I wonder about this spotter plane design
invicta2012 replied to Atorpad's topic in General Discussion
That's a single use plane. Pilot either had to return to land or bail out. Not uncommon.... -
At the moment? CVs: None DDs: Lightning, Hsein Yang, Yudachi (finally got her right... speed flag, Torpedo Acceleration), Kiev Cruisers: Albemarle, Wichita, Nuevo De Julio, Molotov, BBs: Monarch, WV41, Jean Bart, DunkerQ.

New Ship. Australian Bush Fire Appeal
invicta2012 replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
Not about the Bush Fire appeal, but here's a jolly offer involving the Perth: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-events/loot-and-plunder-from-down-under/ -
Friendly Fire- why still present in game?
invicta2012 replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
It's a mixed bag, especially in co-op games. People ignore it and spam torps to try and win the kill race (what are they going to do, make you play co-op...??) and others just crash into it even when the torpedoes were spotted from space (what's the penalty? playing more co-op?). But I wouldn't remove it, as I think it would just make the mode even more selfish than it currently is. -
A more durable Charlie Martel might have been of interest. It's a fun ship but made of Explodium, don't see that nerfing its speed and DPM makes sense. They could have gone to town on the Siliwangi - I'd have loved a ship with some wild gimmick like a TRB which gives you one salvo of fast torpedoes instead of their normal speed, or long range when they're normally short (I believe it was possible for ships to do this in reality). Perhaps that could be the Russian Tier VIII DD, Vnezapny (it means Unexpected).

Irian was an actual Sverdlov class cruiser... She is an Mk clone but clearly the consumables are different. In Soviet service, btw, she was involved in a diplomatic incident: while in Portsmouth, ferrying Krushchev to a diplomatic meeting, MI6 sent a diver down to take a look at her... He turned up dead a little while later. She is also the source of an amusing anecdote in the James Bond book "Forever and A Day" where a Soviet cruiser captain loses his shirt (and the ship's treasury) in a casino and threatens to turn the ship's guns on the casino unless they give him his money back. (they do).

History? The Soviets were very happy to pass on all manner of ships to the Indonesians, quite a good opportunity to get some quirky designs in the game [and it is a different class of ship to the Oggy] Quite interested in Siliwangi but might wait and see how the new Torp module goes before shelling out £££.

British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles
invicta2012 replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
Do you think it might possibly be that the free bundle distribution is weighted so that the ships drop towards the end of the event, so ensuring people keep playing and are encouraged to buy premium bundles out of impatience? -
Any news on when we can expect the Benham?
invicta2012 replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Never, I hope. It is a little OP (and the fact it's vulnerable to CVs is not an adequate offset). Another multi torp US DD would be great, but better balancing is needed. -
That's a losing strategy, tbh. It's Ok for BBs but cruisers need to be a bit more mobile.
-
Nonsense. Having challenged myself to play this mission and win in as many DDs as possible, I know its possible to do well in Aigle, Guepard, Farragut, Icarus, Gallant... But failing to torp the Izumo is unforgiveable. And in Newport you don't get interrupted by onrushing Scharnhorsts, keen - so keen - to get their torps out.

British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles
invicta2012 replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
HMS London and Andrew Cunningham, the RN captain, according to the Dev blog. The set up is similar to the Gorizia/ Sansonetti deal for Italian cruisers.... Complete the Directives for London (expect bonuses for having particular ships) and tokens for the Captain. -
You think Savage Mode Shrinking Map would work in Randoms ?
invicta2012 replied to Sunleader's topic in General Discussion
Splendid idea. Add power up zones, spaceship models and some anime stylings, too. Then you can have done with it all and change the name of the game to "World of Generic Combat". Much easier then all of that tedious balancing malarky and dull old history. -
CVs tend to be OK with the initial waves of attackers but lack DPM with the final wave. Newport has got harder recently as the Liberty/maintainer ships have been affected by the AI movement bug and they don't end up in their old end game positions, which can make survival more difficult. Personally I would bring something like an Aigle or Leander/Perth/Huang He as they work well, with their DPM and smoke for concealment, or perhaps a faster French battleship for getting around the map? US BBs often get caught in position and HE spammed to death.

