WG, why did you nerf Ägir's secondary guns?
Chaos_Umbra replied to Mastodon2's topic in General Discussion
Stalingrad has 0.1km worse concealment and plays very much like the Moskva except more AP focused and the AP being super accurate with short fuse and improved pen angles, you can even citadel an Ohio from 22km with it's guns. However when all ships are sitting bow in it's damage output dwindles and it also burns more than Moskva, in that situation your better off trying to shoot the opposite flank from 20km. It is a ship that massively punishes any mistakes the enemy makes, but can be countered with a good flank and focus fire... though it will take a while to sink it even with 6 ships shooting at it... -
RU BBs were going to also have a 15km radar in the early iterations, though it could only spot BBs and CVs. Not like the ships needed even more tools...

Branch of the tech tree. Which is appropriate to learn?
Chaos_Umbra replied to lospescas's topic in General Discussion
Just gonna point this out but for the last few years the level of play at tier 10 is quite often worse than at tier 6 due to the players who rush to tier 10 without learning anything so most games end very quickly as the MM often seems to put a lot of the lower WR players all in the same team. It is good that you are actively trying to learn properly and not rush up too fast and not focus on one nation or class. In fact most fun games are found in the mid tiers anyway. -
WG, why did you nerf Ägir's secondary guns?
Chaos_Umbra replied to Mastodon2's topic in General Discussion
My Kronshtadt must be balanced differently as I seem to get a lot of long range citadels with it and seem to tank really well in it, as an overall package I prefer it to the Stalingrad as it has reasonable stealth allowing you to play much more mobile and not just stuck bow in, you can more easily get flanks on the enemy to get those broadside shots. -
Not had an issue with the pen too much the guns are capable of citadeling an NC from 16km away and easily citadel any cruiser at said range (got a Stalingrad at 17km yesterday justicewas served). Tend to try and flank wide to get the broadside shots early game then push in mid to late game and if there is an opportunity to rush a smokescreen I take it. I actually managed to get several solo caps in the ship surprisingly... must be due to patch weekend players allergy to cap circles... mind you they were games with no CV and 1 or 0 DDs...
-
Played her a fair bit so far, other than it being cursed with awful teams, I basically get multiple citadels a game even on BBs, I tend to play mid to long range early then late game push in. If not angled you take massive AP pen damage but you take minimal HE damage in comparison. So far really enjoying it too.

The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
Chaos_Umbra replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
Never said it was at Agir or Alaska levels, still it now gives it protection against Gneisenau, Bismarck, Tirpitz, Richelieu, Gascogne, Alsace, Jean Bart, Bourgogne, Monarch, Vanguard & Roma at long range. A fair amount of the ships in it's MM bracket plus the new T9 German BB in testing. And as the Azuma plays mostly at range the deck armour is important, more so than the Bow and Sterne. -
WG, why did you nerf Ägir's secondary guns?
Chaos_Umbra replied to Mastodon2's topic in General Discussion
All it needs is the secondaries to match the Hydro range so they are effective when hydroing smokescreens. And maybe a accuracy buff at those ranges... I got only 30 hits out of 260 fired at a range of about 4km... -
The 1,000,000 XP Question - Agir, Azuma, Alaska?
Chaos_Umbra replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
I never said the ends were 27mm I only the deck and upper belt, either way it means at range you can now bounce 380mm shells off the deck which is still an improvement however small. Also Kronshtadt got the same buff. -

Chaos_Umbra replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
Actually that info is out of date as all the super cruisers got buffed with the IFHE rework, Azuma now has a 27mm deck and upper belt so it can tank some 380mm guns now. -
Flamu said that Siegfield is not a good ship, just okish
Chaos_Umbra replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
He also said that the Duca D'Aosta and Hunghe were terrible ships... to me they are some of the best tier 6 cruisers. -

