    Will Benham be available to the playerbase?

    So far WG has made ships exclusive for a limited period of time (GZ for instance) and that is what you pay for. Not making them available again runs into problems with the free to play model, as all content must theoretically be obtainable without spending money. WG is already on very thin ice because of the PR dumpster fire. If they start selling OP ships and captains through exclusive events that can only be completed by spending doubloons or €€€ (like PC) and dont make them available down the road (6-12 months later), it will pose a serious question to the game model. Up until PR (where the greed was too obvious to defend), WG has been very careful to maintain that illusion. Not doing so could cause a large amountof disgruntled players to leave. I think WG would be best served by making the ships available at a later date (but ofc making exceptions for a few truly "naughty" ships wouldn't surprise anyone). I dont have access to the "weighted impact" calculations they do, so must make do with WoWsnumbers and maplesyrup.

    Trust and WG dont belong in the same sentence without a negation I trust that Benham has not yet entered the Hall of Naughty lootbox ships untill there is official information to the contrary. I can also certify that it is a lot of fun compared to other US DDs, so I'm sure WG can find some way to squeeze more profit from it Do note: Going by WoWs numbers there is nothing to indicate the ship is broken - it sits middle of the pack for all players, and #2 well after Mogador for the Unicorns. Spreadshiiit says it is fine.

    Completed phase 5 and decided to throw 10€ at the instant completion cost in addition to the 12k free doubloons i already had from ranked and crates. Now on to mine some salt in random battles.

    Whats a Good way to Play Alsace ^^

    Good playstyle advice, if the MM allows it. Alsace main guns are notoriously unreliable, having the worst sigma of all tier 9 guns of 1,6. Best way to deal with that is spam HE untill the decisive moment where you push in. The reason for secondaries is all those 100 mm mounts actually have an insane firestarting chance (more than the germans) and has no problem ripping yoloing DDs apart. It also synergizes well with spamming HE from the main guns. Since AP is unreliable, simply burn the oppenent down instead. The alternative is a normal tank build, which apart from FP isn't very useful due to being coated in 32 mm toiletpaper.

    Ever built a BB for a secondaries just to have fun? I have no idea what else that ship is good for. 1. Forget AP exist and shoot HE at anything over 10 km. Get used to the main guns missing a lot. 2. Early game if unsure how it will develop, play like KGV - backline HE spam. 3. Plays best with the lemmingtrain or as a fast flanker at 10 km ish range. You want numerical superiority so the fire spam kills the opponent relatively fast. That support allows you to push in when the moment is ripe. Also the ship is fairly good at doing driveby blaps as it doesnt take citadels easy. Secondaries to absolutely murder any DD trying to yolo (either Alsace or Repub secondaries kinda needs IFHE; but i cant remember which). 4. Take CE, FP and manual secondaries, consider throwing on secondary range module. No need for AFT since secondaries dont hit much beyond 7-8 km and primaries will still miss even with aiming module mounted. 5. Avoid the Yamasashi sisters like the plague, they are your kryptonite (unless dumb enough to get close enough to speedboost+front citadel) Also: Couldnt have put it better myself.

    Ran pingplotter on my brand new thinkpad laptop. Been having dc issues since patch day, but also around then i stopped using my old pc (only in WoWs and around peak times) I suspected DCs were due to WiFi, but pingplotter seems to paint muddy waters. I'm not very knowledgable with networking though ^^ First screen is the only DC i caught today - can someone confirm or deny my suspicion that it could indeed be WiFi? (seems packets get nowhere) Second screen is just laggy play during evening. Quite a bit packet loss, but no DC. Looks unrealted to my WiFi (loss happens downstream) is this correct?

    Initial graph clearly shows DDs are relatively more popular than other classes at low tiers and gets less and less popular at higher tiers, with the exception of tier 9 (can be explained by many strong premium DDs at this tier). Tier 3,4, 6 and 9 crosses the 20% threshold. As far as I'm aware, we were discussing the relative numbers per tier on the graph posted by Capra, not absolute numbers. This argument is misleading as it would be akin to arguing that Ford was a more popular car in 2018 than 2010 because 2,3 mio cars were sold in 2018 compared to only 1,75 mio in 2010. Since more cars were sold in 2018 than 2010, the market share in 2010 was actually 15% compared to only 13% in 2018. Thus Ford was more popular in 2010, at least going by the dictionary definition of the word popular.

    DDs being the least played class except for CV which isn't intended to be as popular as the other classes. whether those numbers are worrying or not, you must have a strange definition of the word opposite :) I find it worrying if DDs are viewed and played less in Ranked and Clan setups. I know they were completely useless in latest ranked season where CV existed. It tells me DD don't contribute as much as the other classes in organized play. That is another way of saying they are underpowered.

    ZARA - How To Play It

    Pasta cruisers are very MM dependent below tier 8 from all i have read here + my own gameplay experience. fXPing is recommended. Zara is a copy pasta Trento which is a copy pasta Montegiggolo, so basically a tier 5 ship in tier 7 MM with a few armor and hp improvements. If you are lucky MM throws a DD heavy game at you and you actually get to influence it, supporting the dds. If only 1 DD and lots of BBs, get ready to struggle insanely hard for your 40k damage, as BBs will simply use wasd.hax and laugh as your perfectly aimed sAP lands harmlessly anywhere but superstructure. Only tool is random torps, which is surprisingly effective (no doubt unexpected 12 km range for a mid-tier cruiser).

