You should still switch to AP when there is a broadside, for example my stock Udaloi wrecked a Kaba yesterday because he only fired HE while I had AP loaded and wrecked him. Why would you fire HE at a RN cruiser, they get citadel-ed from any angle. And it is no use trying to defend the Conqueror as if any BB can stick with HE that only requires you to hit the target and can still cause that much damage is not OP with a supper heal and better concealment than some cruisers. You should have won seeing as the enemy team didn't have a Conqueror.

I agree that it would be nice to be able to lower the regularity of certain game modes... standard battle, but it cannot be at the expense of match finding taking too long. I know how you feel, every time I get Tears of the Cruisers I am mostly in a cruiser as well, it's worse if it is standard battle or epicenter though as cruisers can only hide behind the islands until enough BBs man up and move out of the spawn. And I remember getting Ocean when I just bought the Roon, playing that match in stock configuration was painful, mind you I can think of worse cruisers to be stuck in, RN, USN or IJN.

Just saying the Duca D'Aosta is not a long rage cruiser it is most effective at 10km and under, but you have to know when and were there is a safe situation to use it. Speed and agility are your survive-ability, but with regular tier 8 Match making it might not be good for you with so few battles. Personally it would be my pick as it is one of my favorite cruisers to play but I have a lot of games in cruisers so I am used to playing with the rudder to dodge shells (might be why I'm not too keen on the Russian cruisers). I would say get up a tech tree branch of at least the same level as the premium you are considering before buying as the game-play can be quite different. Mind you the Duca D'Aosta isn't on sale that often so as WG have hinted that a line will be coming next year possibly for the Italians it might be worth preparing for it. Just putting this out there, ever considered the Giulio Cesare BB at tier 5 it has good speed and maneuverability with accurate guns, down side is that any side to another BB will deal loads of damage in return, so it plays more like a heavy cruiser, and being a tier lower it might be more suitable.

I know how this feels, while using the Giulio Cesare I had an 11 win streak while maintaining 76k average damage and even having 3 game with 4 kills and the team still lose, totally obliterated my win rate for that ship, think it is currently at 36% while having 5th highest average damage about 10k behind my tier 10 cruisers and 6k behind my Bismarck (about even with the Orion stats on average damage). Still enjoyed the ship just got rather frustrated with RNGesus potato teams.

Just putting this out there; the Giulio Cesare plays more like a heavy cruiser as it has to dodge other BBs shells rather than tank them, it's armor as only really good against cruisers. Any slight glimpse of it's broadside and even the under gunned Gnisenau can take 80% of your HP in one go. Yes it does have very reliable guns but to say in the fight you need good WASD hacks and knowledge on good positioning/target selection.

Well the Giulio Cesare works fine at tier 7...

Just saying WG tried this and then reverted this on the Giulio Cesare, used to have cruiser dispersion but terrible sigma. They will probably have it dropped to tier 6 because of a minority of very vocal complainers like how the KGV was moved from tier 8 to 7 at the last minute.

So would want, might work well with a Akizuki/Harekaze captain.

There is some truth that a large number of Premium BB players are a bit... useless. Will say though that it seems to mainly be a Tirpitz problem, so I always would prefer a Bismarck player instead, but with the hunt the Bismarck campaign handing a load out, they aren't too reliable now either. Lets revise this it is a German BB player problem that they like to sit at max range and miss most of the time, doesn't matter what tier as had a Koing in a match yesterday that went round the map boarder while my rather less tanky Giulio Cesare was on the front lines supporting the cruisers. Needless to say the game was lost and he was still on full HP.

First game in the stock QE I only used AP, ended up with 90k damage.

The reason was that some idiots were rather vocal that 14" guns have not enough penetration at that tier because they cannot over match much... the 320mm on the Giulio Cesare have no trouble with T7 BBs if you know what you are doing and neither do the Scharnhorst's 11"ers, instead we have one of the most heavily armored BBs that gets overmatched by most BBs and bullies T5 ships.

No it only applies if the ship is moved to the new branch, like for the RD DDs owning the Ognevoi gave me a new tier 8 and the Kiev the other.

Why on earth in the Duke of York tier 7, I mean the normal KGV should have been tier 8, remove the fantasy POS know as the Monarch already. I thought this was just going to be a money grab with WG releasing the Duke of York at the correct tier, but instead they are sticking with the stupid whiners that 14" guns are no good at tier 8. No reason to buy her with the KGV already there... not that I am going past tier 6 anyway because I would just be thinking why did they gimp the armor to drop it a tier for no god damn reason. Looking forward to the Roma though, even if I know that it will be god damn expensive. Having so much fun in the Giulio Cesare atm (my current 4th best ship for average damage and it is only beaten by 2 tier 10 cruisers and the Bismarck), and the Duca D'Aosta was fun too, damn it, now I have 2 more Italian ships to buy.

Damn you WG, your emptying my wallet with all these sexy Italian Ships! Cannot wait, hope it feels just as responsive as the Giulio Cesare as it is probably my favorite BB atm, with my 4th highest average damage only ships I have that beat it are the Zao, Hindenburg & Bismarck.

If it is like the RU DD split you will get a Tier 8 Cleveland and a Tier 6 Pensacola.

Mind you they tend to release this chart first to start the hype, it has been the same with every new line/split, as we still haven't had one for the French BBs, the Cruiser split might actually come first.

It is possible to 1 shot cruisers in the Pensacola, you can easily delete T5 cruisers in 1 salvo with it (Note: I played it before the buffs). So they will have to nerf something about the guns.

Light refers to the gun caliber being 6" not 8", and not about the armor. Just because the RN cruisers were made supper squishy by WG doesn't mean these ships will just explode, like how a Cleveland is harder to Citadel than a Pensacola.

Damn my NO will no longer be able to use stearing mod 3... I like my 2.4s rudder shift cruiser :( Luckily I am not far off the Baltimore so this should be a good earner for me.

Just managed to end the loss streak with over 100k damage and leading the charge in a tier 7 game in the same ship. Just rather depressing when you want at least one win so you can get the first win bonus, and no matter what match you get put in your team mates just drop like files. Especially annoying when you have 2.5 times the base xp of the second player on your team and third highest overall.

Just saying I'm having a loss streak atm with the Giulio Cesare was at 53% win ratio and in 2 days while being mostly satisfied with the ship and my play it has dropped to 33% because of a 11 loss streak! It doesn't mean squat if you hold back solo 4 ship if the rest of your team just dies despite the numerical advantage, it is the reason that being in a division improves your win rate... you can guarantee the quality of at least 1 or 2 of your team, making it easier to carry rather than being the sole player supporting the entire team.

I found both good for their tier but the Giulio Cesare is more fun to use, the play styles are very different. The Revolution is more a traditional BB great armor when angled and take little HE damage and the guns are quite reliable but awkward to use due to the layout and gun angles, the Cesare plays more like a heavy cruiser you have to keep moving and avoid shots rather than take them on the belt using the maneuverability, speed and concealment to stay alive, but the guns are great at both HE and AP, and have really good accuracy for a tier 5 BB. Basically you were probably playing the Cesare like a traditional BB and took tonnes of damage, it is worth noting it is immune to Bow Citadels but it will still take full pen damage through it.