Chaos_Umbra replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
TBH it only need the secondaries to be buffed to 6km (ATM 5.3km is worse than the Leander's secondaries FYI), and maybe an improvement in accuracy (with the default range I got a hit ratio of 11.5%) it will mean that your secondaries will be able to shoot at anything you pick up with Hydro and be able to hit, don't think the Agir needs more than that as it is essentially a flanking cruiser and it doesn't have the tankiness to stand up to concentrated BB AP as it eats massive AP pens, but having the secondaries match the Hydro will work well in those situations where you rush a DD in smoke cause the HE output on the main guns is low in that situation. I found the AP decent and the guns accurate, had 7 citadels in one match but you do need to get those flanks to do it, so CVs can really mess it up. -
You do know the Mainz's HE DPM is also higher than all but 2 of the T10 cruisers, plus has 38mm of HE pen built in? And a turtle back citadel and 8 torps a side with 6km Hydro... Only downside it has is concealment... Bayard is a good ship When I tried it out as a rental, but it doesn't compete with the Mainz in shear reliable DPM...
-
That is a lot of broadsiding Cruisers plus as he said great MM, did you notice the percentage of the Odin's hit pool the Takao was able to chip off in just 1 salvo? This is the only real issue with the ship supper low HP pool, kinda like the Viribus Unitis as long as they are shooting AP and you angle correctly your fine but as soon as you take any kinda HE fire you are in a situation where you need to kill the target fast cause it is no the fires, they don't do much due to the low HP pool it's the sear HE alpha that will wreck you. It needs at least the same HP pool as the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.

Thanks for that

So you reset once then play each ship once then reset again, or can you free xp through reset again without playing and then play each ship once as that will save credits, does it work like that? I haven't touched the thing cause it is the worst feature they added to the game, I still have the initial 10k though, so I can think of it as a more expensive Free XP ship...
-
Those fools do fund the game so you don't have to...
-
Is that where you reset the line free xp back to tier 10 then immediately reset again without playing them, then free xp the ships again but do 1 win in coop on each? Cause was there something where the bonus multiplied on the following reset or something I recall Flamu doing it ages ago... would just make the Seigfried an expensive Free xp ship...

Definitely go for the Venezia as the Goliath is a downgrade from the Drake.

That is the normal plating for a T7 CL so not exactly weak in bow and stern armour, will probably have a turtle-back, but most importantly it will be a T7 CL that can pen 32mm of armour with HE cause since the IFHE change all T7 CLs have been heavily shafted as even with IFHE they cannot damage T8 BBs Bow and Stern, where as cause this has German HE characteristics it pens 38mm by default. So it has that going for it and the stealth which equals the Surrey getting down to 9.7km.
-
But unlike Shchors that with IFHE only pens 31mm the München has 37mm HE pen built in so the effective DPM when not top tier will be higher.
-
It said 8km, which is better than all the Italian CAs, also has 15.6km gun range so inline with the Baltimore. Only downside compared to the Baltimore is the gun layout being a 50/50 split for and aft and the lack of radar.

PSA: If you are grinding Tier VI DD/CA/CL/BB use the new "Submarine Battle" game mode because it is great way to grind fast and efficient! :-)
Chaos_Umbra replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Essentially anything above 5.9m counts as surfaced and can be damaged by munitions also of note is that subs take damage as long as they are in the blast radius so even if the HE shell hits the water next to it the sub will take damage if it is in the shell blast. Everything below 6m counts as submerged and cannot be damaged by Surface munitions only Depth charges or ramming. This is why they all sit at 5.9m cause you gain nothing by being shallower and can quickly dip down to become immune to damage if spotted. -
Another Smoke cruiser with HE do we really need another Kutzutov/Smolensk but with 10.5km torps on top? I'm more interested in the German ship, didn't get the Mainz cause I'm in a state of not wanting to put cash into the game atm but this one is getting my interest especially the stealth of the thing, also the looks, it isn't an almost copy of the Hipper hull like the Mainz.

Incorrect the 5.9-6.1 is in meters so it is and even worse change of the Sub dropping 20cm to become invincible... also they need to have it show what depth the sub is at even if not targeted because it wastes time switching to it to find out you can't hit it and CVs can't target it in the first place...
