    I usually run zoomed out twice. And what i mean is, Khaba has plenty of time to reactively dodge a lot of the incoming fire. I've yet to see a Gearing win any extended 1v1 trade with a Khaba, but props to you if you can do it. We were discussing full torpedo specced Gearing. Also Grozo has more than 10% more hp using just 1 heal, so it's not enough. Both true, same for radar and smoke. In any 1v1 situation Daring can always bully the shima away from important things like caps so it has little reason to chase it, but if forced to persue and as long as the shima isnt simply running, Daring can still lay traps for the shima. If we have to consider full teamplay, then this is getting into the finer points of DD play and counterplay which easily could have its own thread. In my experience this isn't really a problem (and if pick cap contest battles vs shima when CV and radars exist, you are playing Daring wrong).

    Recognize a complete list And if Khaba plays kites away the moment you open fire from 6 km? Sure it might eat 1-2 ap volleys, but after that it can pummel Gearing for at least 20s or force a smoke because Gearing player needs 2 monitors to even see it. I played hundreds of gearing games and I can't hit specific parts of a Khaba reliably at 7+ km range despite otherwise decent aim. And Khaba has more hp and heals to begin with. We can argue over who wins (my money is on the Khaba if he knows which side the Gearing has to be on), but Gearing can't bully a Khaba. LM Grozovoi being a specced for guns has the same reload (3,1s) as torp specced Gearing (3s) plus heals. Grozo kites away, hits heal and comes back in to win the engagement. 1. Then we agree Gearing cannot bully a Z52? 2. typo? Its pretty even. To compensate for worse stealth and speed, Daring has Hydro, more smokes, heal and roughly the same mobility.

    Didnt actually know that reload was 9s faster on Gearing 16 km torps compared to Somers. I stand corrected. Once i started playing Benham, Somers never caught on. As for gunpower, Gearing might have have that, but Somers are narrower, more nimble and able to dodge incoming fire. Besides, which of the T10s would you bully with a full torp specced Gearing, apart from our favorite punching bag, the YY? Daring, Harugumo, Khabarovsk: Forget it Grozovoi? Get rekt. Z52? Get Hydro-rekt. Shima? Not easy, you might get kited to death and permaspotted (unless running LM, which cuts into offensive power) Kleber? Maybe if you can bait it to shoot and be spotted by teammates, then smoke and punish. Wouldn't care to try it though.

    Even if that is true, it opens up new captain builds for DDs together with TA, focusing on torpedo speed to counter that awful Torpedo Detection System. Shima F3 go from 76 knots to 85 knots Benham from 66 knots to 73 knots. Having only 6,4 km range on the Shima F3s is myopic, but even a GK running hydro will have trouble reacting to those monsters in time! Since I recently became a fan of F3 shima (never played shima befiore) I tried Benham with TA aswell for the 73 knot almost F3 experience. So far I think I prefer range, but I havn't stopped playing Benham yet If Gearing is T10 and Somers is T10,5....Does that make Benham T11 now? What can I say....It was late and I was sleepy

    1: Standard for DDs/CAs 2: Likely obsolete. Didn't test if it actually does anything, but probably better choices are available. Might be useful on DDs in competitive settings where CVs are a pain in the butt and also might be useful on PanEU DDs that isn't Blyskawica. Might. 3: Main Battery mod 2 is the new no-brainer for most cruisers and BBs below tier X. LM Yamato, LM Moskva and USN BBs has a choice of going reload mod 3 + Main battery mod 2 or LM and Aiming systems mod. Will be interesting what is better. 4: Torpedo tubes mod 1 is the new no-brainer on literally all DDs that isn't Soviet or benefit more from Main Battery Mod 2 (french dds, Blyskawica). Kamikaze with 71 knot torps, Shima with 80 knot torps, Benham with 71 knot torps. Need I say more? 5: Even more useless than TAE. Pick your poison: Smolensk or Benham. Might be viable on Kremlin since it's already pretty HE resistant and on USN secondary focused BBs if personal playstyle is to push and be spotted all the time anyway. 6: Useless since giving up concealment, although it could be used as a meme build on Belfast together with radar mod for an absurdly long tier 7 radar (30% increase). Conquerer could get an additional 4-5k hp/heal, but usually isnt able to make use of the additional healing at the 4th charge. Same goes for cruisers. Italians are likely better off with concealment. 7: Useless. Mostly a KM thing and GK LM is superior due to buffing main guns. Theoretically viable for USN secondary focused BBs like Massa, Georgia and Ohio, but the latter two probably benefit more from ther 3 mil reduced dispersion module.

    Having shifted to claiming islands as my Waifu, the Surrey performs adequately. Agreed. Surrey does much better than nightmarish Devonshire due to the spotter plane and having a natural 1 km more range. I've literally got all silver ships in the game apart from the RN CAs and I guess CAs are just worse than CLs all around. I prefer IJN CAs to RN CAs and also the French CAs (or are they CLs at lower tiers?)