    Sure DD can stealth torp - but kill a tier X BB? That would require a BB in the open without any idea of where DD is (RPF exists) and not reacting to incoming torps. More realistic situation is a bow on BB in a narrow choke, and no DD in WoWs has the torpedopower to kill such in 20 minutes match time (since flooding nerf) unless able to Yolo. And some BBs have enough secondaries to be completely immune to yolo plays. This is my opionin: DD balance at high tiers looks the way it does because gunboats are selfsufficient and can reliably do well, while torpedoboats arn't and can't, since they rely on mistakes by the opponent. Possible fixes involve giving torpedo boats significantly better concealment so they can better deal with gunboats, improving torpedoes/flooding or something trolly like....homing torpedoes from sub test iteration 3, adding tractor beam consumable to torpedoboats (so they can pull other ships into their torpedoes) or simply put warpdrive on torpedoes. Wargaming seems to have gone with option 3 for the EU DDs

    Kinda agree with you here. No tier X DD can 1v1 any tier X BB/CA except for maybe the Harugumo. Although they had their issues, most DDs at tier X were fine and competitive before reworked CVs (with torpedo flooding nerf), Kremlin, Smolensk and Venezia came along. In randoms, there are so many ways to spot both DDs and torpedoes or mitigate their damage (starting with maps with enourmous amounts of islands) that combined with radar, it isn't even funny. Shima, YY, Gearing, Khabarovsk and Z-52 are all in desperate need of some love. Personally I would like to see the flooding duration work as before CV reeework, and simply make reworked CVs unable to cause floodings at all (they have more than enough damage potential already). Maybe a general nerf to hydro or torpedo detection range would be in order too. And ofc. Khaba is in a special place. I disagree. Torpedo armed DDs dont have the power to influence nearby ships and force the out of position similar to He spam DDs or a Cruiser or BB. It drives me insane to play them because of their impotence (on their own) in randoms. Torps are useless, because there is insane amounts of spotting (interlocking radars + hydros + CV) and instagib (Venezia, Smolensk) power available at tier X and it has reached a level, where fighting another DD is usually mutual suicide. Some of the HE spammers can do okay, especially if there is no CV, but Imo, dds genereally need more survival tools (heal?). Also from a DD perspective, Smolensk needs a nerf as do sAP of Venezia so angling will actually mitigate the damage. As for Akizuki, it was actually not easy in Ranked 1v1 because of the map design. Islands restricting view distance meant you couldn't just engage at > 10 km and trolololo dodge.

    With previous concealment it could stealth torp pretty comfortably (1,2 km envelope) with those 75 knot monsters. Think of it as a Shima with 4x3 F3 torps with shorter reload. Even just as a torp boat, it was very strong.

    Sorry OP but it does make sense. 45% winrate and <1 kill /game combined with 100k avg damage? I do have jinxed ships, but that low of a winrate / killrate as you yourself commented is not expected if those 100k were impactful damage. Take my Kitakaze with just 84k dmg but a 65% wr with 1,5 k/d. DDs get that kind of stats easily because they tend to do impactful damage (other DDs) and then get to exert pressure/damage freely once enemy DDs are down. Smolensk isn't so much OP as it is broken (like CVs) because it's nigh impossible to deal with smoked HE spammer outside radar range. Normally on DDs this deature is countered by the zone controller having poor range or poor ballistics, but smolensk has neither. It's like WG has come full circle back to the early ranked season with everybody and their mother camping smokescreens - now just outside radar range. Result: snoozefest with nothing spotted.
  18. Just chiming in with a voice of support. Been having regular disconnects in prime time for 3 weeks. Usually at least once every game, sometimes twice or even three times, but also from port view. Tbh i dont contact support since I don't have a regular pc atm (just my brand new Thinkpad laptop) so i can't verify if it's just normal toh have regular dc's when playing on WiFi. Everything else runs normally including Netflix and other online games.

    297 battles, you've still got much to learn young padawan. In real life warships would zig-zag to avoid torpedoes from DDs/subs. Suggest you do the same while playing BB and educate yourself on how you can use "priority target" so sometimes see if DDs torp you. On the other hand, if you're being targeted CV, well, you're sh*t out of luck.

    Actually it was in my Hakuruy in ranked season 12. Each team had 7 players: 1 CV and 6 DDs. After 5 minutes, only the enemy CV was left alive. When 6 DDs focus fire 1 DD, that dd go down in < 10s. Add smokes everywhere and the windows to even see a target before it smokes were close to non-existent, except for the first minutes before surface contact. High count DD games tend to be very fast and explosive, regardless of tier.

    Too many DDs means game is over before CV have time to incluence it. Learned that once in a ranked game with 6 DDs each side and 1 CV (me).
  23. Starcraft is the 7th most sold computer game of all time, in case you missed it. And Starcraft II is #20. Meanwhile World of Warships doesn't even make top 100. Niche indeed. If you go by # of registered accounts, what you say is true for both WoWs and strategy games. Both ar niche in that sense. Either way I dont see the point of your argument, unless it is related to the less cerebral level of our player base? Which is admitting defeat i guess? PvE content isn't very stressfull to your average potato, and if he can team up with a friend to do challenges that provide insignias and fat rewards - why wouldnt they try it? WG could even add tips that could be expanded if clicked on to help frustrated potatoes. My biggest issue with the topic isn't the playersbase, it is that WG dont give a sh*t.
  24. Tutorials yes. Challenges is another matter. Starcraft is a good example of a game that did it right.

Honestly the only way I see to educate players is the carrot, with hefty final rewards for completing 1v1 challenges in PvE similar to the PvP sprint season and perhaps a bit more complicated (explaining about crossfires/radars etc is one thing, making the challenge impossible without dying is a better teacher). That also keeps their efforts to fail from bothering other players.
