Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
GulvkluderGuld replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Didnt I get the news. RADAR? on an entire frigging DD line?? And better concealment than other dds too??? Might be the final nail in the coffin. I'm already moving away from playing DDs except for ranked. They should nerf HE on cruisers too and remove TB from CVs. Then BBs can finally have their own game! Couldn't agree more. On a more serious note. Why not give the panasian DDs the old 20 km Shima torps? The ones from before the detection nerfs (but only 2x5 launchers). Before the screams come in consider: they actually will be able to HIT bbs from far away. These days it is almost impossible to get into torp range for BBs (gearing exempted). -
KGV is unimpressive as hell coming from Queen Elizabeth. I would have sworn I did terrible in her before checking my stats... Actually do a few thousand more dmg in my KGV on average - and I thought 75k average on QE was pretty decent! Just stand off 12-15 km and spam HE exclusively at BBs. Dont bother use the mediocre AP on BBs, even broadside ones at sub 10 km. What should be 20-30k citadels is 5-8k in KGV AP on cruisers and dds is another story though. They get oneshot just fine.

Seen a lot of YT claiming Nelson has bad armor, but from playing against her I disagree. It isnt quite Izumo level of god-like troll-armor, but close. Provided you dont give more broadside than required to shoot all 3 turrets. Add to that she isnt easy to citpen through the nose as you would think - tried multiple times with 9 iowa shells from 6 km through the nose and all i got was 8-10k volleys. Add the great heal and fire chance on HE. Conclusion: Probably the best T7 BB atm. (KGV certainly is NOT it). Sure Missouri farms credits better, but for fun? Seems like a good choice. I definitely plan to get it after another 225k freeXp.

Operation Raptor Rescue - One Tough Cookie
GulvkluderGuld replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
The only problem with online games is there are other players Have no issues with any of the operations since they hard-nerfed Newport, in fact I find them so easy I never play them. Old newport was hard to get 3+ stars and I only got 5 stars once. CV used to be the go-to pick, and I've actually played a bit RR after the rebalance. It is a bit harder to get 5 stars now since you rely on your team to kill some of the dds and not ram torpedoes doing it. Nowhere near as hard as winning a random battle with a standard potato team though. CV can solokill the first wave no problem. TB on dd or 'taka after baiting furutaka DF with a fighter. DB staggered on Myogi for unrepairable fires. 2nd waveTB finish off whatever smallfry is left and DB finish Myogi or you can leave them to the team and hunt the 2nd wave cruisers. Next cruiser wave is a bit harder, but you can wipe one out after baiting DF and set one on fire. After that, go oneshot the Zuiho. Fighter to lock up his, DB to the face and after repair is blown follow with 1 TB and a DB for a oneshot, standard CV sniping tactics. 2nd TB on the kuma or dd. Now come the hard part where you are in the center and you get rushed by DDs. The North dds are the culprits as they will torp the CV and support ships, and there are enough dds to overwhelm your TB, so one will get through unless your team stops him (like, lol?). Next wave either for clean-up duty or go sink the Ryujo. He can be tricky, the dirty borderhumping sucker. So blow repair and get DB unrepairable fires to finish him. Now you get one strike at the last wave, then you have to move to beat Raptor to the finish, meanwhile using planes on the last wave. -
Played Leander and Ryujo for 2-3 games, then got bored with the Operation, it is too damned easy to 5-star. Now use it for sealclubbing in my Ryujo exclusively. Ryujo can solokill most of the moored ships. It deals fairly well with the re-inforcements, I say fairly because if you get the south exit point, striking the northern mission objective ships (kolberg and a bb) takes a bit too much time after soloing the CVs to be comfortable, just slight mistakes will lose you the last 5th star. Leander just shits on everything but the forts and is my favorite pick, it is specifically very good vs the northern ships as it can solo down the kolberg and torp the BB into oblivion.

