    DD limitation from T8 up to T10

    It is better than the static battering matches of 5 BB each side. Getting deleted by AP salvos left and right no matter how you angle is about as "fun" as dodging torps all day. You can dodge the torps even if they are well-aimed, not so much the AP. Also DDs die quick, BB not so much. If you feel helpless in a BB, I suggest you play DD hunter cruisers like USN og RN and equip hydro. Also this:

    Have seen, approved or done this multiple times when the 12 man lemming trains get rolling and nobody is willing to fight the enemy. At least get a victory and move on since the current crop of fruits are obviously not interested in fighting any battle.

    Not ignoring tier difference here, I'm saying it has negligible impact on gameplay. Kidd has much worse rudder shift than Benson, significantly worse turning circle and is compensated with a bit more aa and hp, the aa being unlikely even with DF to shoot more planes down ( 20 dps - plane hp is measured around what, 500?) Aa powercreep on DDs is unfortunately needed, untill a rework (or removal) of CVs. Anything else cannot be striked without punitive losses. That said a general boost to DD aa to prevent permaspotting instead of the buffing DF would make more sense.

    KIDD is a fletcher class with normal fletcher aa. Sure having 5 more longrange dps compared to benson is an advantage - on paper. That was not the point - point is, KIDDS aa is not anything special.

    KIDD has exactly the same long range base AA dps as Fletcher. Dont see what the hype is about, Fletcher can do exactly the same to planes if specced the same way, but you know, torps? The actual trade is torps for repair. Period. Looks like the answer may be DW TB if hints in the lastest Q&A in "news from..." is to be believed.

    Trust me, 90% of dds tend to wander into radar range of Missouri. Something to do with most having 10 km torp range at max and abysmal chance of actually landing a hit from that range, then combine it with impatience. It takes a loooong time to sail the perimiter of 9,45 km. Also, tell maybe to the random khabarovsks and gearing eating 10k volleys at 10-15 km range because AP pens working as intended (TM)

    Those are the common concerns. 1) is indeed true 2) Blys isnt really a capping boat, so the concealment problem isnt that big of a deal if you play her to her strengths. 3) False; The two are very evenly matched overall, but they prey on very different enemies. - Leningrad is good for the Khaba style of gameplay dodging heavy shells, but in a dd vs dd fight it gets shot to pieces by the Blys. - Blys is built for kiting and killing dds and is the best T7 dd at that. It relies on smoke to fight heavier ships these days. Before the stealthfire nerf, Blys was by far superior to Leningrad since it was also better at burning BBs and CAs from comlete immunity (Back then it burned down full hp BBs without them ever seeing or hitting it once).

    Missouri is a very fun ship for me in addition to printing $$$. Tirpitz dont take citadels but can take the same dmg in regular pens, suffers from T8 MM which atm is horrible against T10 and dont earn the same. No way I can recommend Tirpitz. Also this
  12. Not thick at all; It's me oversimplifying. You can transfer the captain, no problem, but you will need to respec him since the Lo Yang and Anshan use totally different captain perks. So what I should have said, is that you cant use the same captain without paying for a respec.

    That used to be my opinion too...but running it for 50 games, almost every game it will give additional information too. It does not impact survival so much, but it certainly impacts dmg done and hp lost, saves one from dangerous situations like overextending without knowing you do. It's a stupidly powerful skill imo. When you push a cap at the start and rpf points to another cap (enemy team lemmingtrains) When you see a forming red lemmingtrain but rpf points at the current cap When you see a spotted dd at 7 km and rpf points somewhere else When you sail around an island with a known but unspotted ship, use rpf to track its movement. When you block a cap but have not spotted a dd and torps are off cd or....when you torp a smokescreen