dd nerf Huge DD nerf might be coming for patch 0.9.1
invicta2012 replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Well... it is, really. It provides a significant buff to thoroughbred IJN type torp boats while reducing the efficacy of generalists such as the US, RN and PA line which - dare I say it - perhaps have enough things going for them already? It also reduces the efficacy of super slow torpedoes from the like of Black and Sims, which really shouldn't be that good..... ... I also wonder how many BB players we will see taking it. German BBs perhaps, with their brawling playstyle? Not a small market for WG, by all accounts.... (....oh, and I think it's cruiser players who need to worry more than DDs). -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
invicta2012 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Today's best achievement was getting sunk (scoring 0 damage) by a nonchalant bot Le Fantasque, who spotted my destroyer, ignored it, sped away in the opposite direction firing at someone else, and then sank me with torpedoes precisely aimed at the course taken by someone attempting to avoid sneaky fire torps. I hate it when they do that. The icing on the cake was that I was in a Lo Yang. My team decided to rub it in by all using their consumables at once, meaning that chat consisted of nothing but messages saying "I'm Using Hydroacoustic Search!". Witty fellows, ha ha, off to gulag with you. -
British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles
invicta2012 replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
According to the Developer Bulletin, London is the prize for completing the next four Directives of RN Cruisers Part II. At least, it is if I've read this right... https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/bulletin-091/ -
I play Co-op and Operations, these days. I wish it was more demanding but it's easy to complete the directives/grinds and much less stressful than playing randoms, because of the lack of team mates and CVs.

British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles
invicta2012 replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
Why? As far as I can see the Directives and Royal bundles just give the same results as regular containers, where you get some resources, some flags, and a very small - tiny, even - chance of a ship dropping in a super container. Just an extra bonus, thanks for playing. I don't see that the Imperial doubloon bundles are worth the money, unless you're happy spending the equivalent of the straight purchase of a Tier VIII cruiser from the Armory (11k dubs or so), on random boxes, which I'm not - the chance of success is very low. But you don't have to spend anything if you don't want to. -
The new RN CLs dont have "propulsion mod2" baked in?
invicta2012 replied to cracktrackflak's topic in General Discussion
They don't have it. You don't really need it baked in - Albemarle's rudder shift is pretty quick (same as Edinburgh) and her turning circle small, so fit the Propulsion Mod and you'll be well equipped. -
Gosh no. Much more Krister Henriksson (Wallander). 100% Swedish.
-
The same way they balanced Haida.... As we have British and Canadian Tribals already that really only leaves the Australian ones and the Canadians with the quad 4 inch turrets. Haida is balanced around her smoke and enhanced guns, so make the Aussie ones have more of a torpedo speciality... a Tier VII with Jervis guns and Cossack torps would be fine.

New Ship. Australian Bush Fire Appeal
invicta2012 replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
They're UK designs but most of them ended up being rather different to the RN versions, in ways which would certainly be acceptable in the game. Combine them with Canada for some additional possibilities; there are BCs, CA/CLs, and whole lines of DDs available. -

Naughty! I'd like a Wombat sauntering down the Quarterdeck. (Well, we've got a cat on an Aircraft carrier, Koala on a Cruiser....) -

Disaster relief is hardly politics. We all complain how WG tries to get us to spend more than we meant to on the game.... why not use that for good? Easy to make a donation and do something worthwhile in the game, with British heavy cruisers launching: rush-release a Commonwealth County class cruiser, three of which served in the RAN during WW2 - make some quick changes to make it a little different from the main line Devonshire ( in the Gorizia/Zara style), camo + 10pt captain, stick the whole bundle in the store for £25-30 and give the profits to an appropriate charity. Everyone's a winner.
