    what do you mean, battleship - with her 2 C hull turrets? Apart from that I didnt notice anything different about her size....only the torps, which is a downgrade in laucher groups and speed.

    My BBs beg to differ. Unless the Mogami is broadside on or far enough away for plunging fire, it is a very resistant target to BB fire. The reason BBs turn their guns around to fire at it is because they absolutely detest fires.

    Minekaze earns more money. On the other hand Isokaze now enjoys privileged matchmaking of maximum tier 5. I imagine is the best sealclubber on tier 4 currently. If you think Isokaze -> Minekaze is a downgrade, wait for the Mutsu and Hatsu ;) Some people will tell you the IJN dd line is useless, unless you enjoy playing off-meta stuff like gunboat IJN dds. I still have fun in tier 4-5.

    This 3k game and i torped a friendly exactly twice by accident (after warning him in chat when he reversed course) + killed a sub 1k hp friendly twice with my secondaries while in a BB. Been torped myself many more times by friendlies behind me. Turned pink once after the new TK system. Never got a chatban by vengeful players reporting me. OP smells like an abusive (or very bad) player if what he writes is true.
  6. As the topic says. Havn't been enjoying my Kongisberg or Kongo at all lately. Ended up freeXP'ing the last 5k Xp of the Konigsberg because I got sick of being bottom tier. Even my Murmansk stays in port. Is there any stats we can see that can shed some light on how bad it is?

    AFT first Then have your pick of DE, CE or SE. Personally I use AFT+ CE on my Udaloi and love CE because I can stealth torp.

    Smoke mechanic and need of radar

    I like the OPs suggestion. Smoke is too strong offensively as currently implemented. One has only to look at the last Ranked season to see what it does.     I will add that with 5.9 matchmaking, tier 5 ships are rarely top tier anymore, which is quite rough on them. Especially the Omaha with its huge citadel. Also this: Omaha gets a range upgrade with the C hull in exchange for losing some guns and torp launchers. You need that extra range in tier 7 games. A well played Omaha has no trouble at all burning a Cleveland down 1v1. If it weren't for MM issues, it is by far the best ship in the line. AFAIK the CA acronym means cruiser, armored. But the Pensacola was a CA by designation and the Cleveland a CL - yet the Cleveland had better and thicker armor than the Pensacola. So if the designations don't reflect reality anyway (yeah it reflects gun caliber, I know that) why not be lazy and bunch all cruiser = CA.

  11. This is unfortunately true. But it isn't really funny the way it works now. I wanted to post my feedback that this is a step in the wrong direction, because this can quickly kill the game for me. I'm a veteran, but I can't imagine any newbie will feel any different upon reaching tier 5 and getting rekt 9/10 games by tier 7s. Basicly, now there are tier 8+ expensive and thus snipefest games tier 7 games with the same ships over and over we just played the whole ranked season tier 5-6 snipefests due to being bottom tier and getting rekt by tier 7 BBs sealclubbing newbies in tier 4 and below That is very little variation! Previously tier 4-6 were brawling games where one could yolo and go ham without getting blown out of the water instantly by tier 7 railguns. I miss those games dearly! This would make a lot more sense.

    Matchmaker Improvement Feedback

    I'm sick and tired of playing my tier 5 ships. Even fun tier 5 Premium ships stay in port now (along with my Warspite). The reason is the present Matchmaking makes it feel like grinding. The ships are almost always bottom tier.. Good and fun ships like the Konigsberg and Kongo are not fun anymore (Minekaze is the exception due to her superior concealment). The same goes for Murmansk. Adding insult to injury is the XP needed to complete the tier 5 "grinds" are much greater, so I'm stuck having to play these matches over and over (or freeXP'ing). Please revert the changes to tier 4 matchmaking. At least the tier 4 grinds were bearable because they could be done in a relatively few games. Pardon the emotional garbage in the next sentence, but.... New players will be exposed to sealclubbing at tier 5 now instead of tier 4, true, but instead of feeling they could make progress and advance to tier 5, they are now stuck forever grinding the utter hell that is tier 5.

    Karlsruhe..Finally we part ways!

    Just finished the worst grind in my life. This useless garbage makes all my other grinds look good. Stock pepsi. Stock Trolorado. Even the useless Trashkent. Havnt done Myogi or Furutaka but so far Karlsruhe is just in a whole league of its own in misery. Thank God it is over! Did anyone like this ship at all? I feel like the Kolberg is probably a better ship! WG please for the sake of future generations of CA captains, buff this ship.

    Ranked Season 5 when?

    You know, during Ranked season there was this mission. Earn 25.000 credits by being in top 5 (or was it 6?) or your team. Since Ranked teams is composed of only 7 ships it was almost guaranteed money 9/10 games if you were any good. Earned several million credits this way before reaching rank 1

    Apologies for asking, but were we playing the same game? Maybe you played in the weekends during daytime, because the single time I did that, it made me feel like a masochist! During weekends in daytime Ranked was toxic and full of awful selfish players never cooperating. Evenings on the other hand were my friend, since teamwork usually quite good and the players friendly. Sure there was a bunch of Yolo sh*t going on in the lower ranks, but once above rank 10 I saw mostly teams agreeing on and executing the same plan. I rarely saw an AFK (it was almost always some guy with a client crash who came back). What set the 6-10 bracket apart from the 2-5 bracket were mostly ignorance and execution errors. The team didnt focus fire on DDs. Smoke wasn't used to properly shield allies. BBs refused to push while at a points deficit, untill it was too late. When BBs pushed the rest of the team failed to follow it in and support it. Those are all examples of teamwork or examples of using abilities to benefit the team.