    Gearing - Skills and upgrades

    Could be a random jinxed ship as your stats arent that bad, but it could also be adapting to the Gearing from previous dds. From your stats comparing gearing to fletcher: Overall KDA and survival is worse and dmg is a bit better. For reference my survival rate is around 50% doing the same or slightly more dmg in both ships while yours is around 30% in the gearing and 40% in the fletcher. Solo stats and ranked stats are a bit on the worse side although your avg winrate is better than mine :) From the stats I would say you die a bit more often in the Gearing and contribute less before you die. Your captain perks are skewed in favor of gunfights, so do you per-chance have playstyle of going to fight other dds early in the game to help your division get a cap? The gearing has worse maneuverability compared to the fletcher, also it takes more dmg because its so fat (ap more likely to do pen dmg). Lastly it has worse concealment. Because of this, playing it like a fletcher likely means the ship takes more dmg faster, eg: overextending is easier and gets punished harder. Strengths of the gearing is: long range torps (you dont have to enter detection range of other dds at launch) and improved gunpower (you can bury any dd under sheer DPM) means the gearing (as I see it) lends itself to a generally cautious and calculating playstyle: early game relying on torps, preserving hp and generally just blocking caps untill threats have been accounted for. Having accounted for all threats means you are more free to cap or look for positions of advantage where you can ambush red dds without taking incoming fire from a ton of enemy ships.
  15. Also it means that an while Lo Yang and Anshan are both Pan asian dds, they cant use the same captain.
  16. Lo Yang with its stupidly overpowered Hydro is clearly the best of the crop atm. Hydro range almost equals concealment range which absolutely murders other dds (except german). Anshan, Blys, Leningrad are all Russian style dd with great guns and slower turret rotation speed. Using the captain perk Expert marksman compensates nicely. They are mid-range brawlers more than knife-fighters (usn dds) due to slightly worse maneuverability and reload (but have much improved shell speed compared to USN knife-fighters, Lo Yang included)

    Been wondering myself what people run on her. Recently bought the permanent camo (my first TX perm camo) because USN dds were and are my favorite line. Currently a 14 point captain in my gearing: 1: Priority target 2: Last stand 3: Superintendant (might be worth dropping now, but I love lighting BBs up after hitting torps so still very good) 4: CE and RPF Next skills: Randoms: prolly AR and Torp reload - if playing CW or ranked: SE. - I'm curious why none of you run RPF on her. Knowing which direction will likely get you detected is such a huge plus - positioning, preemptive torps etc. Also great for chasing down dds. - Been in two minds whether to run full gun dpm or full torp reload. Gearing imo has the best torp range in the game with a terrible reload. Since most dd engagements are decided by the BrainlessBoats AP volleys I've decided on torps.

    RADAR

    The tl;dr is play more conservatively untill you know where all radar ships are. Just like you probably play safe untill you know where the other DD are. The higher the tier the faster you get blown up. T8-T10 BB volleys regularly hit for 5-8k on a dd in radar range so getting spotted can be quite deadly. Of couse there are lots of ways to play around radar, like staying on the edge of the range so you can quickly leave, or keeping a solid island between you and the enemy main fleet when you push up :) Check the enemy line-up at the start. You will soon encounter hydro-equipped dds aswell, so here's a list of things to look out for in the enemy lineup: - BB: Missouri, Hydro equipped BB (germans T8+) can and will push your smoke - CA: T8+ USN, T8+ Russians, Belfast, Atlanta, Indianapolis, T8+ RN cruisers (can mount radar, usually dont) - DD: Black, German dds - CV (obviously)

    Think i read they changed shell speed in 6.13 - it was a buff though. CBA to find the patch note, but you can look through it. I hate my Kirov too, it has been collecting dust in my port for over a year

    Could be pulling a Kamikaze R / Fujin stunt - DM aa too OP, so lets make a premium DM before we nerf the original into oblivion.... Tying their stats to the original as "copy" ships (not premiums with premium rewards) would make sense for CW, alternatively make them only usable in CW. Unfortunately the track record of WGs balance vodka department so far gives me a sinking feeling in my tummy. Someting like a Black 2.0 DM with hydro, DF and radar in different slots and gearing torpedoes and likely a smaller citdadel, available only as a clan reward ship

  22. Crazy how this scenario was even harder to solo-carry than Newport Naval station, back when it was T9 and T7 ships before the nerfs. And with a competent team it is a breeze =)

    Halloween salt

    Not sure what bug you had, but it is definitely killable as I did it myself several times tonight, one time before 2nd tower even went down. Cruiser can solo it. But yeah, WG really dont offer much in the way of advice on what to do!
