    WoWS Warhammer Collab

Aww no. Not Games Workshop. I'd rather put up with the Weebs than the Evil Empire.

    PT, Balance changes

She was the only British cruiser without one, so she got it in the last balancing round, for continuity reasons. Bit much, really, and a gift to sealclubbers - Caledon and Danae are quite squishy, Weymouth isn't, she plays against weak opposition and her guns are potent. New players don't know how that AP works, but it's nasty if you aim it right. Very, or she used to be. I think she was the sealclubber's choice - but they've moved on to the Pan Asian DDs as far as I can see.

    PT, Balance changes

They gave her a heal, when she has the health pool of a Tier IV. So I guess they had to do something to even it up. Valkyrie is getting hit with the stick, though. 5.8 s reload on a 4 inch gun?

    Any point playing Battleships anymore

There's no point playing Battleships anymore, because.... Everyone's got bigger guns. (have they?) Everyone's got more armour (you sure about that?) No-one supports you (can't hear you from back there, matey) CVs are such a pest (sound of distant hollow laughter from DD captains)

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)

The guns are fine, the concealment is competitive - nothing wrong with 6.1k - and the ship is more versatile than the Shira. I think it was the combination of WG selling it as Asashio's little sister - it's not - and disappointed weebs that give the ship a poor reputation. I grew to like it.

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)

That's very l33t thinking. If you spec the Yudachi right you end up with a Shiratsuyu with TRB and Smoke and 12k torpedoes which are faster than Shira's. Yes, her torpedo visibility is relatively poor but unless you are spamming torps on the off-chance your TRB will let you cover off all the angles of escape. It's an interesting variation on the theme. Yes, there may be be better ships but we don't always want to play the bestest mcbestest ship - it's more interesting to try various styles and approaches.

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)

Probably someone who doesn't have a Gorizia or a Yudachi. Both which are decent and interesting variations on the Zara and Shiratsuyu class. Niche, yes, but that's fun. I like a challenge.

EU Destroyers getting tyred of them

Here's a tip for you. The Priority Target skill shows players targeting you with guns, not torpedoes. Most DDs - and especially those at lower tiers - will be looking for targets with their guns, and then switch to torpedoes. So watch the number of ships targeting you, and if it goes up, then down... expect torpedoes. The other tip, if you like BBs, is to grit your teeth and hurry through to tier V. You can go back and revisit Suvorov, Nassau, etc, when you feel like it - Tier V is where you get some ships with speed, and guns that aren't deliberately wonky, and some (hello Kongo) even have decent torpedo protection....

EU Destroyers getting tyred of them

Yes, but it's always been like that. Clemson - with its 12 full fat torpedoes - is much more of a problem for a BB than Klas Horn. In many ways the European DDs are an attempt at a DD rework - they're smaller, have weaker torps, can't hide in smoke, and aren't a mortal threat to BBs.

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)

Zara's great, and by far the best looking ship in the game. Well, apart from Myoko in a Type 59 camo.

    T22 Hydro

Oh yes, they gave her Hipper torps. 6k torpedoes and the same crappy guns, with a pen bonus. A ship which will perform worse at its Tier than T-61 would. They might as well C&P T-61 up to Tier VIII and give her that extra module, she'd be much better.
  13. invicta2012

    T22 Hydro

Is that the new one, then? It's quite interesting if they are giving the German DDs improved HE pen but the main line is still way outclassed by every other DD line. Those guns just don't cut it anymore... Tier V reload and HE damage won't do at Tiers VIII upwards. They should definitely take the hint from Haida and buff the high tier ships' shell damage. DD play has such short windows to make an impact, these days - can't do that with German guns which are slow to traverse and - unlike the Soviets - don't do much damage when they are on target.

    T22 Hydro

Ah, German destroyers. Occasional moments of fun and days of misery. Too big, too slow, too undergunned. I'll be interested to see what WG have in store for that new premium, but it looks about two tiers too high.....

