive atmosphere. Just give people twice as many compliments as reports. I find myself being stingy in my compliments because I don't have enough... five star run in an Operation would be compliments all round (except for that Gneisenau at the back, you know who you are) but I can do that once a day, and then I can't say ta to anyone else.. Meanwhile we have enough collective strength to downvote and really punish the buffoons, incompetent and learners.... and then wonder why karma is generally seen as a negative influence. More upvotes, please.

What order do the Scenarios run in - waiting for Narai!!!
invicta2012 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Ah, they'd got that the wrong way round. Missouri (and Iron Duke, for that matter) is obsessed with shooting cruisers. Zara should have gone for the transports, Gadja for the Missouri, Fiji up north for the Carrier. -
HMS M1 combines the Surcouf style sub and the Monitor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_M1 I would also quite like.... The Royal Navy "V Leader" large destroyer design (inspired the Dido class CLs and the Tribal class DDs, basically 5 twin 4.7 mounts on a large DD hull, a counter to the large French destroyers) Krasny Kavkaz (Russian heavy cruiser, essentially Krasny Krym with single 7 inch guns) The "Reverse Nelson" - inspired by the Lyon class and the fact that they could never, ever trim a ship like that - this would be a three turreted ship with all the turrets behind the superstructure and all the secondary armament on the front. Completely bonkers? The French looked at designs like this when designing "Richelieu" (Project 5 and 5bis shown here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richelieu-class_battleship#Design

invicta2012 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Where was your team's Gadja Madah at that point? If the cruisers barged in front then they got all they deserved, but a DD should be in place to smack that Missouri hard before it gets around the island. -
Still less than 35k...

Presumably people thought that 18,000 doubloons invested early would get you the value of 35,000 later on. It was all a bit complicated, really.

Randoms are OK... if people play by the script. People don't seem to realise that you don't really need BBs to do the carrier or transports - one Italian cruiser can do either now, the irritating DDs are easy to wreck with SAP, which means the main force can be much stronger than before. -
He'd be great on the Leone. .... <sigh>

This is what happens when you install the Jingles captain....

It's several things. A rehearsal space and training room, for sure, a low-stress way of nuking pixel ships, but also a relief from the annoyances of Random games - and there are ever more of those, from tryhard players, players who don't try at all, toxic chat, Aircraft Carriers, radar, campy meta and - I'm sure, given time, Submarines. I don't think I play it because it's E-Z mode - it's much more satisfying defeating an enemy in Randoms - but the lack of CVs and old-school game play (fewer radar ships, etc) is more interesting. Operations, similarly, are a fond reminder of earlier, simpler gameplay rather than the express train to gimmickville we seem to be on at the moment.

So. As well as getting a low return from the Santa Crates (as expected) I also bought the Gorizia. I'm not cross - it's a recoupable expense from the NY events (and yes, I have done the maths) - but I really don't understand the why part of this ship. It's Zara. Without torpedoes, which makes it even worse against battleships than her sister. The guns aren't much better, it has slightly better AA and secondaries. And that's it. It's an identi-ship. Why is this a Premium ship, or an event prize? Why did they even bother to make it? Genova was entertainingly rubbish. This isn't. There are perfectly decent (albeit unpopular) Italian Tier VII/VIIIs already. If I'd needed to buy Abruzzi or Roma to do this grind, or they had been the consolation prize, then that would have been OK. Do WG think everyone would have been put off, any more than they are going to be by this ship? Is there some close range uber-brawl Tier VII situation where I'm going to think "wow, I'm glad I had hydro", because so far all I'm getting are Tier IX maps, where I think "wow, I wish I'd brought something else".

Here's #1 (Gorizia game - the Lead Transport Ship goes bonkers and heads off to god knows where) and #2 - Algerie game - where Transport Ship 3 and the Lead Ship try and YOLO a Colorado. 20200102_225454_PISC607-Gorizia_s07_Advance.wowsreplay 20200102_231522_PFSC107-Algerie_s07_Advance.wowsreplay -
That was a while ago. If people can cope with Operations-level bots then they can cope with harder ones in Co-op. The main reason why Co-op has to remain daft is that WG don't want to give people any more reasons not to play Randoms.
