    Disagree with the first - agree with the latter. Newbie US bb captains probably wants the range, but for experienced players the choice of range vs aa is a toss-up, due to the atrocious dispersion of max range US BB fire. US BBs wants to push and brawl anyway, not snipe, so range isnt really an issue after the first few minutes. Meanwhile the AA mod provides 20% increased range to aa fire, which combined with superior aa of US BBs of tiers 7+ translates to virtual immunity to CV attacks. The only exception is the New Mexico which has quite bad AA in the first place. On that ship the sheer amount of guns means increased range is less of a waste, since simple chance often dictates that at least some of those 12 shells are going to hit - even at 19 kms!

    Agree completely. Tirpitzes and cruisers around the world rejoice. Aiming systems mod is far superior for everyting except US BBs. It also looks like WG has reduced the options for non-US bb players. Do however remember there is also an AA upgrade in slot 2. The patchnotes says nothing about removing it, so my guess is it will still be around for escort CAs and US BBS to pick up.

    Nope you are right. There has been no russian review. Possibly none is planned due to the recent release of russian CAs and WG wants players to keep grinding?

    Who then disconnects, just as the AFK player manages to reconnect? Rules of probability means usually both teams will have one and it is fair anyway. WoWs is the most bugged game i know. And 5.5 made it much worse. Every 2-4 games my client crashes, and one in ten of those crashes the entire pc. Still searching for a fix.     I've done this in the Kiev aswell. 48 knots with flag + engine boost is crazy. On topic: RU dds arent all that hard to hit if they stay broadside on as they tend to do while shooting. They are limited by range to something like 12-13 kms and provided you learn to give enough lead (you might need to zoom out) then it is just like shooting any other dd.

    Another reason is USN CVs were nerfed and lost their ability to get a 2nd TB squad on tier 8+. WG had to make up for the lost damage potential in some way. So they introduced better bombs. Also IJN is still performing better than US, so stats argue that that their "inferior" 2x4 TB squads decks are more useful than comparable USN decks. You just need to l2p

    Russian Cruisers - any good?

    Do anyone like this line at all? So far Tier 3: Guns are utter crap, they hit well enough, but HE rolls 0 damage and AP cant pen a kuma at 5 kms like german / US AP. I find my Kolberg is much better. Tier 4: Better guns, actually does damage. Seems overall pretty decent but is a CV magnet for some reason (could it be because it turns so slooooow) Tier 5+ no idea I want to play a CA line for possible Ranked use and I have decided USN (which is my only one) is utter sh*t. Figured russian Radar + Hydro/DF setup would be great, since last season ranked saw 4+ dds on each team on average, but now I'm starting to like german AP. I decided not to buy premium (atago / MK).

    That can't be the only reason you consider it a piece of crap. Most games on larger maps I've been in end up as camp-fests. Speed hardly matters when the battle line is stationary. If one entire flank goes, then usually the game is lost regardless. That isn't the ship's fault. If you happen to take the Colorado off to your teams weak side, it can make a formidable roadblock. It can basically hold that flank alone for 5-10 mins depending on how many red ships are there. But if you go there, you should've already been able to count ships on the minimap and cross off missing ships on the teamlist, so you know what you will go op against. The slow speed works in your favour too.

    Did you by any chance freeXp your way up the US bb line or do you still play stock colorado? Slow speed is not exactly unique to the colorado as it shares that miserable weakness with all previous us bbs. Or put another way, your commet makes me wonder why you didnt quit us bbs long ago. I learned to deal with the slow speed at tier 5 and maybe a little at tier 6. Certainly i had it down at tier 7.

    The storm in question happened while sailing my Independence, so lower tiers can definitely be included (i cant remember honestly if it was a tier 7 or tier 8 game). There are so many maps for tier 8+ that North has a frequency of around 10%, so having a storm on that map 80% of the games seems to fit the bill - without making it predictable.

