Not sure the game needs anymore consumables tbh....The way WG fix issues like CV balance, IJN torps, radar and cv/dd/bb meta problems dont leave me with a lot of confidence: Next month we have: USS Black II, with smoke, radar, jammer and repair consumble and drop seamines off to slow pursuit down and make areas inaccessible. USS Missouri II with passive heal and stupidly big seaplanes with bombs and able to launch a flotilla of smaller boats to absorb incoming torp hits and launch counter torps of their own.

Sunk Flamu today and capped twice, still lost in the end and back to 7*. Had I had 3 sets of torp tubes, that might have been a triple kill, but I was flat out of torps with the remaining Arizona at 3 km :(
-
My worst Ranked game so far. Got sunk early by torps after doing only 15k dmg. Look at that #1 haha! (not meaning to flame or shame btw - he went to contest the other cap alone at the teams request...i have NO idea how he managed a teamkill!)

Think we met in one of those matches (Mutsu game where i sailed my Leander). You should know I played 10 regular randoms before this ranked match - all losses with me in top 3. Weekend teams :( I think the Fuso is the worst BB. It the guns cant hit anything and even if they do - it is overpens. I struggle to break 5k volleys while doing just fine in US, UK and German BB. Maybe it's a thing with practice, I'm used to US and german bbs while I struggle with all IJN bbs.

From Rank 13 to rank 10 in 22 games. Now past rank 10, it takes forever to get a game. As usual the level of play is abysmal. Not yet, but since the leve of play was horrible, I've been messing around today in my strike Ryujo. It worked suprisingly well, untill MM finally gave me an AS Ryujo as opponent!

4k games and own 2 tier X (Gearing, Khaba) and some tier IX (Iowa, Balti, Uda) Favorite ship: Baltimore (and I expect Des Moines to be even more fun). Loads of aa great stealth and dpm and radar. You can run or hide from most fights and have great impact with radar and aa combined with high dpm. The Khaba I play only once in a while. It is still great, but I've gotten bored with the playstyle. Still' if you like slinging HE and zipping across the map, it is very viable.

Got 5 stars after God knows how many attemps. The Izumo variation is the easier of the 2, maybe because the Lexington planes break up the final attack waves. Not sure why the Hiruy variation is harder. As a Ryujo experienced in CV sniping, taking it out by spawn-camping is extremely easy. Unfortunately, my Random soloQ buddies always managed to get themselves killed before I could rearm the planes and help out with the next wave Doubt a Zuiho would have much trouble, even with the Izumo. Killing the Hiruy would be very tough though, as you lack that 2nd DB squad to set unrepairable fires and keep the planes in hangar. Strike Bogue ftw!

BB's the cowards choice of ship
GulvkluderGuld replied to DreadArchangel's topic in General Discussion
What? You mean they dont run from the beginning? Can I please have some of your teammates! Just had 6-8 losses being top 3 on the team, and 8/10 games 8-10 of them ran like headless chicked to E1 or E10 and froze in horror a single BB appeared out of Fog Of War. They then proceeded to furiously run for a safe haven to camp -
Chapayevs are certainly a thing, but the others (even buffed) can't match the Belfast. They are too damn fragile

T VI would be fun for a change. T VII is World of Premiums and we already had that last time - doubt they will repeat TVII T VIII would be interesting and make WG orgasm from selling newer premiums - Alabamas and the upcoming USS Kidd fletcher class T8 dd. Doubt T8 will be too BB heavy - Bismarck hydro was nerfed afterall and IFHE introduced. So most likely it will smoke meta with lots of Alabamas and Kutuzovs and Kidds but not so much in the way of Radar. And that calls for torpedo boats.

Switching Captains on non premium ships if you bought Doubloon camo!
GulvkluderGuld replied to Aschwell's topic in General Discussion
You clearly dont retrain 16+ point captains, or maybe you average 20k+ XP / game? Was leveling a captain with my Belfast with premium acct + perm camo + dragon and normal xp flags yesterday and the best game was a 20k XP game, but my average xp earnings were in the 6k-8k ballpark. Even after paying the silver you still need 100-150k XP, so that is a good 10-20 games depending on how many potato teams you catch. -
Played yet another game on this stupid map and now I have to ask you guys. The meta on the map reminds me of the map "Trap" when everyone went to A, all games, no exception, eg, very predictable: The meta on this map seems to be west side go south for B+C while east team goes for A. Now my question for you captains is: Do you tend to win more often while starting west side on Okinawa? I'm sure east can win win, if they would just stay out of A. But the chance of that happening is somewhere around zero or below. Also, is it just me or is the island design around B hugely in favour of west team (can block the cap with impunity while there is no such play for east team)

