How is everyone getting on with Puerto Rico grind?
GulvkluderGuld replied to SergeantJav77's topic in General Discussion
Will end on phase 26 after first 3 directives are done and Goritza in port. Now wondering if it will be worth to do directive 4 to reach phase 24 or phase 30 and throw up to 15k doubloons at the problem (since I sit on quite a few). Directive 4 doesn't look too hard and will give another booster, while daily missions should cover another booster which should be enough to reach phase 30. Do anyone know what the price will be once phase 30 is reached? Phase 3 /18 complete: price to instant complete is 35.000 doubloons Phase 4 /24 complete: price...? (Guess: 25.000 doubloons?) Phase 5 /30 complete: price...? (Guess: 15.000 doubloons?) -
Question: if there is 1 DD in the game, what do you do (after both DDs gets exploded in 2 mins)

Ranked Sprint 1vs1 should have been called Ranked Sprint "Biscmark" vs "Tirpitz"

14% WR, who would have thought that On a side note: Is this a first time the B ship outscores the regular one? -

Sprint Ranked: 1 vs 1, Skill vs OP ship
GulvkluderGuld replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the suggestion, but that is easily debunked in this case. Since nobody had a cap in that game (tirpitz didnt even make it into the cap as i yoloed him in a straight line from start with La Fanta), there is no way he could have had more points. -
Qustion for OP: How is that different from the preceding ships? How did you get through those? I'm at Trento and that thing is an insult to dumpsters just like Montegiggolo at tier 5 and Goridonthinkso on tier 7.

Sprint Ranked: 1 vs 1, Skill vs OP ship
GulvkluderGuld replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
The only thing i can imagine is he sunk me enough fractions of a second faster than i sunk him. He sinks me, he wins, I kill him afterward before the game ends. How many fractions are needed, now that I cannot say. I've seen it before in Randoms and also posts here on the forum about "schrödingers ships". -
What is going on with disconnects today - I got disconnected 3 times during the Ranked Sprint (and lost all 3 - of course)?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Getting thrown out of matches several times again today....including being thrown out of port (not just UI hanging for 10s, actually getting dc'ed). I'd put it down to playing on WiFi, but I've never been DC'ed from port before. Which log file should i check? -
Season 10 Ranked Sprint, how fast did you rank out?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Bortasqu's topic in General Discussion
Tried a few different ships including Saipan (my only tier 8 CV) and found Saipan was trash in CV vs CV (so I ended them in draws from ramming). Then settled on La Fantasque, actually winning 3/7 matches vs CV (two by torping the CV, 1 by cap and running away). lost 11 of which 2 were due to disconnects, 4 to CVs. Charles Martel were my nemesis. Despite using island cover, citadelling the bugger as he turned away, they just MBRBed me to death. Surprisingly I lost to a Tirpitz (we torped each other and both had 1 kill, but he won) and one to a Kagero (reload mod ambush - rpf torps everywhere) as well as a few more due to my own mistakes. -
Ranked sprint - "any non-cv" vs CV
GulvkluderGuld replied to Grimmblut's topic in General Discussion
So bailout refers to hitting F to recall the remaining planes? Thanks, I had no idea! I guess abusing immunity period works best for RN and possibly USN. IJN are too damn squishy to make 2nd strike against most non-DD targets, except for for TBs. Anyhow, this isn't supposed to hijack the thread! -
Ranked sprint - "any non-cv" vs CV
GulvkluderGuld replied to Grimmblut's topic in General Discussion
Do you know if there is a (good) guide somewhere on all those terms? I've gotten rusty from leaving CVs in 8.3. I get the first 4 and i think i know what island bailout is (exit over island after bombing ship next to one to cut off AA - basically speciaized situation of #2?) What is accel bailout? And abusing immunity period to re-engage? (the same target? or fly a straight line and hit several ships sequentially?) -

