I'm toying with the idea of getting and Atlanta for ranked use, now that it has gotten radar. But how would you set it up with a 15 point captain? Tier 1: BFT Tier 2: Last stand? Nothing useful comes to mind on this tier. Tier 3: Vigilance seems like a no-brainer. Tier 4: AFT (hard choice since all are good - but the extra AA power sells it) Tier 5: Take CE or get another tier 4 skill? Concealment equals survivability, so is it worth giving up that tier 5 skill as some here advocate? Especially for a squishy CA who will likely be the enemy team's Public Enemy #1. And if you do - what to take? Manual AA would be rarely used (lack of CVs). SE seems viable, but I guess DE would be the most useful choice (dds can burn too).

Saipan needs a buff, or AA needs a global nerf T6+
GulvkluderGuld replied to KillSlim's topic in Aircraft Carriers
If any T7 CV needs a buff, it is the miserable Ranger. Hiruy and Saipan can fight each other on equal footing assuming similar loadout and captain skills. Ranger just....can't. Not going to rehearse the stats of Saipan planes vs Hiruy or Ranger, since it has been done elsewhere. The extra speed means a LOT and its impact scales exponentially, not arithmetically. In particular you can make undodgable drops on DDs with those ungodly TBs because they can outmaneuver the DD so much easier. -
ARP Hiei captain taking up reserve

More likely Russian HQ don't give a sh*t about EU and keeps their staff in Paris hanging. I love their game, but WG has to be the worst gaming company out there at customer relations. -
Do we really need Situational Awereness?
GulvkluderGuld replied to puxflacet's topic in General Discussion
Primarily a DD player here and I actually find myself in agreement with the spirit of the suggestion. I definitely think SA should be a captain skill, not free for all. But making it level 5 would be a really, really bad idea. IJN spotter boats would reign supreme. Since they have the best concealment in game, they dont need SA while everyone else do - thus they can take CE and be even harder to find, while everyone else will need SA. WG has chosen (or had) to put the most impactful skills for DD at level 1 and 2. Concealment expert is the only other equally impactful skill. I liked the game much better when captain skill choices actually meant something. When you had to give up some skills in order to get others. These days, all DDs have SA and CE and most have LS. The only impactful choice left is on level 3 and possibly level 4 (but even there DE vs SE vs AFT is decided by nation) In other words, I find WG is removing diversity. -
Point taken about the AP and ship in general. I'm curious what 1v1 you would take with her. Tried to take a Kolberg on in a closing engagment (B point on Solomon). No broadsides, just HE spam. Kolberg simply out-dps me, she had more guns and better ROF. Could've won if I hit my torps, but didnt. Don't think either of us missed very many shots.

You must be getting stupider opponents than me then. Usually higher tier CAs just spam HE at me from beyond the Karlsruhes measly range and kite me to death.

You are right. I can't dismiss any of them now! Damn what did WG do now? -
I finally get t10 ship but get bankrupt by repairbills
GulvkluderGuld replied to Commodore_DK's topic in Archive
Laughed when he put DDs and cannon balls in the same sentence. Then gave up on reading the rest. I really miss that Premiere League flag for 20% discount on repairs + July 20% discount on top. Tier 8 I can manage without running a deficit, but tier 9 is pushing it. Just having a normal game and taking > 50% damage leaves me with a deficit. -
ARP Hiei captain taking up reserve

Dismiss one of the other chicks from her ARP ship, then put this new clingy GF to work in that ship? The other ARP captains are dismissable (i certainly got rid of a few already that were clogging my reserve), so I fail to see the problem? -
Met the first one today in my NC. Half my team got annihilated in the first 4-5 minutes. Hit a cuople shells for 3,5k on him and spent the rest of my miserable game running from him + 2 dd, a mogami and 2 bb. I will say it takes a while, even for a Flint, to burn a NC down. The team had NO idea how to deal with it and got rekt good, even though I warned them i chat.

point. I meant behind a friendly tier 7/8 bb

Use your concealment of 13 km and islands etc and ofc staying in the back? Didnt play much warspite after 5,9 If spotted by dds anyway just alt + F4?
-
4-5 km if it is a Cruiser, 5-6 km if it is a german cruiser.

You will not be dissapointed. I absolutely love that ship. But talk about going through hell to get it.....

SE is really good in ranked games. BFT and EM are nice to have. I actually run the turret traverse mod on my Blys untill I can get EM again (17 point captain). Vigilance is a must on Blys and RU dds for me. Also the rudder shift mod. mhm, Ranked battle on T7. I liked it. It is very different from tier 8 (world of Tirpitz/Atago)