    When the Enterprise and Lexington battled in the Coral Sea campaign...a raincloud saved the Enterprise from detection while Lexington was detected and sunk. Weather played a part in real life and so it should in the game - just like DB rng, BB rng, detonation rng etc. It provides immersion and atmosfere, and also adds variety to the same (boring) maps. I've personally only witnessed one storm in 50 battles (out of 5-6 battles on North) with the current map rotation. Maybe it is "bad rng" for me, but weather might aswell not be in the game. Certainly some increase in cyclone or milder weather frequency is in order. Maybe one in ten maps on average would be appropriate.

    You might want to take a look in the mirror, because that is flat out right but for the wrong reasons. You see, I wouldn't call it bias, I would call this justice. Both low and mid-tier IJN dds were very overpowered and superior to US dds at game lauch, so everybody played them. It's only fair US gets to be the top dog at some tiers, and they were not originally. The only balanced/usn favored tiers used to be tier 9+10, every other tier favored IJN torpedoboats. Then came all the minekaze nerfs and mid-tier USN buffs to level the playing field. Now the USN captains who perservered gets rewarded. edit: inserted correct quote

    The Colorado is a great ship. It recieved some buffs after release that took it from average to good. I keep mine in port and take her for a spin every now and again, and she is one of my favorite ships. Despite having a fully upgraded NC, Colorado is often just more fun. What I love about the ship is the C hull guns. Railguns I should say - it has fantastic shell-arcs. Much better than the NC at tier 8. Armor. It can be penned from the front, yes, but only if you go bow-on. Keep her angled 15-30 degrees and you will bounce almost everything fired at it including 16' guns. Her weakness is deck armor and plunging fire, which is why NC's makes her cry, since bow-on NC's can pen her while she cant pen the NC due to flat arc. Also she doesnt like Tirpitzes due to torps + slow speed. But in tier 7 games. Oh boy. It can shoot down en entire strike ranger's massed formations (6+ planes never makes it into range). It beats it's opposite tier 7 BB, the Nagato inside its range (better armor). And it is an absolute beast at pushing! There are also weaknesses (it is SLOW and vulnerable to max-range kiting), but nothing short of massed CA BBQ (oddly enough, often Atlantas) can stop it cold. Torps and DDs just makes it laugh before those mighty 16' guns sneeze the dd back to port and the graceful maneuverabilty lets the torps sail harmlessly by. That is my 2 doubloons.

    Low tier CV play (tier 6 and below) is awesome. My Zuiho is a killing machine with 60k avg damage despite facing AA Bogues 11/10 games. Makes a pretty decent credit farmer too. The rest....doubt it is worth wasting time on.

    Yes I noticed that in the patch notes. Spent a lot of time grinding my T8 captains and moved them away from my T7 vessels. Then along comes WG and does this crap. COULD it per-chance have anything to do with the launch of a T7 premium CA - with Radar no less?? Thank you for the recommendation. Much of what a read (including stats) speak to the RU cruisers currently holding the top spot tho. I have an ARP Myoko (but unfortunately I didn't get the 15 point ARP captain), so maybe I will try that out a bit and compare with RU ships. Do anybody have opinions on german CAs for ranked use (I dont know which ones are good/crap)

    How to dodge manual torpedo bombers with T5 US battleship?

    If the CV captain is good, you will take 2, sometimes only 1 torp. Provided you dodge optimally. It's all about timing. You want to delay the drop for as long as possible, then just as the planes are committed, perform a dodge. Delaying can be done by observing the planes approach and if there is time, turn away. Otherwise turn bow on, Once the CV commits the planes and they get < 1,5 km and drop low, you slam engines in reverse to slow the ship and decrease your turning circle to throw the drop off a bit. Once you see the torps, maneuver as best you can through the torpedo soup.

    CVs these days are basically restricted to scouting and discouraging players from sailing alone. Also there are too many CAs in the mid-tier games. And one has to wait for the BBs to kill them off. I've gotten lots and lots of practice torping DDs lately.

    Only have tier IX ships as I focus on ranked battles and that means tier 8. That said: Zao is considered the best CA in the game, Yamato the best BB and Hakuryu possibly the best CV (but hard to play). For dds, Gearing vs Shimakaze is a toss-up. You ask about Tier X so I'm only mentioning lower tiers and ranked games, but that is a place where IJN is not so superior, except in the CV department.
