Did most Mino LM grind with smoke, but also a good deal of radar (especially Ranked where smoke is useless). Forlorn sailor really summarized everything except one or two points related to playing Mino with extreme aggression. Minotaur with radar has the tools to always dictate the terms of the engagements - best used to pick favorable 1v1s. After the early game, depending on how the game develops, you can sometimes sneak into incredibly aggressive positions other ships with worse concealment cant reach unspotted, then ambush broadsiding cruisers or yoloing BB with torps, outturning their turrets. Timing is everything as you want islands blocking the guns of other enemy ships as you make the play. Also, master angling with minotaur vs other >200 mm cruisers (henri & supercruisers) and you can farm incredible salt as you bounce Balancegrad AP and farm Henris to death while denying the bow citadels. Final playstyle I didnt yet test (since LM was done) is RangeMod Minotaur, as according to some guy i met in Ranked, Mino can do very high damage with long range plunging fire on BBs. Radar mino is very viable in top Ranked and CB For instance: In ranked, if Radar mino meet smoke Mino on one flank, tell me, which consumable nullifies the other completely? I remember some WG directive where you had to farm "unlikely" stuff with various ship types - dreadnoughts in non-BBs, torp hits in non-DDs and so forth....one of them was farm 2 million potential in RN cruisers. Oh boy my Fiji had a glorious day, farming over 2 million and still at >50% hp when game ended. Wouldn't care to try in mino with the massive citadel though

There is absolutely no reason not to get speedboost mod on the Henri. I never used anything else. I've played my Henri 3 ways 1) Double rudder shift mods - my favorite for actively dodging fire (also provides lots faster ruddershift repair time, i think around 15s tops) 2) Legendary mod Henri - trades rudder shift for LM, its a 20+ km range high dpm troll-build for random battles (spotted from 15+ km, slow rudder shift so has to play respectfully and far back) 3) Full concealment build - my least favorite. Full concealment isnt very impressive and Henri wants to be shooting all the time anyway, so this is just a bad build imo.

Ways to remove/reduce tier X ships in the MM 1) Alternative game modes (eg: arms race was quite popular - make it a tier X only alternate gamemode) 2) Various missions etc that cannot be completed in tier X ships (personally i find those annoying, but they should work) 3) Make tier X economy (specifically) more punishing - dont punish tier IX grinders. 4) accept full Tier X games will be common.

4. mismatched ship class line ups (removed from MM) - missing this a lot. Having same amount of every class in every game is really boring 5. mismatched CV line ups (removed from MM) - probably a good thing although being top tier CV vs bottom tier CV was awesome 6. old-style maps (see original Islands of Ice) without corridors. Vanilla game used to be much more mobile, even at tier X. also: more and more long-range accurate ships + more ways to spot ships --> more campy meta -> boring

I earned so much captain XP (0,5 mio) and credits (40-50 mio) in Twilight farming the camos. Saving transsylvania and Sunray were just excercises in frustration (why the F are often 2-3 of teammates borderhugging glue-sniffer???) In twilight you can farm an easy ~1k Filth in a BB from "your own" bots and exit the portal most games in 7 minutes - portal opens late some games, best bet is bullying your way out with Crocosaur as it can 1v1 any BB (ram) and ignore pretty much anything else (remember to get Last Stand and Fire prevention along with JoaT for cooldown reduction. If divisioning, 2+ ships (crocosaur, preferably) can farm Rasputin every game for tons of XP and credits, as well as filth. Personally i loved it both solo and divisioning. I especially loved blasting those portal camping <45% WR geniouses to pieces, but in general i was having a blast PvPing and brawling with BBs (impossible in Randoms). Maybe because i almost never, play BBs otherwise.

Players: *complains about tier VIII MM for 2+ years* WG: finally improves tier VIII MM marginally Also WG: Improves the MM further by making everything worse than it was in the first place. Mathematically, there are a lot more tier X than tier VIII ships in WoWs. It follows that the MM will have to prioritize 1) either this new MM system, whatever it may be (means T8 forced top tier matches get down prioritized) 2) forced top tier matches regularly (for all tiers), meaning the new MM system must be down prioritized. You have to wonder which choice they will make? (using past history of applying bigger sledge hammers untill something breaks) Best case for tier 8, it means "full" tier X matches only - which will be boring AF for everyone. Game already lacks variety.

Comparison of "Snowflakes 2018" to upcoming "Snowflakes 2019" ...
GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
PC is tier X and will create a Benham situation at tier X. If PC is trash anyway it will not matter, but if it is viable for competitive then clans will be forced to grind it or miss out entirely for around 6 months. In that situation, a steel wall is better as it will at least be available.... -
Comparison of "Snowflakes 2018" to upcoming "Snowflakes 2019" ...

With recent WG lootbox content, we gonna be lucky if New Year containers drop more than 1 new year camo and maybe a dragon flag per tier X ship (and a 0,0000000001 0% chance of a tier 6 ship). Rather guaranteed coal or steel instead of more lootboxes. As to Directives and PC: Extrapolating from recent events, it'll be worse than Benham and the Legendary captains. No realistic chance of finishing that directive hamster wheel, so f*** Puerto Rico. No reason to be happy with "WG giving free stuff" anymore if it is completely out of reach for the majority of players anyway. Better to lower the rewards and requirements. Thanks WG for confirming that quitting your increasingly grindy game was the right decision. Best of luck and fun to all of you. -
Isnt WoWs BB overpopulation an accepted fact by anyone not taking money from WG? Clearly my Smolensk need MOAR buffs

I see, ty. one day rentals... spreadsheet will show Saipan is complete and utter garbage

Title says midway and text says Kaga. Which is it?