An idea for Duke of York

Ah yes, G3, N3, K3 and all points in between. All distinguished by the fact the Royal Navy knew they could actually build them, as shown by the designs being cut down into the Nelson class. But, had they been built, I suspect they would have been a liability in WW2, 1920s designs and huge targets for submarines and aircraft and (no doubt) lacking the modern defensive features of the KGVs, Lions and Vanguard. That looks like Albemarle..... :)
  16. invicta2012

An idea for Duke of York

But but but but.... Monarch is a Tier VIII KGV with 15 inch guns and Tier VIII plating. And Lion is also an improved KGV.... the problem with British battleships in this game is that they form a sensible and logical progression... once Jacky Fisher is out of the picture there are no fantastical ships, no "Churchill's Monsters" to make from napkin sketches. It's all much too sensible. Personally I would leave DoY at Tier VII and just revert the citadel changes. KGV is very close to a super-cruiser with her fast reload and HE spam, so make DoY more of a Warspite, tankier with more accurate AP. Genova remains hilariously wonky, and I'll happily have more of that type of ship in the game. It looks like a cut-price battleship and is, in fact, a torpedo cruiser. If you want a meh event ship then Siroco - a cut and paste Tier IV with a nice camo and MBRB - is your girl.

    How to dodge rocket planes?

Brake, Turn, Smoke, or hit the speed boost. Work with your cruisers and BBs - a CV who is focusing you is not focusing on other ships' flak circles and they can lose squads quickly. Don't go alone into the caps early doors - wait for the CV to show their hand, pull them back onto the AA of your team mates. Make it difficult for them and they will go away.

What I am doing wrong ?

Don't fire torpedoes from the second line, like they said. But. But but but. I have a Yahagi and, like, Yudachi, she suffers from torpedoes which are too big for the maps she plays on. If your captain doesn't have the Torpedo Acceleration skill, make sure you add it, as that will reduce your torp range to a much more sensible 9.6 km. Also - get to know that ship's guns, they're good!

The premiums that time (Updates) forgot

Mutsu is less fun than you might think. Surprise torpedoes are one thing, her secondaries promise a great deal but don't deliver, and her main guns are more vague than Dunkerque or Gneisenau, which is saying something.

The premiums that time (Updates) forgot

Leningrad is fine. The only thing I would like to keep her up to date is a teeny tiny buff to turret traverse. Otherwise she has ludicrous Stalinium shells, 8k torps and 43kts base speed. Nothing to complain about there. As for the other Soviet DDs - those are suicide torps but they do hit very, very hard. If I was feeling generous I might ask for an upgrade to the Krasny Krym ones (which are 5k) Huang He is one of those ships people hate until they play it, and then they realise it's a punchy little thing. Boise/NdJ sacrifice range for heal, and that's a fair trade IMHO.

The premiums that time (Updates) forgot

Well, the IFHE rework was not kind to Tier VII Cruisers or DDs. And the CV Rework was a classic example of WG rethinking part of the game without considering how people play against it. AA remains a terrible, terrible joke, and WG should not be selling anything based on its perceived AA abilities. However.... Atlanta remains ludicrously overpowered in certain game modes. I would suspect that the reason we don't have too many Tier VII operations is simply because Atlanta farms the heck out of them. And for that reason alone I don't see her getting buffed. Sims I still like. It's a quirky boat, not at all optimal, but still quick and nimble and unusual to play and play against. And if you don't like it, play Mahan - still a great ship. I will admit I don't see the point in Gallant any more, especially not with her total lack of AA and limited smokes. Icarus is so much better.

    Indianapolis - Warning

Pensa is now a bit of beast. 25mm bow armour / overall plating on a Heavy Cruiser at Tier VI is no joke, especially with 10 x 203mm guns. That combo would be more than viable on a Tier VIII. Add that to the fact she's got a 102mm belt strip forwards and bow tanking suddenly becomes a real possibility. Indi either needs a buff to her bow armour or a Boise style heal... light cruiser armour on a ship like that is not a good deal.

    Buy Ochakov and pyotr Bagration

Ah, I forget they changed that at Tier X. This is the reason why Krasny Krym is the best ship in the game, you see - her teeny tiny DD guns are still perfectly capable of penning the deck of a King George V or a Lyon, which usually comes as a horrid surprise to the captains of those ships. But you can still do nasty damage to BBs in a Smolensk, and it is still a huge danger to cruisers and DDs. I think it's only those super cruisers it really doesn't like. (Thinking about super cruisers: I have nearly 1,000,000 Free XP. I have to buy an Alaska with it, don't I?)
  24. invicta2012

    Buy Ochakov and pyotr Bagration

You will still make any charging BB use his DamCon. And that means, if you're playing with your team, that 30 seconds later they will have 2/3 fires burning, be vulnerable to flooding, and probably reconsidering their recent life choices. If your Smolensk player has any sense they've also picked on the BB they can really hurt - a British or French one, maybe - and that can really start to tip the scales in a team's favour. It's the same play style as any HE spamming Soviet cruiser from Krasny Krym upwards - pick the soft target and mash it up so hard it's out of the game within the first couple of minutes.
