(IFHE) for Tiers VIII-X. Second stage of the test
GulvkluderGuld replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
WG: Players are too dumb to understand radar using line-of-sight, so it must be able to look through anything. Also WG: Tests complicated rework of IFHE where HE shell pen and armor values depends not only on tier but also cruiser class and gets a side kick of forcing changes to armor of other classes. Before impact on other classes even is considered. Sounds like disaster to me. Also: 30 mm overmatch becoming important --> further nerfs to Montana and GK (406 mm / 420 mm) while basically every other real tier X BB laughs? Are those two being relegated to tier 9,5 along with all other tier 9 and below BBs save Musashi? -
Are you confusing Ranked with Ranked Sprint? Divisions was never allowed in Ranked, but ranked sprint is shorter, easier with lesser rewards and allows divs.

Ranked Season 14: Battle of the Smolensks
GulvkluderGuld replied to hamed_pour's topic in General Discussion
When Soviet Bias isn't enough, it's time to switch to GOD MODE Yeah raised citadel Conq is super vulnerable to AP DB, similar to GK. -
Implacable - are the stock torpedo bombers better?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
I didnt write it down, just times flying from my stationary Haku to bomb the same target without and with boost (was actually testing if you can citpen raised citadel Conqueor and getting lots of triple cits). Nothing fancy. Using above teqnique was very similar to full boost but the map wasn't big enough to test the effect on distances where boost would run out. Feel free to test it though- it's very relevant for RN CV. -
Implacable - are the stock torpedo bombers better?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
I can't remembee what the change they did to boost was, but it wasn't this. It still works just fine for me on TB and DB (not RF obviously). Timed it in training room a couple days ago. -
Implacable - are the stock torpedo bombers better?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
I posted the same question back when i grinded my Implacable using the stock torpedoes. Basically it is a slight trade-off - in my opinion a down-grade - and you might aswell save the XP and not bother upgrading. The cruise speed isn't the interesting number since you never spend any time going at anything less than full boost or about 5 knots less (hit boost button every 1 s instead of holding it down and you have infinite boost - works on all CVs) -
Smolensk is weak. only 51% ranked win rate. buff pls.

RANKED SEASONS T10, most suitable ships in the current meta
GulvkluderGuld replied to AlphaBaboon's topic in General Discussion
Best DD, CA/CL, BB or CV: Smolensk. Or play what you are comfortable with. If you are nervous or feeling pressure, sticking with comfort ships while you get used to the meta can be good :) -

Ranked Season 14: Battle of the Smolensks
GulvkluderGuld replied to hamed_pour's topic in General Discussion
Smolensk with Nikolai Kutznetsov captain on? I'll take myself to Gulag now -
Thanks. It ends 23/12 afaik. One week should be enough, especially towards the end of the season where it gets easier. I want to break < 100 games to rank out
-
Not shortening, nor slingshotting. Wtf is that DBs position, there is nothing there to strike....has to be intentional
-
First day of Ranked....I'm surprised the forum stayed clean of rant threads this long Can't wait to join the saltmine with my Haku (but unfortunately cant play for another couple weeks) Accidentially close to the CV? - Maybe squad-shortening gone wrong?

The silent backstabbers/portal campers were usually DDs. Very poor, low WR DDs that you could ignore and even sink sometimes on the way out. Dont know why the class attracts that kind of scum in Twilight, but I'm sad you had bad experiences with them. I enjoyed the PvP and sending the little buggers to the bottom in my BBs (be sure to grab Last Stand so the torps dont keep breaking the engines - the only way the DDs can win). As to the triple croc problems, it's down to players being unable to break the habit of moving clockwise. 1/3 of the times crocs spawn in bottom right side and have no other way to Rasputin than going counter-clockwise through that spot where north team usually go to sink the croc + 200. I usually warned people in chat to go counterclockwise when we spawned there, but it never worked (and since DDs in our experience were shoot-on-sight targets - see above - that usually meant PvP) Agree very much. Also I'd like WG to make all ships able to carry the same amount of filth. I really would have liked to try out DDs but didnt, since they couldn't carry enough filth.

I've seen more cooperation and nice behaviour in 10 Twilight battles than a full 100 random battles. It's frankly amazing and i loved the game mode. Unfortunately the niceties break down once you add divsions to the mix, since there isn't enough filth for everyone if you want to be efficient with time (most efficient is 3 man croco div farming rasp every game). My mate had a message on ctrl+v he posted at the start of our games, warning the other teams to stand clear and leave rasputin to us or prepare for some PvP. We got 3k filth every game, which saved us more than 40 games compared to the scenario where "everybody wins" and only 1700 filth is collected. I'd prefer to be chivalrous, but 40 games is a lot of time. And it didnt have to be that way if WG would increase the amount of filth in the game... Also we did face other teams who ganged up on us, but they never succeded in getting anybody but themselves sunk. That always made me sad for them, but such is the power of triple croco...And we met enough other triple croco divisions along the way with similar a strategy for me to feel bad for the solo players out there. Even though it is quite easy for them to get 850-1200 filth in ~7 minutes and leave, they need to play more than twice as many games to get the same farm as my division.