Was experimenting with Yoloing on La Fanta and just had this gem. Apperently Draws can only be achieved by ramming now? -
Good points. With RTS the noobs CV used to get 2 chances to f*ck up before being deplaned. Most surface ships got that much too (not tier X though, and tier X CVs were in a whacky spot) I want to answer the skillgap between noobs and unicorns in CVs have been closed with reworked CVs, because spotting cannot be denied - but i know @El2azer and other CVs will say stats prove otherwise. Also my super special CV player here probably will probably remain blissfully unaware of the benefits of spotting, so maybe it's true. I guess CVs being deplaned but forced to stay in the match is stupid, compared to surface ships getting sent back to port to start a new game. ' Then REEwork came and WG decided this was a mechanic that had to go, to make CVs more attractive. Just a guess you know. Problem is, CVs cannot be balanced. They made surface ships obsolete (except as support vessels) in WW2 just as much as in WoWs.

Frankly I'm even more astonished he actually hit me - considering his other antics.

Which is all well and good (andt true), but excel shiiiit also has to balance CV for players like this. Didnt use fighters at all, tried to AP bomb my DD for the longest time and seemed drunk at the controls for he went all the way to bottom left corner after spotting me, before coming back around 1 min later Match took 4 mins 16 secs (from bottom mid to torping him in upper left corner).

In praise of the latest "Ranked Sprint" - it is fast paced adrenaline filled fun most of the time!

Keep getting cruisers and a few DDs no matter what i play, but I guess you're right. Only met BB and CV while playing the same class. -
Sprint Ranked: 1 vs 1, Skill vs OP ship
GulvkluderGuld replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Looks like he was using AP divebombers which make sense. RFs take forever to kill a cruiser, especially one with heal. I tried my Saipan (my only tier 8 as I sold the silver CVs) but i just cant make USN TBs and even DBs work for me, especially the TB needs you to prepare aiming from the other side of the map. Back to Fantasque despite winning / drawing (vs CV) 5-6 matches. Need the bXP for the Goritza directives. -
I need help with picking battleship line
GulvkluderGuld replied to Nexio_'s topic in General Discussion
Hated Fuso: throw enough crap at the wall and enough will stick - preferably from not too far away. Also has very good HE dpm for bow in BBs. Loved Nagato: Pin-point accuracy on just those 8 guns. Has enough range to not feel powercrept too hard Hated Amagi: Guns suffer from Fuso syndrome, only on tier 8. Teaches how spoiled Nagato made you. Izumo: save fXP for the hull upgrade and maybe the range. Without those, it is nigh unplayable due to long range HE-spam. Yamato: Love it. USN line: It really teaches positioning, because if you misposition one of those tier 5-7 suckers, you die horribly. New York: Calling it a dumpster is an insult to dumpsters. New Mex: Basically Murican Fuso with worse HE and better armor. Trolorado: Best USN guns you will ever have, on the worst platform (since everyone else get fast BBs on tier 7) NC and beyond: Love Note upcoming IFHE rework will likely give all CAs/CLs 30 mm armor/deck plating - basically turning Montana and Grosser Kurfurst into the worst tier X BBs in the game. (since they and only they lack 30 mm overmatch) -
Both "Resources" and "Doubloons" coupon restart tomorrow - did you get any ships with them?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Mostly for competitive.Especially GZ for the rank season. But I'm 200 doubloons short atm, and with the direction Wows is taking in 2019 including the PC debacle i'm not spending actual money on WG anymore. Getting 2 tier X camos seems a better bargain for me, but I already have permacamo for most of the DDs and cruisers I play. BBs don't interest me, but CVs do. I have Ohio, NC, Bismarck and tirpitz so Masse doesn't really interest me. -

GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Got 10k doubs sitting around and plenty of ships in armory for doubs, but not really interested in any of them. Maybe Cossack, Massa or GZ, but I mostly play tier X and tier IX. Previous ressource coupon: Somers Previous doubloon coupon: nothing New Ressource coupon: likely Bourgogne or Thunderer New Doubloon coupon: nothing -
2. You argued SL "for the most part" is forced to play as a long range HE spammer because of poor concealment. This is literally how the ship is designed, so it made no sense to me. Rudder shift module is also more useful if CV is in the game and if rudder breaks, which is basically every game. 3. As for the rest, rudder shift allows enough response time at 11-13 km to turn quite a bit -active dodging is suprisingly effective at mid-range. If you have to get closer for some reason, rudder shift will help all the way in, not just for 1,5 km where you can avoid getting shot. Sure it is a trade off for early game deployment, but not enough to prevent SL from reaching a useful position. DM: has reload of 5,5s, SL can reach rudder shift of 4,9. You can max rudder and back to mid inside the time DM reloads. Not talking yoloing it very obviously from 15 km away, but if you can force him back behind the island from range and use islands to get to 5 km...absolutely possible to yolo that DM (done it many many times in Henri) Stalingrad: you know exactly what angle stalingrad can pen, so bait his shot without turning that much. I'm talking 2-3 km range here, no time for active dodging. Sure it's safer to farm from range, but Stalin will simple reverse behind the island and heal, so it only works if you have all day available to burn it down. 4. Its relevant because the stats were worse than your general stats. That made me suspect French CAs was one of your first lines and I wanted to know Anyhow average damage and kills do look good - thus I congratulated you! Thus, they are different builds, and I maintain it provides more flexibility to play aggressively and save DCP when the rudder inevitably breaks. Also it is tons of fun!
-
First let me make clear I tested this for random battles and only thoroughly tested the differnces on Henri IV. For CB, where play is more organized and you almost never brawl, stealth is better. 1. There is a cost, and the BB argument is basically the biggest downside to this build. 2. Pointless self-fulfilling argument as 10% stealth makes no difference. 3. At anything below 11,7 km range, stealth is useless and rudder shift extremely strong. From there to 13,4, both are useful, but stealth probably most. Beyond 13,4 rudder shift is superior but diminishing returns apply. Simple as that. DM/Stalin: Sure you shouldn't, but if time is critical and you do not have a choice, rudder shift gives you the best options. Also nothing is more satisfying than killing those campers: Baiting AP by turning out a little, then after he shot, turn that tiny bit more to get torps off and turn back - before he can reload. Good luck doing that with 9s rudder shift. 4: Nice stats! - small sample size (and all your other french cruisers stats have indeed suffered greatly, including CM)
-
Examined the armor scheme and you're right. I don't see any difference between SL and CM. With tier 8 MM putting tier 8 vs tier 10 around 60% of games, "way fewer" is probably too strong. Checked my personal stats and while the difference is very obvious, it does not translate to general stats --> probably a statistical anomaly. As to rudder shift module 3, it provides a different and in my opinion superior playstyle to concealment. Sure 9s is perfectly serviceable, but why limit yourself to one playstyle to make the bad concealment just mediocre? - french CAs are about shooting all the time, so why waste points on concealment when spotted anyway? - they tend to lose rudder - and forced to burn DCP. With the mod, repair time is a few seconds instead of a full minute. No need to burn DCP. It has literally saved my life many times. - Close range brawling: 4,9s vs 8-9s rudder shift is a massive difference. French CAs have amazing torpedo angles and this build lets you take full advantage of that (especially good at punishing those pesky Stalingrads and DM bowtankers).
-
Something was clearly different between them. Cant say what and I don't have the client here, it might be plunging fire vulnerability from citadel roof or slightly raised or extended citadel. Henri is still one of the best cruisers in the game. Think CM with heal and multiple playstyles (legendary mod long-range better dpm, stealth, or double rudder shift mod) Also, have you tried double rudder shift modules? from what I remember SL is rather clumsy. Recommend to use rudder shift mod 1 in slot 3 and mod 2 in slot 5.