Republique has 30 mm overmatch which helps against many cruisers (deck plating). It has better dispersion, better shell speed- just better guns. It also burns like a crisp since it only has 32 mm armor all over. Can't be citadelled by CVs AP bombs. -> more of a glass cannon.

Will Benham be available to the playerbase?

Benham is neither. Besides, there is a difference? -
Will Benham be available to the playerbase?

10,5 km torpedoes. Very important detail. Torp soup Shima had 20 km. Also, Kamikaze can push out almost as many torpedoes at tier V. Since DDs have from ~5,5 km and up concealment, those 10,5 km fish are completely useless for torpedoing anything screened by another DD (need at least 11 km range). If you insist on pushing without CV, DD or radar cover as in the Flamu game, you misplayed massively and deserve to sink. Benham guns are so bad, just about any DD can hunt and 1v1 it. If you think Benham is OP, my Kitakaze would like to say hi! -
Excessive citadel damage for cruiser the cause of bad game dynamic?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
If you want to deal with the static meta: - Reduce range on all ships by 10 km - remove CVs - Map pool change to: Ocean 1, ocean 2, ocean 3 and ocean 4. -
High School Fleet back in the Shop
GulvkluderGuld replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
Need AFT? I'm doing just fine without. Having short range has its own advantages (easier to go instantly invisible after killing another DD). Harekaze is much more of a hybrid DD with low hp, good concealment, double the torpedoes and only 3/4 the guns of the Aki sisters. -
Will Benham be available to the playerbase?
GulvkluderGuld replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Since WoWs is formally still pay to win free to play, every addition should eventually be made available to all players. WG is only now introducing Kutznetsov and Benham was added 1-2 patches later, my guess is you will have to wait a few more patches for it. As a benham owner I'm rather underwhelmed by this ship. Especially with Kitataze in port. Its no good for ranked (guns are terrible) and with torpedo primary weapons follows a reliance on enemy mistakes. What with camping and CVs reigning supreme in randoms you need multiple ship classes to mess up before Benham is any use. -
Poll: Do you have Russian/Soviet Legendary Commander "Nikolay Kuznetsov"? If not will you get him for Coal (175K)?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Same price as a T9/T10 ship with 25% coal discount coupon (~240.000*0,75 = 180.000) Basically the question is: Smolensk or Legendary Captain? -
solo, around 40-50 games each

"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
GulvkluderGuld replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
I already presented my general opinion on why the button should stay. The discussion above was on the sub-topic of if, hypothecially WG removed it, then how will WG is able to distingiush deliberate (malicious) crashes from legitimate reason. My opinion is 1) its not worth the effort to try as WG and 2) better to simply punish the miscreants who use it wrong and give them due notice and 3) if forcing people to stay in a battle untill dead while tempting, isn't going to work anyway, so back to 1 and 2. Also going pink feels unfair if it keeps happening through not fault of your own (eg client bugs) and it can matter significantly too. It can lead to quick judgement and blame by teammates, affect their attitude towards you and even lose games because teammates will not cooperate with a pinky. If WG truly want to deal with this sort of behaviour, they should look to the punishment system of games like League of Legends. Then again, if WG wanted to improve their game, they could introduce skill based MM also used in such games. But we all know what WG care about, dont we? -
"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
GulvkluderGuld replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
Ah, now i'm with you. I forgot about the Beach-yourself pilot. Only using it with CVs because it is forced, so it just never occured to me as an option in other situations. That isnt very friendly either and that attitude would alienate a lot players. On my previous PC, WoWs would randomly crash and take Windows with it every 6-7 games or so, the only solution being to pull the plug and restart on and oldstyle 7200 rpm harddrive (rebooting would take a few minutes). Since I had updated drivers and played lots of other games with heavier graphics requirements, no problems, then from my perspective, the problem was a bug with the WoWs client. Support was it's usual (un)helpful self asking me to wait for next patch and report back. Sometimes WoWs would manage to put me back in the game, other times, nope. Should I stop playing Random battles just because WG can't fix their crap? I did stop playing Ranked, but i dont regard random battles as "real" competitive. I maintained a > 50% WR even with the crashes, so compared to some of the geniuses out there, I were no detriment to my teams in general (although the players in the specific games where my client crashed might have a different opinion, it was not statistically significant) -

afaik the ship stops moving if a player leaves the game. -
"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
GulvkluderGuld replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
First the game is imperfect at putting you back in the game. Second if you force players to stay in battle, they can just suicide or do even more toxic stuff (block teammates, spam pings, toxic chat). And toxic chat in addition to being a player down is even bigger predictor of losing. So if those geniuses want to leave, please let them. RNG will pit them in the red team just as often as the green. And WG will know they used the button and they'll turn pink. -
"Back to port" button - why does it exist?
GulvkluderGuld replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
Np. I tried it for a short time just for the experience, but it was a rather cumbersome to deal with. Banning such mods should probably be tried before removing the button - if it is possible. Since stats are puclic unless specifically made private, it probably isn't.