Suggestion: Show the Maximum Amount of Aircraft on the Carriers
GulvkluderGuld replied to ColaholicA's topic in General Discussion
1. Good idea, and it could be useful to know if taking a 5% increased regen module is actually worth it. However, there are far more important CV related issues to fix like TB heal and Adrenaline Rush being basically useless 2. Regarding other players: You're probably a nice fellow, but you must be new here. Dont be rude to our salty surface peasants esteemed BB players by using something as crude as numbers to prove their excuses wrong. CVs have unlimited planes. Period. Much healthier for their simple brains to cling to that illusion while CV players savour their endless tears like the true Master Race- 19 replies

crushing down the numbers, Halloween season
GulvkluderGuld replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
Ok take care man! With clanmates playing 3 Croco, Rasputin is a breeze, and the extra filth means more base XP too. My clanmates and I had a blast warning off other players in chat and sinking any offenders on the way to Rasputin. We enjoyed the variety with a bit of PvP too...and nobody wants to pick a fight with triple crocos :) -
crushing down the numbers, Halloween season
GulvkluderGuld replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
Maybe I missed it, but what on earth was the point of playing so many battles and grinding yourself down? 323 battles ....Take a break? Filth for camos can be collected in 60-100 battles with good 3 man BB division. Unless done in divisions, the old halloween scenarios are an excercise in frustration with the usual 2-3 gluesniffers each game. -
Just make the map border an island beach and be done with it. Current system is still not punishing kiting ships very hard, and if it makes any difference for outnumbered ships fleeing the red horde, it just shows the current system is still broken. Or Shimas can warp to the the camping enemy BBs and "encourage" them to play the game Now take yourself to Gulag for threatening the Master Race!

What the error in Jingles bonuscode(s) yesterday painfully showed
GulvkluderGuld replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Both rewards and grind requirements have gone up since 1-2 last years. Cant believe i'm actually sort of defending WG here...During the first two years of vanilla WoWs, the amount of free premium time given out were effectively nil (first time operation wins were the first way it was introduced outside once in a year event like birthdays). There were absolutely no way to collect doubloons before Ranked started. And ship rewards were more rare and required almost as much grinding (Fujin lottery). These days you can earn a Tier X just by playing really says it all. Of course I massively disagree with the increasing grindfeat this game has turned into and have actually quit a couple weeks back....so I'm not really condoning the direction the game has taken. -
Citadel hits with AP dive bombers
GulvkluderGuld replied to Mercy_Main's topic in General Discussion
1. AP DBs are hard to master, because they are the CVs strongest tool. You want to drop down the length of the ship by approaching the bow or stern of the target (opposite of TBs). It took me dozens of games to learn consistency. 2. Try them out in a training room vs stationary targets first, then coop vs targets moving in a straight line (use same tier german BBs or CLs for target practice since you should definitely be able to citadel those). 3. DDs dont have citadels, so the best you can get are overpens. You can citadel all cruisers and most BBs, but some (usually higher tier) BBs have enough plating on the deck or citadel roof to be impenetraple (Kremlin cannot be citadeled by Shokaku, but Hakuruy citadels it all day). You can find the pen values on google (or helpful forumite) and compare them to deck armor in the WoWs armor viewer. Also pre-nerf Conquerer was completely immune to citadels. 4. Some targets (Republique) have a very narrow citadel and citadels are rare and requires you to drop exactly in the middle of the ship. Height has no impact on armor penetration, but it does affect the bombs the angle of attack. The bombs will land where you place the target indicator, but the drop time untill hit is different depending on height. Thus you have to factor in the relative speed of the target and planes, so you will have to place the target marker ahead of the target, and more so if attacking from the bow. See above. Drop too late (after the plane straighten out) and bombs will bounce. This is different from using HE bombs which can still penetrate regardless of angle. The more vertikal the better with AP bombs, so you can drop all the way through the dive untill the planes start moving forward. When you should drop depends on your aim ( = hit the center of the target) AP bombs can be inconsistent, sort of like BB guns. Sometimes RNG hates you and only yields overpens, butmost times 1 citadel, rarely 2-3 citadels per drop. TL;DR Generally with AP bombs, you need to focus on hitting the middle of the ship and that depends on drop time and opponent speed, so practicing different heights is not a bad idea (but height does not influence armor penetration except indirecly through the angle of attack). Differently from HE bombs you cannot drop late, because AP bombs that hit angled armor will bouce. -
If maps are small enough, maybe secondary specced Graf Zepp will go from troll to meta DDs cant hide, Cruisers and BBs get farmed by planes and secondaries will feast on the tears of other CV drivers My Akizuki might have a thing or two to say about that.... One thing is for sure: Cruiser players will be few since both Akizuki and BBs counter them (except maybe stealth Atago) Guessing we will see CVs, Vladivostok, Massa, Bismarck and a bunch of DDs (Aki, LY, Kidd, maybe the odd Fantasque & Kiev for the BANZAI types?)

Thanks for the heads up. Can CVs face other classes, or is CV mirrored matchmaking still in effect? If not....asall map size can make it harder for CVs i imagine. ....but if there are islands and they can play ring-around-the-island with whatever other ship they face?

Well It's finally here, buy a tier 10 premium! Sad sad day.