    I'm very tempted to fXPing to Albermarle at least just to farm the Cunningham captain. RN CAs do not interest me at all for gameplay reasons. They are awful and the RN CLs can do anything the CAs can, only better (except fires). But i want to save my fXP for the upcoming fXP ships ...

    Thats cleared up then! I do find 12,7 +10% ok for tier 6 battles, but once Devonshire is uptiered, it simply not enough. As for maneuverability, I was lead to believe by CC videos that RN CAs were open water HE spammers. I'd say the Devon can play as an ambusher, but actually spamming HE in open water is not recommended.

    Devonshire has the shortest range of all tier 6 cruisers at stock 12,7 km, so nope. Other than that, thanks for the advice and yeah I found some succes with hugging islands, but only because doing anything else is suicide. As for maneuverability it's good enough for the Waifu playstyle, but neither rudder shift, turning circle or acceleration is anything to write home about.

    I've started playing them like USN CLs with somewhat more succes (especially when there is a CV in the game). Had now two 70kish games with 2+ kills in Surrey. Tried open water kiting, but they have too short range for that to work. Being closest to the opponent because of range limitations on top of being slow and clumsy just makes that playstyle a death sentence.

    Tried it but so far CV in every match.... Got a good ambush on a Donskoi for 1 citadel and hit an Ohama with 2 as aswell. I also hit a shchors and just got overpens- My aim isnt the best, but even so I expected better The torpedoes are great and the only bright spot for these CAs. Hydro not very useful except for spotting DDs in smoke, since maneuverability is so bad that dodging even spotted torps is a questionable affair.

    Pay to Play PVE mode?

    They make events like April fool, Halloween and the rust bucket event in summer. Those make money. No reason PvE shouldnt if you add lootboxes and micro-transactions! But the modes get boring VERY quick and the problem is, there are other players in the game mode. Maybe if you could only access the game modes if you had Premium account, i would play them, but WoWs is primarily a PvP game.

    Getting overrun, or overrunning the other team....

    Teams today are worse than the worst weekend team. One way or the other, they are over in 5-10 minutes. Player quality is even worse than usual and getting 50% more bXP than #2 on the team is not unusual. Guessing its patch day. The only way to have a decently fun game seems to be if playing DDs or CV. Some gems from 5 intensely frustrating games: - Friendly neptune radars an akatsuki entering the cap. Akatsuki promply stops and smoke up broadside on in the cap - Myoko, KGV decides to chase Roon to the end of the map. Both manage to get killed by it. - Meanwhile, friendly Jervis decides to 1v1 another full hp KGV and gets sunk without landing a single hit. - And CV ignores the DDs charging it down to farm BBs on the other side of the map.

    Kamikaze can have 71 knot torpedoes at tier 5. Need I say more? Also Shima F3s go 80 knots now instead of 76 knots. Its almost a free two point TA perk. Definitely a some good options to consider. I'm even considering to throw TA + that module on my Benham for 73 knot torpedoes instead of regular 66 knots. Sure those BBs can mount the torpedo detection module now, but if they cant dodge in time anyway....
  19. Assuming one wants the british captain Cunningham, can you earn it for free? Also the numbers posted by WG does not appear to add up. News article says 1380 tokens are possible to earn by buying London (or Albermarle) immediately and doing all daily challenges. However, the numbers posted by WG only adds up to exactly 1000 tokens exclusive of the London challenge which adds up to 290 tokens, or 1290 tokens in total which is 90 tokens short of the number claimed by WG. Am I missing something here? @MrConway@Tanatoy Directives: 100+150+150+150 = 450 tokens Daily shipments: 10+10+10+20 = 50 tokens Daily missions according to article: 500 tokens Total free tokens: 1000. London challenge: 10 / day. From february 13th to march 11th: 29 days = 290 tokens. Total 1290 tokens. I can find another 80 tokens if the news article is wrong and the daily missions from march 8th to 11th also provide tokens, but that still leaves me 10 tokens short!

    Not planning to do it since WG nerfed acceleration. Now it competes with 3 other upgrades (Concelament, rudder shift and LM) that are probably better. But by all means try it and let us know :)

    Venezia current state and legendary upgrade

    Venezia can dictate the terms of the engagement vs anything that isnt a CV due to fuel smoke. It's also fiendishly maneuverable and hard to hit, coupled with having actual waterline armored nose (and rear?) so its very surivivable. SAP at tier 10 is just very strong against any ship that isnt a CV. Personally I think SAP OP vs DDs since oneshots are possible and volley damage should be limited < 15k, but others will disagree. LM for all tier X ships are promised to come in the Research Bureau at some point next year.

    Alsace needs a buff.

    Good advice, the only exception being crossmap-crossfire (stalingrad and the likes reversing too far and broadside on) WG should nerf BB range to max 20 km and reduce HE spam range to 18 max (and less for certain CLs). Apart from some crying from BBabies, it should fix the bad sniping BB play somewhat and at least for them to tank.