    Ryujo matchmaking

    Played a lot of Indy some time ago and now grinding the Ryujo. What I've seen is Bogue is used for Clear Sky farming and is 90% AS decks. Independence are a mix about 33/33/33 between AS, Strike and stock with stock being the best imo. Zuiho is strike because....WG reasons Ryujo - what I used to see is mostly AS decks when in my Indy. Strike Indy / Ryujo was rather rare and usually leads to one CV getting sniped early.

    Some things need to get implemented for Ranked to make sense. In particular: - Shots taken / bounced (damage denied) for the capital ships need to count toward XP - Spotting damage needs to be implemented, as currently spotting while crucial to the team, awards absolutely NOTHING to the dd/CV doing it. - Smoke / number of DDs needs a good hard look to change the grind-feeling meta. Either change the mechanics of smoke or consider a DD cap. Also the star change in S4 where the top of losing team didnt lose a star showed us how much selfish play is encouraged by this crap. It does NOT need to be expanded, as players often will play for being top of the team instead of winning.

    t10 games are sub-par compared to lower tiers - issues

    I've started to be AFK the first 3-4 minutes of tier 9-10 matches. Basicly nothing happens anyway and if I play DD, I tend to push forward to cap, get left to do it alone by my team, and die. If I wait 3-4 mins, the craven CA and BB have usually moved forward enough to make capping safe, or if they haven't, it is basically a lost game and I will farm damage and play safe for the rest of the match. Did I mention how much I hate tier 9/10 games? This is my impression too. As a DD i HATE CVs though - and the few remaining CVs usually dont give a crapabout their own dds, only try to kill the other sides DD.

    Agreed about the CVs and the Hiruy TBs. They already suck on the Ryujo. Lately I've re-evaluated my opinion on higher tier AA. Due to the sheer number of strike aircraft squads floating around, I find it quite acceptable. While it is true the AA of CAs and BB is hard to beat, any isolated ship (even NC and Iowa with full AA modules) is in serious trouble if an equal or higher tier CV decides to focus it down. Contrary to IJN camper ships, the US ships have invested a lot of upgrades in AA. It is only fair those upgrades have an effect, since they would be worthless otherwise. Even with all those investments and a 100 AA rating, only 1-2 squads out of 3-4 will actually die before dropping their payload. That is plenty for fires/flooding to do the rest. Right now there is absolutely no counterplay to a well-played CV strike except for DF and sailing in a group. Fast aircraft are always able to get into position. And getting deleted by CV strikes that you can do absolutely nothing about is a stupid game mechanic. It only adds frustration. If AA is to be nerfed, I'd suggest doubling or tripling the arming distance of torps dropped by TB to make room for counterplay. Also DB needs a complete rework.

    Well I only mentioned US CAs above tier 6. The Phoenix is great and I loved it too. The tier 5 Omaha used to be one of the highlights of the line. I have more than 300 games in it, and it is still good. The Cleveland at tier 6 is also a good ship. What I am getting at is this: If you like CAs and want to continue up the line to tier 7-10, you should consider trying another line first. I would recommend Japanese cruisers, since that line holds a lot of strong ships (tier 4, 7, 8, 10) and even the tier 5-6 ships have been buffed to be pretty darned good these days.

    Probably because I havn't been playing NO/Pensa for a long loong time and I'm used to BB shell arcs. 12 km is the distance I can pretty much guarantee hits on other things than BB. Anything more and CAs have time to use wasd-hacks. From 14-16 km it gets hard to even hit them. The Ap is very good though.

    Thank you all for your replies! I actually rather like playing her, and the bowtanking aspect is montrous. It is her horrible shell-arcs I've got problems with. Didnt realize it, but this is EXACTLY my problem with the NO. Bowtanking is my second nature with NO due to my experience with the NC, I do it all the time. It is monstrously effective, but it is strictly a last resort for me, since NO is easily outranged and suffers from horrible hitting problems at long range vs anything but BBs. Noted that concealment will improve her. However I do not own a US premium ship. This is EXACTLY my problem with the ship. Along with slow ROF these arcs makes hitting stuff >12 km almost impossible to hit. Will try the stealthy brawler build. I'm thinking the NO is probably best used in the later stages of the game, since ambushing relies on having isolated targets to shoot.

    If you like DDs, take it from a DD captain experienced with all 3 lines: Go USN first. IJN are great newbie dds due to stealth torping - but that doesn't seem to work for you (I love my isokaze though). USN are great allround dds due to fast turret traverse and great maneuverability + usable torps. They are easy to play and excel at all aspects of DD play: Guns, Torps, Capping, Spotting. Russian dds. Well, they're just harder to play, especially below tier 5. Russian guns (below tier 5) are crap, torps are worse and their speed is slower than some cruisers. They've gotten buffed since I played them (they used to be even slower). If you think the Derpski is bad, wait untill you get the Iziaslav. I managed some 20k average damage in PvP with them, but I relied heavily on my USN DD experience. Leave them be at least untill you've reached tier 6 in some other DD line Only....Dont ever play any other ships in the US tree, it is utter garbage (cruisers and CV > tier 6 in particular). BBs from tier 6-9 are actually decent.

    True. Either you need a substantial numerical advantage and push hard as a team (like 1:100 to get such a team in Randoms) Or just ignore it and run away untill there is something (radar, numbers, lots of torps) to deal with it

    Until Ranked games, I never ran SA on my capital ships tbh. No reason to do it, it is only useful to guess the direction of enemy DDs in lategame (using islands). BBs are permaspotted anyway. CV maybe benefit at lower tiers, because they dont know how to torp DDs. Higher tier CVs go after DDs first because they are free XP pinatas. Both classes benefit more from Vigilance. If SA was removed, cruisers and some RU dds would be the ones hardest hit imo.