What in the world is WRONG with people on this forum. So many unfriendly posts. This is no way to welcome a relatively new player. 108 battles lost in a row might be a but excessive and smells like a troll, but he only played 200ish battles total and it is his 3rd post here. Aggressive playing, aiming well, reading the minimap and learning what other ships can do to you...those are all things that needs to be learned. Sometimes, especially low-tier, there can be fast loses and losing streaks. It gets frustrating. Happens to me too. Had a 8 game losing streak on my Fletcher with average 40k damage and 2-3 caps each game just this weekend. I recommend you read a couple of the guides on this forum to Cruisers (CA) and the ones about aiming/damage and spotting mechanics. There are youtube videos to teach you the same thing too. Then just chill around and stick with maybe 2 classes. For me Cruisers and DDs worked nicely at first. Play Japanese ships, they are relatively forgiving and have torps. Maybe throw in a the US destroyer line later, or Russian dd line if you like gunboat style (but it is hard to play, so dont start there). Once you feel ready, you can try Battleships. They will teach you how to aim, because you will die fast if you can't ;) The tier 3 ones are garbage, so skip those, and maybe the Myogi too. If you get frustrated, jump into an Isokaze (IJN DD) and run circles around stuff and torp away to your hearts content. I loved that ship. EDIT: Thought the OP had come to the forum for help, not to vent or even troll (since he signed "extremely frustrated player"). Might be I'm out too. Will see where this thread go for now.

Why are there such a huge amount of afk players in the game?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Kazazaka_Javastahe's topic in General Discussion
Had hardware problems, fixed them and had everything running smoothly on win 8.1 for the ranked season. Then used the tool to upgrade Win 8.1 to Win 10 a few weeks ago. Now WoWs crashes the PC and only WoWs does it. No other games or programs, no random blue screens, just WoWs. Would love to get it fixed, but I can't think of anything else than WoWs being at fault. It has always been buggy. -
Very true. I really dislike the importance of smoke in ranked. It should give a large dispersion penalty to shots, not make targets inside invisible. That would eliminate the invisifiring meta still give overextended DDs a chance to make their escape.
-
If it came across as a pissing contest, I regret that. I personally don't feel that way and have to disagree, but apologies if you felt pissed on I thought Chapayev had a 12 km radar and Flint a 12 km shooting distance (thought that is what chase said - at least before AFT). Anyway, what it boils down to is the Flint can create a no-sail zone of 12 km that is hard to deal with. Some answers were suggested, but they require teamwork or special consumables. However, the Flint wants you to sail into the smoke, so simply avoiding it should do the trick. BBs already do that vs aggressive DD smokes.

Had some Indy player who rushing into caps 2 mins into the game to "use radar" too At higher ranks they were fewer though. The Indy players liked to park on the rock in Islands of ice between the A and B points, on their "own side". Other maps had similar positions. From there they could reach most of the cap circle on the other side. It was incredibly annoying to play against (and good to play with). I do suspect the Flint is slightly OP even against skilled hands, because the smoke is so good. As you say, time will tell

Also, see this: I have nothing to add

It's true we don't know. That is why I am curious. Atlantas did do well in the recent ranked season. Most of the time they werent spotted or accessible to shoot at anyway though. Flints will still die fast to focus fire, just like Atlantas, so if spotted = dead very fast. You've got a point about smoking up BBs - that smoke is really really good. As to Radar, Indys and Atlantas both have it now - and most Indy players I saw in ranked played well. They often parked on central rocks but out of line of fire while using radar. What Flint might do is become the monster escort cruiser for the second cap, where usually you only send 1 dd 1 ca. It seems well suited to independent tasks. If german or IJN, load AP and go Bow-in and use Hydro at 5-6 kms. Welcome to citadel city. Throw some torps in for good measure for force maneuvers and expose that citadel.

This. WOWs has been crashing on me every 3-5 games since release. Some patches it gets worse and on others it gets a little better. No amount of reinstallations or updating drivers has been able to solve it. Tried it on three different Windows installations and it crashes on all of them. Recently had got it working perfectly on a clean install of Win 8.1, but then I upgraded to Win 10 and the crashes came back and got worse. These days it crashes the entire PC and I have to restart it when the game freezes. -
As I see from that video, some very special circumstances allowed this Flint to run amok: - First and foremost, he had an uncontested spotter - that friendly farragut. - There was no dd on the other side to contest the spotting. - Tier 7 max match meaning no Radar ships (the obvious counter) - Enemy CAs comes at him one at a time, typical random battles style, then break off. Better players would keep pushing into the smoke bow-on with hydro and torping /citadelling the hell out of him. As I see it, this ship certainly is very very good. I will be very curious to see how it does in a Ranked or team battles environment, as I suspect the answer is: not nearly as good. If the other team smokes up too and contest the spotting dd (as per the ranked season 4 high rank meta) I just dont see the Flint being more than another Atlanta. It is also an awfull easy target for torpedoes, although equipping Hydro will mitigate that threat somewhat. In Tier 8+ matches it runs into things like Radar ships, BBs with railguns, and engagements take place at longer ranges in general. I suspect Flints will do well regardless, but that will be due to expert players sailing it and avoiding BB fire effectively more than to the ship.

Blys has 7,5 km detection range (6,8 with a 15 point captain). You dont have to fight at long range at all. Usually I just sneak up on the bugger for some surprise 7 km HE buttsex. It also guarantees he cant get away :) Kiev guns are mounted forward so it pretty much has to sail front/broadside on or lose 2/3 firepower. In 300 ranked games I met exactly one Kiev that could trade 1:1 in damage with my blys. The only time a Kiev is really dangerous to Blys is when he gets inside torp range, since 2x5 rocket-torps are a quite challenging for the slow Blys rudder shift to deal with.