Well, it was fun, while it lasted, but this is the end

Game has been going down hill since fall 2016 with the USN cv nerfs, IJN dds nerfs and new captain skills. Will not even go into the Wall hack thing, radar meta and latest stealth fire bs. I can currently be top 3 on my team 10 games straight and lose all 10. I even ended top of my team when i took my Tirpitz straight into the enemy team from sheer losing streak frustation, blowing up a dd on the way and doing some 50-60k total dmg in the few minutes I lasted. Seems a lot of potatoes made it into high tiers the last 6 months and have no clue how to push or position as a team. Look for the dudes camping in the back with premium camos Currently on a break from WoWs for a couple weeks and awaiting the next Ranked season. Planning to quit entirely after making rank 1 3rd time. Game is getting very stale. Even iChase said it on youtube. -
So, my Blyska is now a piece of ####?
GulvkluderGuld replied to RedStorm1's topic in General Discussion
Raw stats are rather misleading. Blys is an expert poke dd and has superior firepower and trading potential in a dd vs dd situation. Compared to Leningrad: Blys has higher volley Alpha by virtue of having more guns. If proceeding to turn away to kite: Blys can bring more guns to bear on target without giving broadside (4 guns face to the rear) Blys is more maneuverable (turning circle), letting it dodge almost every shell fired at it. Meanwhile the Leningrad can only bring 2 guns to bear in a chase although they do reload somwhat quicker and has more hp. Sure it may be close, but Lenin isnt fast enough to close the range and bring superior DPM to bear. -
New trend: DDs now camping behind the BBs
GulvkluderGuld replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Havnt seen evidence of this, but as a DD main, I've got the bitter experience with craven BBs to appreciate such behaviour. If the BBs camp, why should the DD sacrifice themselves? Dont think the BBs game is ready for such brilliant flashes of insight and strategy yet. -
Has Wargaming lost control or interest? (arguments by developers)
GulvkluderGuld replied to Bersigil's topic in General Discussion
Been playing since release and enjoyed the game untill around october last year. The effect of CV nerfs, DD nerfs and wonky new classes (german BB and RN CL) and map reworks with more islands has turned this game into WoT. Kemp bush; Kemp island. Also for some reason, 30-40% games seems to be stomps that are over in 5 mins. Boring. Also the basic way penetration and distance is modeled is at fault. The lastest and final straw is BB numbers going through the roof. It makes CA life intolerable and even pushing is BBs is stupidly dangerous (5 enemy BB point + click solo joe), which explains the camping. So now I almost exclusively played WoWs for ranked and considering to quit the game altogether. Feeling Sad, since I loved this game for about a year, have several T X and quite a few premium ships in port. At a guess, Ranked S7 will be my last unless something changes drastically. Massive BB nerfs (range down to 15ish km or dispersion through the roof or bigger maps) or a hard cap of 3-4 bbs/game will allow pushing on the other side of the map without fear of instant deletion by 16' shell. Massive buffs to torpedoes (DD, CV) and HE (CAs) will pull players to other classes. Same with economic rewards. Its basically the Shimakaze problem all over again, except that one was a lot easier to solve, since those dont camp. -
WTF? German DD 150mm cannons HE don't penetrate 25mm armor?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Mik1984's topic in General Discussion
Arnt german HE shells the ones with wonky penetration numbers? ie it's caliber divided by 4, not 6 (like all other shells)? -
worked, thank you!

Manual drop and 0.6.3 – experienced CV player feedback
GulvkluderGuld replied to Ishiro32's topic in General Discussion
#1 issue: Single mistakes in CV play gets punished MASSIVELY due to plane capacity. #2 issue: there is only 1 CV on each team. Untill tier 8, they have only 2-3 "reloads". leading to: #3 issue: Skilled player has superior mechanics and will in one engagement use fighters to neutralize enemy fighters (or strikecraft) then proceed to hunt down remaining planes leading to the loss of one entire "reload". I literally see CV players do things with strafe that I cannot replicate and didnt think was possible. My guess is they understand and take advantage of fighter turning circles and combine it with strafe. If one CV "gives broadside" or is less skilled, the enemy CV has free reign and slaughters everybody else on the other team. Basically like the Ghost ship event with a Des Moines at T3/T4. It depends on the point of view. Being the new player, when the existing CV population consists of mostly purple players with crazy mechanics, 95% will eventually tire from getting wrecked. Example from my own games: Used to farm credits in my Independence and later Ryujo. Back then I was a fair CV player with a good understanding of fleet movements and rarely met better players, mostly inferior ones. Using my fighters and strafe, I literally made enemy CVs go AFK (or sink themselves a few times) less than 5 mins into the game. I also deplaned AA Indy/Ryujos with my 1/1/1 Indy in 5-10 mins. This was not due to understanding fleet movements. This was CV vs CV mechanics. These days the reverse is true. There is a reason my Hiruy and Saipan stays in port: Really learning those mechanics (in the current environment) takes way too much effort compared to learning how to aim. And missing with guns is less punishing too - with CVs you have two shots. Three if you play mid-tiers.- 225 replies

Stealth fire was getting a bit too prevalent, I support a nerf. Many are the Ranked battles where I've burned down 1 or more BBs with impunity in my Blys (and not going alone isnt a choice when there is only 1-2 ships left on each team, so forget that excuse for keeping the mechanic). CV changes though....erm: Nerfing the T4 is probably fair enough since they never see more than T5 games. Nerfing T5 is just bonkers. The Bogue plague probably will hardly notice it, as they are only in it to farm Clear Skys anyway. The Zuiho on the other hand...With the limited loadout options and prevalence of AA bogues this ship will be nerfed beyond oblivion. Glad I have already progressed up the line...

Actually I found this one the most fun out of all the maps. Constant fight and competition over one location instead of the usual A / B monotony. Plenty of cover with islands in both outer rings and the centre open for dds. Perfect. Also, anything beats Domination on North. Anyone who played all ranked seasons will tired of it, and south spawn is still way favored after 6 seasons due to the landscape around A.

Should I continue with the Russian Destroyers?
GulvkluderGuld replied to purpletrain0000's topic in Destroyers
Have Khabarovsk and its still a powerhouse, dont let the pessimists fool you. Also tried the new T8 Kiev and it is great. Keep going I say If you like stealth, maybe the new branch will suit you - it exchanges the great guns of the main line for less and inferior guns (they can still light a fire, but have trouble racking up HE or AP dmg in high tier games) but get maneuverability, good torps and DF in exchange. The pre-spit Udaloi was insanely good, the new one less so, but still very fun, and it has potentially 15 torps (!) although they have only 8 km range and is mostly for selvdefence, but it CAN stealth torp. -
The best part of that is, you get compensated with some Tashkent XP if you already researched the Udaloi guns