This cannot go through, how did anyone not seem to notice this?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Kashuken's topic in General Discussion
Imagine shima with modern, wire-guided torpedoes, 20 km range, x10 dmg, and built in sonar to detect any ship inside 6 km. They only get one launch, reloads will be WW2 torps. Cruisers can exchange a turret for 16 Harpoon missiles with 150 km range BBs get 4.0 sigma and automated loading of 10s! Let the bloodbath commence. Problem of slow games solved, Ivan. Lets drink vodka! Forget it. That would be sensible so WG will never do it. -

Dont you mean the skill floor is higher for DDs than BBs? It is much harder to get good results in DDs and CAs compared to BB. Afterall, BBs can camp at the back for 10 mins and do just fine dmg. We saw that even in Ranked. Surviving in a DD or CA and impacting the game, now that is actually hard. Thus: higher skill floor than BBs. -
28 games, 19 wins, (73% WR) and 71k avg dmg including one game lost because I crashed at the start. Running my 15 point cleveland captain (using 14 points): PT AR DE IFHE, CE Next skill: either BFT (nice aa boost on top of dps boost) or Superintendant. Last skill: Joat. Conclusions - Wont trade CE away for anything. Getting close is what Flint is all about and the dps once there is insane! - Only missed having 4th smoke in 2 games, one of them was lost because no smoke. Superintendant is not really critical, but nice to have. - Due to the meta swapped out DF for Hydro after 15 games (getting torped quite a bit and used to play RN CAs). - Hydro won me a few games and allows silly things like: (stay safe), 100->0 a hydro-spotted Cleveland from between 2 km and 3,5 km as he rushed me, hydro-spot dds when they try rushing my smoke and thought nothing would spot them. Kill Scharhorsts point-blank with torps and dodge their counter-torps. - Dont miss DF, only 1 in 5 games even have a CV and only 1 of 28 games had 2 CVs on each side. Didnt die or lose games from missing DF. AA is ok too with aa range module. - IFHE + DE = quite decent fire chance. - AFT: Not needed for AA, missed it a bit for main guns: Its hard but possible to hit BBs at max range. Forget about CAs and DDs tho.

Feel the same. Today I didnt quite oneshot at full-hp Khaba in my Iowa. I "only" did 17.500 dmg to him in one volley! -
Oh silly me, I was thinking about the regular missions that can be done in coop but forgot about the epic achievements.

Got one today in my Iowa. Enemy strike Ranger focused me the entire game - ended on 50% hp and killed 44 planes in the process (along with 4 ships). Dont even have a single AA perk If you want to exploit - why not do CS T8+ in coop? Queue in Baltimore in div with a T7 CV or similar.

My experience and stats from a ton of games in both ships says the Fiji is the better ship in randoms. For ranked use where teamplay and radar matters a great deal, it is a toss up. - Belfast WR 61% and 52k avg dmg 1,19 kda. - Fiji WR 61% with 64k avg dmg and 1,39 kda. Since everybody and their mother focus the Belfast when they see it, a spotted Belfast tends to quickly become a dead Belfast (or chunked very low). In short, the Belfast has survival issues and no heal and must be played more defensively than Fiji (with heal), thus lower dmg. Then there is smoke sniping and blind fire into Belfast smokes, which also tends to happen a lot more if people know there is a Belfast inside. In short Fiji is the better solo ship and performs much more consistent due to the heal and torps. Belfast is more of a teamplay oriented boat as it needs protection from getting spotted, getting rushed in smoke by bbs, and teammates to shoot whatever it spots with radar.

Only if I fire my guns yes? So hydro-radaring the ever living daylights out of the enemy dds is going to remain as hilarious as ever. It can still spam HE as Lolanta not to mention burning BBs from 8-10 km Some of the crazier outplays will no longer be possible, true. But RN cruisers will have to remain viable, and if they do, so will Belfast. One interaction I wonder about - can you still pop smoke after shooting to go instantly undetected, or will the 20s debuff be applied regardless of whether you fired before smoking or vice versa.
-
Uhm, my no-IFHE Belfast begs to differ. With its smoke, hydro and radar combo and HE spam from smoke with DE, it is quite OP enough already. Ofc it all depends on how the smoke changes pan out.

Udaloi IX ---->Grozovoi X: wise decision, geneally speaking?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
Congratz on getting your TX :) Get khaba instead if you dont have it. Khaba doesnt care about campers :) i'm halfway though the udaloi grind for the 2nd time and despite loving it before, now it is really really frustrating to play (AGAIN, thanks for ruining the fun of a totally good and fun ship WG) -
Met a BBaby disguised as a Gaede today in my Fiji. Standard battle on Fault line, spawned near A with Gaede and Yorck. Gaede proceeds at 1/2 for the entire route to A instead of spotting, letting me overtake. I think screw it - full speed ahead. North of A behind the island poke out, spot 2 dd and pop smoke + hydro, sink a nearby spotted leander and reverse backs before the obligatory torps eat me alive. Much surprised i hear the torps connect with something, look behind me and Io and behold: - Behind me the Yorck was camping broadside on and just got rekt by said torps. - Behind the wreck of the Yorck, the Gaede was camping, also broadside on and reversing back. Would've been torped if not for Yorck. - did i mention my hydro was up? Gaede then leaves the smoke to flee, and soon after torps my smoke with me inside, probably thinking he might hit the 2 dds proximity spotting me as they charge to torp me.

Threw my 15 point IFHE+DE+CE Cleveland captain into my Flint for a couple sorties. The ship feels even more stupidly OP than I expected. Almost 90k avg dmg over 5 games (even higher than my Kutuzov). I found CE to be too good to pass up. Not having AFT didnt feel like costing much. Shells have to slingshot around the moon to reach max AFT range anyway. Fires are not rare in my Flint. Did the RN mission to start 10 bb fires in two games. With DE firechance goes from 2% to 4%, which seems pretty significant to me, but I didnt try without it yet. Also confirmed Torps are the Flints worst problem. Propulsion mod 2 really helps, but it makes the rudder shift feel pretty sluggish. Since CVs seems to have gone missing, maybe Hydro is a not a bad choice. Also I'm running the Flint without Superintendant and JoaT = only 3 smokes/game and so far I didnt miss having more.

WR > 51% is most important. Everything else is very ship/class dependent or depends on gameplay philosophy. Dd/cl generally have lower dmg than bb/cv, and usn ships are space domination ships with low dmg and kda because noone dare come close to radar/127 mm spam. Survival rate dont say much since it isnt rewarded economically, in fact the opposite is true. For instance, my survival rate is low because i always go all in during the dying minutes of the game since dmg = credits. If a player has OP ships like kutuzov and Belfast but still manage to suck that can give a pretty good impression.

Why do people want PM on Flint when it sits in smoke 80% of the time? Don't understand....Its not an Atlanta. Don't want to give up DE because fire chance will be almost zero. I ran DE on my USN dds and the difference was noticeable. I imagine running IFHE and no DE will be just as noticable (although you have a LOT of shells). AFT / CE - imagine i will test both. RN CL vs Flint - I think Flint will have an easier time with Propulsion mod 2 than RN CLs, but I have yet to try her (currently away from my WoWs pc).

Please include RADAR check in MM !!!!
GulvkluderGuld replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Bad excuse that only flies for a minority of games and strange times of the day. MM will quite often happily create 12 v 12 with 3 radar cruisers vs 3 equal tier non-radar cruisers (3 belfast vs 3 fiji/myoko/pensacola etc.) Granted this is also a minority of games, but they are also the most blatant fails of MM and changing it will have zero impact on queue times as classes and tiers are matched. -
Also new Flint owner. Went looking for a way to squeeze Vigilance into my build because of ranked experience with smoke torping. I plan to run DF as consumable choice, so torp protection can only be increased through Vigilance. Using above build you can trade AFT and AR for BFT and Vigilance and with propulsion mod be semi-safe from torps. BFT compensates nicely for the loss of AR. The question in my mind is if losing AFT will hurt too much when BBQing BBs and losing the range in general. (I plan to use the AA range module for at least 6 km aa). Another question is if CE is worth it on Flint? Any opinions?

Top tier DDs 8-10, do people enjoy them?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
have both Khaba and Gearing as well as Udaloi. Nothing wrong with those, although Khaba hardly qualifies as a DD. I never liked the IJN torpedoboats and only made the Hatsuharu (almost freeXPed that sh*t) so cant speak to those or the german things. I do grind RN CAs and love them. Gunboats are easy - you kill other dds so incredibly fast and then the map is your playground (unless that sky-disease is around). Its fun and impactful most of the time, although the camping BBabies meta can make dds a bit lonely. The start of the game is rough - usually its about hitting "S" as fast as possible when spotted (except Khaba) and smoking up. Since everyone and their mother will turn their guns around and light up a spotted dd, you tend to see any radar ships before they are in range. After that, just keep track of their position and either stay out of range or bait radar from max range and permaspot them after. Hydro? Who cares about hydro (unless its that german dd) Anything that get to hydro range means you mispositioned and usually have to all-in counter-rush and torp. Anything outside hydro range, you just spot for the big guns (except in Khaba). DD play these days isnt so much about damage, although Gearing torping smoked up blobs of ships 10-15 km away sometimes makes me feel dirty. Its zoning off areas, spotting, smoking and capping. -
Agree. You can find the info in the game client though. Same page where it shows your rank.
